/LNg/ Japanese Light Novel General Thread Anonymous 09/21/2025 (Sun) 09:23:31 Id: 6d4325 No. 72984
This thread is for anything related to the discussion of Japanese light novels, WN/Web Novels included, as well as their anime and manga adaptations. Isekai included.
>>74286 What's this from?
You guys are here tool, what the fuck? Why didn't any of you say anything on 4chan?
>>74290 Pretty sure people mention this place on isek/4/i basically once a week at this point, the fuck are you on about?
>>74287 from >>73612, from the ch 2 days ago
>>74294 Kino. Would you recommend reading it?
>>74300 i'm loving it but rarely see discussion. really quite heartwarming throughout, and the worldbuilding and relationships with rulers and races are fun.
>>74301 People are still not used to actually having discourse again after the pajeet invasion of the late 10s and covid years I think.
>>74301 Eh wouldn't say I like worldbuilding stuff, overlord burned me too hard on that so I can't trust stuff being shilled to me for that reason. Will still add it to my backlog however.
>>74313 Overlord (and to an extent, MT and honzuki) are the exception to that worldbuilding shilling anon, usually when people shill something for it's worldbuilding they actually mean it and the details tend to matter.
>>74321 IMO worldbuilding it's kinda overrated, feels like the excuse pseuds use to praise wanked trash, don't blame anyone for feeling that way about the word.
Has 4chan been slow/dying for anyone else?
>>74323 over the last few years i came to see through setting wank that is only relevant in the current volume and gets thrown away later. especially guilty are mysterious character of the week introductions full of wank, like tensei slime did. i can now tell by smell when an author just piles lore on for fluff and i get put off. a few more years back i was a power level wanker who'd go on wikis for some series and make sense of the fluff. today it has to matter more than that for me to buy into it. >>74321 >honzuki wasn't it decent how it kept on piling stakes to the world? you wouldn't have guessed in part 1 or 2 how that dead sand world worked. it's still josei reading so stuff became less about zero sum economics and more about drama.
>>74327 >over the last few years i came to see through setting wank that is only relevant in the current volume and gets thrown away later. >especially guilty are mysterious character of the week introductions full of wank, like tensei slime did. I think I have heard the term "wiki filler" through around about that, because honestly that's what it is, literal fluff to pad out wiki entries for it to pretend there's a lot of worldbuilding.
>>74327 >especially guilty are mysterious character of the week introductions full of wank, like tensei slime did. That's just an unfair example, tensura is particularly bad on this type of shit by an order of magnitude, especially on the padded as fuck LN.

>>74346 Slime is fucking stupid about it, out of the entire fucking phone book of characters only like a dozen total ever mattered for the overarching plot. No author, I do not give a damn about these scrimblos I either forgot about or you pulled out of your ass and will never mention again after this volume. I swear more than once after rimuru becomes a demon lord there were entire volumes where 90% of it were literal whos doing pointless bullshit to the point I would accuse it of being AI generated writing if it wasn't written long before the AI bubble took off.
>>74348 i loved v8-12 for the comfy city building and good meetings, but the (first?) war arc put me to sleep so hard i dropped it at 13. maybe i should try the WN with how >>74346 said it's less padded
>>74353 Well, I did say less padded, not with no padding. You are still going to see a lot of stuff that will make your eyes gloss over constantly, especially on the second half of the story, but still. Tensura is just not good though, it's interesting up to the point he becomes a demon lord, and once the dust settles it becomes a snorefest.
>>74355 it's interesting up to snooze empire. it feels like they made s3ep13 just for me to see and hear this fabulous hag, CV kanemoto.
>>74356 Stop liking evil elves
>>74356 >>74357 There's just so many girls in this thing I don't even remember.
>>74358 It gets even worse better.
>>74363 To think of it, the supercars are the only post-demonlord characters I remember at all, and guy/diablo. I don't even remember the other primordials, damn. Oh and the time hero, but only because of how extremely fucking convoluted the plot surrounding her gets.
>>74364 I like the dungeon-like plot, they could make like 3-4 different anime by just using a different character as MC and without altering the timeline.
>>74364 >the supercars IMO that was when slime really started to decline, though as characters they were pretty good. From that point on rimuru feels legitimately invincible, and I'm never a fag to call for steaks but by then the story feels basically over.
What's the bump limit here by the way? 500 like on 4?
>>74379 Should be 500 iirc.
So there is a /a/ thread too, seems decently active too. So what do we do now that the 4chan LN general on /jp/ died?
>>74437 you being here should mean you know one answer. i'll keep posting now and then if there's interest.
>>74445 Same, it's far comfier here than on 4chan for some reason, even /jp/ there felt hostile.
>>74437 >So what do we do now that the 4chan LN general on /jp/ died? Actually it doesn't seem like we were the only ones, other /jp/ generals are also slowing down somewhat, with a few being almost completely dead.
>be a tenseier >all your family speaks is rubbish noise >apparently they speak around you in a mix of 3 languages <REEEEEE what you sayyyy >my jap upbringing is preventing me from learning any of that!!!!111!! >actually also be double cursed at birth aside from being a retard >almost get assassinated >alone on the run at age 7, no magic, no language. https://kakuyomu.jp/works/16818023212239228594
>>74484 >tenseier Who the fuck says this instead of "isekaijin".
>>74489 but then i'd have to say he was reincarnated? i think it's a good word if you know EN and JP anyway.
>>74484 Reject humanity, return to grindmonke.
>>74492 Pretty sure people would get the gist if you say "isekaijin from birth".
finished log horizon s1, while the story was alright, i couldn't like the characters... i don't mind lots of characters being presented in a short time frame, but most of them showed up every now and then just to either repeat their gimmicks or to wank the MC. they felt more like npcs than the supposed npcs, they were even holding festivals like good npcs...
