Monogatari is filler for Kaiki arcs and Kaiki arcs are filler for Kaiki + Nadeko arcs.

I've rarely seen a Monogatari thread focused on analyzing a character or discussing a plot point. It's mostly gatari waifu posting. What i'm trying to say is that it feels like analysis discussions take effort and everyone defaults to declaring their love for the show by just glazing the girls and that is why the threads just seem slow or get buried on 4/a/. On the other hand i may be wrong. Anyway i'm re-watching it now and will be doing Neko-kuro soon. I remember thinking i didn't 100% grasp some of the character reasoning last time (I think it was some line from Koyomi about not liking Tsubasa but i'll have to see). So far, everything up to Nise has been very clear, the show gets better on a re-watch seriously. I missed a lot of stuff back then.

Hanekawa started making sense to me after watching Kizu, surprisingly enough. Not that there is much in Kizu to be honest, but it felt like i got the context of her situation more clearly. One of the best scenes about Hanekawa to me was the one where she stayed at Senjou's house and they were talking about food. Senjou does her best at analyzing her for us. The arc that escapes me the most is Hanamonogatari. Rouka's whole backstory (with another girl named Rouka?) and Suruga's feelings are not intuitively organized for me yet. Thinking about it, Suruga can be one of the most closed off girls in the show. Outwardly, she seems to be wearing her heart on her sleeve but she has some sort of weird discipline that makes it hard for her to share much of her worries with others. That and relatively low introspective screen-time.

I could be wrong but this scene used when Sodachi is monologuing could be a pretty nice reference to the start of 3-gatsu no lion episode 1, where the same voice actor is talking. Or it's just one director at SHAFT that likes this kind of shot.
