Games to make friends Anonymous 06/04/2025 (Wed) 21:32:44 Id: bc6794 No. 1436662
I'm looking for games to stop being lonely. With a playerbase that is 21+ at least - Matchmaking - MMOs - Community
>>1436662 If you are willing to cooperate, mil sim games usually have a lot of older players. Some can be fags, but most are pretty cool.
I totally understand you, it's harder and harder to make friends as you get older it seems Got any games you enjoy playing in particular we might share? Also if you can find a D&D group that's older that's usually pretty solid.

>>1436662 There's no real easy answer other than playing some old stuff like tf2 and sticking in a server or 2 until you get to know people. You gotta search for communities that appeal to your taste, lurk, talk, and get a bit lucky. Hell, it can be even as simple as people you work with, sometimes. Hell, go around and check for servers hosted on this chan or on the halfchan or threads about particular games you enjoy that might lead to friendly small tournaments. I've met some nice groups of people this way. That D&D group could be a solid idea to start with. And even if you don't end up liking it so much, you can get into other game groups at those places. Avoid FOMO playerbases and trooncord servers, as those are really not good to build a lasting relation or sensible people.

You could play PSO on Ephinea server. Low system requirements, chill community, and every is pretty much over 21 because the vast majority of the playerbase are veterans of the Dreamcast/NGC/Xbox versions 20 years ago.
>>1436662 >matchmaking post 2007 Don't do this to yourself >MMOs check the MMO thread. Those lads are pretty cool. >>897003 >Community You're just going to have to throw yourself out there and see what sticks. You never know where life will take you. I got drunk once and made an account someplace and now i'm a dev. its a wild ride. Don't give up anon

>>1437857 >until you get to know people My experience confirms this. Counting on platforms/games/servers/bars to provide you with a place to socialize may be convenient but it's very risky. There was a surge of loneliness in Ireland's countryside once drunk driving laws limited people's ability to drive to pubs: pubs closed > no more place to socialize. It's also why the antisocial period in my life coincides with the emergence of social media which sucked all the life from old forums and communities. But this didn't have to be a fatality, so learning to chat up random people both IRL and online helped a lot. Also staying in touch by exchanging contact info/social media. I don't have social media so for me it's either email, matrix or trannycord. It could be Steam, jewtube, twitch or others The point is to connect with people, not to connect through <whatever platform> And racism. Nothing binds people together like racism.

I swear making friends online nowadays is almost fucking impossible Discord is a piece of shit that wont let you use it without giving up your phone number not to mention all the problems it has with privacy and user limits unless you pay all the alternative platforms are just full of either linux script kiddies or are so stupidly slow i could fucking walk to a post office and mail a letter to someone across town faster. Or you can just use steam and play random games, and hope you click with someone and become friends, it's totally fucking fucked mate, you either degrade your morals to join people you shouldn't be for the good of your soul and conscience, or give up your privacy, take a chance with the snail train on alternate platforms, or play russian roulette on steam games, it's so fucking fucked. at least there's steam group chats but sometimes those are dead as fuck too. How can the world be so big and so connected but still be so retarded and garden walled off from each other?
>>1445269 Oh and let's not forget if you do try and make friends anywhere they'll just try and corral you to discord, so when you say no to that best case scenario is they talk to you some other way but because you're not on "the platform" they treat you like a second class citizen and talk to you less, maybe once a week or so and worst case scenario they just become another number on your steam friends list. it's all so fucked.
>>1445299 It's hard being sincere Anon, approaching strangers online is difficult because it's hard to trust them, anyone can easily lie online about themselves. It's kinda scary. If any of our interests allign, I'd love to be your friend Anon but you know hard it is to trust people on sites like 8chan, that Azudaioh video gives me hope though, I love that clip. Unless you know some way of privately comunicating from here this was all for nothing, sorry but know that I can relate.
>>1436662 To me its the contrary >making friends irl is easy >making online friends is hard Also >matchmaking Unironically zoomer trash like Fornite might be your best bet >MMO I have never seen the fakest form of friendship as the ones you meet in those, I'd suggest you to skip unless you are into ERP >community Those are plentiful, but making friends out of those isn't any different than MMOs
>>1445269 Fucking cancer ass platform that destroyed online gaming >People machine gun games and never stick to enjoy them longer >They never use mics in game and 95% of them don't write either because they have their gay dickcord servers >Also usually the most thin skinned people who can't take a fucking joke On the other side, games nowadays almost never allow community servers and people don't check them when they do, so it's impossible to meet recurring players in those games. Most alternative platforms for private or more community focused content for games is usually full of loonytroons and require more dickcord fuckery. You also just know that people nowadays don't know what mumble or teamspeak is and will refuse to join those because dickcord once again. God, how the fuck are you actually supposed to build random relationships in this online ecology?
People are more isolated than ever and more superficial to each other than ever and it's all because of content moderation, the sheer number of people you can talk to and the proliferation of displaing your real identity in public. >>1445299 >>1445269 What's the best place you would suggest bringing them to if not discord? Are they worth talking to in the first place? I think this won't ever be solved unless something catastrophic happens because the poor, directionless niggercattle consider following the herd to be the prime virtue of their lives and the few handful of people worth communicating with are just like you, and will ignore the noise entirely because there doesn't seem to be anything better.
>>1462069 Steam's built-in friend chat and group voice chat do the trick.
(23.18 KB 474x309 1409890368049.jpg)

>>1462069 This, moderation nukes social interaction Every server I've joined that had a lively community died almost over night the moment the jannies started becoming control freaks People would rather stop posting or leave than be on eggshells constantly, and this kills the server. >>1439216 Racism works great because it lets people speak their true feelings and bond over shared irritations Unfortunately it's forbidden in most social media spaces so people who post there have to play pretend like they love everyone and they're so agreeable like it's fucking LinkedIn Biting your tongue doesn't make for deep connections, so longterm friends aren't made there.
>>1462552 Agreed, definitely nice having that as a option
>>1437302 >Also if you can find a D&D group that's older that's usually pretty solid. can't find them for shit
(293.57 KB 636x536 Capturerdhtgg.PNG)

>>1477176 I'm also in search of one right now, same boat Some games filter at 18+, I believe we need 21+ filters at the very least because younger people are fucking annoying to play with.
is sharing steam profiles against the rules?
(537.87 KB 702x540 (inquisitive_grunt).png)

>>1477310 Not sure, if it is though I'm sure the jannies will correct it I made a Steam alt if anyone wants to toss a friend request and maybe get some gaming going eventually https://steamcommunity.com/id/ShineTax/
>>1477358 >I'm sure the jannies will correct it 💢💢💢
>>1477358 What games do you play?
>>1479217 Lately older coop campaign games, some action shooters too, though I'm kindof a shitter and will never be high level. It is what it is.
>>1436662 How are you supposed to make friends anywhere at all? I'm bad at multiplayer games, and I don't have a mic or a stable internet connection. The internet is a vast wasteland.
>>1729235 In my case I asked random anons to be my friend, and gave up temporary anonymity for it. Might not be the best idea at the current time period however, especially since that CP spamming faggot might try to use it against you.

I mean... we can always have an Archipelago run. We pick our games, schedule a day and get playing. That said, I'd have to learn how to host if no one else is willing to do so, but it'd be fun to have a game between all of you. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iuzDTOAvdoNe8Ne8i461qGNucg5OuEoF-Ikqs8aUQZw/htmlview?gid=58422002#gid=58422002 There's also this thing I found if you want to have a voice chat while playing. https://www.mumble.info/
>>1436662 MMO's, the problem for you OP is you actually have to engage people and try and make an effort to talk.
>>1436662 Go on Gmod. Say something racist and/or call the server mods a bunch of faggots. You'll likely get banned but someone will secretly think it's funny and add you as a friend. This has worked for me a total of 3 times.
>where do i go to meet people >>1726225
>>1735331 Shameless self bump, we're gaming again tonight. >>1772566
