For Mass Effect and GTA I think a miniseries would work better, Fallout and The Last of Us got miniseries, so why not these games? Of course, I personally do not want any of these games to be adapted, fuck Hollywood, get better ideas, or if they really want to adapt them, make something completely different, like how Tarkovski made Stalker which had nothing to do with the game book. I think the big problem with isekai which, which gets overshadowed by all the other problems with it, is that there’s no point in it being in another world. The worlds are all incredibly generic and uninteresting. They don’t invoke the feeling that going to another world should. If you want to write a power-fantasy harem whatever you can do it on earth. There are countless ways authors have introduced magic into ‘the real world’ over the years, so your MC can get overpowered through any number of them.

I want Isekai to actually be about developing worlds again, not just another self insert setting.

Basically, he ends up losing his powers fighting the final boss and then just... gives up on being a hero or having anything to do with heroes (including his friends) and becomes a wagie for eight (8) years while all of his friends become successful and famous and then out of nowhere he gets gifted power armor and goes back to being a hero on the last page of the last chapter. Literally zero character development since the beginning of the entire fucking series when he was crying about being powerless and then got handed a ridiculously OP power for free and in the meanwhile none of the relationships he had with anyone ended up meaning anything at all.

Yeah, and the issue is that he completely gave up. Once his incredibly OP asspull powers were gone he said "welp, guess I'm done being a hero" and went off into something else entirely - until he got ANOTHER set of powers dropped into his lap at which point he went back to hero work.
