How do we feel about Aira x Okarum? Anonymous 10/13/2025 (Mon) 18:54:31 Id: 7c3069 No. 73929
Im an Airafag myself, but come to think of it, i forgot why Aira fell for Okarum in the first place; so i went to rewatch that part: https://youtu.be/vFHxkFwtooo?si=wHs9wELb61qPeLgZ She thinks Okarum is a demon but she likes his human heart. The later would be sweet if not for the fact i think the scene makes too much emphasis in the deamon part. She even reflects on him being a deamon as she leaves instead of his golden heart. To me that moddies things, as if what she likes of him is the "taboo" of mingling with an different species; kinda like the class rep that thinks hes a vampire. Airafag for life tho
It feels weird to see modern/current shounenshit like this to effectively get to the exact same landfill battle harems once did. The idea of okarun being with anyone other than the first girl is pointless, because in this type of series with near zero relationship progress but still with a lot of cockthirst from the orbiting shipbaits that's what always happens without exception, making the "harem" elements completely pointless.
>>73989 >near zero relationship progress That's the kind of thing that surprises me the most about modern shonen. Why the obccecion with having the main couple only be together by the end? Think about dbz, yyh, shaman king, urusei yatsura, etc. All these series have they main cuple be together kinda early on, or at least be implied that they got together off screen. What is about modern mangakas, can't they write a actual loving relationship?
>>74006 >about modern shonen It's not a "modern" shonen problem, it's a shonen problem. Ignoring stuff without any interest in romance or even token romances like jojo which are pretty much male focused, shonen has always been like this all the way back to yuyu hakusho and ranma, maybe even further back. Mind you it's not ONLY a shonen problem, as the battle harem era of LNs also had this problem, as well as the academy SOL urban fantasy wave that haruhi was part of, but it is primarily a shonen problem that bleeds into other mediums due to said authors trying to effectively write a shonen out of the WSJ magazine or similar magazines. >Think about dbz, yyh, shaman king, urusei yatsura, etc. All these series have they main cuple be together kinda early on, or at least be implied that they got together off screen. What is about modern mangakas, can't they write a actual loving relationship? Yes and no, because as much as you may cry it is a "doesn't count" cope, it very much does. Dragon ball is not interested in romances at all and the goku-chichi dynamic is basically a joke at best, if anything gohan has more depth on that front and while they do get together, his GF basically gets completely sidelined like on any shonen, same with YYH as mentioned. If anything to a degree SK and UY are exceptions that confirm the rule. Having said that "effectively zero romance" like jojo is also not an old thing, it's been done as early as JJK.
My boy just needs his, I dont care where it comes from.
Okarun works so well with Momo I just can't really imagine him with anyone else
>>74068 I really question how, it really feels their entire relationship is built on suspended bridge effect copium. They only ever talk heart to heart whenever they almost fucking died and even then the relationship still has progressed jack squat (they are not technically even a couple yet) despite being into basically season 9 content in the manga by now.
>>74006 >>74024 IMO the problem with shounenshit isn't so much centered around no romance, that's more like a symptom than the illness. The core problem IMO is basically it's a format forced to end on an epic cliffhanger literally every single week, and when chapters last a single fucking scene tops, it really starts to strain the narrative. There's not much any author can do when they are forced to go from epic fight scene to "aura farming" scene back to epic fight scene. It's even worse in the zoomnig era thanks to tiktok rotting everyone's attention span, back in the day jojo part 1-2 or YYH were pretty to the point and didn't have much depth to them yes, but after they hit their stride we could see that was mangaka's inexperience and the format did allow for some depth. But now? Good luck getting any nuggets of depth between fight scenes, and romance is the one thing that always gets sidelined first for more fight scenes.
>>74075 Yeah that too, the anime already showed the musicians fight scene where he has far better chemistry with aira than with momo. And to think of it, this means momo is pretty fucking useless for the plot fights unless said plot bends over backwards to make her powers extremely important to win.
