Simple and cool is how fights should be, although depending on the arc it can be poetic? there are a few where they are indeed poetic and by poetic I mean described with imagery, rhythm etc turning the fight into something vivid and symbolic like when MC and heroine chant a combined amplified chant for lost magic that chant bringing down a seperate dimension corresponding with certain things. Like to the name of that arc, to the future of humanity etc. poetic fights are not my thing and I didn't like them very much tbqh but some of them were cool nontheless. When it comes to fights in this series the best ones are simple ones imo. >>4215 Its the same, you have go down the rankings or search for certain aspects you find entertaining. I would still advise looking at the series which are getting new LN adaptions and not just rankings purely, then checking out the source and how its being reviewed. Finished a big turning point in 魔術漁りは選び取る magic academy being used for its intended purpose and more is always good. But yea the end fight of this arc was probably the best one in the entire series. If somebody asked me to show them how a Blue Mage fights in fiction this would be it. This is the way. Also not to forget reforming crazy bitches by punching them Touma style in the face and then reforming them with talk no jutsu after they're in prison and gagged will never cease to being GOOD storytelling for me, also considering the previous milf crazy bitch was executed(what a waste despite wanting to open up MC's brain) this time everything went good the bitch wasn't killed. Alls well that ends well. /reformed/. But no really I think this had to be the best fight in the series thus far. How everything was set up and then executed and clicked, in the end both of them running out of mana and with broken bodies trying to punch each other physically and MC using remaining mana to make himself grow into a teenager for like 3 seconds thus his punch reaching first into the bitch's face crazy shit very satisfying despite this bitch's reason for doing what she did was no less crazy than the other bitch. Melfinis best girl. Gonna take a break now I'm at like at chapter 230. Binged a lot and I'm burned out with this. Will probably give it a bit more time for it to update before I binge the rest. end of this arc feels like a pretty big turning point in terms of MC moving up in world and now moving to the royal capital to become apprentice of a court mage. This kind of nariagari is what I dig, from literally 0 to effectively being in such a position to finally meet the king and receiving peerage/becoming a noble. Slowly, slowly but steadily rising to the top. entertaining nariagari-like story. I'm gonna move on to pic related now. Time for some more Kakuyomu core though I doubt it'll be as good.

>>4237 yes basically Blue Mages can learn actions from enemies by witnessing their attack during combat. Actions have a chance to be learned once witnessed, although here its a bit different. In this setting magicians that put excess mana in their spells or basically imperfectly cast it due to strain or something else have that excess mana crystalize and materialize in the physical world they call this magic residue/RUBBISH. These stones or crystals can't be used for anything really and disappear naturally in a few days by melting into mana of the atmosphere. However MC in this setting from childhood was a battlefield scavenger his hobby after acquiring enough quota was gathering this literal magic rubbish for himself to gaze at before they disappeared finding them beautiful. For everyone else these magic rubbish were a proof of their inexperience and fuckup as a mage. They couldn't be re-utilized either and simply disappeared by themselves. He continued doing this for 2 years and was the only fun he could have while scavenging battlefields. Its kind of hinted multiple types that because MC was the only one who loved them wished them not to disappear the magic world rewarded the MC with a certain ability and maybe as a middle finger to the mages. Maybe they were always there but MC started seeing fragments of magic formulas in these rubbish of the spells that were originally used to produce these rubbish or set of rubbish. He learned his first spell by collecting multiple stones and connecting the magic formula with each other even finding out the name of the spell in the process and suddenly he was able to cast it. Though later on he learns how to use spells even with an incomplete formula from a single rubbish/stone as long as he knows the activation method as in the spell name/chant. But its not a simple matter of using the same spells either, MC can rewrite parts of magic formula to his interpretation of what it should be which is what makes his ability fun for trolling. For example there was an antagonist who could use mental interference/brainwashing magic using these kind of ethereal black arms they could produce in close range. MC after series of actions is able to gather the necessary rubbish and even bait out the activation method for the spell to be able to cast it from the antagonist. Of course the antagonist is ok with that too because mental interference like that won't work on them the caster. But MC actually changes the part of the spell formula from mental interference into physical interference and catches the antagonist off guard pummeling them with ethereal black arms basically their own spell that was supposed to mess with just the psyche and nothing else.

The only thing that keeps him going is getting these shiny stones as a side benefit from magicians if they were present on the battlefield(in this setting not everyone can use magic normally like normal soldiers certainly cannot and neither can magic swordsmen). You actually need to study to use even the simplest of magics and and thats a big no no for the uneducated folk.
