Anyone from 4chan's /lit/ on here? Who's not dead?
Haven't visited /lit/ in a long time, but here. Maybe 8chan's /lit/ and /g/ will be decent, but I'm not holding my breath.
>>685 (OP) Still alive
>>685 (OP) Here I am. Where did all the litfags go? Was there an emergency discord ever made?
>>689 Not that I'm aware, never heard of any /lit/ discords.
>>685 (OP) Yep, I'm here. Just found this board.
>>685 (OP) I am here.
Is there any other altchans that might have a more active /lit/ board?
>>685 (OP) I'm around. Not sure where most of us went but it's whatever. After 8ch's original shutdown it was never the same so who knows what'll happen with 4chan.
>>685 (OP) I’m here. Will be a shame if the main site doesn’t come back, even in its dying state it was one of the last few semblances of good book discussion online. Perhaps I’ll finally get off these altchans for good and spend more time reading. Atleast I still have rsbc.
>>695 Lainchan’s /lit/ is fairly active for an altchan but still quite slow. I know 8kun has one as well but I have never been. >>689 I’m in one “official /lit/ discord” and another book club server but both are quite dead/circlejerky and barely seemed to react to the main site going down.
It seems like /lit/ was a really fragile community because I've barely seen any of us on the other chans
>>700 I can't live like this, I NEED my daily consumption of /lit/ shitposts and threads
petrarchan.com is somewhat alive
>>704 So many chans.. I’ve never even heard of that one. What are we going to do if 4chan stays dead? Our community will fragment if there’s no consensus

>>700 I just plan on reading books until/if /lit/ comes back. This site seems like it may be a little *too* heavy on the autistic retard jack off content.
I feel like 4chan was one of those things you don't really actively want until you can't have it. I've been going since 2009. I was only 12 years old in 2009, that's literally most of my life browsing off and on. As retarded and shitty as it's gotten in that time, the rest of the internet is immeasurably worse. I was too young to ever really get into niche IRCs and places like that so it was the first and mostly the last place where people with autistic levels of interest in something would post seriously about it, actively gatekeep faggots away from their hobbies, and not have an account with a reputation to worry about. >>705 /lit/ was already about as slow as a board could be while still having some semblance of a community. It might just be over.
>>685 (OP) i'm not too optimistic. /lit/ already had a small usebase.
I'd like to thank anons for sharing lit boards itt. For convenience and sharing's sake, I'll make a list of them: ∙ 8chan.moe/lit/ (you are here) ∙ petrarchan.com/pt (in fact a single-board IB) ∙ lainchan.org/lit/ ∙ tvch.moe/lit/ (kind of dead) ∙ 8kun.top/lit (I'd recommend not using this one, suspicious administration) If someone knows of any others please share. I'll be honest, I'd rather not splinter an already small community. I have no idea - so far - which would be best to gather in, maybe that could be the topic of this thread? If so, I'd like scribes here to consider one thing: are the administrators and mod team trustworthy? Never thought I'd see the day 2^2 chan would go down. Yet here we are. Maybe it can be for good? A chance to start anew with better software and better mods.

Huh, did you guys know this site has a fanfiction board? That's kind of cool, we were always bitching before about how there's no place to talk about fanfics on 4chan.

Shame there's no active writing thread. There's only one and it's dead from 2021. There's also /s/ but also dead. Writing bros I don't feel so good.
>>707 Same, anon. 2009 was also when I found 4chan. I was 14 at the time
>>685 (OP) I guess I'll be around here until 4chan is revived somehow
>>721 lol, it's already dead.
>>685 (OP) I survived. Usually I'm on the /sffg/ thread.
>>712 I don't know anything about the site admins aside from some random hearsay on twitter and other threads, but they seem pretty hands off. I am pretty sure this board doesn't have jannies and the board owner probably fucked off years ago considering the last post here before we arrived was from 2023 so I guess we're alone here. Personally I'll be browsing here and posting occasionally as well as on Petrarchan for the time being but I'm optimistic about the mainsite coming back up in a few weeks.
yeah. hopefully there's not a shit ton of repetitive threads on this one. would like someone to start a /history/ general too, just like in the past.
>>685 (OP) Alive and reading
>>712 Lainchan seems to be the most active and insightful among these.
petrarchan is pretty nice actually, hopefully it manages to pull in a decent number of the old /lit/crowd
>>721 looks ugly, like a website from 1993. >>739 it certainly won't pull me in.

>>736 Anon, the current top thread beneath the stickies on lainchan's /lit/ is from 2020 and has 50 posts. From a casual glance the content seems okay but it is absolutely dead.
>>807 I think the problem is that Goodreads exists, a social network based around books and nothing else. Imageboards are websites for weirdos who may or not be into books. It's amazing how there's anyone interested in them. At least we don't read those Meta Reels smut.
>>685 (OP) I wasn’t a regular in /lit/ but I started reading a pretty fun book recently and it never occurred to me I should go to /lit/ to see if anyone else has read it and talk about it. It’s gone now obviously so I came here to try my luck but it doesn’t seem like there much prospect here. Sad…
Should we start a book club here to give some life to this board? Fiction or nonfiction, let's just pick something and stick to it!

>>818 Eh, I don't get the impression that Goodreads really poached many people who would otherwise use /lit/ exclusively. It's a horrible, horrible site, nobody comfortable in the 4chan format would willingly move to one where everyone is so blatantly fellating themselves and posturing. You can call /lit/ posters pretentious faggots all you want but they won't denigrate classics for upvotes. If 4chan disappearing didn't breathe life into lainchan, nothing will. This place seems to be the liveliest alt for now. The best thing that's come out of the whole crisis seems to be all the election kiddies who thought 4chan was about screaming nigger nigger nigger and Freudian obsessions with everybody being hidden trannies now think that the sharty is le ebin based for bringing it down and have sequestered themselves there. Maybe they're all on discord or tiktok or something, but they don't seem to have followed anyone to 8chan, petrarchan, etc.
>>706 >unironic tranny cuck board No wonder everything smells like shit
>>823 Sorry to say but if anything this place is exactly like that. It seems to be where a lot of people who were dissatisfied with the reddit-lite site 4chan became in recent years have moved to. Funnily enough, pretty much everyone is pretty chill and I’ve seen actual discussion transpiring regardless, so it ends up working out anyway with the lack of bots and jeets infesting the place.
yes. I miss my /lit/, I hope this place catches on

>>825 It's more that I think the election tourists who specifically took to 4chan because they thought he was the biggest, edgiest kid on the playground are now going to the sharty because it gave 4chan a black eye. But who knows, really - it's only been a few days. I think I can live with this place and petrarchan for now. The admin there is trying to use his increased traffic positively by making a new online lit mag and I'm thinking about helping him with that.

I'm not dead yet. I am mostly a /lit/ lurker thoughbeit. I have a feeling a lot of the board consisted of lurkers. Hopefully most people eventually find their way over here. >>712 >altchan posting stats https://marge.moe/ >list of altchans https://wiki.soyjak.st/List_of_imageboards
>>847 >that pic you seem familiar somehow…
>>849 I don't remember where I saved it from. Perhaps /int/ or /r9k/.
>>852 ah, probably have you confused then kek

>>845 Days last an eternity in internet time. Nowadays, a meme gets invented on TikTok, gets so forced for a day or two and then dies before the end of the week. You underestimate how quickly zoomers can just move on, shit, there are alphies on chans already. >>852 maybe /tg/. Fatguys always had borderline lewd pics posted regularly.
>>858 True stuff, their attention spans have been absolutely crippled for over a decade now,
>>859 I think the shorter attention span is an evolutionary adaptation to life being dangerously shit for the last few decades. If you stop and think, you just get depressed, at least in the West and Wstern-aligned countries. We were brought up to believe being calm, steady and literate is the way to go, but young people now see how wrong we were. You need to be active, hyper even, in order to make it these days. There's a reason kids today want to be influencers and e-whores. They realized from young age that being a nerd won't really get you anywhere in life. They aren't so stupid. They know that legacy media stars are industry plants and nepo babies. They know the good positions are reserved for the established families. If the game of life is rigged, why take it seriously?
>>699 > I’m in one “official /lit/ discord” and another book club server but both are quite dead/circlejerky There's your problem. Discord is for zoomers and trannies.
>>721 shit board
>>724 The best thread.
>>724 >>870 What’s that?
(459.14 KB 1844x2130 4f26de_12432691.jpg)

I want smut and smut resources
>>873 I forget the artist but I love this girl
>>872 If you have to ask, you don't need to know.
>>903 >le sekrit klub Very true in a way.
And so we fled to the four winds
4chan is apparently returning soon to whom it may concern.
>>963 How SOON is soon?
>>967 2 weeks
>>967 Sadly it’s look like an actual 2 more weeks (unironically) minimum. They are working on it though, so a complete shut down is unlikely at this point at least.
Chan is back people. See you over there
>>996 Nah, fuck em
