Autistic Vidya Attachments Anonymous 04/23/2025 (Wed) 00:16:59 Id: bd92c3 No. 1219323
You guys ever just like, grow a dumb attachment to a random video game character that makes no sense but you just really adore them and want dumb art of them being fucking cute or just adorable or stuff? Cause I got one that's fucking weird >Its this bug alien creature called a Corrupter from Command and Conquer that vomits bio-corrupting green Tiberium goo on enemies and melts infantry and buildings, and heals other aliens. I grew up with that game and the sounds and animations it had were just wonderful to watch and listen. I always liked to imagine of getting art or drawing it as like a big cuddly anthro bug alien thing. Its fucking weird but I like it a lot. What are your Autistic Vidya Attachments Anon, no matter how weird, this is a good thread to discuss them and such.

>>1219323 That's a pretty cute bug. I can't think of anything super obscure right now, but I've always loved the spritework of Pokemon GSC since I was a kid, and I've found the overworld sprites especially charming. They look like little toy versions.
>>1219896 They do look like plushies, very cute indeed! Also happy to finally see a anon reply, I was worried I'd made a dead thread
>>1219323 >>1219963 Those are incredibly cute. I would totally buy a plushie of them.

>>1219323 Turtles/Tortoises are my favorite animal and I immediately understood the meaning behind "Cute Dog" posts when I first saw them in Elden Ring. I also really hate how turtle meat is a common item in the game and I do everything I can to avoid having any in my inventory. Is this what dog lovers feel when they have to knife the CoD dogs through the head?
>>1220067 Same! I love command and conquer so much too and know how too properly play, so I love how useful Corruptor's are by being unit healers for the Scrin, and usually have two of them babysitting a Tripod, its really fun! I'd honestly adore any sorta of merch based off of em at this point.
>>1219323 Drones from Ninjala >extremely cute floating apples/daruma >not present in marketing at all >no merch of any kind >have to beat them up to craft big weapon >often farmed for easy points >one of the game's worst design decisions I love them, but they get no love from GungHo or the average player. The best modes are the limited time ones where you don't have to destroy drones and can just fight other gum kids instead. Thankfully there is also an ability card that lets you gain energy to craft big weapon by beating children, but it's not a good fit for every weapon and hitting drones is unavoidable if you want to win. Their existence is a huge problem because it leads to energy starvation and rewards people for destroying targets that can't fight back more than defeating other players, among other issues like weapons being balanced around their drone destruction times instead of fighting abilities. In any case, not selling drone plushies was one of Ninjala's many wasted opportunities. I cope with it by commissioning art of them instead

>>1219323 These little guys.
>>1219323 Honestly I can see why someone would think that, as weird as it is. C&C3 has some oddly cute things like the GDI Juggernaut having a chicken animation.
>>1227779 Adorable little dudes, and sorry to hear about that Anon! I'm sure you could also try and find someone on Etsy to make you a plushie! I would suggest Budsie, they can make anything a plushie for a fair price! Also I need to commission my favorite bugger sometime, just never have the money on hand for it. >>1227823 Lovely little dudes, how ya feel about the little cameo of them in Half Life Alyx? >>1228082 Oh yea no, the idle animations for most units have a ton of character, from the Nod Awakened doing the Robot, too the silly GDI Commando idle animations. Even the Redeemer had some silly stuff despite being a seriously strong unit.
>>1232011 I appreciate that dedication to a character you like. Won't tell a soul.

>>1219323 >>1232639 Alright, as long as we're being autistic—here's my most autistic video game-related attachment. Don't tell anyone about this: There's this little animated short called The Mandrake, about eight minutes long, that tells a fairly simple story. I really liked the main character, Herman—his design and nature resonated with me. He seems like a kind man living a simple life. Also, he's a rabbit. Maybe because I was playing Stardew Valley or watching Clarkson's Farm, he struck a chord with me. I ended up commissioning someone to create a mod that adds him to Stardew Valley as a playable farmer. Since the game world already features talking animals and magical elements, he fits in seamlessly. In Stardew Valley, you can romance some of the townsfolk, and while the romance mechanics are pretty bare-bones, I decided that Penny, a human girl, is his best match despite their age and species differences. She seems mature beyond her years, somewhat old-fashioned, and traditional--also, I have a thing for interspecies romances (of any combination) as well as redheads. I created a whole backstory for them and have been using AI to write a romance that expands on the limited lore from the game and the animated short. I also made a portrait for Herman in-game myself, edited Penny's portraits to be a bit more appealing, and generated some AI art of her. So, basically, I liked a character, commissioned a mod for him, and it just snowballed from there.

>>1232756 >>1232865 He’s a good old boy. The sprites and portraits look great, and damn, AI is getting good, huh? Those are some nice pin-ups. >>1233282 bnuuy I have a special place in my heart for Franklin the turkey. I think about him every Thanksgiving because AH is one of the only games to have an event for that holiday.
>>1227823 Opposing Force had a lot of alien weapons like that.

My heart goes out too you dude! >>1242708 I don't like Starcraft and I'm not a big fan of this Snark look alike, but you do you anon >>1233282 >>1235209 Animal Crossing Chads are always a pleasant sight! I know I'm very basic and stuff, but these four dudes all have a special place in my heart, love em since City Folk and the OG game

One of my favorite things about the Yakuza series is seeing what all the recurring minor NPCs are up to in each game. Kamurocho really feels like a living, breathing city with how there's a lot of slight changes every time you go back to it in a new game. Take this dude for example, Gary Buster Holmes. He's a minor boss from the first game that Kiryu has to fight in an underground coliseum. Fast forward 15 years and multiple appearances and cameos, and now he's the guy who runs the business that allows you to have summons in the RPG games.

>>1227823 >>1242067 That really brings me back to my childhood
>>1257244 He's not really obscure, but Riolu is very cute.
>>1250694 I also enjoy when a minor NPC gradually becomes more important.

The Son of Arugal from WoW (and the multitude of other similar mobs in Everquest like Cazel and the Griffon in the human zone) not because of how he looks particularly but how he's just a very interesting design decision they lifted out of EQ. What he is just a very high level enemy compared to the zone hes in, and that really matters in MMOs, and he just spawns across the zone. What that does is just instill a kind of mind worm on the player where you are constantly looking out for this insta kill wolfman; the atmospheric returns are just self-explained. You also fight a lot of them in the zone's dungeon which is pretty cool.

>>1281987 Speaking of that game: I love the female humans in vanilla WoW. They’re effortlessly demure and feminine despite the low poly count. I’ve always been more drawn to them than the females of the other species. I love how they sit and all of their animations. I hate the new models, I think they look like Sims 4 characters.
>>1232756 That's kawaii as fuck.
(64.83 KB 686x386 hq720.jpg)

I really like cel-shading from the 2000s. Games are still cell-shaded but it’s way toned down. Some examples: >Viewtiful Joe >Jet Set Radio >DBZ Budokai 3 >Wind Waker >Okami >XIII
(1.56 MB 1920x1200 Mammoth.jpg)

I love killing those faggots! I'll love killing you!
>>1283165 ty! >>1283087 >>1281987 I also have a lot of fondness for many of the classic WoW models.
>>1289104 I also thought Mammoth Tanks fuck, but I'm more of a Nod fella than a GDI dude
>>1299452 Damn, some of these designs are cool. Maybe I should check out C&C.

>>1305082 Start with Red Alert 2
>>1318158 I should start with a sequel to a spin-off?
>>1289071 Are there any other games that have this look?
>>1318721 You could start with the Remaster, same exact games but upscaled. It's just that Red Alert 2 removes most of the jank of the previous games.
