>>38920 I don't think any of the Sonic games with Denuvo (the modern form of Denuvo, not the old version on Forces) have been cracked yet. Your options for a pirated Shadow Gens are either emulating the Switch version or trying to mod as much of Shadow Gens into Unleashed Recompiled as possible.
sonic leg ends
fast
>>38923 Good to know, thanks. I think the newest game I've played is probably Forces so I'm really out of the loop. I'm guessing I'm going to run into similar issues when I go for Frontiers then?
>PS4 is getting a physical release again Good, I might buy this if the Switch version has a bad enough framerate. >Base game is $70 on all platforms except Switch Why? I'd sort of understand if they priced Frontiers 2 at $70, but this is a spinoff. Spinoffs shouldn't cost more than mainline games and it will probably sell horribly as a result since you can get all the mainline games for cheaper. >Digital Deluxe is $20 extra This is just the purest of pure greed. For $90 you can get Forces, Mania, SxSG and Frontiers when they're on sale.
>>38925 i cast haste
>>38926 >I'm guessing I'm going to run into similar issues when I go for Frontiers then? Yeah, it has Denuvo so your only option is to emulate the Switch version.

Was the Biolizard the weakest boss that Super Sonic ever fought? I mean he was actively dying during the fight due to being disconnected from his life support and was had massive sores from all the energy he was absorbing. He only posed a threat because he was five minutes away from crashing the ARK into the Earth. The only reason Sonic and Shadow needed to go Super to kill him was to get to him and kill him quickly enough. Compare that to all the other Super Sonic fights where you're facing off either against a huge monster at the peak of its power or some mechanical monstrosity of Eggman's making, the Biolizard would easily job to any other final boss in the franchise.
Why's /fast/ so slow today? Didn't we just get a major news announcement?
>>38937 The Crossworlds trailer? I guess there wasn't a lot to discuss in it and anons don't generally seem very exited about it. I'm looking forward to the Iizuka interview tomorrow though.
>>38937 Seems like the majority of people here don't plan on buying it right away or at all.
Does this mean they're going to jew players for even more than $70?
>>38940 The Season pass is included in the $90 Digital Deluxe Edition, so it'll probably cost $20 on its own. And who's to say there won't be a second season pass if the game sells well enough. In short, yes, they will jew players out of way more than $70.
>>38938 > I'm looking forward to the Iizuka interview tomorrow though. Oh yeah I forgot about that, I wonder what his defense of it being the most expensive Sonic Game ever will be? Or will he dodge the question entirely?
>>38935 Huh, you're right. I never thought about it like that
>>38937 >>>>major
>>38942 He will dodge the question with some nonsense.
>>38942 Honestly, the interviewers may just think it's perfectly normal and that there's nothing wrong and may not even ask the question.
>>38943 >Solaris was the most powerful being Sonic ever fought >06 is considered the worst Sonic game >The Biolizard is the weakest final boss of any Sonic Game >SA2 is considered the best Sonic game Next game Super Sonic needs to fight an extremely weak opponent.
>>38947 one (1) motobug
>>38937 it's slow every day
>>38948 But how would you make a Super Sonic fight against a single motobug entertaining? My idea would be to make it a sort of race against the clock, perhaps to use Super Sonic's unlimited boost (going so fast to the point that it becomes challenging to control) to reach the motobug before it can trigger something that can destroy the world.
I'm so tired of Super Sonic being used just for the final fight, it's so fucking boring, they never do anything interesting with it.
>>38951 make superer sonic
>>38951 What do you suggest they do iinstead? Should they go back to having base Sonic fight a reskin of Nega Wisp Armor like they did during the 2010s?
>>38951 Well what would you do with a Super Sonic final stage?
>>38955 he's made so much progress
>>38940 Yeah. I just hope those 20$ extra stuff are worth it.
>Hatsune Miku, Joker, and Ichiban announced for Crossworlds with more coming for free >Game is legit a new Sonic and Sega all-stars games >Werehog and Sonic Prime also coming >Possible IDW comic characters too >Guest characters season pass >Zero microtransactions Bandicoot Who Thought He'd Lost All Hope Loses Last Additional Bit Of Hope He Didn't Even Know He Still Had.
>>38953 >>38954 How about an introductory level built around the super form, or a fight that is a bit more involved and has more to do? Super Sonic fights are always so limited.
>>38949 Before April this year, there were 0 posts a day, right? People are here now at least

>>38959 >Zero microtransactions SO FAR
>>38966 I'm willing to chance fate and say there won't be any microtransactions...Because they already confirmed selling "character packs" if you don't get the season pass. Essentially the Mario Kart way of doing things. Moral: Don't sell skins and cosmetics individually with a BS virtual currency.
>>38965 >.png >animated I've heard of "anpg" files before but I think this is my first time actually seeing one
I think this may be where the Iizuka interview will be streamed. The segment starts now and we have to watch 1 hour of shit until they decide to actually start with his interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oExyqArcAnE
This part of Rainbow Garden looks like Windy Valley, right? Is this track supposed to be in the Mystic Ruins?
>>38972 For a second I thought we were getting a crossover with that series too Thanks for the link, I'll check it out
>>38974 >getting a crossover with that series too
>>38975 It might happen if the game is a success. Imagine all the amazing crossovers they could do with other companies if the game and first year of DLC do well.
>>38973 It does look like Windy Valley.
>>38976 Actually why haven't they put Angry Birds in it yet?
We still have to get through Rick and Morty...

>>38969 Digimon collab next alongside Ren & stempy.

>>38981 You say this, but I think that would be fucking amazing
So the races are going to be 3 laps and in the second lap you're going to be teleported to a different place?
>>38984 A proper Sonic and Digimon crossover could be nice. Without lame kart trash I mean. Make Sonic and Tails go to Digiworld or something, and they befriend some Digimons and stuff.
The gameplay they're showing looks much better than what we've been seeing so far. Much more busy.
>>38988 The gameplay we saw months ago from the PS5 server test looked busy too, I remember people praising it for that
>>38987 I'd honestly like that too. Oddly enough it might be a fitting Frontiers crossover too with digital stuff being haywire and they wind up befriending Digimon along the way while confronting evil. There could be a specialized artifact that can make Sonic digivolve if Super Sonic isn't enough.
He completely dodged the question about different play modes.
>>38984 Man I fully agree with >>38987 I love both series
>>38969 >Wave 6 is obviously Ninja Turtles >Avatar and Spongebob are in there with two racers each So, what are the two other collabs?
>>38972 Oh they did CrossWorlds a while ago now. Maybe I'll check it in a bit
Why did they put the ugliest stage from Forces in Crossworlds as a track? Why couldn't we have gotten something that's actually aesthically pleasing like Metropolis or Null Space instead of Luminous Forest?
>>38992 Digimon (or Digimon Adventure I should say) gets brought up quite often in this community, at least when shipping is discussed. We seem to have some overlap. I don't really see Digimon get brought up often otherwise
>>38995 I kinda like Luminous Forest
>>38969 55 playable characters? How did they get that number? >>38987 That sounds like a lot of autism. I love it.
>>38998 >How did they get that number? C'mon anon, they are borrowing from multiple franchises
>>38996 I know about strange ships in the Sonic fandom and very oddball ones like Cinderalla X Sukuna, but I've never seen Digimon be brought up for shipping. I can probably see somebody pair a character with something like Agumon, Impmon, Veemon, Rookie Level Digimon but Ultimate and Beyond the levels? Humans? The time Digimon would be brought up would be the same way Dragon Ball do in like cool crossovers or power levels.
>>38996 Well, Digimon and Sonic do have something in common in shipping: Instant flamewar when it's mentioned.
>>38998 >23 Sonic Characters in the base game >15 Characters in the paid DLC >10 Characters in the free Updates >The Werehog >3 Prime Characters I'm only counting 52 characters.
Was it just me, or was barely anything said or revealed at that interview?
>>39003 Not surprising
>>39003 Yeah, not a lot of new stuff. It was just a 15 minutes interview. It's releasing in 3 months though, they're going to have to start ramping up the marketing soon.
(44.04 KB 506x371 Gs3M4T2XIAEu6rM.jpg)

>>38969 >55 Playable Characters (if you preorder the $90 deluxe version) >MKW has 50 playable Characters in the base game for $80 >30 race tracks (if you buy the DLC) >MKW has 30 tracks plus the open world without needing any DLCs Sonic Racing Crossworlds is really looking like a scam right now given that it has less content and costs more than Mario Kart.
>>39006 What would her voicelines be when interacting with Shadow?
>>39011 >"Kill them all Shadow, kill all the humans."
I wish Sonic was more popular...
What courses would you like to see in CrossWorlds?
>>39013 I don't, that never ends well.
>>39015 If people actually liked Sonic we'd be getting a Sonic game now instead of crossover garbage
>>39011 >"Why didn't you save meeeeee?"
Well that was a rather sad ending. I was not expecting to get feels from this game lol. It was a really nice plot twist.
>>38960 Isn't that what Frontiers tried to do?
(3.80 MB 2156x1428 Doordasher Flynn.png)

>>38983 Making deliveries.
>>39026 Do you hate Ian?
The statue, I want the statue. Only problem is it's $250.
>>39030 I could deal with the price. The bigger problem is you likely won't see it for almost a year after purchase. A price tag like that, and the wait time. Thats insulting.
CrossWorlds has Red Star Rings. How do those work in the context of a racing game?
>>39032 Probably like the Puzzle Pieces in Banjo Pilot, if you collect them all you unlock a character or something. Maybe each track will have a mission to collect all five in under a certain time.
Have you guys ever played the local multiplayer in any of the Sonic home console games? I've never had the chance to try them. I've seen people talk about SA2's occasionally, but never for the other games
>>39034 >Have you guys ever played the local multiplayer in any of the Sonic home console games? I tried SA2's multiplayer with friends once, it was okay, but would've been substantially improved with people who had played the game. I did 4 player Sonic R once. After several rounds of beating everyone soundly, I used a cheat code to give everyone else Super Sonics to make things more fair, but Super Sonic's speed wasn't enough to overcome their lack of understanding of the games controls so I still beat them even as shitty characters like Egg Robo. I played some of Mania and Sonic 2's multiplayer, it was a fun diversion, but felt worse than singleplayer. Using only swap monitors made it fun. I really liked two player mean bean the one time I played it. Everything else I either don't own or haven't been able to get people to play with me (I think our Sonic R session burnt a lot of bridges).
Why do they make these racing games but don't include an online race mode in their normal games at all?
kiss me
Instead of a racing game, they should just make a normal Sonic game with online multiplayer races. Multiple playable characters all with the same basic controls and some different abilities, several stages to play, more stages added through updates Thoughts?
>>38965 This is super cool anon!
>>39038 >"Mario Kart." Says Sega.
>>39030 That's a nice statue
>>39031 The PC edition is digital only, which is lame but you probably would get the code at launch and it's $50 less. Considering the game is $70 on Steam, then I guess it's not a bad value for the price. >>39034 >local multiplayer Do you fags have IRL Sonicfag friends?
>>39038 It sounds like it'd be a pain to balance it if you want the characters to have their original abilities because they're just too different to each other's and I doubt they have the talent to do that anymore. But maybe as a side game on a bigger title so that they don't have to flesh it out so much could work.
(78.52 KB 135x220 sticky_bump.png)

>>39040 It is, I love it. Have another Bump.
>>39046 oooh, Bump's super form. That's cool!
>>39044 >Do you fags have IRL Sonicfag friends? No, just friends I've been able to coerce into playing Sonic with me occasionally.
>>39034 I've played 2s, 3&Ks, SA2s, Heroes', and Shad05s with my brother as we grew up together. SA2s was goated as always with Sonic 2s next in line. We also had a great amount of fun with Shad05s campaign thanks to the helper character being controllable
>>39049 Gemerl talks? I always assumed he was mute since he never talked in Advance 3.
>>39034 I played knuckles chaotix with my sister
>>39034 Played a lot of SA2 at a friend's house. That was one of the first time I learned about shortcuts in racing games when I could jump off the rails and onto the lower ones.
I was told Ian will be in cross worlds, he'll ride on a scooter and wear a pizzaboy outfit, Yoda from star wars will be in, The Hunter from Monster Hunter, The Monster from Momster Hunter, and Garfield from Garfield Kart will be playable.
Thoughts on the music in Crossworlds? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cELdwule-WA
>>39054 awful, sounds like a 4kids opening
>>39054 What the fuck is that? Is this a leak? It sounds like the frame rate or the audio sample rate is fucked up or something.
>>39044 >Do you fags have IRL Sonicfag friends? No :(
>>39054 The audio sounds fucked up and the song might not even be complete, but it sounds like it'll be good when the game releases and we can hear it in decent quality. >>39055 Yeah it sounds like a 4kids anime opening, but in a good way.
>>39053 >Ian will be in cross worlds, he'll ride on a scooter and wear a pizzaboy outfit, Someone needs to mod this into the game when it comes out.
>>38965 >>39046 These are awesome, anon!
For some reason I didn't expect CrossWorlds to have a vocal theme
>>39054 I feel it's rather weak compared to other songs in the series. It starts strong but then gets worse. Also the faggot from TSR is there.
(1.34 MB 1280x720 crush2.webm)

>>39076 >>39054 Also kek
>>39076 Mentioning the game's title is always a little off. I feel the same way about Sonic Heroes, even if I do like the song. I think it's something they usually intentionally avoid because it makes the song feel cheap. But this whole game is filled with cheap crossover collaborations, so I guess it doesn't matter, they'll take the marketability of those lyrics
>>39078 >Mentioning the game's title is always a little off. Apart from Heroes, how many Sonic games have even done that?
(169.12 KB 220x170 chaotix_sing.apng)

>>39078 >it doesn't matter NOW WHAT HAPPENS
>/fast/ is no longer on the top bar If this place fully dies where am I going to talk about Sonic?
>>39083 In the time chamber once you get TRAPPED and BETRAYED.
>>39083 maybe ill just stop using the internet i guess i have to get off of youtube though
>>39083 It was earlier today. It's been coming and leaving for a few days. Anyway, a lot of you guys were saying you weren't going to leave /fast/ or even that you wouldn't go back to 4chan and cried when I didn't believe you, I'm still encouraging you to prove me wrong
>>39086 shut up pissbaby i havent touched halfchan since the great revival
>>39087 Okay, you're one person, cool. There were multiple people making such claims so I'll keep encouraging them to prove me wrong

>>39086 >a lot of you guys were saying you weren't going to leave /fast/ and we're still here
>>39086 I've been here everyday since halfchan got hacked and there's just nobody to talk to. I post and then nobody responds for hours.
>>39083 I browse and post occasionally I honestly believe that 4 has bots making bait posts 24/7 to stay alive.
(15.69 KB 338x360 Chadvok.jpg)

Is it just me or is Zavok's theme music underwhelming? He's one of Sonic's strongest foes (his base form is able to withstand homing attacks from Super Sonic) and yet his music is some of the most generic for any boss. He needs something better, something that exudes power and strength. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTj-iQ-eAcQ
(585.58 KB 1024x1024 1721233347474.png)

>>39083 >>39086 Don't be dramatic, people take breaks, like i just did after 100%ing forces, there's only so much you can talk about yknow. This place is always going to be slower, it's the price one pays for not having to deal with glowies or bots, i'll probably post some more shit in the S rank thread eventually.
>>39090 Well, same for me, but I respond as soon as I see anything I can respond to >>39091 Wouldn't surprise me lol
>>39093 >100%ing forces Did you do all the achievements or just S rank every level? Because the achievements for that game are designed to waste your time.
>>39092 You're right, and I think Lost World's soundtrack was intentionally made to be more generic and less attention grabbing (like the game as a whole)
>>39095 Not him, are you talking about the system achievements or the in-game achievements/mission system? I don't think they are the same
>>39093 Wasn't this board getting 0 posts a day before the hack? Also, about half if not more of the people who posted here during and right after the hack have left, if they stayed then it would still be just as active as it was. People unironically prefer having much higher activity even if most of it is annoying and worthless. This place is already slow, and if it becomes slower, even more people will leave, and that will of course make it even slower. You know I'm right, if you want it to be active it will need to be more active, not less. If you're complacent it will only get worse
>>39095 Everything, and it really only is the 100k rings achievement that actively wastes your time, everything else is at best a bit dull. Still wouldn't say it's worth doing desu, at least getting all the red rings gives you the extra stages. >>39097 Wouldn't matter when i did everything anyways desu, i even S ranked the shadow stages.
>>39099 Did you do the SOS missions or whatever? I never see anyone talk about those, I had no idea they were even in the game until I played it
(17.55 KB 233x219 1709872138193001.jpg)

>>39098 Worthless activity is worse than nothing, i'd rather see a slow board than going back to the millionth shitshow about flynn or autistic shipfags samefagging till bump limit, i'm posting when i want, and whatever i want, as long as it's something i want to post, not just to keep some "activity" up, that's how you end up with a board that's nothing but crap.
>>39100 That's part of 100%, so yes.
>>39102 I tried doing some of them. Having to do them in one try messes with me a little because I'm not necessarily sure what it wants me to do, and when it comes to searching the hidden OCs I don't know where they're found, and since I only have one try it becomes harder to remember them as I have to play other stages before I'm allowed to try again. It might be fun though, I want to give it a proper shot someday
>>39096 But what's the point of making a game more generic in the first place?
>>39099 What drove you to do this? Why Forces when there are much better Sonic games to 100%? Are you going to torture yourself trying to 100% Lost World next?
(366.90 KB 773x1266 the thing they want.jpg)

>>39104 Orders from the SoA higher ups. Sonic 2006 served as evidence that westerners don't appreciate Sonic's original style and appealing to Sonic fans wasn't as profitable as they wanted it to be. So they thought it was a good idea to appeal to no one instead
>>39105 What is it that makes Lost World bad to 100%? I haven't played it yet, so I assumed 100% it was just Red Star Rings and S Ranks, like Colors
(18.04 KB 354x354 1730234094022812.jpg)

>>39103 They are colored, the rescue ones are colored cyan, and they suck, honestly i would just fail them on purpose to get better ones desu. >>39105 >What drove you to do this? Mostly a feeling of wanting to see if there was anything else to see in forces past the pitifully short main game, maybe completionist would make me see something there. Honestly, it's a bit more fun with some of the side content but it's nothing that special, it at least raised the game to be a 6/10 for me desu, still wouldn't say it's worth doing besides the red star rings for the extra levels. >Why Forces when there are much better Sonic games to 100%? Oh they'll have their turn, i just wanted to get it out of the way first. >Are you going to torture yourself trying to 100% Lost World next? I was doing that, then frozen factory 2 was so dogshit i took an extended break from it, i'll get back to finishing it up soon though.
>>39107 >What is it that makes Lost World bad to 100%? It has 100 Steam Achievements and a lot of them are arbitrary and not fun to complete.
>>39108 Do you remember what the hardest Red Star Ring to find was?
(7.47 MB 853x480 holyshit46.webm)

>>39083 Nigger do you think this place was created 2 months ago? It has been slower or faster but it has survived for over 10 years. Go play Sonic and post some webms, go draw Sonic and post your art, go search the internet and post someone else's art or news or obscure stuff, or tell people their Sonic theories are shit or something. Eventually discussing how to grow would be useful, but 8chan has struggled with that a lot. Either way this place is not going anywhere. >>39098 That is not really true you faggot, /fast/ was reasonably alive with its own posters and content in the past too and the reason it got so slow is because of how hard it got deplatformed for years, 4chan's 1 week outage is nothing in comparison. And we initially grew to that level of activity naturally by attracting posters from 4/sthg/ and elsewhere and if we keep it up we might again. But you will never get 10 replies in 1 second here and you will have to realize that is perfectly fine.
why are mommy and daddy fighting
>>39092 LW's OST is really mild and overstylized, it's not surprising. Really the Deadly 6 are so awkward that I wonder how the fuck the idea of creating them initially came up. It feels like it was some sort of Iizuka's whim that everyone had to put up with, and now they're a permanent part of the series without really deserving it. >>39104 Easier to make and no need to actually commit to something. Do you fags think (((video games news writers))) are as fixated on shitting on Sonic as before?
>>39132 >Why did they make so many Sonic themed Endless Runners in the 2010s? I guess they really wanted to cash in on the fad. They seemed pretty proud of it too lol, they used to mention their download numbers every chance they could get. >Sonic Forces PvP Racing Battle I don't remember that one at all. Was it actually PvP? Sounds a bit more interesting than the other endless runner clones if it was. Did they ever clear up why they considered Runners a failure and cancelled it? That seemed so abrupt and I remember it much more fondly than every other mobile game they released, so it's hard to imagine it actually was.
>>39135 >I guess they really wanted to cash in on the fad. They seemed pretty proud of it too lol Typical Sega, gassing themselves up for following the same trend that everyone else did. This is why they've never been hugely successful outside of Sonic, they only ever follow trends instead of trying to set them. >I don't remember that one at all. Was it actually PvP? That's Sonic Forces Speed Battle, they seemingly change the name each time I look at the App Store listing. >Did they ever clear up why they considered Runners a failure and cancelled it? I thought Sega's business reports mentioned that it didn't have enough players or engagement or whatever, but I'm not entirely sure what the exact reason was.
>>39135 >Did they ever clear up why they considered Runners a failure and cancelled it? That seemed so abrupt and I remember it much more fondly than every other mobile game they released, so it's hard to imagine it actually was. I've been wondering about that too. That's the mobile game I had the most fun with, and with all the remakes of it, it seems I'm not alone in that.
If Crossworlds, a spinoff, is $70, then does that mean Frontiers 2 and other mainline games will be $80?
>>39126 >Really the Deadly 6 are so awkward that I wonder how the fuck the idea of creating them initially came up. More Crossworlds trash. I love Sonic trash but it kind of peeves me that it seems everything has to have a shirt, a sweater, a phone cover, maybe some glasses. It feels so generic, it's like the kind of generic trash companies will give out to employees with their own brand at corporate events.

>>39184 Searched through the newest Sonic Frontiers videos for anything interesting and there wasn't anything worth posting. There was a drunk guy streaming the game who kept accidentally activating the Open Zone Challenges and said "What's a Ninja?" when he encountered a Ninja in Kronos, but beyond that he seemed to not really have any trouble with the game, so not interesting enough to post here. I searched up the names of other Sonic games and sorted by new and even less stuff came up for them (which really shows Frontiers' reach relative to the rest of the franchise).

Like it or not Zavok is the one bit of continuity in the post Colors canon: >Zavok was so strong against Sonic in Lost World that most of the Phantom Ruby clones made were of Zavok, including the one used to imprison and torture Sonic >Meanwhile Sonic has never fought any of the other enemies in Forces after Colors soft rebooted the Franchise effectively giving them no connection to Sonic >Zavok is also the only clone that Sonic has to fight alone even though the Avatar was present on the Death Egg, hinting at a sort of rivalry between him and Zavok >Zavok (the actual one) returned in TSR, not merely as another enemy, but as a surprise reveal near the end of the game's story >Since the Deadly Six have broken up after Lost World he's okay with working for Eggman now, the one bit of actual character growth to occur across games after Colors >In Frontiers Tails' mentioning of how he outsmarted the Deadly Six (accompanied by a photo of them) only to job to Chaos in Forces is one of the only callbacks in the entire game to actually work since there was already continuity between those games instead of it just being a memberberry >We're inevitably going to get more development of Zavok and Sonic's rivalry in Crossworlds (the game doesn't have a story, but Sonic will likely face him as a rival in Grand Prix mode)

It's kinda funny that they included stages from the games after the original Gens, so it now feels like a game that looks at the future instead of the past lol, but I'm sure it makes sense in game. I'm pretty happy that they included Park Avenue, it really disappointed me in Forces because as a stage it was lame but it felt like it could have been a lot more. I hope they did some justice to it. I'll try to look into finally downloading this soon. Do I need to have played Shadow's game to understand the story and what goes on? I think the Black Doom shit is never explained in any other game. How do you think Sega feels about having to revisit Shadow's lore? It looks like one of the most interesting parts of the series but they just decided to shelf it for decades until the movies brought it back up. It feels pretty retarded that they were struggling to create interesting content for the series for so long only for some 3rd party to come around and use some of the old content in an interesting way resulting in them having to follow their lead instead of coming up with it themselves.

Even games outside of Apple Arcade aren't immune to this, Apple occasionally pays to have AAA games ported to Mac (Cyberpunk 2077 for example) and then does absolutely nothing to inform anyone that these ports exist or even give solid release dates for them. >>39388 I'm not familiar with Sudachi, but I know Yuzu has Linux builds >I assume the game/switch code cannot do stupid shit outside the emulator It's possible that there's some bug that allows it, but realistically the chances are low, and it's unlikely someone would exploit it even if they knew about it. Surprisingly that's not really something that happens in those communities
>>39389 I was wondering because 60 pages seems like a lot. But that also says "first episode"
>>39380 kek, that relationship would be all kinds of broken. >>39381 I just ignored that show so hard that I completely forgot it was a thing. >Knuckles wasn't even really the main character I'm gonna forget about it even harder now holy shit, fuck these faggots. >>39386 I went searching but I noticed that all my images have Sonic at an angle from the camera, not facing it directly like in your image. And it makes sense, I've noticed before that it never looks good when he's facing the camera, but I just never noticed how much this was purposefully avoided.
>>39390 Oh yeah, that's a good idea. I see Yuzu in my distro's repos so chances are it's not full of poz and might be good to give that a try. >it's unlikely someone would exploit it even if they knew about it This came from a fit>girl release so I'm not keen on taking chances kek. But I agree that it'd be very rare to see an emulator escape exploit. >>39391 Yeah, but it seems it's 60 pages because it's the first episode, so if the next ones are less pages I could see it being a monthly release. IDW comics are 30 pages each. But it's true that it doesn't completely say what the release schedule will be. It's gonna be super lame if it's not monthly.

Grand Prix mode for Crossworlds announced... without really giving out much information.
>>39395 It's probably going to be exactly like the Grand Prix mode of TSR, but with one racer being assigned a more difficult CPU being your rival.
>>39395 I wanted to be excited for this game, but I see no reason to
>>39395 Any word on them having a mission mode?
>>39396 >difficult I think difficulty in Sonic games is like a forbidden topic, things always either end up piss easy or extremely difficult. How do you implement difficulty correctly in Sonic games and how do you make it so that players can adjust the difficulty level like in most other games? >>39398 I've become a bit curious to be honest. I don't think it'll be good but I'd like to play a few races. >>39399 Not that I know.
>>39400 I like when it's difficult
>>39400 What I think would be a good idea is that lowering the difficulty slider, creates more platforms and lowers Sonic's top speed, however I don't think that alone would solve the issue of difficulty.

>>39390 I started looking into running a standalone Switch emulator and I want to slice my veins with a rusty knife >yuzu was killed to death by a lawsuit from nintendo >a fork was made called suyu, which was abandoned early this year >another fork called Citron was apparently made by bad actors lol >another fork is or was called sudachi which is what came with the torrent I downloaded >when you search for it you get a few sites, and two of them call themselves the official one >apparently none of them are the actual official site lol >the about dialog on the binaries I have does not have a URL for whatever stupid reason >'strings sudachi.exe | grep http' yields an URL for a domain which has been squatted by cancer >the best I could find is some shady repositories with incomplete builds from months ago and no clues about their authenticity I just wanted to play video games.
>>39400 >How do you implement difficulty correctly in Sonic games and how do you make it so that players can adjust the difficulty level like in most other games? Castlevania III/Rondo of Blood method. Tie difficulty to character. Sonic is the standard difficulty and other characters have OP moves. As a bonus make Sonic have a higher potential ceiling for skilled players.
>>39403 Aren't the last stable versions of Yuzu and Ryujinx on Archive.org? Just use one of those. Or buy a hackable switch specifically to play pirated games on.
>>39404 Weren't Sonic 2 and 3 like this? Tails was easy mode, Sonic was normal and Knuckles was hard. Heroes sort of followed this structure too.
>>39400 >How do you implement difficulty correctly in Sonic games and how do you make it so that players can adjust the difficulty level like in most other games? Nintendo has perfected entry level games and the answer they gave is the only one available that minimizes development workload: Give the player a pseudo god-mode power up
>>39407 >Give the player a pseudo god-mode power up That's the worst way to do it (for players).
>>39405 The last stable version would be like a year and a half old and I'm not sure if that would be better than what I have. Either way I'm not executing random stuff downloaded from a site anyone can upload to.
>>39408 It's the most effective way to do it. Platforming is about the players ability to get through the obstacle course the designer made. If the player fails, they either suck or the challenge is too difficult. You can put a platform above a pit the player keeps failing at, or you can give the player the ability to jump higher and farther
>>39409 From what I've heard a most newer Switch games work in Yuzu and Riyujinx so it has a good shot at working. Even if it doesn't work, Frontiers, Superstars and all the other Switch Sonic games should still work. I downloaded CItra (the 3DS emulator taken down alongside Yuzu) from archive.org without it being malware. The pages with the actual versions of the emulators should logically be the ones with the most downloads.
(19.25 KB 221x162 1465771194751.jpg)

>>39404 But then wouldn't that get in the way of telling the game's story? I want to see a short comic of Knuckles trying to imitate being Sonic because someone tried to go through Sonic's story as him for difficulty reasons.
What was the reaction like when Zavok was announced as a playable character in TSR?
>>39411 I downloaded a patch to unlock the FPS and it seems to work fantastic like this so I think I'm keeping it. I just need to find my controller now. God damn Gens looks beautiful. Also lol Sonic has the drop dash now. >Superstars Is it actually worth playing this?

>>39433 In the past I often replayed the classic trilogy (especially Sonic 2) and the Adventure games, but lately I just occasionally replay the few stages I like in Forces

>>39433 I think I don't enjoy most Sonic games enough so as to want to go back to them often, and those that I enjoyed more I feel like I've played enough. I think I've probably replayed Gens and Colors the most. If I had more time I'd probably replay S3&K and Rush again.

SEGAAAA! Make a Sonic fighting game with all the characters! And my life is YOOOOURS!
>>39448 I don't care about fighting games but it would be so cool to have a proper game that actually uses the characters
I want the next game to have human NPCs again
Anyone else feel that Modern Sonic lacks iconic moments? Seems like most of the memorable scenes and events are from the first game to Unleashed >>39450 >human npcs Speaking of Unleashed, that was the last time we saw one which is inching close to twenty years. Sega must really not like human npcs, or alternatively Sonic Team doesn't care and just does whatever they want
>>39451 Well, they were controversial >Modern Sonic lacks iconic moments If you mean from 2010 onward, definitely yeah. There's the start of the fight with Giganto I guess. Forces has some cool moments, but I don't know if they managed to become iconic
>>39447 Are you really looking forward to that?? >>39451 Sonic games have been progressively reduced to the minimum expression, it's no wonder iconic moments were lost along the way. Having good OSTs was also a staple of the franchise and I fully expect those to also be a casualty. >Unleashed was almost 20 years ago Fucking hell what the fuck. I still feel like it's mid 2010s with Sonic because so little has happened since 2011. >Sega must really not like human npcs, or alternatively Sonic Team doesn't care and just does whatever they want Sonic Team is like a tired old man that just wants the easy way out of everything, and adding humans requires world building and effort. >pic Gun truck is much more iconic than the whale chase.
>>39453 >Are you really looking forward to that?? It looks more interesting than CrossWorlds. Which isn't a high bar at all, but still, I might try Rumble if they ever bother releasing it properly
1 week to Sonic's 34th birthday
>>39455 Do you think they'll make any big announcements?
>>39456 No way, lol. They haven't hinted at anything so far, but I hope there's something more than a tweet with an image.
>>39347 Because they know the market, people want to know what its like to kiss Sonic.
>>39451 The last time Sonic properly did in-level spectacle was Terminal Velocity in Colors. Forces tried and failed and Frontiers didn't try at all. >b-but the Titan Fights I said in-level spectacle. Not to mention that the fights don't seem to have the staying power of the sorts of spectacle you'd find in earlier games, when people think of Sonic their minds go more to things like the loops in Green Hill, the Whale Chase, the Truck Chase or some of the early, spectacle heavy levels from Unleashed instead of the Titan Fights.

Maybe that's why Crossworlds is so expensive, lol. With so many characters in the game creating interactions between them must have been a nightmare. I wonder how many lines are in a regular Sonic game, this feels like a lot of effort for something so shallow. Also movable beak is weird. >>39486 How are you measuring interest?
>>39487 By looking up "blade of courage" on major websites and finding zero post-release conversations about it.

>>39481 damn bump is just a wall of tits
I cant stop thinking about this idea.. with that whole Sonic X DC Crossover comic being a thing, it makes me wonder what would it be like if Sonic crossed with Marvel. Without the MCU meta humor quips and referencing old stuff just because of course.
>>39498 She has a reasonable bosom there. Actually looking at my Bump folder she's rarely drawn with huge tits. You'd think it'd be more common.
Sega is doing a huge mosaic of fanart for their 65th birthday and it made me realize that they sometimes do stuff like this and allow fans to add art to things. The comics do it, they used to do it for their streams, there are opportunities like this mosaic, and they did it in some of the games too. Have you fags ever submitted or had fanart featured in something official from Sega?
>>39500 In guess in general Bump being curvy is largely secondary to being a community thing/in-joke, and just being silly in general (even when that silliness is related to her ass n' tits). Actually, Rouge and Bump are giving me celebrity vs cashier vibes now lol
>>39502 >just being silly in general (even when that silliness is related to her ass n' tits). She's a tease and I'm not sure if she does it on purpose or if she doesn't even realize. She's really good at it kek.
>>39503 Bump and Sage are awesome, as are the many personal OCs I've seen on /sthg/. I almost definitely wouldn't still be coming here if not for the OCs

>>39481 >clover backgrounds lol nice
>>39487 Seems Crossworlds will be lip synced to the English voice over. It looks terrible in Japanese lol.
>>39505 The more deer and sloth pictures the better. Bump and Sage are surprisingly neat characters
>>39501 Do they not do streams like that anymore?
>>39501 I didn't get the chance, maybe someday
>>39507 I think that's been the case for quite a while with Sonic games. I thought someone said it was synced to Japanese and not English this time though
>>39509 I was checking a while back and the last ones they did were from last year I think, I don't know if that means they stopped or just haven't yet started this year. It always struck me as really weird that they never publicized the streams much, they barely ever mentioned them anywhere. It's like they just wanted them to remain small. I'm also surprised they lasted this long honestly, I'd think these streams would have been a huge chore to do and the audience was small, and I imagine they're very busy with how big Sonic has grown and how much stuff they have to handle for social media compared to when they started.
If a single Death Leech can regenerate into Black Doom, then how can they ever get rid of him? Black Doom only needs to hide enough Death Leeches as insurance. He will always come back for more. They're both immortal, so Shadow will fight against him for all eternity.
>>39513 maybe there's only a few of them

Also while looking for it I wound up on Mangadex and there's a few Sonic mangas I haven't even heard of before, might be cool to do a storytime of those too one day, but several seem incomplete. >>39516 Why is that?
>>39523 Yeah, as far as I know they are not only not translated, but most issues are also not available online at all. I would be curious to read the 2000s mangas. Were the 2000s mangas published by Corocoro as well? Maybe with the success of the new mangas they might rerelease the old ones
>>39524 >Maybe with the success of the new mangas they might rerelease the old ones Sega used to be super careless about IP rights, I would not be surprised if they don't have the rights anymore or if they don't even know if they have the rights or not. Hell, I'd be surprised if they remember these mangas exist. >Were the 2000s mangas published by Corocoro as well? Seems like some were, see pic 1. >mfw pic 2
>>39525 They remember the 90s mangas at least since those had some images included in Origins

>>39597 Someone needs to fucking release a cleaned up version of the main theme. Holy shit it's so noisy.
I'm not very interested in either of these games, but so far I think TSR had a much more enjoyable soundtrack
Alright I read the first issue of Blade of Courage. Maybe later I'll check out Windii's translation (released a few hours ago), and compare them with the machine translation from the other day
I don't understand why they're not updating Frontiers to run better on Switch 2 I also don't understand why they never made an update to fix the pop in issues in Frontiers
>>39596 The opening animations were sweet, hopefully they'll continue putting back the things they took out of the games and make a less barebones experience. But ultimately I hope they don't squander the effort in mediocre games, they do that so often and it's so frustrating.
>>39613 Same. I remember Kishimoto commented on prerendered cutscenes and he was surprised fans were disappointed they're not in the games anymore, so I can see them coming back in the main games
>>39614 I'm not sure how I feel about prerendered cutscenes. I've always found them a bit jarring due to the contrast with the in game graphics.

I want a real challenge this time! Storm to Knuckles: Oh, you'll get it! I'mma rock you like a hurricane! Except all that "rain" is gonna be your tears!
Tails to Amy: I'm a pro with any and every vehicle. No hard feelings when I come in first, all right? Amy to Tails: I've been driving as long as you've been flying! Don't count me out yet! Shadow to Cream: The competition will be fierce. Are you prepared for it? Cream to Shadow: I will do my best, Mr. Shadow! Just you watch! Shadow to Cream: I must overcome!
I watched many videos and these are all the ones I could find. There is rival dialogue during the races as well, but I didn't bother with that since it's more common. There is also rival dialogue the end, as well as victory animations, but I only saw a few of those

Since Lost World gets referenced so much, will Sonic Team ever port it to modern consoles? It would be nice if they could bring back all the features that got cut when it was ported to PC.

I'm playing SxSG and when playing Classic Sonic the idiot hedgehog won't start moving unless I jump, if I just move the stick or use the D pad or the keyboard it's very difficult to get him moving even though it's clearly registering as he changes direction. Maybe Hello Kitty could get in since Sega owns a stake in Sanrio. Maybe Garfield or something cheap to license out like that. >Would be kinda cool if they put Mega Man in but I don't think that's happening. The Megaman license is apparently pretty cheap given his appearance in Funko Fusion and Sega and Capcom collaborated with the Monster Hunter DLC for Frontiers, so it's not off the table. I'd just consider it unlikely due to Megaman not being popular enough. I could see them adding Monster Hunter characters come to think of it.
>>39794 I like Green Light Ride and its remixes, and the music for the tracks. Some of them are remixes of music from the main games, others are original compositions. Most of them are by Senoue, or remixes of Senoue's music by guest composers and collaborations with them, so it feels similar to the Adventure games and Heroes. I like Sky Road as well, it's the only one that doesn't involve Senoue at all (it's Ohtani's), and I think it's getting a new remix in CrossWorlds iirc years ago I read an interview where Senoue said he worked with guest composers on most of the soundtrack because he wanted it to be a team effort to match the game's theme, which is why I find it weird that Sky Road is just Ohtani There are some character theme jingles and music for story scenes, but I don't care about those https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YcErcJmHbY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6rMy9rBAAo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuuovO_HZzY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMo7BECJ9mw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCkXMkDGER4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW5xss5ZUEc
>but I don't care about those I'm referring to the story music here btw. The character themes are nice, but they're just short jingles Still kinda confused by how they used Reach for the Stars as Sonic's theme instead of It doesn't matter or His World
>>39795 >Maybe Hello Kitty could get in since Sega owns a stake in Sanrio. Oh right, Hello Kitty could also a good alternative and they've collaborated with Sonic before. >>39798 That one is completely original as far as I know. Some people claim there's a small segment that references the original music for Planet Wisp (which would make sense since that's where the track takes place) but it's so short and it sounds so different it might just be a coincidence

https://youtu.be/u-qexQu_pNM Why did Runners have such a good OST for a mobile game that barely lasted a year?
>>39787 What other IPs does Paramount/Warner bros have? Batman? South Park? Looney Tunes? Beavis & Butthead?
>>39804 Runners is really a mystery to me. It actually felt pretty solid all around, it had some great ideas and the OST still pops up in my head from time to time, as do the sound the crystals made when you picked them up. I really hate they cancelled it, although they were getting really jewish with the micotransactions so maybe it was for the best for it to remain a good memory than become some sort of distorted monstrosity over time like all mobile games do.
Played more of Sonic Lost World 3DS and it has firmly cemented itself as the worst 3D Sonic game. In particular Frozen Factory Zone 3 and Silent Forest Zone 2 were some of the worst levels of any game I've ever played. Frozen factory Zone 3 was a sysiphean hell of rolling snowballs while under attack from a giant invincible snowball and infinitely respawning penguins. Silent Forest Zone 2 is a horribly slow rail grinding level with tons of turtle enemies that take a million hits to kill and unfun rail switching and wall switching made painful by Sonic's inconsistent controls, plus touching the ground slows Sonic down even more from his already abysmally slow normal speed and ruins his jump. It's a draw on which one is the worst Sonic level ever made and I still have two worlds left to complete.
>>39805 I thought Paramount and Warner Bros were competitors. Is SEGA working with both?
>>39807 I wish the 3DS had good Sonic games. It's such a disappointment, especially when compared to the GBA and DS. Generations 3DS is the only decent one
>>39787 I expect it to be someone like Batman. They even have a collab comic with WB where Shadow is Batman, so it'd be logical, but there's a ton of possibilities so I could be wrong. details are murky. it's not known exactly where, or when, it started. but there is said to be an entire community's worth of sonic fans from the internet living together in real life, in some sort of secret way. what they do is also a mystery, apart from it being a good assumption that sonic the hedgehog appears more often than in other social circles. only a few things are consistent: the population is about 20~40 individuals, they are located in a desert-ish area (sometimes said to be arizona in particular), and they live together in one large building (perhaps an old church or an abandoned warehouse). the only other piece of identifying information about the site is just two words, "three pillars." there is no known context, other than that you'll know what it means if you ever see it. this could refer to the building's construction, a geographical feature outside, or something less direct, such three discarded metal beams simply lying in a pile outside a warehouse.

Is this a correct assessment of the boost formula's evolution?
>>39902 >Colors began life as the wii port of generations Is that actually real? Colors was released before Generations. And considering the short development cycles of games around that era it's hard to believe Generations started being developed before Colors. Additionally Colors has more content than Generations, which would be weird if it was meant to be just a port and was completed before the game it was supposed to port even though it started development later
>>39903 >Is that actually real? Colors was released before Generations. It's never been outright confirmed, but there's a lot of evidence for it either having been the Wii port of Gens or having the Wii port of Gens' code and assets merged into it after it was scrapped. >It's built in a stripped down version of the Hedgehog Engine >Many of the assets in the game's files are tagged with the prefix "sd", meaning standard definition, implying that an HD port of the game exists >Some of the Gameland levels are just copy-pastes of Genesis levels, much like how the 3DS version of Gens has copy-pastes of Genesis levels
>>39902 It seems fine overall, but I find some of the descriptions odd
>>39904 >>It's built in a stripped down version of the Hedgehog Engine Source?
>>39906 Yeah, some of them need to be updated, I realized some of them were off after replaying the games after I made that image.
>>39908 I've seen that page before, and it seems reputable because the information on there is good. But it doesn't make sense to me because my understanding is that the Hedgehog Engine is for lighting, and Colors doesn't use that lighting. Also, the page doesn't say anything about it being "stripped down", it just claims the game uses the Hedgehog Engine
>>39904 >It's built in a stripped down version of the Hedgehog Engine I remember this from back in the days. Why does it point at it being a Gens port and not something that had Unleashed HD as base? That would make a lot more sense. Generations had Unleashed HD as a base too. >Many of the assets in the game's files are tagged with the prefix "sd", meaning standard definition, >implying that an HD port of the game exists Does it? Maybe they had a PC version for development purposes like with Unleashed, but never released it. I really hate that they did this. Imagine playing Unleashed on a PC on release, running buttery smooth, and the modding that would have come with it.
Mimic is dead.
>>39914 I ain't opening that shit. where's the storytime eggman?
>>39914 I haven't kept up with the comic or even read this issue, but doesn't his death seem a bit anticlimatic for how long it was built up for?
>>39912 >Why does it point at it being a Gens port and not something that had Unleashed HD as base? If it were it's own project, Kishimoto and his team would've continued usng the engine from the storybook games since they were already trained on that, the only reason to bring in a new engine when they already had a functional one would be if they were porting a different game using that engine. >Maybe they had a PC version for development purposes like with Unleashed, but never released it. There probably was such a version, but it likely used the same assets as the Wii version since they never brought the game to other platforms, if they had HD versions of the assets, Colors would've been shipped out for HD consoles as well.
>>39919 Yes.

Sonic games are fun
>>39951 When you don't run into a bug.
>>39953 Bugs can be fun sometimes
>>39954 When I was a kid playing Sonic 06 for the first time, I encountered the glitch where Tails immediately dies when he respawns in the hub. It freaked me out.
>>39955 I don't understand, what happened exactly?
>>39958 When you're in the hub world in 06, one of the follower characters (Tails and Knuckles for Sonic, Rouge and Omega for Shadow, Blaze and Amy for Silver) can die by falling in water, but they respawn after a few moments. Sometimes when they respawn, though, they make their death cry and lay dead on the ground. The only clip I could find of it in action was from someone's stream. All the other videos just show the aftermath. Weird, I thought this was a well known bug. https://youtu.be/bi_vr1_-ZE4?si=i91Vaq72V5VYkQve&t=12
>>39960 >new official art for Mephiles Cool
>>39935 They didn't want to be the only characters that didn't give Duo a beating so they're getting down to it before he's officially killed.
>>39961 Oh that's pretty bad. Seriously looks like something from a creepypasta. It never happened in my time playing the game
>>39961 You know, seeing that hubworld really makes me want to play 06. It's larger than any other hubworld pre-Frontiers and more alive than any hubworld outisde of Unleashed. It's just a vast space where you can fuck around with Sonic and interact with NPCs while feelinglike you're actually in a place, I really hope Frontiers 2 is a more fleshed out version of this.
>>39970 You should give it a try. I had a lot of fun with it despite its reputation, and I know several others who have as well.
>>39970 I like the old town. Unfortunately the other two hubs aren't as good. But I like hubs in general so I'm glad they're there. Still the most fun part of the game are the stages, when they're good >>39971 I was about to say the same thing, except the bit about knowing others who feel the same way
>>39971 I'd love to, but I don't have a system that can play it and I don't remember it emulating very well. I've been meaning to buy a PS3 or 360 at some point, but I can never justify the purchase. >I had a lot of fun with it despite its reputation, and I know several others who have as well. I had the same experience with Sonic R, I had only heard horrible things about it going in only for it to wind up being one of the more enjoyable 3D Sonic games.
>>39972 >Unfortunately the other two hubs aren't as good. But I like hubs in general so I'm glad they're there. Yeah, Soleanna Forest Especially seems really incomplete. >Still the most fun part of the game are the stages, when they're good How badly is everything brought down by Sonic's bad jump and the general bugginess of the game?
>>39973 I heard the Xbox 360 version emulates well now, but I haven't tried it personally. I want to though, that Legacy of Solaris mod looks cool
>>39975 06 is such an infamous game that I'll have to try the vanilla version before looking into mods, but Legacy of Solaris definitely looks worth trying.
>>39974 The jump is very strange, but I don't think it's bad actually. In a way I like the way it gives more control in the air. I was more disappointed by the Homing Attack, and especially the Spin Dash and the Bounce, since they feel way more limited than in previous games. Also everything outside of the mach speed section (and Blaze for some reason) feels slow, I got used to it but it could have been more enjoyable >the general bugginess of the game It was less broken than I expected. There are specific sections, like certain springs or other objects, the mach speed sections and anything involving Shadow's vehicles, that are very broken and frustrating. But generally that isn't true for most of what you do in the stages, and after a while I learned to maneuver around the problems. In the end I think the bugs are not that big of a deal. Some parts of the game are boring to play (town missions, forced combat, Shadow's vehicles), and I find that to be a much bigger issue. I wish the game was better, but I find most stages fun to replay and try to S rank
>>39977 >The jump is very strange, but I don't think it's bad actually. In a way I like the way it gives more control in the air. But generally that isn't true for most of what you do in the stages, and after a while I learned to maneuver around the problems. You know a while ago somebody said that 06 is a good game if you happen to play it in a very specific way and avoid most of the glitches, and what you're saying lends more credence to this. I think a couple journalists gave it 7/10 and even 8/10 ratings when it came out, so it's likely that they managed to play it "correctly" by pure chance.

>>39988 I seriously don't understand why Nintendo is like this. They've done this type of "bug fix" for their other games as well. They put their "intended experience" over people actually having fun.
>>39989 That might be okay if it's exclusive to an otherwise free version of the game
>>39990 at least this makes more sense than that cooking company that had a TF2 promo
>>39990 How many racing collabs has Sonic done over the course of the franchise? I remember there being one for some dirt biking event last year and a sponsorship with a different racing team earlier this year.
>>39991 Nintendo doesn't sell fun, it sells predictability.
>>39995 I guess, but these are such minor aspects of the games, it makes no sense
>>39988 This was like an easy win for Nintendo with their game and yet they're shooting themselves on the foot
>>39990 I will not care unless they put Neo Metal Sonic on a car
>>39990 No, I want Amy x Shadow moments. I want Sonic to be their best man too. He is the best ring keeper, after all.
>>39970 >more alive than any hubworld outisde of Unleashed. Disagree. There isn't actually much to do. There are missions, which is good in theory, but the load times make them unbearable, and so few of the missions are actually fun in any way. Maybe if they had more dev time they'd have been better, but they didn't. The NPCs also don't have their own storylines like they do in Sonic Adventure. Some of them are certainly memorable, like Sonicman or Pele The Beloved Dog, but in the end I don't end up caring as much about them as I do about the Burger Shop couple or that dude outside Twinkle Park that is cheating on two bitches. Those characters have stories that you actually watch progress through a non-linear narrative. Also, Sonic Adventure does a better job at using NPC dialogue to justify gameplay elements, like the train workers expressing dissatisfaction before eventually going on strike (and thus blocking you from the Mystic Ruins), or the gambling-addicted mother's storyline being tied in to Twinkle Park's changing operating schedule, making it seem more like a story element rather than just a progression gate. >>39973 >I had the same experience with Sonic R, I had only heard horrible things about it going in only for it to wind up being one of the more enjoyable 3D Sonic games. People who actively dislike Sonic R are often just playing it wrong. They try to play it like a platformer instead of a racing game. Play it like a racing game and it's pretty good. As good as Mario Kart 64? No. As good as Crash Team Racing? Hell no. But the way that it does have light platforming elements, and more exploration than other racing games, does give it something that other games don't have. Its biggest problem is merely that it is so lacking in content. Having so few stages in a racing game is a total ripoff. But Balloon Mode does add a bit more content than you'd otherwise have. Sonic '06 also isn't as bad as everyone says, and many of the memesters say it's bad for the wrong reasons. But ultimately the load times are ridiculous and the Town Stages are too half baked to be anything but boring, even though I love the idea of them, and I love the hub worlds in other Sonic games. Also, the Action Stages, while tolerable, suck compared to Sonic Adventure 2. I don't know if I'd say they're much worse than Heroes or Shadow, though. Maybe a bit worse, but not that much.
>>40003 I agree with you regarding the hubs, but I like the castle town hub, it's fun to explore and mess around in I also want to clarify that some of the dialogue does update as you go through the stories, it's not all static. It just isn't as in-depth as Adventure and Unleashed. Once again it's something they clearly wanted to explore further, but didn't get the chance to

>>40010 Oh yeah, it looks great in the intro too. The intro itself is cool When I wrote that post I was more thinking about it in terms of the scenery and decorations, especially the background which is just white clouds in CW, while in TSR it's a lot more colorful. But you're right it's true of the layout as well
>>40007 it's hard for me to watch stuff like this sometimes like when you have a late-nite host promoting some awful movie, you can hear that there's no soul left in them, they're practically not even human, just husks that appear on the screen to make their 6/7 figures, you don't have to sympathize with them because they don't need your sympathy, they've made the choice that they're living for the paycheck first and foremost but situations like this, these guys still have hopes and dreams that do not involve pitching random garbage made by people they'll never meet, you can see it in their eyes, and they're definitely not making a killing from it

>superstars So why did the Mania team actually not stick around for more games? They were retrofags autistically obsessed with Genesis Sonic for so many years, they probably studied the disassembly of the old games to the point of memorizing it, they made mods and new games and engines and shit all revolving around Classic Sonic and actively lobbied Sega for years to revive Classic Sonic and when they finally get what they want they quietly leave??
>>40017 well it can be framed any way you want it but it all comes down to simple business the team and sega could not agree on a price for their future work clearly they thought their time and effort would be better spent working elsewhere
>>40019 This is just a rumor
>>40020 if they had come to an agreement, they would still be working together at least one party didn't make an offer, or didn't accept an offer
