Asscreed Shadows delayed AGAIN Anonymous 01/09/2025 (Thu) 19:25:58 Id: 8de81b No. 1059141 >>1059176 >>1059426 >>1059456 >>1061394 >>1066219 >>1066229
This just in, Assassin's Creed: Shadows has been delayed another two months from January 9th to March 20th. This comes directly after the report from "People Make Games" who I'm not going to link to since they're massive faggots, where one of their support studios "Brandoville" is charged with abusing Indonesia developers to make assets for the upcoming game. Not to mention the outright fuckery going on with Sweet Baby Inc and general disrespect towards Japanese culture, and you have a game that's set to crash and burn when it releases this March. This is on top of the Guillemot brothers desperately trying to retain control of the company and is trying to go private as the Tencent buyout has currently haulted according to Insider-Gaming. This is ON TOP of the failures of Star Wars, Avatar, Skull and Bones, and XDefiant with some of their failing projects far exceeding 100 million. Finally Ubisoft is likely to go private in 2025 with people within Ubisoft themselves believing that nothing will actually change if an acquisition would take place. Ubisoft is FUCKED https://archive.ph/wip/ZhFH8 https://archive.ph/wip/luh03
I CAN'T SHEATHE
>>1059144 You're taking my breath away, anon.
My predictions >game releases >gets the typical anti-woke backlash and becomes the talking point of the month >casuals still play it and like it >probably gets good reviews? >will be a success, the hype usual articles about it peaking on the UK box charts or breaking some obscure sales record are written >probably still an internal disappointment when it sells 5-7 million instead some fucking absurd milestone of like 25 million >won't be anywhere near the earthshattering blockbuster Ubisoft needs to save the company >stock rallies a few weeks/months before Ubisoft goes back into their downward spiral AssCreed and Far Cry are the only games Ubisoft releases that consistently make money, despite all the controversy surrounding it, I expect Shadows will be the same. I do not expect Shadows to be the fairy god mother that waves a wand and solves all of Ubisoft's problems.
>>1059154 >probably gets good reviews? Oh this game will be shilled even harder than Veilguard, expect perfect 10s across the board. The journos will wear out the kneepads sucking off the BBC.

Quota hires, outsourcing & nigger worship remain ever-present cancers of this trash industry. Hope the commiefornia fires will purge some of it from the U.S. at least.
I really want ubisoft to be so desperate they actually hire japanese historians to revise all the elements of the game but because jap nationalists inherently go against everything ubishit stands for either 1 of 2 things happen: - Either execs tell the trannies to shut up and just do what the nips say, the game comes out and it's met with a lukewarm to mildly negative reception; - Or the trannies fight back against any changes the nips put forward (including removing the last fentanyl samurai) and the game never comes out.
>>1059154 Ass Creed already failed for Ubisoft once not too long ago (Mirage), Prince of Persia failed, last Far Cry disappointed Ubisoft as well. I think it will sell 1 to 2 million and that's still a complete disaster. If it sold more it'd be a solid enough number to present and calm down the investors with so Ubisoft wouldn't have delayed it before while returning the pre-order money, so I think you're far overestimating the numbers.
I have never played an AssCreed game in my life, is any of them actually fun? Maybe that pirate-themed one?
>>1059141 (OP) My hope is this puts Ubisoft in the ground. Permanently.
>>1059175 Mainly just 1, 2, and some of 4.
>>1059175 I haven't either but from all reports the pirate one is the best one among most people. Those who played and loved the original Ezio games might disagree with that. If I was going to play an Ass Creed game it would probably be the pirate one. Personally I looked into the setting and lore a little bit back when the first few games had come out and I thought it was retarded so I ignored it ever since. Every single thing I've heard about the series since has just confirmed that that initial decision was presciently brilliant.
>>1059177 >some of 4. What are other games where the vehicle section is incredibly fun but the game becomes dogshit the second you are forced to leave it?
Didn't we have a Ubisoft diversity hire give an absolutely scathing rant of how horrible it is to work with them?
They just know this will never sell, they just know that this is their only chance to not get bought by the Chinese and that they will fail. We're gonna laugh even harder once this comes out.
>>1059154 >>stock rallies a few weeks/months before Ubisoft goes back into their downward spiral And then they get another transfusion of american tax payer money and continue to produce this garbage for the coming years.
>>1059193 Wasn't that a QA tester and he wasn't all that negative? They were nice, but incompetent.
Oh no! They're going to miss their debut during Lack Of History Month! Think of the DEI funding they'll lose!
>>1059212 I hope they release exactly when something good actually drops and completely buries it.
>>1059215 That's what was happening with KCD2
>>1059216 About that... pic leaked. Some anons on cuckchan were saying it's fake but it looks really well faked if that's the case so I dunno, take it with a grain of salt I guess.

>>1059218 Model looks off
>>1059175 I've only played the first two, and honestly they're very generic action adventure games. AC1 especially is the same four missions over and over. 2 is better but it just made me want to play Sly Cooper.

>>1059296 AN SHIIIT
>>1059141 (OP) Since niggers are retarded, maybe Yasuke retarded the game.
>>1059218 >a nigger >lying Yes, and? Why is this out of character?
>>1059141 (OP) They're gonna add more niggers to the game
Something I just learned, they have delayed the game to March 20th, which happens to be the 30th anniversary of the Tokyo sarin gas terror attack. At this point, they're doing this on purpose, this isn't a series of unfortunate accidents. They are trying to seduce Tencent into buying them by saying they would drop this turd in front of the Japanese on this precise dare.
>>1059459 >seduce Tencent into buying them Honestly at this point I'd rather the Chinks to have them and be done with it.
>>1059430 I thought that was jews.
>>1059459 Does it matter? If gta 6 came out on 9/11 most people wouldn't care, although that game will be goty.
>>1059463 Nips are squirrely about things though.
>>1059460 I want them to DIE without Trudeau around anymore to bail them out with government gibs, not get a new sugar daddy so they can keep pouring garbage.
>>1059456 I want them to make every Japanese and Portuguese black, but make Yasuke white with blond hair and blue eyes.
>>1059218 Did the anons on cuckchan say what looks fake?
>>1059508 They were saying it was made by r/gamingcirlejerk and posting the pic with some weird photoshop filter over it that I didn't quite understand, but implied that the nog is not part of the original pic.
>>1059461 Niggers stole lying from jews. What, you thought they had a monopoly?
>>1059469 They made an entire Pokémon game about the 9/11 attacks, so I think they can handle it.
>>1059578 Yeah, but that was an American thing, so nips don't care. Nips making a game about the Tokyo sarin gas terror attack and releasing it on it's 30th anniversary is something they wouldn't do. There are reasons to believe that the original ending of Evanghelion had something to do with a gas attack, but because of what happened at that point in time, they had to change the ending fast.
EXCLUSIVE: Ubisoft Seemingly Prepping for Bankruptcy Ahead of Assassin’s Creed Shadows Release as Past Failures Spell Almost Certain Doom https://archive.ph/xMHAR >The end might be near for Ubisoft. The year has barely started, and it seems as though the former giant of the gaming industry is showing more signs of decline as it seemingly prepares for bankruptcy ahead of the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. In our previous article, we highlighted Ubisoft’s abysmal credit rating, rooted in troubling financial metrics such as a €1.4 billion net debt, plummeting market cap down over 85% in the past four years, and an unsustainable workforce of 18,666 employees costing an estimated €746.6 million annually. These indicators painted a bleak picture of a company teetering on the edge of financial ruin. >Now, on January 9, 2025, Ubisoft announced that it has appointed leading advisors to review and pursue various transformational strategic and capitalistic options to “extract the best value for stakeholders. What does this mean? On paper, it suggests Ubisoft has hired consultants to address the company’s strategic missteps from recent years. However, in practice, this move aligns more closely with preparations to sell off valuable assets such as intellectual properties like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Rainbow Six, streaming rights, or other goods, and possibly edge closer to bankruptcy. >This announcement comes on the heels of yet another delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, now pushed from February to March. Coupled with declining sales from Star Wars Outlaws and the cancellation of XDefiant, it seems Ubisoft’s financial woes are far worse than initially anticipated. Could this be the end for Ubisoft, not even one month into 2025? First, let’s examine why this move might signal Ubisoft conceding to bankruptcy or even preparing to be sold off entirely. >Back in 2012, when THQ filed for bankruptcy, the company made a similar move before its eventual collapse. Just like Ubisoft, THQ knew exactly what it was doing and for whom it was doing it. The initial step of appointing leading advisors to explore “transformational strategic options” is a standard procedure for any company on the verge of a merger or asset sale. However, in Ubisoft’s case, this announcement—just as it was for THQ—serves as a signal to investors that the company is following all legal and regulatory steps before implementing drastic changes that may benefit some stakeholders but are more likely to leave others at a loss. >Bankruptcy might indeed be imminent, as Ubisoft’s announcement aligns with patterns seen in other companies before they spiraled into bankruptcy and were taken over by courts. For example, THQ, Atari, and Midway Games all made similar moves before their eventual downfall. These steps often aim to maintain a semblance of control and to prepare stakeholders for the inevitable. >So, what is Ubisoft aiming for? Looking at its announcement and the strategy to cut €200 million in costs, it seems this may be nothing more than a red herring, distracting from what are likely the company’s final days. Much like THQ, Ubisoft’s planned asset sales and cost reductions might serve to prolong operations just long enough to make it appear more attractive to a potential buyer. However, the reality is that such a relatively small cut in the face of its ever-increasing debt will do little to change the course. Bankruptcy courts may already be preparing to step in and oversee Ubisoft’s descent into insolvency. >It’s far more probable that these leading advisors have been brought on to determine, as Ubisoft’s own announcement states, the “best” way to manage this situation. That might involve minimizing losses for major stakeholders while ensuring that executives walk away with generous severance packages. THQ’s bankruptcy followed a similar pattern, where top executives exited with substantial payouts despite the company’s collapse. The €200 million in cost reductions may, in reality, be a war chest to fund severance payouts during the impending bankruptcy. With over 18,000 employees still on Ubisoft’s books, unless massive layoffs are announced immediately, many could be entitled to severance before the company folds. Unfortunately, it’s far more likely that the majority of employees will be left with little, while executives walk away with their “golden parachutes.” >Another sign that this may indeed be the case is the further delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows from February to March. Why is this relevant? It reveals a lack of confidence in the product. More worryingly, the announcement of this delay came just one day before the advisors’ appointment was made public. This suggests that pre-orders for Shadows were so low that Ubisoft already knew the game wouldn’t be able to save it from mounting financial debt. >In retrospect, based on the poor sales of Star Wars Outlaws and the recent cancellation of XDefiant, it’s estimated that Ubisoft would have needed Assassin’s Creed Shadows to generate at least €1 billion in sales. This level of revenue, achievable by only a handful of games in such a short timeframe, would have been necessary to keep them afloat long enough to secure additional credit and temporarily manage their liabilities. However, Ubisoft’s actions indicate that the numbers aren’t showing this potential. If there were no concerns about the pre-order numbers for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, this delay might not have occurred. Delaying a major release dents investor confidence and impacts stock prices—two things Ubisoft cannot afford to jeopardize right now. Yet, the delay was announced, further confirming that cracks are growing within the company and that it is preparing for an inevitable collapse. >In our last article, we estimated Ubisoft’s credit rating to be CCC—an abysmal rating indicating that bankruptcy is imminent unless drastic changes occur. These drastic changes could include layoffs, asset sales, game cancellations, and severe operational restructuring. However, Ubisoft seems to have taken its first steps toward accepting bankruptcy instead of implementing these changes, which might have given the company a fighting chance. Why is that? The answer likely lies in their crippling debt. With no feasible way to offset liabilities through the release of new products, Ubisoft has effectively trapped itself in a cycle of underperformance. They are unable to generate enough revenue to move from the red into the black. As a result, it seems their best course of action now is to prepare for the inevitable by stabilizing operations just long enough to ease the transition into bankruptcy proceedings. >But let’s explore whether Ubisoft could still save itself. If we assume Ubisoft is not actually preparing for bankruptcy—what are its options? A buyout or asset sale would likely be the next step, but even selling some of its assets wouldn’t cover the cost of its debt. As of now, Ubisoft’s entire valuation is estimated at around $1.6 billion. This means Ubisoft cannot expect to sell its entire Assassin’s Creed franchise for anything near $1.6 billion, as a potential buyer might instead purchase the entire company outright for the same price. Imagine this: a franchise that once earned billions is now valued at less than its peak earnings during the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, all due to Ubisoft’s financial chaos. Because of its massive debt, Ubisoft would likely have to sell its most valuable franchises, such as Assassin’s Creed, for a fraction of their worth. Selling assets is therefore not a viable option, as any other assets up for sale would be viewed by potential buyers as far less valuable than the price required to keep Ubisoft afloat. >In short, any attempt at asset sales would leave Ubisoft unable to fund the production of a game capable of pulling it out of the red. Its low stock price and poor valuation have effectively trapped the entire company. To illustrate, if a chicken lays valuable eggs and the farmer wants to sell the eggs for $30, but the chicken itself is valued at only $10 because of the farmer’s debt, a smart buyer would simply purchase the chicken. This is the dilemma Ubisoft faces, and Chinese company Tencent, an Ubisoft investor that may be poised to buyout the entire operation, undoubtedly understands this. Rumors of a Tencent buyout persist, but as we mentioned in our previous article, Tencent would benefit more from letting Ubisoft enter bankruptcy proceedings and acquiring its intellectual properties at auction without inheriting its debt. So, what other options does Ubisoft have? >Layoffs and restructuring could be considered, but it’s likely too late for that. With over 18,000 employees, a significant restructuring and layoff strategy would take at least one to two years to yield financial benefits. However, Ubisoft’s mounting debt and poor investment credit rating make it unlikely that they can secure the financial stability needed to implement such long-term strategies. In fact, layoffs and restructuring could harm investor confidence further, especially as Ubisoft currently has only one upcoming product, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, that might appeal to gamers—and even that title seems to lack the anticipated enthusiasm. How about a buyout? Could Tencent or another company purchase Ubisoft outright? At a valuation of $1.6 billion, Tencent could afford to buy the company. However, Tencent would also inherit 18,000 employees and Ubisoft’s debt, not to mention other obligations such as financial incentives tied to Skull & Bones with the Singaporean government or other undisclosed liabilities. >While Tencent could simply lay off employees post-acquisition, taking on such liabilities may outweigh the potential benefits. Tencent might prefer to wait for Ubisoft to enter bankruptcy proceedings, allowing them to bid for key franchises during an auction without incurring these additional costs. Of course, in such a scenario, Tencent may have to compete with other companies for these assets, but the risks and costs would be far lower than buying Ubisoft outright. As it stands, we estimate there’s a 60% chance that Ubisoft is proceeding with a bankruptcy strategy, a 30% chance of an acquisition or merger, and only a 10% chance of restructuring recovery without bankruptcy. Ubisoft seems to be sailing its last voyage this year, hitting an iceberg in January, sinking slowly through March, and potentially drowning entirely by June or July, when bankruptcy proceedings could reach their conclusion.

>>1059670 Now you see these are much better, though not all of them are about bankruptcy. I think Ubishit will get bought out before they'd get to the point of needing to restructure their debt, they own a lot of IP and have an absurd number of studios. They've had interested buyers before but they've always rejected them. They're such a huge company there's really only three groups that could reasonably afford them: Microsoft, Sony, and Tencent. Well, Nintendo could probably also afford them, but I wouldn't see them wanting to make a purchase like that. Or maybe more, Ubi has lost a staggering amount of their value. That opens up a lot of other potential buyers.
(162.11 KB 776x1024 Winner.jpg)

>>1059677 >Ubishit will get bought out I'll only believe that if they fire people in mass, which won't happen because they're tied to work laws in several EU and Asian countries. No company wants that mess with 20K employees and billions of debt. Just to put it in perspective, EA and Activision have around 10-15K people working for them. Remember when Discovery bought out Warner bros? Yeah, no company wants that liability, they'll be selling their assets soon.
>>1059652 t. desperate jew losing everything.

>>1059634 Similar to Concord, it takes years for bad business decisions to finally have consequences but when it eventually does happen... Ah, the implosion can keep you warm for weeks.
>>1059700 Concord was Firewalker's first game and they imploded almost immediately, but I think I understand what you mean? Sony was investing heavily into GaaS shit and it backfired very, very hard. Now they have their worst-selling PlayStation console with an almost non-existent library, when they could have spent the time and resources on fleshing out their catalog.
>>1059690 I just want their grubby hands off Rayman, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and World in Conflict.
>>1059698 The IPs will be auctioned off to other companies or studios.
>>1059690 >>1059707 >>1059708 Ubisoft is fucked because none of its properties are worth continuing except Just Dance (which is practically turn key as an IP) plus maybe the Tom Clancy video game license (which I would not be surprised has contract details making it non-transferable and revert back to the estate under certain conditions like bankruptcy or failure to produce a new entry in X years) and Far Cry (take it back to basics, cut the bloat and retarded politics of the last one and you could get people to buy something like Far Cry: The Wild West or Far Cry: Thinly-Veiled-Yugoslav Wars without stupidly high marketing or budget). Plenty of back catalog you can sell for a small but near totally passive income, but their big IPs have either become such convoluted clusterfucks nobody really cares about the connecting plot anymore (AssCreed. The last time anyone cared was because vikings were the in thing when Valhalla launched, and before that the ship combat being surprisingly decent. Nobody gives a fuck about the assassin v. Templar or modern day stuff), are so generic you can make your own entry into the genre without the cost and dead weight of Ubisoft's IPs (why do you need the Watch Dogs or Driver IP to make a GTA clone? Why do you need the The Crew IP to make a racing game? They don't bring anything to the table), or are so has been new games would just scare people more than hype them if anything (Rayman, Beyond Good and Evil. Might and Magic could get some Russian oligarchs in a bidding war of double digit millions because there's plenty of obsessive Heroes of fans there, but you can't sell to those people anymore so that's out)
>>1059710 Blood Dragon 2 would save the company if good.
>>1059710 I simply meant that there will be a new IP owner to litigate infractions, but piracy is hardly enforced against anyway.
>>1059634 The future they chose. >>1059700 It does feel good watching them finally burn. >>1059710 Ubishit had so many potential ways to make decent money and they chose to ignore or mismanage all of them.

>>1059714 Almost seems purposefully set at that level to ensure they sink and someone else buys them off at low cost and lays off 30-40% of staff.
>>1059710 >Ubisoft is fucked because none of its properties are worth continuing Ubisoft is a European company, so majority of the IPs (That they didn't buy from another company) are for series that never premired in American nor Asia. The most "recent" of those IPs to get a rival was Zombi WAY back in 2012. >why do you need the Watch Dogs or Driver IP to make a GTA clone? Watch_Dogs is more than a GTA clone, and it's exactly because of the game trying to be a "GTA clone" in execution that the title mostly suffers. The best moments in WD are the actual investigations and stealthing. In some ways, it actually continues that original "open-world stealth" aspects the first AssCreed had, and that they then proceeded to demphasizes in the following games because journalists "people" found the idea of actually learning about the person you were going to kill to be a rather "boring" concept. And to be quite honest, it actually is rather boring in the way the game executes the process. Rather than leave the player to find out clues and investigate the target for themselves, you run around a map completing objectives until you're finally "granted" the chance to kill your target. The game would have really benefit had they never started the now infamous "Ubisoft open-world sandbox", and/or given the player the ability to decide if they kill their targets or let them live based on what the investigation turns up and see how it effects the story.

>>1059720 More like the western financing web is so fucked that execs have lived through 60 years of incestuous growth - investment - buyout stock loop that have lost any ability to comprehend non-exponential growth. The entire business model of large corporations is short term profit and they bloat their companies to show the big numbers go up whiles the company rots at the roots. I image there is gonna a huge tech industry crash in the coming decade because all talent has been chased out and has been replaced with poo drones. So when push comes to shove they will suddenly realized that all they have been doing for all these years is shuffled money and don't have anything tangible thing to show.

>>1059175 I played a bit of 1, 2, 3, and Black Flag. First three got repetitive fast. I finished the 1st one, and dropped off about half way from the other two. Black Flag's Pirate gameplay keeps things fresh. Pirate part of the game is more fun than the assassins nonsense but walking around cities is a decent enough break from sailing once in a while. Locations are more distinct too, since they are ports and colonial settlements of different powers - each with its own coat of point and twist. Black Flag has more effort put into it too compared to other ones maybe except for the 2nd one. There are little neat things in it, like sailors singing shantys when on the sea. 4th game dropped the dull Desmond and the templars plot and that helps too. Story is alright and self-contained. Some people suck off the 2nd game and Ezio but that was basically the 1st game but more refined gameplay and dumbed down story. 1st game is better story wise because it was more minimalist, left some things to imagination, and implied deeper themes. 2nd game and other titles with Ezio as the protagonist are shallow >>1059459 Almost every time Ubisoft makes an announcement it's stepping into something that upsets Japanese. It's as if there is a plant within the company tasked with making the game as difficult to market as possible. >>1059634 Beyond God and Evil 2 is definitely not happening and it's probably for the best. It will be interesting to see who ends up with rights to Assassin's Creed if Ubisoft's properties get auctioned. Is there anyone who could outbid Sony, Microsoft, and Tencent? >>1059756 It's part this, part Ubisoft making dumb decisions.
>>1060277 Yeah but they also did the half-tori gate thing and Yasuke's sword just being Zoro's from one piece, the wrong Japanese. It's simply too many fuckups so they no longer get the benefit of the doubt.

So the art book for AssCreed Niggers leaked and it has a Were/Was character in it: https://exhentai.org/g/3216773/171ad4c27e/ https://pixeldrain.com/u/JQCSYBkH Just for reference, the character having a "deep reverence for poetry, art, and nature" is completely at odds with being a tranny for several reasons. On the one hand, Japan was very stringent about how the traditional arts were practiced for each sex prior to the Edo period. For men, to be considered a "cultured" person, you were required to read and write in traditional Chinese and express an utmost adoration for China in your writings. Women didn't have this restriction placed upon them, and so they tended to write almost exlusively in Japanese. This resulted in a stark contrast where the men would talk about a country they never saw (To the point that almost all Japanese peotry was almost the same) while the women would talk about their petty, simple, and boring lives as maidens of the court (Which is why The Tale of Genji is so revered). Now there were instances of men writing works in Japanese, however these men were required to right those works as if they were from the "female perspective" because it was considered "low form" for proper work by a male author to be written in Japanese. In addition to these contrasts of artistic development before the Edo period, you also have the developments during it. Where Japan became extremely stringent in returning to it's "Chinese roots" of Confucianism, where man and women had exclusive roles, responsibilities, and attitudes. There were "allocations" for things like pubic crossdressing as in the case of the onnagata (Later during the period), but those were theatre performers acting out their craft and were still expected in all other instances to fulfil their duties as men when not in the public eye. That's not to mention, repeating as I just said, that there were strict "rules" as to what you could carry out in each craft. Poetry had to constantly be timeless, puppet drama were constantly dynamic, Nou was all about subtly, etc. There were rules that each art form had to adhere, and failing to do so branded that creator as a "failure" (At worst) or ecclectic (At best). To put it simply, the existence of a tranny in Adzuchi-Momoyama era Japan does not work, And if you want to see what a "true" rebel" of that era was, then look at Matsunaga Teitoku, the creator of the haiku, who even at first dismissed his artistic contribution as nothing more than bouts of frustrated witticisms for realizing that he could never be a "true" traditional Japanese poet.

Apparently, they even fucked up with the French localization by giving some jewtuber a tertiary role and poor directions for the VA. Made waves among the Frogs and the dude had to make an apology/context video about it. Quick rundown >French jewtuber named Louis-San, who does videos about Japan and its culture, was asked to lend his voice for a character named Tokubei >Guy isn't a voice actor at all, so that's pretty much e-celeb hiring from Ubisoft for that quick buck (guy fucking did it for free, on top of it) >Jewtuber and the director who assisted him could only use the English VA as a basis, who sounded somewhat goofy, no images or video for context >Both jewtuber and the director concluded that he had to stick with roughly the same level and roll with it >The result doesn't match the scene at all as a result, Jewtuber sounds off the fucking wall like he was part of the cast for the infamous French dub of Hokuto no Ken >Everyone laughed at the "performance" while the jewtuber was absolutely horrified at the result >Jewtuber had to make a video basically ripping through his acting and adding "context" and BTS footage to control the damage It's pretty much Ubisoft just hiring some dude because he makes videos about Japan, only to fuck up his 15 minutes of fame and turning it into 15 minutes of shame. At this point, all of these fuckups from Ubisoft are on purpose.

>>1068933 >Ubisoft trying to gaslight people into saying "we're making this as faithful as possible, That's Asscreed in a nutsack. >"We're making this historically correct only were also not because bash the fash and also all the bad people we hate throughout history were Templars and the good people were Assassins and they were also marxists who supported gay rights." The entire series has always been a bit of a shitshow and it's only gotten worse and less subtle over time.
>>1068933 I kind of get the "this guy existed, what if his stats were buffed and a good goy" angle, I haven't played any of their games but it seems to be what every game does. Things like watermelons and cherry blossoms happening at the same time are incompetence though. The originals didn't seem good so I never felt like playing their world tour. The brand actively hurt any interest I would have had for the boat or viking ones.
>>1069293 The main issue with that is AC has never let you play as a historical character before. They've always been secondary characters you meet. The reason they broke this rule is obvious: they wanted you to play as a nigger blacking Japan and needed an excuse to let that happen so they cracked open their history books for the one nigger they could find. In the old days Yasuke would have been someone your character would have met rather than someone you played as. But that wasn't good enough for current year.
>>1068959 Well yeah, but the extent of the sham this time is an order of magnitude stupider. Even when they got caught on things before it's been like "well we are making a video game and taking creative liberties, and of course we have fantasy/sci-fi elements" even if it was pozzed, this time they just went for fucking months saying "WE ARE MAKING THE MOST AUTHENTIC JAPANESE EXPERIENCE EVER" basically inviting people to nitpick the fuck out of it. Like I am sure if you go into any other recent game about Japan you can point out inconsistency in the architecture or plants but they drafted their own terms and immediately fumbled, literally just because they want to lie about this nigger so hard that he might magically become a real samurai.
>>1068875 I do enjoy seeing people using Nioh's Yasuke as a "gotcha" when talking about Shadows and being historically accurate when Nioh is the furthest thing from historically accurate and Team Ninja were never out here saying they were consulting "historians" and having wikipedia pages falsified to push this house pet as something more than he was.
>>1068875 The premise sounds similar to that Samurai western game I once saw. I'd play it like crazy.
>>1068875 >>1069352 If they wanted to use a Japanese game as a "gotcha" for including Yasuke, they could have pointed to Samurai Warriors 5. Though I'm not quite sure if it's proving a point of how insignificant and forgotten of a person he was historically since it took the series 16 games (Including the XL expansion packs) across 17 years before he even appeared. >>1068917 >>1069358 It's also sort of the premise for Red Steel 2, but the Kutsagari is a white guy in that game. Also Nioh has you fighting demons in samurai pokemon stand battles so trying to compare Asscum and Nioh is dumb as shit.
>>1069352 >>1069364 >>1069473 It's interesting that in these games, Ranmaru is either barely present or not present at all so I'm under the assumption that KT got mad with all the Nobunaga buttfucking Ranmaru content throughout the years and replaced him with Yasuke as the loyal retainer.

These have since been removed, but not before they were saved and reposted online. <TheGamer also spotted a now-removed listing on US auction site Mercari which showed the seller holding multiple copies of the game in their hands. >>1074233 >Time does not exist to the nigger, there is only the present, the now. A cop yells, "do not run I will [in the future] shoot!" This phrase is meaningless to the nigger. In the nigger's mind he has two choices: be detained by the cops, or run and be free. That the cop will start shooting 5 seconds into the future is incomprehensible to the nigger. Niggers are living in a science fiction parallel universe where there is no continuity with themselves 15-seconds into the future. As a White man you think you are still you 15-seconds in the future, not so to the nigger. The nigger sees no relation to himself 15-seconds in the future, it is a completely different person. Their interests are unrelated if not opposed. >Once you understand that a nigger cares as much about himself 15-seconds into the future as you do about some random nigger, all of a sudden all a nigger's decisions makes sense. Why go into obscene amounts of debt for some chrome rims? Some other random nigger will have to pay it back instead of you. Why rape some random White girl? Some other random nigger will go to jail not you. Etc. Niggers are literally free of all consequences for their actions as they've broken the cause effect chain through nigger magic. >Now you can also appreciate the injustice of niggers being shot or put in jail. If a nigger shot at a cop 15-seconds ago, that was a completely different random nigger to the nigger. The nigger getting shot was just living his life (in an alternate universe where you forever live in one moment) and is now being shot for literally no reason. >Black mamas have been trying to explain this to thick White people for years with the shorthand 'He dindu nuffin'. These obese negresses are trying to explain that, while to you it appears that her nigger son committed some horrific act of violence, in fact that was actually a completely different nigger in a parallel universe. Niggers only exist in the moment, and in the moment the negress is speaking (the only moment she has ever known), her nigger son literally has not done anything wrong. >Being a nigger is like reliving Groundhog Day over forever, but in 15-second clips. The next time you interact with a nigger or goldfish remember that."

From what I understand, all the the personal pronouns that exist in Japanese, like almost every other aspect of it, are highly context and situational dependent. Pronouns like 僕 and あたし are gender neutral in-and-of-themselves, and can be used by either sex, but it's seen as extremely confrontational or abrupt for a woman to use the former while the latter you would think is the guy putting on a performance.

Imagine you just finished a game, and because you enjoyed it so much and have some respect for the peopl,e who worked on it, you decide to stay in for the credits when you are hit with this shit: Licensing WebKit WebKit is open source software with portions licensed under the LGPL and BSD licenses available here. GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 2, June 1991 Copyright (C) 1991 Free Software Foundation, Inc. 51 Franklin St, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA 02110-1301, USA Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed. (This is the first released version of the library GPL. It is numbered 2 because it goes with version 2 of the ordinary GPL.) Preamble The licenses for most software are designed to take away your freedom to share and change it. By contrast, the GNU General Public Licenses are intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change free software–to make sure the software is free for all its users. This license, the Library General Public License, applies to some specially designated Free Software Foundation software, and to any other libraries whose authors decide to use it. You can use it for your libraries, too. When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for this service if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs; and that you know you can do these things. To protect your rights, we need to make restrictions that forbid anyone to deny you these rights or to ask you to surrender the rights. These restrictions translate to certain responsibilities for you if you distribute copies of the library, or if you modify it. For example, if you distribute copies of the library, whether gratis or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that we gave you. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source code. If you link a program with the library, you must provide complete object files to the recipients so that they can relink them with the library, after making changes to the library and recompiling it. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights. Our method of protecting your rights has two steps: (1) copyright the library, and (2) offer you this license which gives you legal permission to copy, distribute and/or modify the library. Also, for each distributor’s protection, we want to make certain that everyone understands that there is no warranty for this free library. If the library is modified by someone else and passed on, we want its recipients to know that what they have is not the original version, so that any problems introduced by others will not reflect on the original authors’ reputations. Finally, any free program is threatened constantly by software patents. We wish to avoid the danger that companies distributing free software will individually obtain patent licenses, thus in effect transforming the program into proprietary software. To prevent this, we have made it clear that any patent must be licensed for everyone’s free use or not licensed at all. Most GNU software, including some libraries, is covered by the ordinary GNU General Public License, which was designed for utility programs. This license, the GNU Library General Public License, applies to certain designated libraries. This license is quite different from the ordinary one; be sure to read it in full, and don’t assume that anything in it is the same as in the ordinary license. The reason we have a separate public license for some libraries is that they blur the distinction we usually make between modifying or adding to a program and simply using it. Linking a program with a library, without changing the library, is in some sense simply using the library, and is analogous to running a utility program or application program. However, in a textual and legal sense, the linked executable is a combined work, a derivative of the original library, and the ordinary General Public License treats it as such. Because of this blurred distinction, using the ordinary General Public License for libraries did not effectively promote software sharing, because most developers did not use the libraries. We concluded that weaker conditions might promote sharing better.
[Expand Post]However, unrestricted linking of non-free programs would deprive the users of those programs of all benefit from the free status of the libraries themselves. This Library General Public License is intended to permit developers of non-free programs to use free libraries, while preserving your freedom as a user of such programs to change the free libraries that are incorporated in them. (We have not seen how to achieve this as regards changes in header files, but we have achieved it as regards changes in the actual functions of the Library.) The hope is that this will lead to faster development of free libraries. The precise terms and conditions for copying, distribution and modification follow. Pay close attention to the difference between a “work based on the library” and a “work that uses the library”. The former contains code derived from the library, while the latter only works together with the library. Note that it is possible for a library to be covered by the ordinary General Public License rather than by this special one. TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR COPYING, DISTRIBUTION AND MODIFICATION 0. This License Agreement applies to any software library which contains a notice placed by the copyright holder or other authorized party saying it may be distributed under the terms of this Library General Public License (also called “this License”). Each licensee is addressed as “you”. A “library” means a collection of software functions and/or data prepared so as to be conveniently linked with application programs (which use some of those functions and data) to form executables. The “Library”, below, refers to any such software library or work which has been distributed under these terms. A “work based on the Library” means either the Library or any derivative work under copyright law: that is to say, a work containing the Library or a portion of it, either verbatim or with modifications and/or translated straightforwardly into another language. (Hereinafter, translation is included without limitation in the term “modification”.) “Source code” for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it. For a library, complete source code means all the source code for all modules it contains, plus any associated interface definition files, plus the scripts used to control compilation and installation of the library. Activities other than copying, distribution and modification are not covered by this License; they are outside its scope. The act of running a program using the Library is not restricted, and output from such a program is covered only if its contents constitute a work based on the Library (independent of the use of the Library in a tool for writing it). Whether that is true depends on what the Library does and what the program that uses the Library does. 1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Library’s complete source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact all the notices that refer to this License and to the absence of any warranty; and distribute a copy of this License along with the Library. You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee. 2. You may modify your copy or copies of the Library or any portion of it, thus forming a work based on the Library, and copy and distribute such modifications or work under the terms of Section 1 above, provided that you also meet all of these conditions: a) The modified work must itself be a software library. b) You must cause the files modified to carry prominent notices stating that you changed the files and the date of any change. c) You must cause the whole of the work to be licensed at no charge to all third parties under the terms of this License. d) If a facility in the modified Library refers to a function or a table of data to be supplied by an application program that uses the facility, other than as an argument passed when the facility is invoked, then you must make a good faith effort to ensure that, in the event an application does not supply such function or table, the facility still operates, and performs whatever part of its purpose remains meaningful. (For example, a function in a library to compute square roots has a purpose that is entirely well-defined independent of the application. Therefore, Subsection 2d requires that any application-supplied function or table used by this function must be optional: if the application does not supply it, the square root function must still compute square roots.) These requirements apply to the modified work as a whole. If identifiable sections of that work are not derived from the Library, and can be reasonably considered independent and separate works in themselves, then this License, and its terms, do not apply to those sections when you distribute them as separate works. But when you distribute the same sections as part of a whole which is a work based on the Library, the distribution of the whole must be on the terms of this License, whose permissions for other licensees extend to the entire whole, and thus to each and every part regardless of who wrote it. Thus, it is not the intent of this section to claim rights or contest your rights to work written entirely by you; rather, the intent is to exercise the right to control the distribution of derivative or collective works based on the Library. In addition, mere aggregation of another work not based on the Library with the Library (or with a work based on the Library) on a volume of a storage or distribution medium does not bring the other work under the scope of this License. 3. You may opt to apply the terms of the ordinary GNU General Public License instead of this License to a given copy of the Library. To do this, you must alter all the notices that refer to this License, so that they refer to the ordinary GNU General Public License, version 2, instead of to this License. (If a newer version than version 2 of the ordinary GNU General Public License has appeared, then you can specify that version instead if you wish.) Do not make any other change in these notices. Once this change is made in a given copy, it is irreversible for that copy, so the ordinary GNU General Public License applies to all subsequent copies and derivative works made from that copy. This option is useful when you wish to copy part of the code of the Library into a program that is not a library. >Message is too long, keep it under 12000 characters.

It's no wonder Ubisoft is in the shitter when they waste money on bullshit like that. You really don't need to have the player watch 2 hours of cutscenes and get 30 minutes of walking for every 5 minutes of gameplay. If they spent the budget from that on improving gameplay, maybe the end result wouldn't stink, and they'd still have enough money for another game, but I guess if Ubisoft was acting smartly, it wouldn't be Ubisoft.

Or maybe they are not technically lying, but are just stretching the truth. Do you happen to know where they are reporting this 1 million player milestone?
>>1081279 >I dont think they legally can lie about it but those numbers really dont add up to steam charts. You're forgetting the NoGames5 and SexBox releases, and the pre-orders, and the people just buying the game but having yet to play it. I had no doubt the game will probably still sell a couple million despite everything that has happened, but number is not profitable for a game that spent over $250 million in development estimates (don't even mention marketing). >>1081286 >It might depend on where and how they are reporting it. >>1081286 >There are strict laws against lying about numbers and whatnot on financial reports, but the rules could be different when it comes to tweets, for example Yeah, thats what I was thinking, so it must be true but as you said they could be stretching the truth. I doubt its ubisoft plus doing those numbers. Maybe it audience aren't PC players at all.
>>1081273 >we made a billion dollar failure of a game and risk an international incident as a fuck you to anime fans Really doubt it's the case. My theory is that they just tried to copy Ghost of Tsushima after it recieved award nominations and decent success. But they did this for money, because they said before that a Japan setting would be "boring" years ago, and even during development, they still felt no passion for Japan. So they copied and pasted that RPG AssCreed formula they've been doing since they can only do that when they don'tfeel any thrill, added a battle pass to it (from what I've seen), and since the DEI mafia they paid to bully themselves into submission wanted niggers even in feudal Japan, they asked other consultants who made it up about Nobunaga's black retainer, without checking if he was full of shit.
>>1081210 >>1081212 this is concord tier, holy shit.

>>1081279 It's simple. They say "players", so that will include >everyone who tested the game (technically played it, so a player) >everyone who's playing it on ubisoft+ >everyone gifted the game With the previous blatant botting of AC: Shadows videos, I can easily envision them gifting their games to Pajeets so they count as players they can show to their investors. Also that is not a good number anyway, they need many millions more to break even, let alone make any profit.

I am not familiar with the intricacies of corporation twitter rules and what counts as lying, and if it is against the law, but I wouldn't be shocked if there were some loopholes. >>1081296 Using the term "players" is deliberate, for sure. Even if they did stick to people who actually opened the game, it could count everyone who downloaded the game and only played a few minutes of it. All things considered, 1 million players isn't even that much of a milestone for Ubisoft. They may be starting to fail as a company, but they are still have a reputation, and there are many people out there that will buy or mindlessly preorder a Ubisoft or AC game just because it has an Ubisoft/ AC label on the cover. AC has been releasing games consistently over the past few years too, so it doesn't have the disadvantage Dragon Age Veilguard had. It wouldn't be too hard to drum up a million people who are uninformed, or willingly ignore, the controversy and just click the buy button simply because they want something to play. Something to give them a surge of adrenaline. We all know people will buy a simple bag or t-shirt for hundreds of dollars because it has a specific brand name attached to it.

The only way I’d play a game with a nigger in Japan is if it’s about them time-traveling back to the past. Picture this: a nigger gets his hands on a time machine and turns out to be the Yasuke from Shadows. His big plan? Kill Nobunaga and marry his wife. That messes up the future big time, so you and your crew have to go back to feudal Japan and take out all the niggers there. It would be a mix between an action rpg with FPS elements. Written by Aaron McGruder and character design by Tetsuya Nomura.

>>1081301 >All things considered, 1 million players isn't even that much of a milestone for Ubisoft. If you want to see how bad this could get, let's look at SE and the case of FF16. The game sold three million copies over the course of three days (And only an additional half a million in the near two years since). Last week, SE declared the game a "disappointment" despite only costing $60 million to make: https://archive.ph/53ka3 For reference, that was also the development budget for FF12, not accounting for inflation. Now with AssCreed Shadows, the estimated budget for THAT game is "starting" at $200 million (Just on development alone). This is speculation, we don't know the actual numbers. What this means is that the game will have to pull in well over several million units sold in for the game to even "break even" on the development. Adding in the marketing, I wouldn't be surprised if the game has to sell over 15 million before they even start seeing a profit.

There have been lots of little hints that Ubisoft actually hates Japan. Casuals fucking love AssCreed and are very apathetic to cultwar controversy, and that goes in both directions; they didn't care about the left-wing backlash to Hogwarts and they didn't care about the right-wing backlash to Kingdom Come 2. The problem is nothing else Ubishit puts out sells well, they launched a big internal investigation to find out why. Ubisoft releases so many games you've probably never heard of; Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, BattleCore Arena, Mighty Quest Rogue Palace, OddBallers, Wild Arena Survivors, all recent and all being these nothing games that are strangely obscure for such a huge company. Want to know how Ubisoft had over 20,000 employees? That had so many of them working on random shit like those. The Edgerunners situation is more than just the show itself. Even then, the show would've turned out a lot shittier if the studio making it didn't put their foot down on a ton of things they wanted to include and badger CDProjectRed into letting them do it. Ubisoft is too retarded to see the full picture and would get some Chinese shovelware animation studio to make it and try to rule it from the top-down and end up with some garbage, and not do the second marketing push either, if they even had the money to do the idea in the first place at all (which they do not at this point).
>>1081984 >Despite what anons might want to believe, AssCreed generally sells well. >>1081998 >Keep in mind that the last time AssCreed sold five million, it was for the "worst" entry in the entire series (III) and the one that put it on hiatus for a few years (Syndicate). Series tend to sell based in large part on how good their last game was. It's why Battle Network 4 has the highest sales of the series and killed it: People saw 3 was awesome, bought 4 in mass, got shit, and dropped the series leading to 5 and 6 having poor sales by comparison.

So, Ubisoy announced 1M "players" on the first day, then 2M on the second and 3M on the third, this despite their Steam numbers being anemic and even worse than Veilguard. I've been thinking, what metric could they possibly be using to count "players" to such an absurdly overinflated degree? and I think they might be counting game bootups as "players". It's the only metric I can think of that could possibly increase by 1M per day with such low numbers on Steam.
>>1082183 Game companies figured out that they can obfuscate sales number with tactics like including refunds, including game bundles like the Steam Game Pass, people who got the game for free, copies sold to retailers but not retailer's sale numbers, etc, etc. It's all just lying to please investors, and optics to make it seem like their games aren't the steaming piles of shit that they are.

>>1082205 Skull and Bones and Star Wars Outlaws, anon. Yes, normalfags can be retarded, but there ARE limits. I don't think you understand what position Ubisoft are in and just how much this game had to make. There's no way Shadows is making that. Not with Steam numbers that low. The fact that Ubisoft is saying "players" and not "sales" is extremely telling. Dragon Age played this exact same trick "over 1.5 million engagement" which meant it sold less than a million copies probably. Reminder, DAV did BETTER than Shadows on Steam. Yes, I expect Shadows will probably do better on consoles than Veilguard did, but even if he game sells five million copies (and it could easily be doing worse than that) that isn't enough for how fucking expensive this game was (and that's to say nothing for marketing). They needed this to do Valhalla numbers, and that game was released when everyone was locked inside their homes. It was pretty much doomed from the outset. All this will do is measure the extent of their failure.
>>1082220 Minor correction here: Today, Shadows surpassed Veilguard's peak player count on Steam Charts (64627 vs 60656). Consoles would need to carry Shadows hard if it wants to break even. It's still looking grim for Ubisoft, no matter how much flowery marketing language they want to use. I wouldn't be surprised if they went even deeper into meme-tier statistics, such as the number of times players performed X action in-game.

The sheer amount of love and positivity we've received has been incredibly heartwarming," Ubisoft said. "Seeing your excitement, your thoughtful reactions, and your joy has meant the world to us. After years of hard work, there's nothing more rewarding than watching the community connect with what we've created." Also in the post, Ubisoft said its staffers won't be able to reply directly to every message, but assured fans that "we're listening." >"The entire development team has been reading your posts--the celebrations, the feedback, the theories--and it's been inspiring. This is just the beginning for Shadows, and we're thrilled to see the game evolve with you by our side." One particularly popular and upvoted reply to Ubisoft's post came from someone who said they've been playing games for decades and have enjoyed the Assassin's Creed series for a long time. >"I'm an old lady gamer (62 now, gaming since I was 28) who fell in love with AC many moons ago," WaywardJake wrote. Thank you from the bottom of my wrinkly old heart. xx" Shadows reached 2 million players over its first weekend, with a source telling Variety that Shadows had the second-best first-day sales revenue for any Assassin's Creed game, only beaten by 2020's Valhalla. GameSpot's Assassin's Creed Shadows review scored the game an 8/10. "Assassin's Creed Shadows is an absolute blast to play," reviewer Jordan Ramée said. Not a fucking word of that is true. Ass Cream Dindu nigger actor says that woman could beat his nigger in a fight: "We bucks getting broken in the face of #GirlPower" https://archive.ph/sBRIn >Assassin's Creed Shadows is out now and it's been a phenomenal launch for the series. It already has over two million players, surpassing the likes of Origins and Odyssey. The actors who play the dual protagonists sit down and have a conversation about their characters, but the question we all want answered is: who would beat who? "Who wins in a fight between Yasuke and Naoe?" asks Tongayi Chirisa, the actor behind the legendary samurai. "This one we need to say at the same time," says Masumi, the actor who portrays the stealthy shinobi. In unison, the pair say Naoe and then fistbump. "How did you know," Masumi asks? "You're a ninja. You could be right here and I'll never know," Chirisa explains, gesturing to his neck. "Especially with that big a** helmet of mine, you could just snap me [from] miles away, like you're throwing something at me." >Assassin's Creed Shadows reverses roles to show off Naoe's combat and Yasuke's stealth, and I'm suddenly sold on playing Yasuke like a clumsy Snake in Metal Gear Solid 3. "I'm in the shadows," Masumi agrees. Naoe is much more stealth focused, whereas Yasuke deals with enemies through sheer strength. In all the past Assassin's Creed games, the sneaky assassin bests the tough guys in thick armor, so it stands to reason Naoe would come out on top here, too, and it's nice the actors both agree. Our Assassin's Creed Shadows review notes "Yasuke is a powerhouse in combat, capable of taking on entire garrisons" while "Naoe is the opposite – she's far more fragile, but much better at stealth and parkour." And now we know who would win in a fight, the stealthy ninja, not the armored samurai. At least, according to the actors, anyway.
>>1082451 >>"I'm in the shadows," Masumi agrees. She probably wanted to just try and be funny by referencing the game's title here, but ironically a ninja would do the opposite if she was trying to take down a samurai who is somehow over 6 feet tall and nearly twice her body weight. A female shinobi would likely dress like a normal citizen, be among the crowd, and go for a stab just like any other assassin in any other society. There wouldn't be a fight. Because if there was, a samurai would win every time. This is where an actual Japanese historical advisor would come in handy. >>Yasuke is a powerhouse in combat, capable of taking on entire garrisons" while "Naoe is the opposite – she's far more fragile, but much better at stealth and parkour." >"fragile" A strong, combatively capable man and a weaker woman who sneaks around and can only get in hits if she is stealthy? If this was said about any other game it would be considered to be a statement that upholds "harmful gender stereotypes." Ironically, the devs are nice and quiet about it this time.
>>1082408 You'd think he, being an actual nip, would have more of an understanding of why Shadows is disliked more than anyone. Instead I think he is focused on the outrage rather than the source of the outrage - what brought it on.
>>1082471 A developer can sometimes have a skewed perspective on the creation process, they may simply be impressed at what is being created since they know the process of making something themselves. I don't think Kamiya is one to pay too much attention to current culture or controversies, the man pretty content in just playing the Arcade games of his youth, and making games himself.
>>1082492 Thinking about it a bit more, I think it makes sense for Kamiya to be a bit out of his depth on this one. Japan's public in general is only just recently being more aware of how annoying the west can be, since there had been " Live stream influencers" going over to Japan and causing a Ruckus and making complete assholes of themselves for the sake of views and engagement, and likely other Foreigners going to Japan and not conforming to their societal standards. This probably caused a quick snowball effect of japan quickly wanting to bring more attention to this problem, and AC Shadows really not being something they wanted to see right now, so it's drawn a bunch of attention in Japan as well. Kamiya being someone who mostly just keeps to himself might have just turned on the TV or something one day, and saw all this Hubbub, and is questioning what suddenly happened, since if it's all dropped on you at once you might have a hard time processing that this was something that had been slowly cooking for years. Most of the issues were outside of Japan, things they didn't deal with themselves, AC Shadows is directly concerning Japan.
They are claiming >"Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the series’ second biggest launch ever" https://archive.ph/l0iZy >AC Shadows sold 27% on PC and 73% on consoles. If that's true, that does make sense. Anyone smart nowadays is going to be playing on PC and have more then enough reason to not buy the game when they can play all kinds of other things. The people still playing on consoles can't be helped in their problems, they either don't know any better, don't care, or are to set in their ways to seek the better choices.

>Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t the hit Ubisoft “desperately needs,” analyst says https://archive.ph/Fo8JD <As mentioned, Ubisoft triumphantly announced a couple of days ago that two million players have already picked up Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Today, it’s been reported by VGC that in terms of sales revenue, Shadows has achieved the second biggest launch in the series, behind only 2020’s Valhalla. By being available on Steam on day one, it’s also now the leading game in the series on Valve’s platform. <... <MIDiA Research’s Rhys Elliott says that “the numbers do NOT reflect [the] smash hit Ubisoft desperately needs” and predicts that “given the scope and development time of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the title has almost certainly not broken-even yet.” <While launching on Steam straight away was certainly a boon for the game, Elliot compares Shadows’ numbers on the platform to the port of Ghost of Tsushima, which treads on similar ground to the new Assassin’s Creed. Despite it being a port of a then-four-year-old game, Ghost of Tsushima sold roughly twice as many copies on Steam at launch than Shadows, according to data pulled from Alinea Analytics. <Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Steam sales also pale in comparison to some of 2025’s true mega hits so far. Three days after launch, Shadows has apparently sold 310,000 copies. In a similar time frame, Split Fiction shifted 882,500 units on Steam, and the gargantuan Monster Hunter Wilds sold almost ten times better than Shadows with 3.7 million units, according to Alinea’s data. >"Due to the deception about a 'correction patch' for Assassin's Creed Shadows, the shrine where the misappropriation occurred has banned all tourist entry. >All photography, videography, and live streaming are prohibited. https://archive.ph/IjCW1

>>1082448 >as if giving the player more options to tailor an experience to their liking is a bad thing Difficulty sliders aren’t DEI, but they are GAY.
>>1082448 >>1082678 Difficulty sliders actually are DEI, at least the modern implementation of them. Traditionally, the difference in game difficulties would effect content from damage numbers to spawn rates to game AI to even weapon usage. And these modes existed for the purposes of "testing" that the player actually understood the games mechanics (At best) or just giving them an "impossible challenge" (At worst) as an in-joke (See the "Nightmare" difficulty in the original Doom) or to leech coins from your pocket (Like many arcade games). TODAY, game difficulties don't do any of this at all. At the very "least", they just turn enemies into bullet sponges while making the player effectively powerless. But what ends up typically happening with modern games is that higher difficulties actually disable very vital game mechanics that the player needs in order to progress (Let alone succeed) in the game. And the tactic that a lot of modern developers have taken is that if you ever complain about how "terrible" or "easy" a modern game is, their most common deflection tactic is ridicule you for not turning up the difficulty and disabling those game mechanics like you're "suppose to" because a "true tryhard gamer" wouldn't "need" all these mechanics in the first place, meaning that you're not a "true gamer" if you're complaining. So they can declare that you're someone not worth listening. But like I said, the game was designed around the player having access to these mechanics in the first place. So at the end of the day, difficulty sliders became another tool they can use as an attempt to bring in Progressive ideals of "belonging".

Assassin's Creed Shadows violates Japanese commercial law!!! So for those not in the know, in Japan, the Japanese Imperial Seal, also known as the Chrysanthemum Crest, cannot legally be used for commercial purposes. This has been a Japanese law since 1880, with an update to said law being issued in 1929 that allows for "some" commercial usage within certain restrictions: https://archive.ph/K7u7b Well, apparently Ubisoft's crack team of legal experts and professional localizers did not know about this circumstance and included a version of said Chrysanthemum Crest in the game and violates Japanese law as a result of this: https://archive.ph/1RgGC https://twiit.com/yamato_shigure7/status/1905310503205044409 https://invidio.us/watch?v=rk4tMCC5EC4

So it seems like soon Far Cry, Ass Creed and Rainbow Six will go to Tencent who doesn't seem to give a shit about anything else, which is understandable. Who's going to pick the other stuff?

>>1083382 There's also Anno, but I don't know who really can pick it up. Paradox has enough of their own series, and other strategy-like devs typically do something different.
