Bioshock Danz 04/22/2025 (Tue) 21:56:22 Id: b8ad43 No. 1217343
hey /v/ users, I don't play a lot of video games but I bought the bioshock collection yesterday, are all the bioshocks good? I've heard they are. I'm super excited to play them.
>>1217343 Hey pal, yes they are all quite good, 1 and 2 are different in some big ways but still 2 very enjoyable games. Infinite was a bit divisive but I find it to be quite good too, you'll enjoy all of them I think.
>>1217343 first is good. Second is peak. Third is a mess, it has a cool setting but garbage gameplay and story.
>>1217343 1 and 2 are alright. 3 has an neat setting and gimmicks but feels like a downgrade in a lot of ways at the same time. Story in 3 is also ass.
>>1217343 2 > 1 >>>>>>>>>>>> 3 Funnily enough ive just replayed 2. I finished it last weekend. Its gameplay is better and story is better than 1 but 1's opening is great. 3 is utter fucking shite.
>>1217436 cool, thanks!
>>1217454 keeping that in mind, thanks!
>>1217472 keeping this one in mind too, thanks anon
>>1217594 rad that you replayed it, thanks anon!
>>1217343 Skip infinite. Generic shooter with world building that seems good at first glance then falls apart quickly.
>>1217752 seems like it'd be bad, but I do still want to give it a chance, I'll play the other two first though.
>>1217773 you bought it as part of the collection so it costs you nothing to try beside time but just know that if you don't feel it much it does not get better later on.
>>1217343 first is good. Second is okay. I hate the third with a passion that game is fucking horrible.
>>1217822 yeah, I'll probably stop if I get bored of it and replay 1 or 2
Man Infinite was so long ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_u18_BKczg
1 is solid, 2 is fun but rough around the edges, and Infinite is disappointing. Pretty much what everyone else said looking at the first few replies. Plasmids are probably the highlight of each game, they make for the most fun in encounters.
>>1217343 One of the most overrated series ever. 1 has one of the most dogshit combat ever. Yes, even for a game of that time. The story was ok but the combat, level design and bugs/crashes (even on remastered versions) ruined it for me.

True >The story was ok but the combat, level design and bugs/crashes Stability and atmosphere were the only really good things about it. I had it running on Win2k and I don't think it crashed once in two playthroughs.
>>1217343 A man chooses An american obeys
Bioshock 2 is good, but insanely easy. The first game is jewish as fuck. It also falls apart structurally as a game in terms of level design and pacing after the first third. Infinite is pure anti-white propaganda, it's also a dogshit game.
>>1217343 >1 Is good. It sucks to an extent that you get really powerful really fast but the first hour or two is really great atmosphere. Genuinely had me uneasy because I felt helpless...then after the first 2 hours you turn into Superman. >2 Decent but you never really feel that uneasiness you felt in the first game because you're a hulking ass Big Daddy yourself. >Infinite Suffers from the same shit as Mafia 3. Decent game but just not a good "X" game. In this case it feels and plays nothing like anything else in the Bioshock series. Also the story is retarded.
Infinite is a below average FPS with retarded story and even worse DLCs but amazing visuals. I've never played the other games but iirc the first game's story is also trying to be a social/political commentary and fails because Ken Levine is not as smart as he thinks he is.
I love those games anon, specially 1 which holds a special place in my heart. Also very few people know this easter egg but the tittle hints at one of the main mechanics: Bio means water so it could be interpreted as a shock in the water, something you can do in game
I loved the two first Bioshock games but the third one removed everything I loved about them and replaced it with things worse in every way.
Where the hell is that Judas game that Ken Levine and his new team were working on? It was supposed to come out last month.
As a game to be played, Bioshock Infinife is head and shoulders above the rest of the series, actually catching up with the rest of its genre, meaning the other two games are going to ve really underwhelming from a gameplay perspective. As foe narrative, characters and themes; it's really up to personal preference. Some people think the story about libertarians in the original is the best. Me, I prefer how Infinite predicted conservatism in America today almost to a fucking tee. But they are all worth checking out.
>>1217343 Play system shock 2 and prey 2017 instead
>>1217343 bioshock 3 infinite's first level was so pretty that my parents stopped nagging me for why I'm still playing video games. also picrel is a very important person. her contributions to the field of sfm technology is phenomenal. all female scientists should follow in her footsteps.
>>1217773 infinite is good for 1 playthrough. it has a very appealing and shallow world building. you should play it to both appreciate it and to better understand how to dunk on it. dont bother with the audio logs, play them on youtube after beating the game. always ALWAYS leave ammo aside, some parts of the game rape you and leave you dry of ammo even though you are drowned in it for 99% of the game.
one more thing about 3, the rail riding was fun as fuck. now onto 1&2: try to see if the collection also gave you the classic versions of the games. may need some fiddling to make them work fine, but they look better. they messed up the presentation of key moments in the remasters just to say they redid them with higher res.
>>1217343 >I'm super excited to play them so play them

>>1217454 >>1217594 100% accurate. The first two games are fantastic and infinitely replayable. Infinite is just worse in every respect. Worse story, worse gameplay. The spectacle might be enjoyable once, but if you think about anything that happens in game for more than 5 seconds then it all unravels in catastrophic fashion. On the contrary, if you're stupid, and I'm not saying you are but I'm just getting this out there, then Infinite might be your favorite game of all time, and will certainly be your favorite in the series. Basically, your love of Infinite is proportional to your inability to think about it.
>>1229595 >Some people think the story about libertarians in the original is the best. Pay close attention next time. All the Ayn Rand stuff is window-dressing. Also I'm pretty sure your post is bait lmao
>>1220636 I really liked how you could rely on anything in 2 Stuff was all so powerful, being able to go for an ice drill-only dude essentially and be just fine was pretty kino, god bless making everything viable
>>1230750 I liked infinite quite a bit, mostly for the aesthetic and the guns it had (the grappling mechanic was also cool) I enjoyed the more normal guns instead of... whatever rapture has
>>1230873 What a hilarious comparison.
>>1231015 The guns were boring, the powers were boring, the setting was boring.

Have they made Bioshock 2 work for the PC yet? I would love to actually play that as I don't have a XBOX, and the version on Steam was last I checked, kinda shit
>>1229595 > Me, I prefer how Infinite predicted conservatism in America today almost to a fucking tee Least obvious bait ever made
>>1243280 I've done multiple playthroughs of Bioshock 2 remastered on Steam and only recall a few crashes, which had forum fixes.
>>1217634 First game hooked fags on the story and setting. Second gets remembered as being a general improvement gameplay wise, but kind of forgettable story side (Though I heard the DLC add-on had a decent addition, which I never got around to trying). I wish Infinite was more like the original concepts for it instead of what they ended up with. The idea had a lot of potential, but they squandered it. >>1229595 >Bioshock Infinife is head and shoulders above the rest of the series Only smart gaymers understand this. >>1230346 I still laugh when I remember how her creator said she was like a daughter to him (or something similar) and didn't like all the porn fags were making with her.
>>1217773 The writing quality between BioShock/Infinite and BioShock 2 is massive. Contrarians don't want you to try Infinite so that you don't notice this.
>>1230873 >starting a state in the middle east is like building a city at the bottom of the ocean >-Ken Levine he's right
>>1244882 You should read the whole interview. It's pretty interesting. It's called "The Jewish Roots of Bioshock Run Deep" but also American Krogan's Ethnic Hatred video about Bioshock 1 is interesting too.
(777.50 KB 2560x1440 1444350114095.jpg)

>>1244353 But Bioshock 2 has a better story than Bioshock 1 as well as Infinite. Bioshock 1's narrative is carried almost entirely by Andrew Ryan. When the twist happens halfway through, the narrative quality falls off a sheer cliff. Conversely, Bioshock 2 is a much more personal story. You're a dad trying to get his daughter back. It can be argued that 2's story never reaches the heights of 1's first half, but it also never reaches the lows of 1's second half. It's solid throughout. Infinite tried to copy the personal dad-and-daughter story from 2, but then completely fucked it with timey-wimey multiverse shit that renders the whole of it nonsensical. Nothing that happens in Infinite makes any sense, in game or out of it. Everyone is completely illogical or retarded for the sake of the plot. You should still play it, but if you like it then you ARE retarded. Not in the insult-way, but in the mentally-deficient way.
people will tell you infinite is bad out of contrarianism but it has the most fun plasmids and the few big open levels with the rails left that didn't get cut from the game are a joy to play
>>1251261 That's wrong, though. >Bucking Bronco A reworked wind trap, but with less functionality than in Bioshock 2. (Can't place on as many surfaces, doesn't deal damage itself, can't fuse with other plasmids since every plasmid that could fuse with it makes traps already as a hold skill.) <Charge It's Drill Charge from 2, but now it costs a plasmid slot instead of being an innate ability. >Devil Kiss Instead of being hitscan like it was in the previous games, it's now a grenade. <Murder of Crows Reskinned BEEEEES, otherwise unchanged. >Possession The only true "new" plasmid. Fine, but very expensive until deep lategame. >Return to Sender It's Drill Shield from Bioshock 2 but it costs a plasmid slot instead of being an innate ability. <Shock Jockey Unchanged from Bioshock 1. >Undertow A worse telekinesis, since Bioshock 2 telekinesis already let you lift live enemies. And the big open rail-levels are just arenas, but instead of being frenetic and claustrophobic (which would let you make the most use of your plasmids), everything is spaced out and you have to run around to catch everyone. This says nothing of how pointless the rails themselves are from a city-design standpoint, since "a circular rail in this one city square" holds no actual design value whatsoever. It's there for the sake of itself. Really, if you think Infinite has the best plasmids, it's because you didn't even play Bioshock 2. Two's plasmids completely blow the other games out of the water.
>>1217343 Bioshock is woke. Andrew Ryan is a jew that founded New Israel at the bottom of the sea and seethes because Frank Fontaine,a white man, came to his city and beat him at his own game. Of course, the devs give Andrew Ryan a last minute redemption, but do no such thing for Fontaine.
>>1234117 look, I know Bioshock 1 was orpaganda, but 2 is just 1 with a few things added which are shit. sorry but it's worse than 1, at least in terms of gameplay and concepts
>>1230873 I don't think that paints as good a picture as he thinks it does. Seeing as all the characters with jewish sounding names turned out to be psychotic, paranoid, or complicit in horrific experiments. though I'm sure Kenny would chalk it up to "internalized goyishness" or something.

>>1217343 >I bought these games >are they good? Picrel is OP
(141.42 KB 755x746 7354234242.jpg)

I want to skullfuck everyone that say bioshock 2 is a good game. it fucking sucks and is so bad I wish I could snap it out of existence. anyone that thinks there's anything good about it did not understand the first game. I can compile hundreds of videos to showcase the amazing visuals, story moments and atmosphere of bioshock and/or infinite that cements both games as absolute kino, but there is nothing to showcase about bioshock 2, because it's 100% cringe from beginning to end. the premise is fucking retarded. the plot is retarded. everything is retarded. it is the product you'd get if you hired a random ESL from fanfiction.com and asked them to write a sequel to Bioshock 1 (which is most likely what 2k did). the only reason people pretend to like it, is because infinite's ending was too highbrow for midwits so they regressed to calling bioshock 2 a good game as a form of insult to Ken Levine (since he had nothing to do with Bioshock 2) and it somehow went from being a shitty meme into actually gaslighting people into worshipping it.
>>1266458 Thing is all the psychotic jews in the game are given an out and their psychotic behaviour is excused because "they were victimized", both Levine interviews on the jewishness of Bioshock 1 have him say that. Some like Tennenbaum even get a redemption arc while Andrew Ryan is presented as a victim in the first game. Suchong doesn't get any sympathy points despite being another person displaced by war, he just ends up getting killed because he's an immoral psycho. Even Sander Cohen is presented as a victim despite killing innocent people including women and children for his "art". Sander Cohen is funny, because the level designer didn't see eye to eye with Levine's interpretation of Cohen so he based the Fort Frolic design on horror films and movies like Psycho. You're also given the unavoidable task of killing all his ex-lovers for him and none of the men you kill have jewish names. Tennenbaum is not at fault at all, it's the fault of the nazis in the camps and Fontaine's fault for corrupting her. In the game Fontaine exists to "goy-wash" various jewish crimes that happened in real life. ADAM being highly addictive like the opium is pushed by Fontaine and he doesn't care about regulations much like the Sacklers and Purdue Pharma.

>>1266783 I hate Bioshock more than woke games because a good game with disgusting propaganda is much harder to hate than a completely unlikable woke game. and no, 2 is NOT better than 1 just because it's not jewish. it's worse than 1 in many ways.
>>1266816 >Systemshock for the mentally challenged >good
>>1266834 it's not as good as SS2 but still enjoyable and Levine was behind SS2 aswell
>>1266840 Really? Did he make the game all by himself? Did he develop the first game all by himself too? What an amazing guy.
>>1266855 no, but if BS1 is shit because of Levine, same could be said for SS2
If you start Infinite and hate it like I did, play the DLC (Burial at Sea). The first half is the same gameplay but the second half you play as Elizabeth. That part adds stealth mechanics and you have much more limited ammo, it plays a bit like Dishonored. It still does retarded toimey woimey shit but it's short enough that it doesn't feel like a waste of time. I think a big problem with the main game (besides le racism bad! message) is they reveal the multiple timelines way too early, completely deflating the tension of the war between the Vox and the Founders. Booker's story is one of failed redemption, but you never connect to it as a player because there are zero actual choices that affect the story. To fix it, I'd make both factions morally neutral (from a normalfag perspective), and actually let the player pick a side. Later, reveal that your chosen faction is trying to sacrifice Elizabeth for their own gain. The final part of the story can introduce the multiverses and it's Booker's last gambit to save Elizabeth. Then the twist of "no matter what you do she dies" would be more impactful. >>1254061 The vigors never even felt like they were a part of Infinite's world. Genetic research supercharged by a lack of ethical standards builds on Bioshock's setting, magic salt does not build on Infinite's (or it only does because Liz can just teleport plasmids there, which is stupi).
>>1217343 2>1>>>3>>>>>>3's dlc More people then I expected to say 2 is better. 1 & 2 are similar enough to compare. 3 takes a quite a shift in gameplay. 3's dlc is the worst story I've ever seen and the gameplay is eh. It's so bad that I am singling it out because if I didn't the story in 3 would be so bad I would just say skip it. >>1243280 Don't recall any serious problems when I played it.
>>1267392 >I think a big problem with the main game (besides le racism bad! message) That's not the message. The message is that white people should erase themselves. Elizabeth kills all versions of her father across the multiverse until she herself also fades out. "White people are evil" is the message not "racism is le bad".
Bioshock sparked my love for the art deco style.
>>1244353 Did somebody mention writing? :^)
>>1269151 Here's another. Why does the insanely high tech racist and exclusionary state that has functioning robots and quantum mechanics used in nearly everything need to import negro convicts and chinese coolies for menial labour?
>>1269199 because Levine is jew.
>>1269199 Because they were so incredibly racist they just had to import minorities to dunk on even though everyone probably would have preferred they not be there. So, like >>1271647 said because Jews.

>Bioshock 2 >Scout plasmid that lets you astral project and walk around >Walk into other rooms as a ghost and use plasmids on splicers >"What the fuck was that?" >"Oh my god! Ghosts!" >"I don't have time for this SHIT!"
>>1243280 I played the remaster last year and it worked flawlessly. That bug when setting graphic settings to high then trying to exit the Dinysus baths was fixed. That one stopped me dead many times.
>>1272204 I might have to play through 2 again, that sounds silly

>>1266793 there a billion reviews that point out in detail why the game is retarded with it's shitty villain and asinine plotholes, but not a single review detailing what makes bioshock 2 good. it's unironically all >"BIOSHOCK 2 IS GOOD BECAUSE... BECAUSE... IT JUST IS, OKAY?!?!" even this thread recommending bioshock 2 can't think of a single argument, other than >"Infinite sucks! Play bioshock 2!! It's sooooo good, bro!" *sharts*
>>1274866 Who gives a shit about the plot? The mechanics are miles better than both 1 and Infinite. I could forgive Infinite's plot for being a clusterfuck if the game was fun but it's even more dumbed down than Bioshock 1.
>>1274866 Yeah, I stand by it. Infinite sucks, it's an unfun game with a shit arsenal of powers and weapons. Bioshock 2 is a way better sandbox with better map design. Don't try to defend Infinite if we're going to talk about plot holes and bad story.
(37.13 KB 1440x1382 the average bioshock 2 fan.webp)

>>1274904 >>1274931 >Yeah, it's shit, but who cares! Shit is good! >By the way don't play Infinite. it's shit
>>1265501 >>1266299 Bioshock 1 shows how unbridled libertarianism is flawed. Bioshock 2 shows how unbridled socialism is flawed. >>1266752 There is no better feeling than Electrobolt 3 in your left hand and drill charges with your right, infinitely sapping enemy HP and MP while you Giga Drill Break them into dust. >>1267798 >Elizabeth kills all versions of her father across the multiverse until she herself also fades out. This does not happen. Not in-game with its own explanation and not out of game where what she's trying to do is mathematically impossible. In the infinite multiverse, there is a Liz that comes to that drowning point and decides against it, sparing 50% of the multiverse's Bookers. Booker's baptism is not the nexus point of the entire multiverse, despite what the base game tries to say (before contradicting itself in the DLC).
>>1276748 >Bioshock 1 shows how unbridled libertarianism is flawed. That's wrong. That's not even what Ken Levine says it is. It's about how individualism is bad for the jews.
>>1276890 Kevin Levine also thinks that Infinite's story isn't complete nonsense so I don't give much credence to what he says.
>>1276934 This is not an argument. Ken Levine is an idiot, but he still wrote both stories. Ken Levine and his story being stupid doesn't eliminate the his original intent. The original intent being subversive garbage which is quite clear in Infinite's case because the cohesion of the plot in Infinite is entirely subservient to the anti-white message of the game to the point that the plot is bent into shape just to support the message with complete disregard for any plotholes these changes are going to cause.
>>1277110 It actually _is_ an argument, and it's the same thing as Paul Verhoeven calling his Starship Troopers a satire of fascism that people were supposed to hate. Artists misunderstand their own works all the time.
>>1274866 2 has better enemies, better weapons, and better plasmid selection. Previously useless plasmids (all of them except telekinesis) are actually viable and choosing upgrades actually requires thought. Eleanor turning into a Big Sister was pretty cringe, honestly. Her idle animation reminds me of Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2 and I hate that.
>>1282018 Not to mention, it also improved on every shitty design decision in Bioshock 1, such as changing the hacking to something quick and easy you could even do from a distance in combat, or how the camera now records your fight instead of awkwardly interrupting it. It even has better moral choices than 'do you want to kill the child or not the kill the child and get better rewards' in the form of choosing which NPC's to kill or spare. Gameplay-wise, 2 improves on everything 1 has. But 2 doesn't have a flashy act 2 twist that everyone can talk about, so it'll never live up to it's predecessor.

Some pretty eye opening posts about the jewishness of these games itt. I had no idea but then again I only played the first game many years ago. I have been wanting to play the second since I have had it around for several years as well as the first game. It was a pretty nice collection at the time. At least I know I will have fun with the games but I will probably be a lot more aware of the kikery they may push. Thanks for the heads up anons.
im planning to replay both this year some of my favorite games but after playing them they last a long time in the wait and play later list

>>1254061 >since "a circular rail in this one city square" holds no actual design value whatsoever. It's there for the sake of itself. they are there in case of an invasion. The soldiers can use them to do air acrobatics and shoot enemies from the air while moving around fast.

That game had a fairly troubled development if I recall correctly. Ken Levine and his procrastination policy for game development probably didn't help either.

>>1276890 When I first played bioshock 1, my english was bad. I thought bioshock was about some dudes getting away from the government controlled peer pressure centric hellhole that is modern society, and making their own paradise in the bottom of the sea to not bother anyone. But some governement spooks brainwashed and sent you to ruin it all cause government just has to control everything like a control freak. its just like starship troopers, I saw the oposite of what the author wanted me to see
>>1217436 Infinite is good in its own way. I think people wanted it to be something it was not (also the sjw pandering) and they just had expectations from what the original bioshock was. But if you just consider it as a video game and a fictional world its good.
I can vouch for 1 and 2, but i had enough of infinite when the twins showed up. >we are le quirk chungus mystery niggas that finish each other's sentences and talk in rhymes >oh my fucking science, are you [seriously] trying to save elizabeth from her literal ivory tower as if she were a fairy tale princess? that's cringe and misogynistic, and besides she doesn't need your help, she can open portals and escape whenever, she just chooses not to because... she just doesn't, ok???
>>1217343 The first Bioshock is strictly inferior to SS/SS2 in terms of UI/RPG elements/combat/etc. (gott strafe consoles) with "acceptable" writing but the aesthetic and the voice acting is outstanding and frankly I'd say it's worth playing just for that. Bioshock 2 is mostly more of the same but with a different tone, weaker writing and different gimmicks. Infinite, however, is dogshit plain and simple. The level design is crap, the gameplay is crap, the writing is atrocious on every level and the acting never rises above mediocrity. The art is definitely head and shoulders above the average shooter but that's really all it has going for it and even then the wasted potential is blatant. >>1289832 >Ken "if I can't understand it then that means it's good" Levine
>>1289719 >But if you just consider it as a video game and a fictional world its good. No, it's not. The gameplay is shallow, a massive step down from the second game that Levine had no part in, and even less engaging gameplay elements than your average CoD. And the world itself is full of contradictions from the setting being based on an America that never actually exist nor could have ever possibly existed when looking at period accounts and events with people's perspectives on various matters, to the game's own story twisting is itself into knots and breaking it's own rules to create the "only" two possible outcomes of DeWitt being a drunken gambler who sells his own child or a religious nut leading a genocidal crusade against the surface in a narrative that bases itself upon a setting of "infinite possibilities".
>>1290740 Also is name just means The White in Dutch. Sky-o-shock Finite is really on the nose. It's so jewish it might as well be an episode about baptism from a jewish sitcom. A baptism being the framing device for the whole plot is so stereotypical for a neurotic jew
>>1243280 Remaster seemed fine, BS2 original needs flawless widescreen as it uses console FOV.
>>1289536 A fully underwater ocean hotel like the ones in Rapture (minus the leaks and other hazards) would be so fucking cool to stay in. Gotta have that clear water and art deco style of course.
Someone's having a melty.
I only played bioshock 1 and 2 for the deepsea cunny and since infinite has no high altitude cunny it is miles below the first 2 in which 2 is the best since you get to protect cunny yourself. Bioshock 4 better has some species of cunny or i dont even want to play it, because of the lack of cunny in Bioshock Infinite it was a drag to go through, Elizabeth was a fucking ancient hag.
>>1322955 It's going to suck ass.
>>1323372 Honestly, it is probably not releasing at all.
