Itsuno is leaving Capcom Anonymous 08/31/2024 (Sat) 11:20:35 Id: 027d14 No. 1007816
This thread's going to be a fucking disaster, I know it.
>>1007816 RIP CAPCOM If this isn't the final nail in the coffin then I don't know what is.
Fuuuuck. Capcom is dead. Their last autist/auteur is gone. I'm guessing DD2 didn't do the numbers they'd hoped so they put him back on shitty sequel duty. And I'm pretty sure this means we'll never see any DD2 DLC, since they haven't shown fucking shit at Gamescom.
What's with so many important figures in Japan's vidya industry leaving companies they've worked at forever recently? Takaki left Marvelous, Kariya left PlatinumGames, Fatlus lost most of their important/historic talent, and now Itsuno's leaving Capcom.
>>1007816 Why would this matter when MH Wilds is gonna be a quadruple A game of the century. :^)
I'm not the Capcom autist but there is something fucking funny they said recently. Do you know why they're not making more Dino Crisis? Monster Hunter. I'm not joking, look it up.
>>1007826 They are in this weird mindset of keeping all their eggs on one basket, at this point they are just going to focus on resident evil and monster hunter.
(661.79 KB 741x927 sdfds.png)

(313.46 KB 400x437 monhunc.png)

>>1007826 It's even dumber than that, really. https://archive.is/TX7iQ
>>1007824 Obviously the companies are pushing things into their games they don't want, some endure more than others, some just decided to not give a fuck about their legacy like Daisuke
>>1007816 DD2 was MIA in Gamescom for a reason, and this was the end result. Fuck Capcom.
(2.19 MB 3401x3493 1606880015737.jpg)

>>1007816 Good. I hope this faggot and his "dream game" dragons dogma 2 dies a painful death. Same shit with the awful art direction DMC is in >B-BUH THE COMBOS AND THE KURAISHI ANON FUCK YOU
>>1007848 ow the edge
>>1007816 >inb4 he's working on the new Art of Fighting game.
DD2 had this weird defensive force on it about everything, including the bad DLC practices. Sure people should've said something about these practices in other Capcom games, but that didn't make it any less terrible.
Interesting this is announced the same day the DD2 feedback survey ended.
>There will never be a summoner-like Vocation that lets you play like V from DMC5 >Summoning creatures and hitching rides on them FUCK!
>>1007849 That anon's fury is understandable. Itsuno promised the moon when promoting DD2 and gave people mediocre garbage instead that was nowhere close to the "Idealized version of Dragon's Dogma" he originally promised, and ended up a downgrade in tons of ways. People have every right to be furious. Honestly I think DD2 being such a disaster might be why he's retiring/quitting in the first place. Maybe there was something going on in the background that we'll never know that made him have to ruin his "Dream game" or made him not have time to finish it properly.
(399.73 KB 1452x686 Bullshit.png)

Also, this supposed leak is becoming more and more unlikely.
>>1007816 As if I needed more reasons to never give crapcom a chance. >>1007821 >I'm guessing DD2 didn't do the numbers they'd hoped It still feels like capcom intentionally fugged over DD2. I have no proof of this, just can't shake the thought. >>1007824 As vidya companies race to the bottom of the shit abyss, it makes sense that devs with actual talent and passion would try to avoid going down with the ship. >>1007828 >survival horror game can't be made because of fucking monster hunter Alright.
>>1007824 Japanese people are wising up to the exploitative culture of the country's companies, with the constant unpaid crunch time that lead many to have health problems or literally die from working, in some cases. Add to that the constant threat of the Yakuza (the Japanese mafia practically owns all the entertainment industry), whose members constantly try to harm or kill workers from competing factions, and the overall incompetence of the current government, and you have a lot of talented people simply realizing that it is not worth to risk ruining their lives and health working for those companies. There is a massive exodus of Japanese urbanites going to the countryside seeking a quieter life over there, due to the extremely unhealthy living conditions of the big cities, due to the problems cited above. When your future was secured as long as you stayed in the company, Japan had those talents gladly working for the companies. But now, everything is unsafe and uncertain, so they are leaving.
>>1007873 I love osaker
>>1007929 I think the question pretty much all around the developed world is that how do you do your white collar office job without having to put yourself into the social, biological and psychological meatgrinder that is the metropolitan city and completely obliterate any sense of family and companionship with successive generations. I suppose that you could extend this question to industrial society as a whole. All populations have this problem in the present day, but some have it much worse than others. South Korea likely tops that list, followed by the other east asian societies and then the white countries.
>>1007870 There's no way they didn't peek at the results prior to closing, and they're probably guided by the overall reviews as well. It's very likely itsuno got shafted hard in the development and now takes the blame. Well deserved from me. DD2 ruined one of my favorite games to the point I can't even stomach the first anymore.
>>1007943 The question is not "how?" but "why should you?" The white collar job is a scam. Metropolitan cities are objectively bad for a healthy life. There is no reason to keep doing any of that, other than lazy retards who want to have (((services))) existing so they won't need to do necessary tasks themselves. But even that is disappearing, as there is fewer and fewer capable workers every day, due to people realizing that "living like a king" is not worth it. That is also why you see so many jews sperging about it. They are the main group that wants to keep this unsustainable state. But everyone else is realizing that living a quiet a rural life is better than the retardation that is living for a career in the big cities.
>>1007912 I'm a classic Capcom enjoyer who loved Mega Man 11 in 2018.
>>1007951 The rural life isn't exactly greener either, people really romanticise it.
>>1007953 That was the Brazilian, I recognize his talking points.
>>1007904 Perhaps you're right, they probably rushed out DD2 in hopes that they'll shut him up and put him on the DMC mines when he decided to say "fuck you" and work with another company instead.
>>1007929 >>1007943 >>1007951 Are you guys going to leave out the circumstances of WHY people even came to the cities in the first place? Such as the fact that you could a lot more money working in a factory than you could doing husbandry.
>>1007848 Ah, yes, the fucking BBC poster is here too
>>1007985 His spirit lives on
(53.10 KB 888x499 PATHETIC.jpg)

>>1007987 >Pointing people to gay niggers >Using enemy language to exaggerate nigger dick size Cuck
>>1007987 Maybe you should stop going to the shitted board, anon. You have brain rot.
>>1007818 Nah, it's a logical conclusion. People DON'T want the creatives they love stuck slaving for the Alzheimer's execs. Watch the KKs burn themselves out trying to tap the empty ESG/DEI well while the creatives usher in a new golden age for doujin titles. None of the private, independent developers are falling for pozz because there is virtually no monetary incentive to, and Sony essentially destroyed the monopoly it once held by trying to court the Commiefornians.
>>1007824 Crapcom became a japanese Ubisoft and fell for the pozzed trends, Dead Rising 4 was a wake up call when they let nu-males mutilate their franchise and almost bankrupted the company as a whole.

DANCE BREAD Can't wait for what Itsuno's got planned now that the retards are out of the way.
>>1007824 They turn 50something, have a mid-life crisis, and figure working for smaller outfits is probably more satisfying. It happens in the West too. Plus of course DD2 overpromised and underdelivered and perhaps he believes he can't do this shit at Capcom anymore. Not going all "DD2 would have been godlike if the corpo jew hands didn't fuck it up" but it's clear a least a few of the shortcomings with DD2 were corporate decisions. Now it's just a matter of he becomes Inafune 2
>>1008113 Ironically, Inafune's reputation as stealing the title of "the father of Megaman" is something he went out of his way to get ahead of. I don't think it's an apples-to-apples comparison; Inafune merely presided over Megaman for the majority of its existence and got automatically associated with the franchise, while Devil May Cry players still give Kamiya credit for starting DMC and Itsuno turned around a shit hand he was dealt with 2, not to mention Dragon's Dogma was obviously his true passion. And to give him credit, Inafune's a BIG reason Inti Creates was able to branch out into becoming the indie studio it is today. Itsuno is also not heavy on branding himself like Kojimbo and Con Man. I do think a factor is whether he will retain the talent he managed at Crapcom.
>>1007993 There's women on /v/.
>>1007943 >how do you do your white collar office job without having to put yourself into the social, biological and psychological meatgrinder that is the metropolitan city Remote work. There are already indie studios that don't have any HQ or office, even before the plandemic. Everyone just uses Git and whatever video conferencing software they prefer. Though, it's up in the air if this will actually scale with a larger company. >>1007985 And some of those people chose to leave the city once the automobile became available, hence the existence of suburbs. Urban areas have always been hell on Earth, even before the industrial revolution (ancient and medieval cities had sanitary problems). People have always either came for the culture or for economic opportunities. >>1007959 People conflate rural life with village life, which are actually two different things. There is a huge difference between living in the middle of nowhere and living with a small, close-knit community. The latter more closely resembles how humans are actually meant to live.
>>1007816 Interesting. Theoretically, he can potentially still work for them if he's going freelance. But I guess we'll see.
>>1008123 Can't make any big bucks outside of the city, the city exists to make money, especially with companies wanting people to work in their offices. Mind, everywhere is shit.
>>1007990 Man do I miss Ted he departed this world too soon.
>>1008156 The guy literally just took Jacques Ellul's ideas to the absolute extreme. There was nothing original about him.

>>1007828 >No Dino Crisis because Monster Hunter Yet you had space for that ExoPrimal flop, you fucking liars. All I want is a RE2/RE3 "RE"make of Dino Crisis that I can mod into a VR title.
Guys what if Itsuno makes a not-DinoCrisisRemake as a fundraiser test project for his new independent studio and then uses the proceeds to fund not-DragonsDogma3? Just to really stick it to Capcom before they fail because everything else they put out has DEI forced into it.
>>1008122 When you mean one and not many, it's spelled with "a."
>>1008133 >>1008123 >>1007985 Suffering must have meaning.

Now that this has all transpired and both hype and hate has died down, I'm going to finally ask why the hell Dragon's Dogma 2 was like that? It's not even bad but it repeats basically every mistake the original game made. I can't imagine it was the game Itsuno wanted to make, it doesn't even have most of the stuff DD:DA was intended to have. What was the point of it, 12 years for an updated retread of a flawed cult classic? DD2 can't have been his dream game vision he worked towards for 25 years, so I repeat: why the hell Dragon's Dogma 2 was like that?
>>1008292 yup, it feels like there was no overall improvement from dd1, Same good ideas but poor/incomplete execution, world still feels empty, lore is not explained one bit infact its made even more obscure and confusing. They improved combat but fucked with music. Improved enemy AI but fucked with enemy variety. NPCs are even more NPC here without a cutie brown waifu. One step forwards, another step backwards.
(5.58 MB 482x360 Steve jobs product.webm)

>>1008292 Some things better, like the heavier, fluid gameplay with push and mount mechanics, but way too many things are actually worse in comparison to DD1, which is inexcusable because as you well said, it's been 12 years and the man has has a million different venues of criticism and experience to improve on, but I'll just narrow it down to these 3 possibilities for why, in effect, it came out worse: 1) Money 2) Japanese are notorious for refusing to change and update themselves, so maybe Itsuno did exactly that for DD1 3) Money. And maybe quite a lot incompetence. If it were just money, it could be chalked to rushed deliveries and other shit, but seeing the render distance issue and the NPC interaction performance, I'll go with incompetence, both from higher ups and from programmers.
>>1008325 >A quiet life is more important than anything. And healthier too. And how are you going to pay for that?
>>1008334 Its luciano, the huemonkey doesn't even pay for shit in his favela.
>>1008292 There's a good chance Capcom execs sabotaged it just like they did the first game, they just wanted Itsuno to be their DMC piggy which why I'm guessing he decided to leave.
>>1008334 With a currency that's not a fiat petrodollar. A currency is only worth as much as the economical workings it's from. Purchasing power, cost of living, and a strong culture are more important than having the tallest building in the world.

>>1007828 They not even in the same genre? What is he talking about >>1008292 A theory I saw floated around is they used the game to develop tech for Monster Hunter Wilds, a lot of the same animations and mechanics are showing up in it. Why else would Capcom allow something that isn't fucking Monster Hunter?

>>1038686 >upcoming DMC game. They didn't go on break like what usually happens when a franchise founder quits?
>>1007824 Companies are getting woke and going broke, so the smart guys are leaving.
>>1008105 The wake-up call was way earlier. Remember the on-disc paid DLC for Asura's Wrath and Street Fighter x Tekken? Those should be enough for anyone to never give money to crapcom ever again. The company is controlled by scum. >>1007929 >My exact post copied and pasted from more than a year ago I'm glad people are keeping this info alive.
Probably worth mentioning in this thread but DD2 is so poorly optimised that it still can't reach 60fps on a PS5 Pro. While other games have a "why not both?" approach to Quality/Performance modes on PS5 Pro, Dragons Dogma 2 is still neither.
>>1038809 Why not revive the DD2 thread to tell people that?
>>1038706 Nah, this isn't Megaman. I think they'll eventually remake DMC1 or DMC2 since capcom has been pushing DMC in merchandise and promo art.
>>1038811 nah its better here >>1038665 >which is a subsidiary of Tencent
>>1038814 If you say so.
>>1007828 This is the same logic that the Mexican gave for why we can't have good Paper Mario games anymore. Do all Japanese devs have weird autism?
What's worst about Crapcom? Shitty leadership? Pozzed stories? Overpriced garbage? Shady business? Unpolished games? Bad ports? Crap optimization? Ruined remakes? Greedy bastards? Needless monetization? Microtransactions? Lootboxes? What did I miss?
>>1039047 Itsuno betraying Capcom to whore his services to chinks at Tencent?

>>1039047 Then arbitrarily leaving out the PC playerbase when it comes to DMC5SE, They did it with DmC DE first, but DMC5SE was more insulting. No Turbo mode despite the fact it was Pitifully easy to mod into DMC5 on the first day. No Legendary Dark Knight mode, a mode that only exists in the first place because of the DMC4 PC port from 2008. I don't care about Raytracying, but they've already gone back and added it to REmake 2 and 3, so there was literary nothing stopping them from updating DMC5 as well, but they just refused to do it.
>>1038665 So the globohomo tanked the company and made it kick its talent, only for the second half of the globohomo to absorb it? Tencent really is the cancer they are trying to spread before the chink invasion of WW3: Electric Boogaloo 2. Actually never mind, WW3 already started with the invasion of Ukraine.
>>1039047 The FGC supporting the company. >>1039052 >not betraying a shitty company.
So... does that mean we'll get the Dragon's Dogma we deserve even if it's called something else like... Drake's Defense, Leviathan's Lessons, Wyrm's Will or something like that.
>>1039195 What, two shitty companies with one of them being propped up with government money?
>>1039157 Yeah, DMC5:SE not coming to PC is insanity.
