>>1190 Yes, mace is effective with a couple of caveats. You have to hit the person in the face and you have to do it before they close the distance, otherwise you'll be spraying yourself too. Same in a confined space, the effects will be shared by people in it. Mind you, it doesn't stop someone from attacking even with their eyes closed and if they're high enough on something, they can maybe force their eyes open through the pain.

>Ancient thread and I doubt OP remembers he even mad this thread but It's a good middleground solution where de-escalation/flight isn't an option but discharging a lethal weapon may not be appropriate given the circumstances & factors. If you're threatened but have assessed a firearm would be overkill but still need to incapacitate the individual, utilizing a spray would have you facing the prosecution of assault with a weapon instead of 2nd degree murder; I'm the furthest thing from a lawyer but I'd take my chances with the former. Let me know if you disagree.
