The pacing of the original is also at times way more rushed and it changed a lot of stuff like making Yaiba's dad basically non-existent. This new anime while still skipping some stuff and doing some changes like not showing Onimaru's family for some reason is so far more faithful than the original adaptation and the staff said that it's aiming to adapt the whole manga unlike the original. This new adaptation is also a passion project from the director who always wanted a full adaptation of the manga and it also has the mangaka helping with the script.
