Cartoon Intros Anonymous 09/05/2020 (Sat) 03:47:36 No. 4808
What are some of your favorite cartoon intros?
>>4808 I will never stop loving this show
>>4808 >Sonia's arms/belly aren't flesh colored FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY, SEGA.
>>4907 >The Batman - Season 1 Oh shit, I remember watching that! Joker's introductory episode, Mr. Freeze killing a dude by exploding the ice with a superheated icepick, MOTHERFUCKING CLAYFACE oh my god that two-parter was so fucked up. The follow-up did have one of the best jokes from Joker, though, "Good NightGuard". It was a good show. Hey, does any of you have the intro of a show featuring Basketball playing Kangaroos? Really low-budget childrens show, tons of repeated scenes (especially the matches themselves).
>>4908 DON'T CALL ANYONE!
I almost posted the Boondocks on accident.
>>5273 >Hey, does any of you have the intro of a show featuring Basketball playing Kangaroos? a little google and... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U53OZVFNsio
I specifically wanted to exclude: A. Just clips from the show with a song put over them. No matter how good the song may be. B. Intros outsourced to Japan. Which is hard because this excludes all the coolest ones. But nevertheless. But with that in mind here's a short list: The Real Adventures of Jonny Questhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBHVN-h4ZLw Now I know what you're thinking: "you just said no clips with songs you faggot". True, true. But this is a good example of how a modicum of effort and creativity can actually produce something unique from otherwise unremarkable. They could have easily just dropped those clips into an editor, slapped the song on top, and be done with it. But they decided to give a fuck and now it's an iconic intro. Conan the Adventurerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT3cl4GJIDs Top tier intro for a top tier series. Not only does it hype you to watch the show with great visuals and a banger tune, it actually tells you the premise and the backstory, flawless interwoven into the song itself instead of just being awkwardly narrated over like in almost all other cases. By the time you start watching the first episode you feel like you've already watched one. Batman Beyondhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMXjtvMAFlI Ow the edge: the intro. But it does have a very unique look and sound to it that you can hardly find in many other cartoons. Skeleton Warriorshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3ZlpTp_dJA Everyone involved with this production would have been put to trial for crimes against humanity if they somehow managed to make an intro to a show called "Skeleton Warriors" unhype. Thankfully that is not the case. It's a rather simple intro but it sure as fuck hypes you to check the show out, augmented by an incredible song. X-menhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAkL2-vh2Sk Obligatory X-Men intro. Though barely anything is happening here except for basically animated character profile pages, this is a case where style compensates for the lack of any directorial creativity. No way you watch this intro and think it was boring. Venture Bros.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuMKDDhMPJA Undeniably cool and bebop-y, fitting the style of the show perfectly. Anything else would have ruined the entire appeal. Men in Blackhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVAePIyC4kQ Very simple but stylish and effective intro, sometimes all you need is a bit of cheekiness.
>>4808 Spiderman pre 2010 Pick a opening any opening they're all great
(6.20 MB 540x360 Gargoyles OP and ED.webm)

I like the overall look of the second Gargoyles opening better, but the music is worse and they cut out the narration, so it's shit.
>>5483 >overall look It's just clips from the show
>>5475 since you brought up the Xmen intro, I'd like to counter with the Japanese intros for the show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rSw4Xl5qfs
>>5517 counter what?
>>5513 Yeah, but the second one has nicer editing.
>>5525 not so much counter, I guess, as provide a look at what Japan pulled off for the intros, giving the Xmen a mission as they show off their powers
>>5545 Ah, I get it now. Yeah, that intro is all around excellent but because of point B I had, I didn't include it myself. That said, now I probably should make a list with intros outsourced to Japan. It's a much easier list to make as that constitutes like 70% of all 80s and 90s cartoons.
>>5475 As is only fair, here is now a list of intros made in Japan. Let's start with the Rankin/Bass trilogy: Thundercatshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_-WHxwaD5Y Silverhawkshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqsgLxuMhLE Tigersharkshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opi3eX6rwEI Between all three it's like you watched an entire OVA. Stellar animation, stellar soundtrack, stellar direction. Legendary status. It is of course a real contest only between Thundercats and Silverhawks, and I don't know which I honestly like better, but Tigersharks shouldn't be left by the roadside either – it has the cutest girl. Galaxy Rangershttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBJGMI2ZWWI Probably has the most gorgeous animation ever outsourced for a cartoon intro. Absolutely jaw-dropping. The song is a real banger as well. It's a bit simple but so beautiful that who even cares. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (OG)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QNaoJcg5lk Honestly, bit by bit, this is probably the coolest intro ever made to this day. Yes, there are ones with mind blowing animation like Galaxy Rangers, and the animation here is pretty fucking top tier as well, but just everything about this intro in amazing. It's so good I believe it single handedly sold us on such silly concept as ninja turtles. Megamanhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ufVQIUEiYc Another all around great intro. I really like that synth/techno/whatever sound they went for. Really unique and iconic, not many shows can just repeat one line for a solid minute and pull it off. Heathcliffhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LLb8EBU9nQ Just a really comfy and happy intro. Watch it and it will make your day. Batmanhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ5yNhDOjxU Obligatory Batman intro. Requires no introduction. The Real Ghostbustershttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7VS-ZoeMqs Another iconic happy-go-lucky intro. What's not to love. Dat Janine.
>>5483 Which one is intro 2? The Goliath chronicles or whatever?
>>5602 Yeah, the one they used for Season 3. Too bad Season 3 is dogshit.
>Men In Black mentioned in first 10 posts Automatically good thread

B&M and Foster's Home Regular Show
(3.10 MB 480x360 Chalk Zone Opening.mp4)

Not sure why they felt the need to put electric guitar into the themesong of a show about chalk, but I'm not complaining
(6.70 KB 262x64 he do, huh.png)

>>5630 >Bill Burnett's original idea for the concepts' score was something in akin to simplistic children's toy instrument melodies to fit the show's children's "chalk-drawing" theme, but the Nickelodeon crew suggested a more techno rock-based score to give the show a huge contrast from the premise. Huh. Also thanks for that, someone sampled it in a song and I never knew where it was from.

This thread restored some faith in humanity. Thanks for reminding us how good cartoons were before everything turned into Cal-Arts bean mouths.
>>5630 >>5634 >simplistic children's toy instrument melodies >Nickelodeon crew suggested a more techno rock-based score Wow, Nick execs did something right for once. Chalkzone is still one of my favorite cartoon openings. I remember it more than the show itself.
Surprised Animaniacs and Tiny Toons weren't posted yet. >Captain Planet I don't remember much from Captain Planet besides its ending. (I always thought it was the opening theme, so I'm posting it anyway.) >Samurai Pizza Cats Anime dubs in the 90s and early 2000s were treated like other Saturday morning cartoons, so I think it fits here.
>>8566 a Pizza Cat is fine too fun fact: the guy singing lead in the intro was drunk at the time, which is why some of his timing is off
(4.93 MB 480x360 Swat Kats s1 intro.mp4)

>no mention of this Seriously?
(1.10 MB 335x5000 dea.jpg)

>>8739 Most just remember it for the porn.
>>8739 meh
>>8739 Whatever happened to that Swat Katz reboot? I heard there was a Kickstarter then nothing.
>>8741 Man, Callie was like babbie's first furry crush if you were a kid in the 90's. But if you were a kid fag in the 90's, everyone always went after proud fluffball bara Chance. Why was there never any love for my vulnerable twinky fuckboi Jake? >>8803 It's been DOA since 2018 unfortunately.
The amount of style and funk was completely unnecessary for a movie tie-in show.
>>18570 Such a good intro. MiB, Extreme Ghostbusters, and the Godzilla cartoon had such cool designs for Aliens/Ghosts/Monsters. Like one guy was responsible for all three shows art direction, and then disappeared.
>>5793 Who is the blue girl? I don't remember blue skins in the game.

>>20003 Somebody just dumped almost every 2000s leaf slop cartoon onto Youtube and didn't suffer any copyright strikes, that's how much YTV gives a shit about.
>>41589 Does that include Yvon of the Yukon? Most episodes of that have been lost media for years.
