>Has something like that ever happened in a gacha?
Not really. You can consider ZZZ. The removal of the TV gameplay required a recreation of parts of season 1.
I don't know the final result of that though.
>a recent HSR arc was basically just a worse rehash of ER+EE
Yeah. I finished that one. The idea is cute but the delivery leaves much to be desired.
This is what they were going for (in their own words):
<The same seed, when planted in different soils, blooms into flowers that are alike, yet never the same.
<(Cued by "Cyrene is a pen name, and my real name is Ely-").
It's an obvious declaration that they were using the Seed Of Elysia™ and planting it into HSR.
Anyway, I'm not going to elaborate because I'm not here to talk about HSR.
I'll just say that the need to sell individual characters (2 of them every version) was more noticeable than the story they wanted to tell.
Well, if they had at least 30% of the current HI3's detail in delivery, it would have been more palatable.
>I don't even think it'd be that difficult to address its issues
The safest way is to remove all the technobabble (more specifically, the unnecessary real physics analogies) and put it in an optional readable content.
