#OPContainmentBreach Anonymous 02/21/2017 (Tue) 23:21:42 Id: fd0fd7 No. 330165
It's been suggested in the /v/ thread that we get together and make short and simple videos, á la #GamerGate in 60 seconds, for easy distribution Pic related What we need: >Anons to write short and concise but still informative scripts >Well articulated and charismatic anons to read it >Drawfags for art/illustrations Thread name is my suggestion for OP name Suggestions and input are welcome
>>330165 >Suggestions and input are welcome I hope your OP name suggestion isn't dear to your heart, because that is goddamn generic. I'm partial to OP Follywood.
For starters, we need a better OP name. Besides that, we need to choose a topic, and begin doing the scripts ASAP. We can get more people interested if they realize that we're making things happen.
>>330166 Nah, I just went with the first thing that came to mind >>330167 Absolutely agree with this We need to get the momentum going >>330168 Go ahead, please
First question, is this strictly vidya/GG related or general politics? IE, do we cover the bullshit with Milo right now or should we go for the latest "localization" hack-job?
Should those of us interested show the outlets we already exist on? >>330169 >>>330168 >Go ahead, please Sorry, deleted the post to make one longer post instead of double posting. >>330167 >Besides that, we need to choose a topic, and begin doing the scripts ASAP. We can get more people interested if they realize that we're making things happen. This may come off as a bit…cliche, but how about making the first episode about the U.S.'s constitutional amendments and how they apply to what's going on now in the world of gaming and other assorted media? Also, I'm hesitant to say this, but why don't we also see about recruiting some people from /pone/ and /rwby/? If anything, the reactions posted in the "Political Autism" threads (/pone/), "Volume 4" thread (/rwby/), and the crossover thread seems to be a sign of people wanting something to do: >>>/pone/277257 >>>/rwby/28398 >>>/pone/281205
>>330170 General politics is an iffy issue. I'd say we have to focus on the media and games bullshit instead of politics. >>330172 Don't recruit anyone until we get the first video online. Then we can show it and ask for help.
>>330172 >the U.S.'s constitutional amendments and how they apply to what's going on now in the world of gaming and other assorted media Can you make it snappy and straight to the point? Write up something and post it >>330174 I'd say general politics, outside of free speech etc., is ripe for divide and conquer But, I wanted to lift the question for input
>>330176 I'll see what I can do.
Look at Sargon's "meme media" series or Crowcab for how he showcases how shit a person/game is. They just show the footage in context and let them shoot themselves with it. However, here are some golden rules if you want to go further: - Never twist context. Provide as much as possible, and link to the original source. It's easy to demonize everyone involved with the opposite side, but some aren't as bad as others. Don't make a goblin look like a dragon, or no one will think actual dragons are a credible threat. - Use Royalty free music and sometimes flip footage. Both will prevent some take-downs (the footage itself can get it pulled if we get it from a news broadcast for example. Once we build an audience (which if we are posting it enough on social media, we should) we can upload to smaller video websites that DGAF and provide a link to it in a short youtube vid ("We can't show this here, so follow the link below"). For example, Fine Game Bitches often uploads to https://vid.me/ when they want to do content too raunchy for Youtube. - Use Youtube for as long as we can, and have to. We don't have the power to stop false down-votes, views vanishing, or comments being raided (other than turning comments off which makes us look bad IMO). Never be afraid to upload to other websites and share those links as well. We're not doing this for youtube clicks and money, we're doing this for everyone to see. Have more than one place to watch. - Subtitles are better than bad voice over. Follow these 2 videos on the equipment you should use if you do use VAs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sjZJ9i_mH0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkTWBFYaJmE Also ask VAs to stay anonymous. Many will want to link it to their "professional" work in hope of some day getting hired. Make it clear anyone working on this could be attacked- both in terms of opportunities and actual threats and harm. So, we'd only want to hire VAs from here than even a good-sounding youtuber IMO. - Avoid making jokes. Our opponents do that well enough already with their behavior. Be clinical, and present info. Let others make memes. And/Or - Be outrageous and meme like hell. Make funny shit that'll spread- people ask the context and then they get redpilled. If you want to do the serious and the meme uploads, I'd have them as two separate channels.
>>330172 TBH, with how big /v/ is, anyone on those boards will also be on /v/, they'll see the call to arms. And if they don't- we don't need 'em IMO. If they're sick of the sort of shit we are, they'd have joined us by now.
So, what's the topic? I'm thinking that if we have to provide as much context as possible, it wouldn't be possible to reach the "less than two minutes" target time. We should make something to show extended versions of the scripts, something like "for more info click here". Can we try something like a "test video"? The topic would be "Why videogames shouldn't be considered art", and the script would be something like "Because modern art has no standards, and games have a well defined standard based on gameplay, graphics, sound and plot" with a link to the PragerU video about why modern art sucks.
>>330179 Solid advice I think, if possible, we should make and upload them here as .mp4s first. .mp4 because then we can spread it on twatter and imageboards and anyone interested can upload them to their YouTube-channels etc. >no-one owns the video so no e-celeb drama >we always keep going even if someone drops out >easy to spread >no jerking around with YouTube channels It's a team effort where everyone is replaceable so there are no fault lines or weak-points We're not re-inventing short-films just putting the info out there as quickly and easily as possible
>>330184 If we do that, we MUST have a unified way of spreading the videos. We don't want to see people uploading the same video 20 times to the same place, nor must we do want to see 1 or 2 video channels popping up every other week.
>>330179 i can help with video editing and rendering
(302.27 KB 1604x1088 1437461893144.png)

>>330183 The key thing here is short and to the point Even your ADD suffering unmedicated little sister should be able to watch one of them through It should essentially be one of our infographs in video form How about pic related for a topic One very badly made study made the rounds in progressive media because it jerked off their egos and supported their point of view. Media circle-jerking and failure to do even the most basic fact-checking at its finest >>330185 We'll make them on this board and when they're done everyone here puts them out on twatter, tumblr, 4/v/ or wherever they like. The important thing is that we get them out there. Doesn't matter if there are 20 different YT channels posting the same video since they'll all presumably be relatively small and probably not overlap
>>330179 >Need royalty-free Music If ya need some royalty-free tracks, I know of Free Music Archive. You can check them out and see if they have anything you'd like. http://freemusicarchive.org/ Of course if you have MONAAAAAAY you can try these. http://extrememusic.com (I've seen people use Extreme Music tracks, and not get taken down or Content ID'd, helps that low-budget TV producers use 'em first). http://audionetwork.com (A lot of producers use Audio Network and never received any DMCA strikes) http://neosounds.com (says they offer royalty-free tracks).
>>330187 That would work. >Do we have a link to the original study? >Do we know how badly it was made? >Are the ego-stroking articles still online?
>>330190 Pastebin from the pic http://pastebin.com/yeed917E Articles all there and archived The gamasutra one goes through it in more detail https://archive.is/ylODg >They started with 163 matches out of the 245. From those 163 matches, only 102 had any verbal communication and all of the other players’ voices were men, no women were heard during data collection. From these 102 matches, they identified 189 unique players. Of these 189 players, 147 were in the same team as the researcher-player and 42 were on the opposite side. As the numbers are few for the opposite side, the authors decide to examine the teammates’ reactions as they interacted with the male and female voice much longer than the opponents do and the latter interacted with them mostly in the post-game lobby and for less than 3 minutes. This is of course not in any way a representative sample of even a single game let alone of all gamers on all platforms It's getting late over here but it'd be great ya'll can go through and pick out the most glaring issues then we'll compile it into a script
Do we have any volunteers for reading the script? Charisma is a plus but articulation is key. Native english speakers will have a head-start but right now we just need anyone able to read the script loud and clear Since we don't have a script right now how about you just make do with this random transcript from Clinton News Network http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1702/15/cnnt.01.html Read it as clearly as possible and upload the recording to vocaroo or any site you can upload recordings to and post it here
>>330190 Let's not, the story is them using a two year old study, taking bits and pieces from the study, making a paper about it, and waiting for the money to role in. In fact there was a study that came out earlier that disproved this very… Hang on a minute…give me some time to write this up.
>>330196 Still waiting. What do you have?
Here it is! I completed a rough draft script for the video. After reading through it, the script itself lasts for just under 3 minutes.
(301.73 KB 1915x998 ss (2017-02-21 at 03.50.05).png)

Volunteering my abilities for video assembly and editing. Might as well start making productive things with my newfound hobby. >>330200 Pretty decent script Mr dubs.
>>330200 (Check'd) Pretty good, the references should go in the video comments, though. Now we need some music and some art.
>>330202 I'll see if I can provide art. Just list out what you want drawn.
>>330208 Vivian in a lab coat with a paper on her hands saying "This is bullshit". That should be enough for two minutes of video, I think. And we still need a name for the OP and for the channel. OP Follywood was suggested on the /v/ thread.
>>330184 Remember, Twitter has a limit on length. And they're worse than Youtube when it comes to making content a safe-space- or even shadow banning. Then again, if they put all the deploreables in a box, we just galvanize each other even more?
>>330212 Well, we can't be spreading stuff if there is nothing to spread. We have the script, now we need the video and the channel. Since nobody has offered to read the script, we should use subtitles with images and music and call it a day, and jump to the next topic.
>>330214 >Since nobody has offered to read the script, we should use subtitles with images and music and call it a day, and jump to the next topic. If it needs a voice so bad just use a text to speech program or something, imo using a real human bean voice is too much of a hassle for what this is. >use subtitles with images and music and call it a day, and jump to the next topic. Just go for it, gambatte and so forth.
Hey, guys, could we see about getting a list of topics to make videos on? The reason I ask is so that we can keep a continuous flow of content in production rather than waiting on everyone else to finish the video and then begin making the new one.
The script is too damn wordy, doesn't flow well, has grammar and spelling errors and contains lots of technical speak that just confuses normalfags. Also, I don't understand the relevance of the opening quote. It also needs to be more succinct. Drive home the fact that the media dishonestly used flawed research to create a narrative.
>>330219 Then, I'll see about cleaning it up tomorrow. It's a bit late for me to do it at the moment.

>>330217 Sure thing, everyone dig into your GG folder and find something we could push out there CON would make an interesting topic considering they're an official Twitter trusted safety resource and I'll see what else I can dig up Another option would be to go to Deepfreeze and see if we can find something We should focus more on recent events though instead of digging up stuff from 2015. Alternatively, take some of the older stuff and show why it's relevant today
Here is the revised script. Shaved off about a minute, and reworded a couple of things. Also, decided to call ourselves "Operation: Collaborative Downfall" (OP:CD) because "Operation: Follywood" just sounded too lame and tacky. If you guys object, I'm willing to hear suggestions.
What about a continuation of GG in 60 seconds but for years 2 and 3, filled with humor, being the boogeyman, quieter times regulated to traps are gay debates etc,and the fall of anti-gg pedos and rapists and being a reliable FTC resource. At the end, stress the importance of rebuilding the new sites, maybe mention their growth, and the people still in influence that need only slander once more to get their ads targeted. Humor is really important as well as being brief and concise.
>>330225 I appreciate the help m8. The script centers around that 2015 Miami study, but it doesn't clearly refute it. Instead, the main argument against it seems to be "but this more comprehensive German study says gamers aren't shit". Cherry picking evidence is a weak argument, and also an appeal to authority. I also question whether digging up shit from 2015 is productive. I'd prefer a more recent topic, or one that is universal - localisation/culturalization is a good fit, and ties in with the recent ESA digging as well. I also volunteer for voicing duties, but I'd like to see if we can come up with a better script.
>>330229 I was wondering same too, but I thought about considering that the first one would be more of a test video so that we know what we're dealing with and where we're going. As far as recent events, aside from the ESA, there is also "The National D.va Association" in Korea, which Blizzard appears to support: >>>/v/12003350 >>>/v/12003353 And, how some Western parties did start to talk about it: https://archive.fo/gZegd
>>>/v/12003662 >>>/v/12003665 >>>/v/12003721 Unfortunately, I've yet to find any Western sources talking about what is going on in Korea outside of imageboard users.

I revised the script. Interested in any feedback.
>>330232 Sounds good, but you come across as too aggressive in wanting to prove how biased the media is. We have to provide enough that the viewer can come to their own conclusions, and we cannot have it sounding like we're preaching to them. Also, we need to find a way to rephrase this: >Now here’s the thing: it was bullshit! Let's leave swearing out of it because that's the point normal folk begin to tune out.
(14.20 KB 426x92 ClipboardImage.png)

Uh oh.
>>330239 I remember when reddit, twitter and 8ch were united in wanting to BTFO of these precious snowflakes.
>>330217 >>330222 Agreed on most points brought up. Might be worth repeating, but this is just a possible topic list so far. -CON leaks -DeepFreeze, looks to be getting some exposure and traction, this is good. Get it more well known. -preorder, day1 dlc, seasons pass that doesn't seem to make sense for the genre or game, basically questionable industry trends and practices that would be good for customers to consider before opening their wallet. Semi political stuff but I'd argue still qualifies due to media bullshit. -WSJ doing a smearjob on Pewd. -MSM doing a smearjob on Milo.
>>330246 Forgot to add. -FBI clearing GG.
Chucking this one out ripe for the edit. Basic gist, it's a scene from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex recap episode. Buncha /pol/fags sitting around in a 3D representation of a chat room talking about terrorism or some shit. Enter Major Vivian Kusunagi who sits down and joins in on the conversation as they go over the evidence of the event so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poKi7YyuamI
>>330232 Just finished making some changes to the script. I'll clean it up tomorrow and post it there.
Alright, here's the revised script
This anon: >>>/v/12021174 ...suggested "Rapid Fire". Let's use that. Is everyone else alright with calling ourselves "Operation Rapid Fire"?
Despite my earlier advice, here's how not to do it IMO. He interrupts what's going on to snark and agree/disagree without expanding upon it (sort of like the Daily Show, but without twisting it to push an agenda, or relying on a specific timing to make it harder to form your own thoughts. More on that in the next post). He brings nothing to the table. His other work is fine- he either retorts (with evidence) or just lets the footage play out. IMO, films should come in one of several formats: - Clip: A clip taken that proves someone of wrong-doing or ill-character. No introduction, no VA over the top. Just the context and a link in the description to the source. - Clip + Retort/Meme: Same as above, only it finishes with presenting evidence that proves a person's statement wrong/right. Or, even just a joke mocking something in the clip. Never put something before the clip- even as a set up to a joke. Evidence in context is priority 1, and should be the first thing the viewer sees while they have full attention. - Theory & Evidence Declaration (TED): Using appropriate footage, a VA or subtitles present the case for a fact. Evidence is sourced both in the video, and in the description.
(289.74 KB 1848x817 _Daily Show Memetic Formula.jpg)

>>330273 Here's what I meant about the Daily Show. This applies to other liberal media as well. They try to be funny, and use that to create a bombardment of information to prevent their target audience (morons) from thinking and forming their own opinion. Plus, they laugh (at low-tier "isn't X like Y" jokes) so it makes them feel good. A pavolvian reaction to supporting X ideals and rejecting others. Ergo, we don't want to do the same. Resist the urge to snark- make meme videos their own thing and never the main content of the "channels". Inform, and give pause to let the audience form their own opinion based on what they just saw/heard.
>>330258 nice la. one possible edit > outside of alleged Right leaning news sites such as Forbes and Breitbart Snowflakes will trigger when they hit this sentence. They'll have an emotional response that will short-circuit the rational response "oh, you're one of those" and close the tab. There's no need pimp alternative news sources, they'll find these when they're ready to find them. I'd consider cutting that line, but I'm not sure what to replace it with. Maybae a comment that negative news "11 men were mean online" seems to be distributed wider than positive news "we can all successfully play together". Side note: http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/usappblog/2016/11/26/how-trumps-campaign-used-the-new-data-industrial-complex-to-win-the-election/ https://motherboard.archive.pls/en_us/article/how-our-likes-helped-trump-win Does anyone have any insight on how to extend OCEAN to suit our purposes? How to create different messages for different key personalities types, emphasizing different topics. (this is likely worth it's own thread rather then derailing your topic)
>>330260 Rapid Fire is gud imo, don't get too bogged down too much on the name since the important thing is making the vid and making it good and getting it out. But Rapid Fire sounds good imo.
>>330247 The Evil Axis of the 8/v/ Illuminati, Russian hackers, the frog-posting Alt-Right, and God Emperor Trump got the GamerGate FBI investigation quashed in the face of all that evidence of harassment.
>>330276 I just changed that part of the sentence to: >Unfortunately, outside of the lesser known sites at the time that report on games and/or technology,… Does that sound better?
>>330283 I don't see anything wrong with it.
>>330322 Okay, how is the rest of production coming along? Also, I was think of writing something up on the "gamification" concept the ESA and "developers" keep pushing. How does that sound?
>>330325 >Okay, how is the rest of production coming along? Eh? >Also, I was think of writing something up on the "gamification" concept the ESA and "developers" keep pushing. How does that sound? Sounds good, I don't believe many are aware of what it is.
>>330326 >>Okay, how is the rest of production coming along? >Eh? I thought there were other people working on this project. There was a guy who said he could work on the video editing. Another person doing the art. Though, we haven't found anyone to throw in their voice yet.
>>330327 Ah. I came up with the Rapid Fire name.
(164.59 KB 640x360 Gamification (Version 1).pdf)

Just finished the rough draft of the "Gamification" script. It runs on a bit long (It's a little over 4 pages), so we'll need to see about cutting the unneeded parts. Also, someone neededs to review some of the references and try to find better sources than the blog posts and AMA sites I used. Other than that, how does it look?
>>330331 Not bad, needs some buffing out on the writing, but your mesage is clear.
>>330331 Okay, never mind, cancelling this. >>>/v/12130500 >I don't see any reason to make a video about gamification, and honestly I don't think you have any particular understanding of it. What you produced is basically sub-Extra Credits style stuff where it seems really shallow and misleading to people more familiar with the subject. The inexplicable preoccupation with gamification by some pro-GG people has never really made sense. >>>/v/12130621 >Actually, yes, I do have to agree with you on not knowing why GG people are so motivated to take down Gamification. Actually looking up articles on it, numerous people are already coming out and saying… >It doesn't work! >So, then, what is it that we're fighting when it comes to gamification? Is it edutainment? If that is the case, why write an episode on it when supporting games that do it right (Or even making your own) would do just as well to fix it? >>>/v/12130694 >>>12130621 >It works in a few limited areas, but yeah it obviously didn't live up to all the hype from when it was a fad. >>>12130641 >That's not gamification, you can't gamify games. Gamification is introducing game elements to non-games, like cheevos and points. The closest thing to gamification of games is manipulative phone games and social media games that try to gamify external acts like "shill this shit to all your friends for an in-game reward". >The SJW Mario fangame that's a parody of (and similar games) are propaganda and the author and their supporters signaling about their politics. It's no different than shitty propaganda movies or books that are typically low-quality but get boosted up, like Crash winning an Oscar. It isn't about gameplay elements, and indeed many of them are barely games.
