Ratgun /k/ompetition /k/ommando 04/21/2025 (Mon) 21:54:58 No. 13817
Going to try and make this a monthly thing, with each month having a different theme and rules. We may be refugees now, but that's no excuse not to do a little shooting and have a little fun. This month's theme is focused around the smaller end of pistols. Think summer carry guns, subcompacts, snubnose revolvers, mouse guns, pocket guns, saturday night specials, and stuff like that. If you don't have anything like that, feel free to shoot with your usual carry gun. The rules are simple: 10 shots at 10 yards at the target provided in the pdf (B-3 target). Only post your first attempt. If you have multiple pistols that match the theme, you can compete with as many of them as you like, but only post your first attempt per gun. >>13817 Oh hey you actually went and made the thread. Sounds like fun, I'll take a crack at it with my titan and RIA in a week or two, kinda tied up. To all the other competitors, fuck you go eat some communal brownies I'm gonna win this and get all the (you)s.

>>13817 Sounds like fun, going to try to get to the range this weekend. I know a .380 Makarov isn't exactly in your criteria, but it fits in my bigger pockets, and I got it for a saturday night special price. Also this is an old photo.
I'll go back out with that target this weekend, but I did 5 shots at 15 yards yesterday with my .38 LCR and this was the result.
>>13817 This sounds like fun. I could go full hard mode and do it with my NAA-22LLR, since that takes a lot of practice to hit anything. Could very well have no hits on the target at 10y. I do carry it during the summer too. My other more serious summer carry is my original Shield 9mm, which I can shoot very, very well for it's size.
A carry gun challenge is nice. No time limit, but still good test for guns carried more often than shot
>>13899 >fingernail Why are you black?
>>13817 If I get my broken Colt Detective back this weekend I'll try and do the challenge. All depends on if my LGS guy gets off his ass and fixes it though
>>14019 I wasn't really sure how to do a time limit that would work for everyone.
My ratgun is broken and I haven't been able to find a replacement part ;_;
What is a ratgun? Stupid Bing is giving my that Raygun break dancer.

>>14407 Same thing as a mousegun. It can fit in a pocket and is usually chambered in a small caliber.
>>14470 Figured as much. My Shield 9mm would definitely qualify.
>>14407 Like a mouse gun but bigger. Stuff like the Colt Vest Pocket or Beretta 950 would be considered mouse guns, so larger pocket guns like the Colt 1903 or my Beretta 1935 would be ratguns. It's not a common term, but I've seen people use it before and I figured it's a bit more inclusive of a term than mouse gun is. And yes, your Shield definitely qualifies. >>14470 I like this chart.
>>14480 If the Shield is in the Walther PPS would be in, right?

I took the LCR back out and I really do like this little gun. The weather is supposed to be nicer tomorrow and Sunday, so maybe I'll try out the 1st gen Bodyguard .380 next time.
>>14973 Very nice.

>>14666 The Walther reminds me I should shoot it more.
(2.58 MB 3672x2432 Bodyguard 380 10 x10.jpg)

I went back out today and I did better with the Bodyguard .380, but I took forever and a day between shots to stage the trigger just right.
>>15143 Nice work. Getting a small handgun to behave like a target pistol does take some fiddling.
>>15034 Still not bad. >>15143 Pretty good, especially for what you were shooting.
