I know that Muhammad lived in Arabia in the 7th century, well after the Gospel canon was written down, let alone first preached
the earliest found complete copies of single New Testament books appearing around 200 AD, and the earliest complete copy of the New Testament dating to the 4th century, not to mention the papyrus fragments or the fact the tradition was well established by the time of writing.
I know that Muhammad
in the Islam texts themselves btw is described as illiterate, and that he included various non-canonical legends, including but not limited to:
>The Arabic infancy gospel:
>Jesus speaks as a newborn (at earliest may have originated in the 5th -6th century AD, centuries after the earliest dated copies of the New Testament, but the only two surviving manuscripts date from 1299 AD and the 15th/16th century in Arabic)
>Cave of Treasures:
>Angels being commanded to bow to Adam (end of 6th or beginning of 7th century AD)
All of which were regarded as heretical by early Christian councils whenever they showed up, and someone attempting to write an actual “narrative progression” of Christianity would have known to exclude them simply by reading the New Testament
the copies in the 7th century excluding these legends same as the earlier copies did, but as mentioned Muhammad couldn’t read so when he heard these legends he just assumed they were in the book.
And, even ignoring all of that, I know Islam directly contradicts Christianity not just on theological issues, but basic moral principles. That alone makes it ridiculous to call Islam a "narrative progression" of Christianity, to say nothing of everything else.

>The Bible is not actually the word of God or the prophets
Strange that Allah commands Christians to judge by it
>[Surah 5:27:]
>Let the people of the Gospel Judge by what Allah hath revealed therein.
>If any do fail to judge by what Allah hath revealed, they are those who rebel.
So as you can see, the Christians of the 7th century were commanded to judge by the Gospels they had access to. As already mentioned, we have Biblical manuscripts as early as 200 AD. If the Gospel was corrupted, it had been so centuries before Muhammad was even born which would mean Allah is commanding Christians to judge an inaccurate book. However, according to the Qu'ran it is impossible to corrupt Allah's revelations
>[Surah 18:26-27]
>Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Allah knows best how long they stayed. With Him ˹alone˺ is ˹the knowledge of˺ the unseen of the heavens and the earth.
>How perfectly He hears and sees! They have no guardian besides Him, and He shares His command with none.”
>Recite what has been revealed to you from the Book of your Lord. None can change His Words, nor can you find any refuge besides Him.
No one can corrupt Allah’s works, meaning the Gospel is not just the inspired word of Allah according to Islam but also the preserved word of Allah. This means that, if you take the Qur’an as true, then by the Qur’an’s own instructions you must also take the Gospel as being true. But as we know, the Gospel contradicts the Qu’ran just as much today as it did in the time of Muhammad. If the Gospel is true, then the Qur’an is false because contradicts the Gospel; but if the Gospel is false, then the Qur’an is still false because it affirms the divine inspiration and authority of a false book.
Either way, Islam is false.
