Oh yeah also by technicality you can spare the third elite 4 member. Going further into this, I just remembered there's an event that allows you to give the champion's soul to his father, ie the guy who revives fossils for you. That doesn't seem to result in anything so far though.

It's likely due to incompetence, Gamefreak is not skill enough nor filled with people who actually want to see cool concepts like this. A lot of the artists there these days are the Japanese equivalent of tumblr fags and they care very little for Pokemon, Sugimori himself had a massive spat with the fags making the anime as it was revealed in the last Teraleak because they didn't give a single fuck about Pokemon and were putting too much focus on their boring OC characters. I already liked Zamazenta a lot, I'm over the moon with how cool the background details for it are. It truly is the perfect bittersweet mix in terms of writing. >MC's father It sucks because it was really charming when they did it in Hoenn, it seems some of this was recycled and added to Arven's plot, I honestly really like his arc and how fucked the stuff with the professors are, but having the main character have a connection to the story and a personal stake in it would have been so much better, it's a shame we didn't get to see this realized. >Paldeia It still had 8 gyms, but only 4 were obligatory.
