I'll post my comments here and there.
> It has been discovered that Japanese games are going to be under attack by people who are ridiculously easily offended and hold a cult-like "progressive" mentality
What's a progressive? How do you explain that to a Japanese person?
IMO: change it to "puritan"- since they'll go for the sex appeal first.
> These people are a miniscule minority that have forced themselves into key positions of power in the west. Namely in Public Relations and as translators or "localizers" which work at Treehouse and 8-4.
Explain. In short; tell them how Western MSM has hated games since the 90s, and now even some games based websites are trying to change games like they did. Then say how they got into PR, Human Resources (if Japan has such a thing) and translators in Japanese gaming companies.
> In the last number of years incompetent "localizers" have been doing their inferior work by doing a number of things;
What's a localizer? IMO, you're better saying translators also decided what was appropriate for audiences- becoming "localizers".
Fuck I don't know if localizer even translates. Sure as hell doesn't work on spellcheck.
> Asserting their ideology into Japanese games when they are translated by removing functions found in the original Japanese release such as removing head patting and breast size adjustment
Cut your sentence length down- and not just here either.
Further, I'd say simplify it. They want to cut any sexual content- even boob sliders, hip-bones, and head patting.
> These localizers have also replace key dialogue with unfunny and dated jokes (or memes).
What is Japanese for meme? If we have a good translator, we should learn this.
> What the management were not told was that the gamers were upset because the dialogue and characters were unnecessarily butchered by the localizers
"Butchering" as slang for ruining something might not translate into Japanese. Try to keep slang out of it. Universal descriptives (ruined, corrupted, desaturated, etc) should be fine.
> Because of this misinformation, Nintendo has decided to make the games more similar in content, not by replacing these ideological localizers but by using the localizers to coerce or dictate to the creators what should and what should not be in the game.
This is probably the point you want to compare it to Star Ocean 5. They had the original Jap release altered, and it tanked
not sure if the two are actually correlated.
Also, work out what Star Ocean 5 is called in Japan. Just in case it has a different title.
> The censorship created by the localizers will only appear minor at first but it will erode the game creator's vision for the game the same way that water and mud erodes a channel out of rock.
Now you explain how Western Gaming was assaulted over 10 years- and the same could happen to Japan, Maybe compare it to UN and Olympic changes that are slow and gradual attacks on their culture & way of life.
> The end result is a game that has fewer game options, sterile dialogue and limited characters.
This doesn't read right to me. You want to say somehow that it means you have more child-friendly games, and their politics & beliefs forced upon them.
> Brothers and sisters in our love of good games,
> Western Gamers.
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
They think it's Western Gamers fault. "Oh we didn't stop these assholes on our side. Take care of them for us will ya?"
I'd even argue don't sign it off with any name.
Overall- good work. Make sentences a bit simpler, throw in more examples of censorship if when we find them, and it should be good.
One major piece of criticism is talking to Nintendo Management in an open letter- like they're gonna fucking read it.
The rest of the letter is written for the Jap gamers, so why even bother pretending we're on Ninty's side in this.
Make this letter for the otaku and let NoJ get their wrath to get them in line.
