Games that made you feel Anonymous 10/01/2024 (Tue) 21:03:26 Id: 7bcdfa No. 1021542
This thread isn't specifically about sadness, it can be a wide range of things. Wherever you felt surprise at how good or shit a game was, anger due to something that happened in game or external factors, excitement at an unexpected announcement or at an extremely cool set piece or moment, as long as the game elicited a strong emotion out of you while playing. You can go with something that you played recently or one of your favorite games. I'll give one of my favorites, Nier Automata. It's a basic choice, but it's the first time I remember a game being able to make me react to something strongly. I had already thoroughly enjoyed the game but by the time I had gotten to Ending E and the credits sequence the game really got to me. It was amazing, the way the music was synced to the scene and how hopeful it felt after seeing so many characters die shitty deaths just really hit hard. It's the second time a game has gotten me teary eyed. Looking forward to hearing what you anons have to say!

First one that immediately comes to mind for me is Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm 1. Everything about this game from the atmosphere, gameplay, voice lines, map design, and soundtrack perfectly captures the "mythos" of both the Eastern Front and the Pacific Theater.

>>1021568 Nah, just a pale imitation of an actual good game

>>1021542 Games with really good rain effects/sounds usually make me pause my gaming and just enjoy the ambience. It tends to make me reflect on things.

Webm related was always the game that made me feel the most. F.E.A.R. also made me feel anger, poor Alma, i wanted to avenge her.
>>1021569 I highly disagree, both games were good in their own ways

All good things must come to an end even though you tried so hard to fight against the tide, and that's fine. Accept that your end is someone else's beginning.
>>1021601 >It uploaded as a mp3 file. Well now there isn't any spoilers. Go play 13 sentinels:aegis rim. I will not stop shilling this game.
>>1021604 No way, fag.
>>1021604 >shilling a game with 100k sales >also punlished by fatlus ????
>>1021604 I only realized afterwards a mistake that I had made. Do not worry about it. Just going to re-write my post quickly. 13 sentinels is funny game. A loli will call you on the phone and tell you she is teleporting everyone to 1945 japan. This doesn't make any sense until you are about 70% through the game. It makes me feel a lot of things, Confusion most of all. At the end of it all though there is genuine happiness.
>>1021607 >Vanillaware games being dismissed because "Fatlus" >bringing up sales like some kind of redditor The only problem with it is the (((localization))) and the fact that the Vita version was cancelled which I still am pissed about. Atlus deserves to burn for what they did to the game, but Vanillaware's games don't deserve to be treated like they're some throwaway shit, kill yourself.
Really easy and obvious pick, but I really felt strong melancholy at the end of Earthbound. Maybe I can't even express why very efficiently, but I'll try. What struck me was the very end where you walk Paula home as Ness, saying goodbye to your friends, even Poo and Jeff, whom you'd probably not ever see again. Everything returned to normal, erasing the need for a superhero like Ness again in the world, obviously if there's no evil then there's also no need for heroics either. They return to their - comparatively - dull and boring lives. It might be a selfish feeling since they still got to experience what nobody else in the world could have, but it's still that kind of homecoming when the sun sets and it's time to put away the toys and the fun and games and excitement and face reality once more. Again, didn't make me cry, but it did make me feel heavy. Wistful. Less heavy was Rhythm Doctor, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I went into it totally blind and wasn't at all expecting some of the fun ideas some of the boss fights in the game got up to. I really wish more games did that. Kind of breaking the fourth wall but also increasing your immersion, strangely enough. Last one, Ace Combat 2. This was my first foray into the AC series just about two years ago now, and I gotta say I fell in love with it. I've never been a lover of the idea of being a pilot, haven't got the stomach for it, but this game made me feel like a real pilot. It came as a complete surprise, but I felt powerful, in control, agile, etc. I really was shocked that there was a landing sequence as well, and landing on an aircraft carrier made me feel like I was in my youth playing Top Gun, except it was much easier. Gotta say, I felt like I was on top of the fuckin world when I successfully landed it on that carrier. It got me feeling giddy. Can't forget to mention the awesome soundtrack for that particular game.

I miss my mom, bros...
>>1021651 >Vanillaware games those are mostly shit, anon, sorry >>1021697 mine is alive, but in another country... I miss her
>>1021699 >Vanillaware games are mostly shit Unicorn Overlord isn't shit.
Morrowind has a certain magic to it that I havent quite felt in any other game. Like its a genuine adventure. You feel small, and you get to grow into someone strong and important. Or not. And this isnt just blind nostalgia, I played Morrowind for the first time in my early 20s, it really is special.
>>1022249 Morrowind also felt properly magical and alien. Too many RPGs fall into generic fantasy, Oblivion and Skyrim included, but wandering around the giant mushrooms and the swamps and seeing the silt striders as fast travel points really felt surreal, even on original Xbox hardware.

heh i got a bit misty eyed
A recent example? Octopath Traveler 2. The stories were very simple but they were great at conveying a variety of emotions and were great stories in their own right. The finale was also amazing too. Just a really good RPG in spite of the odd premise of "8 disjointed stories", though it does a good job of linking them together with the finale. Xenoblade and Xenoblade 2 were also games that gave me big feels. Though I ended up liking Xenoblade 2 more. Both are really fun games and also have very well-written stories. Would write more on it but feel like complete shit right now.
>>1022290 Write more on it when you don't feel like complete shit.
It might be the normalfag option, but the original Metal Gear Solid when Sniper Wolf died. Also the original Walking Dead Telltale game when Lee died.
>>1022356 If you're going to spoiler something, at least leave the name of the games unspoiled so people will know what to expect from your post, fag.
