The unfortunate truth though that I've only just realized now is that your receiver only has the AM mode, when most hams nowadays for voice use a mode called SSB which AM receivers can pick up only in a distorted way. You may need to look into either somehow modifying the receiver to give it SSB support or you may have to rely on the transceiver for SSB communications. I'm not entirely sure what you need to switch between a receiver and a transceiver when you push to talk mind you, I'm just assuming you can do it with any. The typical "budget" transceiver is gonna be the chunk Xiegu G90, which only gives you about 20 watts of power and 5 watts with AM. Unfortunately, 5 watts with AM is gonna get you near-nowhere. A new G90 is gonna set you back about $500 or so including a cheap lithium battery for a couple hours of use before recharging. If you want more power, the ICOM 7300 has 100 watts SSB/25 watts AM, which would set you back about a grand not including power supply. If you want to talk on AM effectively you're likely gonna need an amplifier to increase your output power as high as possible. Good luck and sorry for not being able to tell you earlier bro.

Sorry, I forgot I made this thread for a while: the breadboard was a waste of space and painful, so I just hooked everything up to a server rack, they're running diet pi and should work, but I haven't actually set up the RF modulators fully yet so I can't confirm 100% that it all works yet, but it should do I've gotten myself a nice AI server for cheap to make code since I'm retarded, the commodore monitor pictured didn't work because it's 15khz so I swapped for an IBM one for now but I plan to switch back in the future because it looks nice, I also bought a nice keyboard pictured to complete the aesthetic, and I'm getting a new desk because just using this stuff at the rack is annoying Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys! you're awesome for helping me!
