Today I want to talk about Izumi's hair. Izumi has curly hair that is either ass or thigh-length- it's difficult to tell, because she is incredibly dynamic and doesn't stay perfectly still (and if she is standing still, her hair is tied up). Her hair color is also tricky to accurately pinpoint, as it can appear gray in some lights, but a light brown in others. Izumi really is an enigma...
Her hair is normally tied in two great bushy tails on each side, looking like they're being held together by ribbons that, if it weren't in her hair, could pass for being in a restauraunt. Her hair also has a big ahoge in it, though it doesn't really do anything special, just sitting there and looking strangely droopy for such a bit of hair. There's also the hairpin she wears on her left side, which is perhaps the most normal thing regarding her hair, like it is the base meal that is then expanded on in what can be best described as artistic and visionary ways.
Her swimsuit is the most natural hairstyle of them all, but also the least natural color of Izumi's hair, appearing like a strawberry blonde when the summer sun hits it. Maybe uqantifying Izumi's hair to being one color is a misnomer. While it is, undeniably, a solid hair color, it is also seen in at least three different colors, making her hair very adaptable? I actually don't know how to describe that. I do think that Izumi's summer outfit is missing something that really sells Izumi
s personality. The other two sprites, you only need to glance at what Izumi is holding to realize that she is eating something very unique. However, in her summer outfit, she just looks like she wants to eat fruit, and as a result, looks a bit too natural. It may be too busy, but I think having her holding more than the watermelon, and maybe some street corn with mayonnaise or barbecue sauce on it, would have convinced me that this is the Izumi that I am familiar with. Even her hat feels strange, because of the innate relationship taste and smell have with one another. Izumi's smell isn't questioned, to my knowledge, or she simply doesn't care about that and instead cares about lunch, to which I digress. They at least got her eyes right, shining like a child going on an adventure.
Her New Year's outfit has her hair gray like the skies during a snowy day... Maybe Izumi's hair, and personality as a whole, is the experience when you leave a restauraunt feeling satisfied. The sun may shine bright, or it may be beginning to set, or perhaps it's not even there in the first place- but with all that food you ate, eating something more just doesn't sound appealing. But back to her hair- it's now tied in a loose braid, looking like a nice loaf of bread, with a black ribbon near the end, providing that unique Izumi bushiness. She also has the hairpin, as she did in her summer and normal outfits, probably because it's practical to her.
I think Izumi is a noisier character in how she's designed, but she is unmistakably a Gehenna student, especially with the hair. I can't put my finger on it, but her hair style and colorings feel like they'd fit in well in Germany. As for how her hair smells, it's difficult to say, but not for a mundane reason. On one hand, she doesn't seem to really care about how her hair smells. On the other hand, Izumi is uniquely talented in that she could probably smell toxic gases and get hungry from it. This leads to her hair's scent being well and truly indescribable. There's sweets, and yet also robust scents... It's like if a dessert shop's baked goods suddenly became very muscular and tried to suplex me!
