Kingdom Hearts thread Anonymous 03/01/2025 (Sat) 15:53:33 Id: 2549ae No. 1075456
DARKITY DARK DARKNESS Some thread questions >Favorite entry? >Favorite Heartless? >Favorite Keyblade? >Favorite character? >Favorite world? We're now in one of the longest gaps between mainline KH games. If KH4 comes out next year, they'll tie the the seven-year gap between Dream Drop Distance to Kingdom Hearts III. I miss major games being a regular occurrence, we've been almost exclusively getting flash and mobileshit for a decade plus now and it does not help the last major entry was a huge disappointment. On that note, is there any way to even play KHX and its spinoffs anymore? I have no idea if there's a preserved version archivists host, or if they were worth playing to begin with. They had really cute art.

MARRY THE DARKNESS
I completely forgot they announced Kingdom Hearts 4. That was in 2022 and they've said nothing about it since, not sure why they decided to even announce it if it was so far away.
>>1075465 They've been silent about it because the next game, Missing-Link, is in development hell and has catching delays for years. Of course, Missing-Link is another fucking gacha mobile game. Granted, it looks like the best of the mobileshit so far, but that's not saying much.
>>1075456 >Favorite entry? DOOL WEELD >Favorite Heartless? DOOL WEELD >Favorite Keyblade? DOOL WEELD >Favorite character? DOOL WEELD >Favorite world? DOOL WEELD
I have only played the first game and thought it was overrated crap. >Favourite world Tarzan, I like Tarzan.

I have a question for KH fags. Is Zidane in any of them? He is my favourite FF protag and looking at pics of aqua is making me want to try KH again. People talk about the original and the disney parts but not the FF parts.
>>1075561 Excellent Parasols >first game KH1 and its improved remix are kinda jank. The combat is floaty as hell, a lot of the worlds are terribly designed (I'd actually say Deep Jungle, the Tarzan world, is the worst funnily enough) and the end-game has a huge amount of grind if you want to 100%. Almost anybody would say KHII, BBS, and 3D are better. KH1 is also an early PS2 game and compared to a lot of other Q1 2002 PS2 releases it holds up well, but it's rough to go back to 23 years later. The synthesis grind is probably the worst part of the game, but all the best gear is locked behind it. Here's an actual crafting sheet. >Crystal Crown <Lucid Crystal x5 <Power Crystal x1 <Shiny Crystal x1 <Blazing Stone x3 <Frost Stone x3 15 items, the Lucid Crystal alone has a whopping 1% drop rate and drops from exactly two sources in the game. They're all like this, synthesis items take so goddamn long to get and that serves only to massively bloat out the game's play time from about 26 hours casually to over 60 hours completionist. I advise new players to not 100% the games, it's misery. Though I enjoy KH1, it's flawed. >>1075571 No, the FF characters are mostly from VIII and X. In fact, I don't think there were any FF characters in KHIII whatsoever. Nomura (series director) said they'll return in IV, but so far we don't know much about it.
>>1075571 Cloud, Squall, and Tidus are the protags that show up. Like >>1075578 said it's mostly VII, VIII, and X.
(1.85 MB 1445x1808 1573625636794.png)

>>1075579 >>1075578 How disappointing. >No ff characters in 3. But why? Like you couldn't put the onion knight or the OG warrior of light anywhere? not even a single dude from the new games?
>>1075589 There's a lot of speculation over III's development, but according to statements by Nomura, Disney and Pixar were a fucking nightmare to work with compared to previous games. It shows through as III is way more Disney focused than most Kingdom Hearts titles, it's the most Disney orientated entry since the very first Kingdom Hearts. Fans point to Arendelle, the Frozen world, as an example; Sora and the gang have essentially no relevance in the world's plot as it awkwardly recaps the events of the movie in an extremely dragged out level that contents as one of the series' longest. Contrast that with Halloween Town or Space Paranoids which are entirely original stories in their respective IPs. Here's the interview https://archive.is/KBksk They were given tons of guidelines and some were very strict. There were no FF characters because "so many original characters that need to resolve their own problems and issues. And because their issues and problems are very difficult, there just hasn't been that much space to fit Final Fantasy characters so far." KHIII's development was also heavily impacted by the disaster that was Final Fantasy XIII Versus. That trainwreck took so incredibly long and suffered the FFXV reboot that by the time they were finally able to work on KHIII, it had to be heavily rushed. Though Squeenix claims development started in 2015, an engine switch and restart of progress meant it only really entered full development in 2017, meaning the game was made likely made within two years and under intense creative restrictions. You can really feel it in the final product, which plays like a pure compromise in every department. The game should have been delayed, all the way to 2021 if they had to. So many things went wrong and it came out feeling like such an obligation rather than the triumphant third entry. I completely understand why they're going straight to Kingdom Hearts VI after Missing-Link, that wasn't what KHIII should have been.
>Kingdom Hearts VI *IV
>>1075617 >>1075613 I have no faith in KH4
>>1075467 >another mobile spinoff OH. MY FAVORITE. >>1075625 Considering the awful circumstances 3 was developed under, it turned out surprisingly well. It's a lot better than Chain of Memories and I thought that game was alright.
>>1075626 True, but I think that they're going full ham on the Disney properties while just limiting the SE influence to Final Fantasy if they're even going to put FF characters into KH4. That and the most recent mainline FF game was a more mature game with a more mature content, themes and content. I think that IF KH4 will bring in the Star Wars and Marvel Universe than Square Enix should bring more IPs or even other video game companies into the mix like Bandai Namco and Capcom. I'll be honest, I just wanna see how a Vergil secret boss fight would work in an ARPG

>>1075634 >but I think that they're going full ham on the Disney properties while just limiting the SE influence to Final Fantasy if they're even going to put FF characters into KH4 The world they showed off in the KH4 trailer is an entirely original one, Quadratum. I think 4 might lean away from Disney properties a bit the way the handheld games did.
>>1075727 I mean, there were hints of Star Wars and Marvel being in KH4. I'd like to see less Disney, but they also own the franchise.
Kingdom Hearts is doomed as there is no longer any cultural relevance for a Disney, Final Fantasy crossover. They both lack Ubiquity. >Disney Disney's reach has shrunk to the point where I do not think Kingdom Hearts can stay profitable. Kids these days haven't experienced Disney in the same way that I did. Disney has a massive volume of content that was available to pretty much anyone with basic cable. It wasn't just the tent pole movies. They were on TV. They were on the Radio and played songs that directed you to the TV. They were in malls which helped put Disney's IP into the minds of people. Sure nobody bought anything from the stores, but they served as a kind of marketing tool. They expanded upon those movies with spin off TV shows that were easily available to almost everyone, not just die hard Disney fans. I didn't even care for the TV series that much, sometimes due to the way the timeslots worked out, whatever was on Disney was the least worst thing to watch. Now everything is on demand. There is no reason to watch a show if it isn't your favorite show. You didn't need to see the Disney film to still be aware of a Disney IP. You didn't need a Disney subscription to be aware of a Disney IP. Disney no longer has the same ubiquity it once had. >Final Fantasy Final Fantasy was once the Call of Duty of gaming. In terms of CONSOLE/PC releases >1997 FFVII >1998 Outlier >1999 FFVIII >2000 FFIX >2001 FFX >2002 FFXI >2003 FFX-2 With the exception of 1998, they release one game a year. I'm going to refer to this time period as the golden era. I'm, not going to bother laying out Call of Duty's release timeline, we all know what it looks like. During this golden era everyone who played video games pretty much played at least one Final Fantasy game, and had a favorite. 6 games in the span of 7 years. 5 Original stories in the span of 7 years. Now? 5 Original stories in the span of 23 years. 2002 was 23 years ago. Square doesn't have any franchises that have the same ubiquity that Final Fantasy had.
>>1075613 I'm hoping that Yozora being real is a sign that square enix wants to make their own super crossover with a bunch of their own franchises. I feel like they have enough franchise recognition on their own that they don't really need Disney to make a Kingdom Hearts style game. I knew current Disney would be hard to work with so when I saw him I was thinking he was their escape route. Doubly so when they start saying "oh yeah this guy is basically alternate universe Sora", despite looking nothing like him
>>1075756 Nomura was actually in between making Verum Rex real or making KHIV, and ultimately he went with KHIV. After it, I imagine we might get an actual Verum Rex game assuming he doesn't lose interest. He's talked about eventually retiring and wanting to end the Kingdom Hearts series.
(66.93 KB 500x715 KHXionUnzipped.JPG)

>>1075757 I think, given how long it's been, it'll actually kind of end up being both together.
>>1075456 >Favorite entry? I don't know. I like the feeling of Kingdom Hearts I the most, but II definitely had better gameplay. But II is also where the autism really went full throttle for the first time. Also the worlds weren't as comfy. Also II is where it's revealed that Ansem from the first game isn't really Ansem. I hate that twist so much. >>1075735 Everyone still watches the Disney movies, though. And the fact that the IPs aren't everywhere anymore may actually make more people want to play KH because the supply for all those characters isn't outweighing the demand anymore. But even if that weren't the case, I still see people, children and adults, wearing clothes with those characters all the time.
>>1075787 I work with children. They don't have the slightest clue who is on their shirts. I have seen kids with shirts with bands and asked them what their favorite songs are and 10/10 their response is "I don't know who that is. I just like the shirt."
>>1075901 As a teacher I see more kids with Five Nights at Freddy's shit on their lunch boxes than any Disney stuff. I see more Disney merch in the classrooms of my fellow teachers than on any of the kids.
>>1075735 Didn't Tactics come out in 1998?
>>1076386 97 in JP 98 in USA >>1076347 Same. Also applies to Harry Potter. Hell, one of the kids only knew Donald Duck from the Anti-Nazi propaganda episodes where he seig heils and thought all Donald Duck content was pro Nazi because he only saw clips of it on tiktok and didn't see the whole episode.

Something funny about KHIII is how it has a Steam themed Keyblade. I think it's one of the nicer designs, it's not a busy mess.
Anybody ever hear of this? I just discovered there's a mod that tries to give Kingdom Hearts 2 Devil May Cry-styled combat. It looks fun.
>>1078356 I have actually, although I recall the mod being for KH1 rather than KH2
>>1078356 This isn't just a mod, it's a whole fangame with an original story. The details elude me at the moment, but I believe it's an AU where the awakening of Sora was a failure and Roxas manages to escape the simulation. It heavily reworks the game and takes a lot of cues from Days. Some worlds are swapped out, like Atlantis being replaced by Traverse Town. It's not finished, but you can download the alpha. They're making good progress.
>>1078356 >>1078400 As I recall someone is making a Days remake in UE5 as well. Obviously there's the melonworks HD port of Days already which works in the cutscenes from the movie but that is at it's core still a DS game. But this is apparently a very different thing.
>>1077665 That isn't steam themed, its just a reskin
>>1075734 Leaning away doesn't mean stopping entirely, even Days had Disney elements and that game almost entirely focuses on KH lore and characters.
Is KH3 still considered to be a bad game? Haven't played it yet.
>>1089550 I think they fixed it with the DLC, unsure. I decided not to play it when they removed the FF characters.
>Missing Link still isn't out How the fuck does it take six years to develop a mobile game? >>1089550 It's fine, honestly. Disappointing is a better word to use for KH3, not "bad".
>>1089550 >>1089552 Kingdom Hearts 3 is actually very good, with the DLC. The main issue with Base KH3 is while it has good stuff in it, the game doesn't show off it's best aspects well enough. It probably the easiest to Mash to win out of all the games, so unless you go out of your way to Experiment, there is little reason to learn the games depth. The DLC adds some pretty good new story parts, like you get to play as Kairi for the first time ever in one fight, and she's a fucking Monster in combat, it's great. Thankfully mods let you play as all the characters outside of these small segments in the DLC. The best addition to the game with the DLC is just like most Final Mix versions, you get the Super Bosses, the Data Organization boss selection is a thing once again, so all the fights that were too easy in the base game now get to show their true Potential in the DLC. You also get the final DLC fight which is easily one of the toughest but also best fights not just in Kingdom Hearts, but action games in General. The DLC also very much improves the base game, since now you can use Pro-Codes to remove anything that makes the game too easy, and Tailor the difficulty to what you desire. I did a run on Beginner mode with all the Pro-Codes just for an a Achievement, and after you get far enough I'm sure that choosing Beginner didn't even matter anymore since the Stats of the bosses were so high, and mine were so low, so I might as well have chosen Critical for the few bonus Critical mode only Abilities that could have come in handy. KH3 still has some Rougher aspects, since I'm pretty sure they had to switch game engines mid-development, and that was likely a big setback for them, so that explains why the base came was kind of lacking when it came to extra content. The game doesn't even have a proper Colosseum, like KH1 and KH2 despite the fact Hercules is in the game. Without the DLC the game was very underwhelming, but with the DLC KH3 gets to show it's true potential. It's all worth it for that Final DLC boss fight, since it's actually some of the coolest shit in the entire franchise. Easily just as cool as Mysterious figure must have been for people playing KH2 Final mix and seeing him for the very first time.
Is it normal to play like a giant pussy during a KH2FM lvl 1 Crit playthrough?
>>1089921 Well you have two options. Play it safe to the point it's boring, or git gud, and learn how to predict, avoid, and counter all attacks. I'm not sure why you'd play a lvl 1 Crit playthrough it you didn't want to get skilled, but I suppose early on in the game before you unlock Vital abilities, it's okay to play it safe, and later once you get the good stuff you have more room for bing on the offensive.
>>1090199 My only defensive abilities so far is the regular block so I've just been avoiding enemies that aren't necessary so far and am now stuck at the Hades escape sequence.
>>1090223 Well then you probably need to be making more use of limits commands or summons, Chicken Little is actually a surprisingly useful summon early on, since he'll have an ability similar to Magnet, check back with Merlin when you can, since he'll probably have the charm to summon him. That being said, I still didn't get around to doing lvl 1 in KH2 myself, so I can only offer so much in terms of advice.

>>1110863 Not so much you, but the people coming in just saying "actually ur game sucks lmao" and nothing else, though some of those posts were deleted since I said that. >>1111037 There are a lot of female Heartless already but I don't question the vision. >And I would also add in Non Human women because I find it in bad taste that Kingdom Hearts is a series about traveling to different worlds and all the original worlds are populated by boring shitty humans. For crying out loud where are the aliens and robots and anthros? You mean non-enemy, original robot and elemental characters? That's never quite been Kingdom Hearts vibe. Though most of its non-humans aren't women, try Rogue Galaxy?

>>1110454 When it comes to Kingdom Hearts, you either go all in or not at all. If you are at all cynical about the concept, it's never going to work for you. Kingdom Hearts in its Narrative is entirely sincere in everything it does. It's not just a game that Features Disney characters and final fantasy characters. The entire game is about how cool it would be if you were a hero, and you got to visit all these different worlds and meet all these characters, and from Honest bonds with them. If you see Winnie the Pooh and your gut Instinct, isn't >"Hell yeah I want to hang out with Winnie the Pooh" But you also need to be able to bounce from that interaction with Winnie the Pooh, into later meeting Sephiroth, and being so Immersed and Invested you don't even notice how Fundamentally at odds the existence of those two characters is. These games aren't just a cash grab, they are as authentic to these franchises as possible with the exception that it's a different universe for the Final Fantasy characters, so they're Reinterpreted to fit the story, and they may not align exactly with their mainline FF counterparts. The best Kingdom Hearts worlds are the ones that aren't Directly retelling the stories of the Disney movies they are a part of, and are actually telling a New story for that world like Tron, The Tron world in KH2 isn't just a retelling of the Movie Tron, it's a continuation the Original Tron still happened without you. They didn't put Tron into the game because it was going to sell more copies, Tron had been a Dead franchise for years at that point. They picked Tron because they were inspired by the film. Seeing KH out of context can make it all seem like it's Ridiculous, but that's simply because KH isn't self conscious about what it is. It's going to turn one of the characters into the "Blind sword master" trope because it's cool, and because it fit that point in the story line. These games will actively get as much of the original voice actors as possible to reprise their roles for the characters, so if you at all like any of these characters it'll be like genuinely seeing them again. Hades for example has been voiced by James Woods, and he loves it when a new KH game is coming out because he gets to reprise that role, he just enjoys being Hades and you hear it in his Performance. This is all Not to mention the gameplay of KH is also very high quality.
>>1114003 >If you see Winnie the Pooh and your gut Instinct, isn't >"Hell yeah I want to hang out with Winnie the Pooh" I was going to finish that with "it's not gonna work" but I reformatted what I was writing. Regardless, the over all point is Kingdom Hearts is only going to work for you, if you see it and say "Yes. this is for me" You have to be able to look though the eyes you used to have as a kid again. It All obviously works much better when you actually are a kid when you first play KH.

Which map cards should I save? I can't trade them for moogle points so do I just discard them?
>>1111705 There's a video of him calling a cop a nazi kike so I think Disney is going to kick him from the franchise.
>>1134121 I haven't heard many people bring this up so I doubt it.
>>1134200 https://x.com/nypost/status/1913212438507348199 He tried to board a ski lift without any skis on and with his helmet on backwards
>>1131546 Well one thing you should be aware of is that while premium cards sound nice, they have a drawback. When you use a premium card it can't be reloaded normally, if you don't know that it can be easy to make the mistake of filling your deck with too many Premium cards. It's fine to have them if you are planning to use sleights anyway, but for normal use they're not reliable. so take that into Consideration when it comes to your premium drop map cards. As for the other map cards, if you care about going for 100% then depending on the map cards you have, you can use them to manipulate RNG. So that when an enemy is defeated they are guaranteed to drop their enemy card. There are plenty of videos and such to find the methods on manipulating RNG, so you'd know which cards you'd want to keep and which aren't a big deal. If you don't care about going for all the enemy cards then it really doesn't matter which cards you keep around and which ones you get rid off. It's just a good idea to keep the numbers and colors of the cards you have balanced. So that when you need those cards to open the special doors, you won't need to do a bunch of grinding because you don't have a Green 6 or something.
>>1134299 Meh seems small scale. It'll probably blow over by the time KH4 happens.
>>1110454 The gameplay and light RPG mechanics make my peepee diamond hard.

2>1>3>re:coded=>0.2>BBS=>DDD=>Re:CoM>days. This is the objective ranking, but since I am a merciful god I will grant you some leeway. Putting 1 over 2 is respectable, because 1 is the most soulful game in the series. BBS, DDD and Re:CoM are completely interchangeable. GBA CoMfags get the benefit of the doubt and can place it anywhere 1 below and 2. Just so that everyone here knows.
>>1138631 The Disney theme park rides were One of the most criticized aspects of KH3 and you can disable them entirely with the Pro-codes that come with the Re:Mind DLC. >>1138937 Every game in Kingdom Hearts has Redeemable qualities that give it a good reason to play it multiple times in my eyes. With the sole exception being Dream Drop Distance, because the Progression in that game is utter dog shit, where you need to pet your Nintendogs for 10 hours to get vital upgrades like Second Chance, Once More, and Leaf Bracer. I had to beat the final bosses without any of those, because I just wanted to finish the game, and those fights were entirely unbalanced without those abilities, and then after beating the game I actually grinded to get those abilities and that was the shittiest grind in the entire franchise. 358/3 is better than DDD for the simple fact you can entirely customize your loadout based on the mission you are undertaking. I went full on Magic build for most of the game, and there was very little grinding necessary. And even when I did grind to max level, it felt way less Tedious fighting Riku 100 times, then it did doing all the Nintendogs shit in DDD. I'd rather fight Mysterious figure as Tera multiple times then ever touch DDD again, dealing Mysterious figure is more reasonable to me then dealing with any of DDD's boring shit. When I first got DDD in 2012 I put it down and never tried playing it again for over a decade, I realize now I put it down in the first place, because it sucked, If it was actually good I would have keep playing it to the end. If someone doesn't like CoM or 358/2 then it's probably because they aren't putting enough creativity to making their build in combat actually fun.

>>1110454 KH2 is really tight gameplay-wise. As for the rest of the series it's one of those things where I think it jumped the shark ages ago but I've spent so much time with the franchise over the years I just wanna see it through to the end.
>>1139224 This is the most reasonable defense I have seen for days so far, but I did not enjoy the enemy design or the mission structure of the game especially bosses like ruler of the sky and the stealth mission respectively. Ruler of the skies is by far the worst mandatory boss fight in the series as far as I am concerned. I did also use magic when I replayed it after years, but it only made the game easier, but not enjoyable or engaging. I didn't rate Re:CoM high, but I did feel like there was potential in the gameplay and would play a sequel/stand alone series with the same battle system. which is I will relent on the gba version. However your post did make me consider to replay DDD and check how bad the nintendogs aspect is on a replay and reconsider it's rank, but days will never be above re:CoM or BBS especially not re:coded or any of the numbered titles.
>>1139884 I'll admit the story to Days carries it quite heavily, but I also find the game impressive that it took KH's gameplay and Faithfully put it on the DS, it just happens that Re:Coded took it a step further and did a better job in terms of gameplay complexity. I was also playing Days with Retro achievements, so I was more invested in the game then simply beating it, so I did plenty to add extra depth the game then is required to beat it.
>>1139962 I wasn't a fan of day's story at all so that didn't help me either.
KH4's so dead that there's managed to be two whole Star Wars celebrations since it's announcement and no confirmation of Endor actually being in the teaser.
>>1075465 Squeenix has a bad habit of announcing things too early it’s like a staple of the company to announce things early and go radio silent about it
>>1078400 >Atlantis being replaced by Traverse Town. God I love Traverse Town, would’ve been so cool to revisit it in vanilla KH2, glad it got a glow up in DDD
>>1181269 When was DQ 12 announced and when was the last time we heard about it?
>>1175746 >KH4's so dead Have you not learned any patience over the years? You'd think after KH3 was announced in 2013, and it released in 2019, People would take the hint that quality AAA video games take a long fucking time to make nowadays. I've gotten accustomed to waiting a Decade for sequels to games like DMC or Ninja Gaiden. >>1181269 Logos and CGI trailers have never meant shit, a game is only actually proven to be getting made when we see real gameplay footage. Everything before then might as well be Nonexistent, Remember Elder Scrolls 6 was announced in 2018, and you can bet your ass they weren't working on it at all, until after Starfield released in 2023.

What’s up Refugee Bros and Kingdom Hearts Friends
>>1228062 >KH4 will suffer the same fate I doubt it, KH3 not only needed to make good on like 8 games worth of building up plot points and needing to finally conclude all of them, it also suffered from Development troubles, and them needing to switch engines, which had to of been a huge set back. Until we hear about similar development problems with KH4, if the games development is smooth then it should be fine. KH4 is also a clean slate pretty much, the only real plot points were are gonna be following is the Master of Masters narrative, and the Mystery Box, and maybe we'll see some of the World Ends with you cast again. Everything else is pretty much just new shit, we really don't have any expectations now, since nobody knows where this story is going anymore. KH3's DLC proved that the dev team still had what it takes to make Kingdom Hearts good, KH3 just had problems during development holding back it's Potential. KH4 at the very least will be better than base KH3 is, because aside from the Graphical fidelity, you can simply tell it's content is way more bare bones than we've come to expect, Base KH3 being bare bones is an outlier for this franchise, it's not a trend yet.
>>1228211 I've always said KH3's problem (at least, storywise) is that it's not KH4. KH3D ostensibly WAS KH3 in literally every sense including name, and it broke the biggest rule every other "side game" followed: 'Sora doesn't know it happened.' Every single non-numbered game up to 3D, Sora either wasn't there or has zero recollection of its events, which makes going between the numbered games simple as the player could learn alongside him whatever is going on. It's why the divide of people who played CoM and who didn't doesn't affect KH2. Sora doesn't know any of these literal nobodies, nor does he give a shit. Half the OG Organization are just weird projections he fights (assuming Data Org/Absent Silhouettes are canon) and nothing more. 3D should have just been a Riku solo game where both of them get ready to go into the test but Sora slips too deep immediately, with Riku having to dig his way through Sora's dreams to wake his ass up. It also would've helped if BBS was a proper PS3 game since it's essentially 'KH0' but that ship had already sailed by then.
>>1228062 KH4 is being made under very different conditions to KH3, I don't know if it will be good but it won't turn out the same way as 3.
Honestly I would rather just have FF or SE worlds at this point for KH4, with KH3 it's proven that Disney doesn't want an anime boy touching their property in any shape or form. And if that's what we're going to get, the Disney worlds in KH4 are going to be a nightmare or completely discombobulated with sora and co. You can really feel that shit in KH3 as soon as the last Disney world is done they rush the plot hard as Sora rescues ventus and aqua within the same cutscene

Replaying Kingdom Hearts 3 for the first time since launch has been weird. I actually find the Disney Worlds to be more fun than they were the first time around (except Arendelle, though I'm more sad than annoyed thinking about the wasted potential caused by Disney refusing to let Square do anything fun with it), but the many retarded directions that the main plot goes in makes me feel angrier than before, too. At least I've got the main story out of the way, looking forward to finally beating the Nu Data Organization and Yozora this go around.
>>1075465 to be fair KH3 got its first trailer in 2013 and it took 5 years to come out
>>1234992 >Kingdom Hearts 4 is primed to sell badly and you know it >I don't know what else to say to you except that I'm being realistic. If you think Kingdom Hearts as a brand is this powerhouse juggernaut you are deluded. I don't know why you're stating any of this as if I'm anymore deluded than you are, when I also think my view point is reasonable and realistic. You're trying to make it seem like KH4 is destined to be a failure, when every single entire in the KH franchise has been a success. People have made fun of Kingdom Hearts writing, and calling it shit for ages, so that's not really a factor in how well the games sell. Base KH3 was underwelding and people were disappointed, but I didn't play KH3 at release, I only played it after the DLC came out, so I saw the base game was undercooked, but then the DLC had a bunch of really fun content. I just care about the game being fun to play, and the DLC for KH3 showed me they can still make KH's gameplay fun. That's all I need to think KH4 has a reasonable chance of being a good game. But the facts are we know almost nothing about KH4 so trying to prop it up as some guaranteed masterpiece, or doom saying it's gonna be shit, is pointless. There is nothing tangible to judge right now. The Data Org in KH3 and Yazora are all great fights, and that's give me reason to believe KH3's content being underwhelming was due to development circumstances. KH4 shouldn't have the same issues unless we see otherwise. If KH3's development went off without a hitch, and the base game is what we got, then there would be reason to worry, but that's not what happened. I don't care if KH4 is the best-selling game in the series or not, I just care if i'll enjoy playing it, but if we are gonna place bets on if KH4 will be successful or not? Then you'd have to be a stubborn retard to think it's going to underperform. Don't let your emotions cloud the facts. Disneyland has actually set up Kingdom Hearts shit before because KH is one of the few things associated with Modern Disney that people still give a fuck about. There is an entire generation of people who grew up with Kingdom Hearts who have now had kids and are indoctrinating them into this franchise. Kingdom Hearts is gonna do just fine.

>>1235631 >>1235666 >And if you need a famous recent Square Enix example look at the sales of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Square Enix themselves said the game sold disappointingly You're leaving out have the fact FF7 Rebirth did poorly was due to it being a PS5 Exclusive at launch, so the market for the game relied on PS5 owners instead of the entire rest of the market. >Remember the Cloud Switch versions? That kind of complication also hurts Kingdom Hearts You say that ignoring that KH collection is on Playstation, Xbox, and PC, Sure the Switch version being cloud only sucks, but they can easily just make a Switch 2 version of the collection, and then get that market again with a better product. You keep stating Kingdom Hearts is a mess, and I agree, but it's been a mess since 2006 when you needed to play a fucking GBA game to understand who half of the characters were in a sequel to a PS2 game. None of what Kingdom Hearts has gotten criticized for over the years has ever amounted to it's sales going down. You can personally think Nomura is a hack writer all you want, I really aren't Committed one way or the other when it comes to KH's writing, i'm just along for the ride at this point, but people still like Kingdom Hearts for it's story. You are very much underestimating how large and dedicated the Kingdom Hearts community is to this franchise. Your personal Criticisms of KH don't mean shit, when there is a far larger audience buying the games anyway. You can go a head and think KH4 is dogshit when it releases, people will still eat that shit up.
A lot of stuff has leaked about Missing Link over the last 6 months. Very briefly >Has been in development for over 6 years >Completely restarted development to better fit mobile >Its dev hell lead to a Kingdom Hearts Union X remake being cancelled >More stuff leaked from the 2024 build, will feature at least 20 Disney worlds >Supposedly only reason it hasn't been cancelled is because it contains signifiant story elements that tie into Kingdom Hearts 4 Don't you love gacha slop completely fucking the series over?
>>1353477 Is this Nomura's doing or just the SE suits who want to maximize cross-platform promotion?
>>1235820 >You can personally think Nomura is a hack writer all you want This isn't subjective or up for debate. It is objectively true. Absolutely no one can say that KH games have well written stories.
>>1353477 >Its dev hell lead to a Kingdom Hearts Union X remake being cancelled Good chance this probably would have been an actual console/PC game and not totally reliant on Gacha. Shame that died. >Supposedly only reason it hasn't been cancelled is because it contains signifiant story elements that tie into Kingdom Hearts 4 I'm so fucking sick of all these mobile games that SE keeps killing off after a few years being important to the plot. It was already hard keeping track of the story before the advent of the internet and all the games being easily available for one platform, but now we gotta stomach mobile games designed to suck all the money out the players pockets that don't even compare to modern Gacha games we are seeing now, much less the handheld games, and look up cutscenes to a dead game on (((Youtube))) to even understand what the hell's going on in KH4 because the in-game recap is going to miss important story beats like KH3's did. I just want to play my fun vidya and have a decent idea as to what's going on, but no, I have to keep on top of the story to the gacha prequels because Nomura wants to one-up Blazblue on how hard it is to keep track of the story and SE wants more money to waste because they think that making $100-million dollar games that requires a NASA supercomputer to run and an extra 1TB SSD to store the game on is a good idea.

>>1353583 It's hard to tell? It's probably a mixture. >>1356658 Absolutely no surprise, the game was in development for longer than Kingdom Hearts 3 was. Sometimes you have to look at a project and say "This isn't working". It being tied into KH4 was probably the only reason it survived this long, what really pisses me off is how KH4's development was based on this gacha slop launching first. There's a good chance KH4 would have been OUT by now if they didn't decide to make Missing Link first.

>>1356658 No more worthless spinoffs. Just main games from now on.
>>1356874 I'm not sad the gacha is dead. I'm sad there have been five years of wasted time with no projects because Square and Nomura assumed it would fill the gap.
>>1356658 >Missing Link is canceled GOOD. Now they can finally focus their efforts on KH4 instead of that Gacha crap. I promise you if they weren't focusing on Missing Link, we would have at least gotten another trailer for KH4 and possibly even a release year of 2027 instead of 2028 if lucky. If the story to Missing Link was THAT important, Nomura can just make it into a movie or something and either bundle it with KH4 or release it online.

Do any of you remember this from a few years ago? The Kingdom Hearts 2020 roadmap for the "Second Phase" of the series. I don't think I've ever seen a roadmap go well.

Some actual, honest-to-god screenshots of Kingdom Hearts 4. Square Enix appears to have hired This Man.
>>1359841 This looks like an early, maybe late-alpha build considering how the enemies don't cast any shadows. I'm glad there's finally some news on this game as it's been roughly three fucking years between the announcement trailer and now, even if the screenshots look like they were made in Gmod. I feel like we got more updates for KH3 by this time. >playable Mickey >and it's not scripted like Re:Mind or when you die to certain bosses in 2 Thinking back, I noticed that (((Disney's))) not using Mickey as much anymore since he's public domain now. I'm surprised to see him in anything new from them now.
>>1359841 I miss the hand drawn Sora face
>>1075613 >>1111924 >>1356873 Ain't no way someone is down bad for the KH monkeys
>>1114003 If you can't suspend your disbelief when you hear Goofy say, in his a-hyuck Bill Farmer voice. "Maybe Sephiroth is the darkness inside Cloud's heart?" then the series isn't for you.
>>1360476 That's only for the Verum Rex world, according to Nomura. Sora will look "normal" outside of it.
>>1362168 idk man. KHIII also had CGI Sora on the UI
>>1362171 I thought you meant his model. I don't like 3D UI Sora either
>>1362221 Makes it easier to port for future releases. No HD graphics to redraw for modern resolutions, it just using a better version of the same model. I think a lot of games think with that mind now.
