Just cleared LR village in GU and now I am going to inflict my opinions on you.
First of all, I've been having a blast. Seeing the old maps and old villages and old mons has warmed my heart to no small extent and the combat is fun. That said, so far the game has been mostly piss-easy and I don't know if it's the hundreds of hours in oldgen coming through or that I stumbled into a meta build (full combo Valor Narga GS with focus+WEX) and have been upgrading my gear religiously or if the game is just that easy but I think my total cart count so far is roughly 8 and I have cleared every new hoont on the first try. This certainly was not the case in FU, even when I decided that time was more valuable than dignity and switched to hit-and-run weebstick to cheese a quest.
I got to G-rank in FU like a decade ago and played a little bit of Dos but I skipped third and fourth gen games and went directly to Worldborne (also played a little Rice but didn't like the bingbugs) and I feel like I'm at an all you can eat buffet playing GU - I have my old friends like Tiggy and Narga but also mons I've never seen but now love like Gammoth (what an absolute unit holy shit) and Gore Magala and Lagiacrus and mons I've never seen but now hate with a passion like Najarala and Nibelsnarf, who can both eat a dick. Even the *drome shitters came to the party and it's fun seeing older iterations of mons I first saw in World like Brachy and Zinogre even if Zinogre is a pain in the ass because he constantly spams that pounce move. I'm looking forward to HR, hopefully the difficulty will pick up a bit and I'll meet some more of my favorite mons. I'm actually worried that I might have to git gud if the difficulty picks up during village HR; I've been incredibly lazy about avoiding getting punished.
On the topic of a few things I don't like, however, I'll include basically the entire Palico ranch which is a straight downgrade from Pokke Farm and the Peddling Granny. It's nice that I can manage it from my house, but who the hell thought that that was a good idea in the first place? Also, more of a nitpick than anything else but the food is a major let-down. I'm not complaining about the mechanics of it but I AM complaining about the flavor (heh). It's a crying shame that each of the villages don't have their own unique cooking animations and that every meal is always just fondue.
Thank you for reading my blog.
