Game Journals Thread Anonymous 05/27/2025 (Tue) 11:23:49 No. 27955
Now that the refugee crisis is over we can start this up again. The thread's theme is simple: Play your game and post about it as you progress! I've picked up Sonic Unleashed's PC port again. There are long segments where it's multiple night stages in a row and you don't get to play any day stages. I definitely can see how this would've been an absolute pain without the fast loading times, 60 FPS and other fixes they've made.

The bloom's really coming to a head now. Are there mods that fix this?

More of that lady from spagonia
FInished Pokemon Sword main story and post game story. Going to start DLCs later on. Trying out Battle tower and I hate it makes me metafag but I guess that's kinda the point. I downloaded the DLCs recently and it annoys me you NEED the DLC to get the gigantamax spice from Raids to unlock the G-factor on your non-special Pokemon. I really would have enjoyed to have it while beating the story. Truly a scummy move from GF. >Now that the refugee crisis is over Makes me chuckle how obvious is that 4/v/ anons dont play videogames.
It's nice to see this thread again. >>27968 I too finished Pokemon Shield in the past couple months, along with the two DLCs. I also found it annoying that the special item needed to gigantimax pokemon, the gimmick of the game, is locked behind an additional purchase. For one, because this is obvious greed from Nintendo, but also because it doesn't give you any time to really use the items and powers you have gained. It would have been much more satisfying to unlock gigantimax items partway through the main story, so you could explore it with different pokemon and use it to grow as a trainer throughout your adventure.
>>27992 At lets I had the Lets Go Pikachu (Fatchu boys rise up) to use if is any consolation. I suppose they will eventually release a complete version of Swd/Shd with all the shit. Probably for the Switch 2

Ah, I've been meaning to ask. Is there a special shoe that you need for the ring dash or am I retarded
>>27955 I enjoy the night stages
(2.91 MB 1920x1080 lol.png)

A decade or so back I saw a review video saying something along the lines of the day stages being glorified rollercoaster rides that only look pretty. I'd say that's not the case. they do require skill and quick reflexes if you really want an S rank, especially with high speeds and boosting. The slick and smooth playthrough you can now do is the payoff for improving on that. Unlike in the night stages, most of the quick movements aren't telegraphed and you'll need you to go through the level multiple times until you get it. >>28647 They're definitely not as bad as people make it out to be, but I can definitely imagine the sexbox 420 experience being horrible.

Amy a cute.
>>28648 >I can definitely imagine the sexbox 420 experience being horrible I'm actually playing on an Xbox 360 for now and it's infinitely better than I expected. Even Sonic 2006 wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (although certain parts do have horrible slowdowns in that game). I wonder if it's because I'm playing digital versions of the games instead of running them from a disc, I don't know how the Xbox 360 handles discs and games in general. Also, people always say the PS3 versions are much worse
>>28650 Huh, interesting. The footage from the reviewers I saw showed slowdowns in the night stage battles that had a lot of enemies and several places in the later day stages. Is the near constant battle music bearable enough?
>>28652 It could also be that I don't notice the more minor the slowdowns, but in Sonic 2006 I definitely noticed them. Unleashed's loading times don't bother me at all. I don't mind the battle music, but I do wish I could hear the proper stage music more. And I will, once I replay the game on PC

The new york night stage doesn't render the ground and hides it with fog instead. I don't see why they didn't do it when they did render the ground for Spagonia's stages. It kind of reminds me of the spiderman PS1 game.

(2.18 MB 1920x1080 nyork hub.png)

(1.89 MB 1920x1080 village newyork.png)

All in all, New York is a pretty nice village. It was a bit weird to see a park being used as the hub instead of something like station square, but it was nice nonetheless. I'm curious about what kind of performance constraints they were working with if deadlines weren't a reason.
The soundtrack's an absolute banger here too.
>>28805 I think they wanted to make it look like way higher up maybe

I feel like finally getting around to playing a 3D fallout game. Fallout 3 or New Vegas?
>>29298 If you want a direct sequel to the classic series, go with New Vegas. Make sure you install a community patch because the game is broken. I have complex feelings on 3. It's both overhated and overrated by different groups; the game is ugly as sin and has no respect for Fallout lore, but it's also got some great quests and fantastic exploration. I'd suggest maybe play it after NV and imagine it as a fan game, personally my brain refuses to accept anything since NV as canon.
>>29298 New Vegas is the obvious choice, and I say that as someone who doesn't really like the game. Fallout 3 isn't even the same setting.
>>29298 New Vegas Install Tale of Two Wastelands if you want to play Fallout 3 after.

Spent 2 hours in an endurance race in Gran Turismo 4. I have been wanting to do one for ages and tonight I finally sat down on my ass and did it. I got some crappy vintage car as an award. Oh well it was fun
Been playing through Shadows over Loathing. Not too different from West of Loathing, which isn't a bad thing I suppose. Very enjoyable game. Feels like a throwback to like 2009.
>>29364 I haven't kept up with that game in years. How recent is this? I knew about the west of loathing but not this one. I like that they kept the same PHP/HTML interface they had in the game, going by the screenshots.
>>29368 It came out in 2022, so pretty recently. Interface is exactly the same as west/kingdom. Like I said it really feels like a throwback. Has that 2000s style humour as well. Made my guy a cheese wizard. I go around summoning stinky cheese to ward off horrors from beyond the stars.
Trying to get the true ending in Ember Knights for switch, which you have to beat the game with 15 difficulty multipliers.

I raced 4 hours of Nurburgring for some old car Next up is 24 hours of Nurburgring
(4.27 MB 798x448 gt4.mp4)

Somehow I only just realized that if you do nothing in B-spec mode, the cars will pit themselves automatically without me needing to do anything, fucking hell, I guess I'll just leave this running overnight then
>>29482 The lighting and colors are really good here. For a split second at the start I thought this was recorded footage. If you compressed it enough I think it would take me at least a few seconds to realize that. >B-spec mode Do they do anything special besides the pitstop?
Playan Apollo Justice Collection since I havent touch AA series since AJ came out back in the DS. Just started 5-3 Really defending the same little shit again? How odd there wasn't a Hobo Phoenix costume. According to a Reddit thread is just a convincing picture and not a whole model.
(146.43 KB 872x491 24 hours burger.jpg)

(115.32 KB 872x491 f1 04.jpg)

I finished 24 hours of Nurburgring and unlocked an F1 car, which is basically the hax car which lets you stomp all the other races. I am reluctant to use it to cheese the final main championship though, I might instead do a few more other championships and see if I can unlock or buy a hypercar somehow. The hypercars are surprisingly competitive on straights but they get stomped by the F1 car in corners. >>29483 >The lighting and colors are really good here Yeah Gran Turismo 4 was mind blowing at the time when it released. I remember when I was a kid and I first played GT3 at my cousin's house and people were saying how it looked like it was real life. >Do they do anything special besides the pitstop? Not much. All I know is that B-spec is a bit better with tires compared to me, but worse with fuel. The ability of the B-spec is tied to how many points you have won from racing, which is a really cool system. You have to do a lot of racing yourself before B-spec becomes decent. At this point, B-spec can race about 10 seconds faster than me on Nurburgring.

Finished Silent Hill 3. The final boss fight on hard mode takes 25 minutes. Possibly the hardest boss I have ever fought. Overall it was a good game, on the same level as the first 2
(265.27 KB 1280x720 soma.jpg)

Just finished Soma. It wasn't that great.
>>29947 That's a nice hole you've got there.

>>29947 If you've read literally any philosophy on consciousness the game is embarrassingly sophomoric and shallow. Beyond that, it's a walking sim where people talk at you for the whole game. Also the MC is frustratingly stupid and never grasps the extremely basic concepts. The AI trying to keep everybody alive in that freaky stasis was cool though. Effective body horror by an AI, but out a genuine attempt at keeping its crew alive. And I think that's where the game really excels, everybody praises its entry-level philosophy but the body horror and mass reproductions of people's consciousness is the game's best aspect. The WAU isn't a monster, it was just poorly thought out and doing its best interpretation of what it was asked. This image is the best thing to come out of SOMA. This is so fucking sad I want to hug that robot >>29954 Called sphincters in the concept art.
>>29956 >If you've read literally any philosophy on consciousness the game is embarrassingly sophomoric and shallow. Beyond that, it's a walking sim where people talk at you for the whole game. Also the MC is frustratingly stupid and never grasps the extremely basic concepts. Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Philosophically-shallow walking simulator, it upsets me that so many people gave it a perfect score and thought it was some deep experience. There was like 30 minutes of actual game. Credit where it's due: The atmosphere was brilliant.

I finished Silent Hill 4. It was breddy good actually, the second half is better than the first half. Now onto Silent Hill Origins and that's probably the last Silent Hill I'm interested in except PT and of course Silent Hill F
