>>85394 >Jerry Siegel >Jerry Siegel was born on October 17, 1914, in Cleveland, Ohio, to a Jewish family.[5][6] His parents were both Jewish immigrants who arrived in New York in 1900, having fled anti-Semitism in their native Lithuania.[7] His father was born Mikhel Iankel Segalovich and his mother was born Sora Meita Khaikels, but they changed their names to Michael and Sarah Siegel after moving to America. >Joe Shuster >Joseph Shuster was born in Toronto to a Jewish family.[5][6][7] His father, Julius Shuster (originally Shusterowich), an immigrant from Rotterdam, had a tailor shop in Toronto's garment district. His mother, Ida (Katharske), had come from Kyiv in Ukraine.[8][9] The key word in both biographies is Immigrant. Superman himself is an alien immigrant who wasn't born in America. So yes, Superman is a wish fulfillment power fantasy created by two jews from immigrant families. Speaking of jewish superheroes, Batman's creator Bob Kane is also jewish. >Bob Kane >Robert Kahn was born in New York City, New York.[1] His parents, Augusta and Herman Kahn, an engraver,[2] were of Ashkenazi Jewish descent.[3][4] It makes you wonder how many more DC/Marvel superheroes were made by jews.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Confirms Red Ribbon Army Will Appear >Red Ribbon Army has long been one of the biggest villainous organizations of the Dragon Ball series, first appearing in the early days of the Shonen franchise as a threat to the young Goku and eventually creating the villainous Androids and the biological nightmare known as Cell. With this year's New York Comic Con featuring a panel exploring the next film in the franchise, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the creative minds behind the series confirmed that the Red Ribbon Army will have a role to play in the movie that is landing next year. >Dr. Gero was one of the biggest villains of the Red Ribbon Army, who used his brilliant mind to transform himself into an android that threatened the Z Fighters during the Android Saga of Dragon Ball Z. >Though Gero was killed by his own creations, it seems that the Red Ribbon Army has somehow managed to live on and is apparently threatening the world once again. With some new villains sporting the logo of the Red Ribbon Army, it's clear that the organization still has some nefarious ideas in mind for the Z Fighters and the world at large. >On top of sharing new secrets about the villains of the upcoming film, the creative minds behind the endeavor also revealed that the likes of Dende, Bulma, and Korin will have roles to play. >While fans of Dragon Ball Super also knew that Pan, the daughter of Gohan, would have a role to play, it seems as though the young warrior is training under Piccolo to follow in her father's footsteps and might be a part of the upcoming battles that take place in Super Hero. >Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero isn't just written by Akira Toriyama, but will be taking a big swing when it comes to its animation, using a new style that seemingly combines two-dimensional animation with a three-dimensional style. While the first clip gave us a new look into how the high-flying battles will look, it will be interesting to see how Super Hero plays out its story with this new animation. >What do you think of the Red Ribbon Army's return in this film set to land next year? Do you think we'll see the return of any other Dragon Ball characters in this upcoming movie? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly on Twitter @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and the world of Dragon Ball. https://archive.ph/fe4qp DC has to make Superman son a faggot to stay relevant while there is natural fan hype over the possible return of cell among dragon ball z fans. chad Goku > virgin Superman >Basically a Jewish empowerment fantasy >Surpassed by Goko popularity world wide in less than 40 years >Only old boomers and contrarians like you >Vastly overshadowed by Batman >Overshadowed by captain America as a natural symbol >Literally cucked by Lois ever since the Silver Age >Only good stories are either your origin or your death >Haven’t had a good live action adaptation since Reeves >New movie version will be blackwashed >doesn’t have a single good game let alone classic one to your name >Get your status as the most selfless hero stolen by Spider-Man >Get your status as the strongest hero stolen by Goku >Millions of “evil” versions of yourself come out and they’re all more popular than you >Your son comes out as a fag >Goku bloodline will continue while Superman bloodline will end with his faggot son

Metroid Dread' is a thrilling twist on a classic, but it made me miserable <not that Metroid Dread is a bad video game. I just never want to touch it again. If masochistically punishing games aren't your thing, I'd strongly recommend avoiding it. >In every way, the latest side-scrolling adventure for intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran is faithful to the spirit of its predecessors. In fact, this new story is a straight-up continuation of the narrative that the original game kicked off. >Dread, like the Metroids that came before it, sets our armored heroine loose in a sprawling complex of corridors, ducts, and chambers, with most of those locations sealed off behind obstacles that can only be circumvented using one tool or another. >All of those tools are, of course, locked behind fearsome boss fights and other threats. Most of the baddies can be defeated with Samus's trusty arm cannon and missiles, same as always. >However, clearing the hazardous locales of planet ZDR, where Dread is set, is no easy task. Like every other side-scrolling Metroid game, this is a game of pattern memorization and recognition. >Enemies move and attack in predictable ways and they always appear in the same locations when you re-enter a room. Bosses work the same way, though they draw from a wider pool of attacks that are tougher to read and hit harder than your average alien murderbug. But whether it's an enemy-filled chamber you need to clear or a whole, entire boss, the expectation is the same: Throw Samus at the threat again and again to learn the patterns, master the timing, and persevere. >That's been the approach for Metroid games — and Metroid-like games, such as the widely beloved Hollow Knight — since the world first met Samus in 1986. The tricky part for the creators of these games is finding the line between satisfying challenge and punishing slog. >Of course, what qualifies as "challenging" is deeply subjective and influenced by everything from the underlying creative vision to the tastes of the would-be audience. But games always have the capacity to make compromises. Difficulty settings can make a tough game more approachable. Accessibility settings can make complex controls less of a burden for players who need (or even just want) an easier time. >Games don't have to be grueling to be great. For a beloved elder franchise that has fans spanning multiple age groups, a high barrier to entry is a crushing disappointment. >That's where and why Metroid Dread is a resounding failure for me. You can't change the difficulty or make the experience more accessible. There are no compromises that might ease the pain of a particularly challenging encounter. >If you get stuck on a boss for two hours, well, hopefully, you'll get a handle on it before the third hour passes. Or the fourth, or later. Because that's your only option! >Comparing hard games to Dark Souls may be a tired meme at this point, but this is a case where the spirit of that meme actually applies. It's not that From Software's hit series is hard so much as it is uncompromising; you have to meet the Souls games and those like it on their terms. That's the case as well for developer MercurySteam's work on Metroid Dread: This is a hard game, yes, but it's a static challenge. >You're either going to get it, or you won't. The uncompromising approach extends beyond the moment-to-moment gameplay, too. Metroid Dread is incredibly vague about what you're supposed to do at any given moment. >That's been a series trope for a long time with the side-scrolling Metroid games. But just because something is an established tradition that doesn't mean it's the right idea. >I spent inordinate amounts of my time in Dread scanning around the massive and intricately detailed map screen, with its dozens of icons for phase beam doors, missile doors, morph ball launchers, speed boost blocks, and other interaction points that work with some specific tool or another. >The trick to finding the way forward is to look at the last few tools you picked up and then scan the map for previously visited areas where there may be a door or path you couldn't open before, but now can. >Dread lets you highlight doors and blocks by "type" on the map, which makes it easier to find areas you haven't broken into yet. But that isn't terribly clear in-game until you start experimenting with the controls listed on the map screen. >The map is also just extremely large and dense, with tiny, difficult-to-see details, even when you're zoomed in. (This right here is an extremely basic accessibility issue that could be solved with the addition of some basic display settings. There are none in Metroid Dread.) >Unfortunately, those tiny details are often where the path forward is found. Also, you're not choosing the doors or blocks you want to tag from a list; to use the "highlight" feature, you actually have to find one of whatever it is you want to tag on the map and then select it. >So if you're already having a hard time locating a particular block or door, you're stuck. The feature isn't terribly helpful in those situations, and it doesn't remotely solve all of the pathfinding problems. >It did help me, though, especially after a friend and fellow critic suggested leaning on that tool specifically whenever I felt lost. I just don't understand why the game itself doesn't make the presence and use of the highlight feature more explicit during the early tutorial hours. It's a rare bit of help in a game that would seemingly rather just not offer any. Games don't have to be grueling to be great. >The rigid design here is heartbreaking for me, not just as a longtime fan of Metroid but also as a lover of video games who sees all the wonderful new ideas MercurySteam injected into Dread. The biggest and coolest addition is a direct reflection of the subtitle. This Metroid's "Dread" is realized by seven hunting robots called EMMIs. >These spindly terrors each behave a little differently from one another and occupy their own, specific "EMMI zone" areas of the map. You can't defeat them using conventional weapons, and being caught by one is almost always an immediate trip to the "Game Over" screen. >So, most of the time evasion is your best bet for dealing with them. But that's difficult because every EMMI has a keen robot ear that picks up on Samus's movements when she's in their rather large detection range. They don't go into alert mode and seal off exits until they actually spot Samus, but the moment they hear her they'll rush in to investigate. >Like so much else in a Metroid game, each EMMI is a puzzle to be solved. You're taught early on that there is a way to defeat them, but it's a different process for each one that always includes a miniboss fight and a (frequently tricky!) final tussle with the EMMI itself. Defeat one and you'll get a new tool for Samus, but even better: That particular EMMI zone gets permanently cleared, freeing you up to explore and hunt for secrets or new paths without the fear of an insta-fail haunting your every move. The addition of EMMIs really shakes up the typical flow of a Metroid game. >It's still the same basic process of following roughly linear paths from one objective to the next, until you find a new tool that opens up more opportunities for free exploration and, eventually, a new basically-linear route to your next objective. But more often than not, you'll find one or more EMMI zones that need to be passed through, and possibly dealt with, before you can reach Samus's next objective. It's cool, new ideas like this that really make Metroid Dread a heartbreaker for me. https://archive.ph/VDVSi

>>85474 >would be the first one to do so The amount of disgust and contempt he was showing for people like that says otherwise, I think he was just cynically trying to look "tough" like his past troll persona did. Do you remember his video of pure butthurt at /pol/ where he tried to look tough to them too? Doesn't give him free license to be a hypocrite. That said, Sargon is probably a faggot (I wouldn't know as I haven't paid attention to him in literally 6 years), and people related to Sargon tended to be cancer. I don't hold that much disdain for him, but it is kinda pathetic. >Everything he said about original 8chan came to pass though Hm? How's that? Its been a while, I only vaguely remember a video from him talking about how sketchy Jim was, and that was fair. Problem was that Jim being sketchy on his own wasn't enough to bring about an exodus outside of what his secret coup to certain BOs (like /sp/'s, iirc) was. >>85476 I don't know what people were expecting Jim was a troll before GG, during GG he became a "virtuous" shitposter and then went back to being a troll, but with delusions of grandeur on top of being a self-righteous hypocrite afterwards. He compared IBS's value to Jerry Springer, and felt proud about that purely because it was getting views and attention. There was no hope for him after that point. >>85477 How's that? (58.74 KB 1280x720 saitama about to say ok.jpg)

>>85420 >>85477 I liked OPM but it should have stopped after the first season. Saitama showed humility, got recognized as a hero by someone who genuinely looked up to him, you got a little more focus on the stronger heroes, the final episode was a really impressive fight sequence and the world was saved (for now) etc. It was a really good place to leave it. Anything after that just sullies a good story. I never watched the second season.
>>85482 second season was kinda shitty (and the animation was worse) but it had some funny moments to keep it chugging, mainly the ones involving King iirc especially in the OVAs Problem was that idfk what Garou was doing the whole time, what an arbitrary character they devoted so much time to, and he wasn't that funny was the problem. There was a tournament in that arc that I kinda liked because I'm into the whole >oh fuck this world is brutal but let's have an organization that tries to gauge the power of everything in it >and they fail horribly and there's horrors beyond expectation and even their strongest abilities so I found a new reason to enjoy OPM in the second season over pure comedy, but that's more of a personal thing for me specifically. Boros was a great way to end the first season, it was an enjoyable time all around.

Euro Comics have been in decline despite still be miles head of North American comics because not many work on them still or have such long gaps in release dates that most fuck off to Manga or other East Asian comics as there is shit to read period. What about the fact that none of those series ever cross the ocean, unless it's the form of adaptations, or suffer shitty censorship? Official English release of series like Cybersix, XIII, and Largo Winch exist, but you have to import them from England. That's also beside how The Incal was heavily altered in it's American release. And, then there's Tintin, Asterix, and The Smurfs, where people only know about those series because of the cartoons and films.
>>85531 >I have very mixed feelings on this due to the rising influence of western shit on the Japanese market along with the decrease in ethics of the nipponese businessmen like every other country's cancerous businessmen The (((west))) is absolutely going to try, and keep trying, to pull the "You made this? The only real win condition is the west collapsing before they infect Japans culture too much.
>>85534 >The (((west))) is absolutely going to try, and keep trying, to pull the "You made this? I made this." meme on otaku culture. But, that is true as modern manga art has been influence by Tezuka's desire to bone the animated creatures in Disney movies.

Superman and The X-Men are the only major exceptions that are popular enough for casuals to know about, and if you start looking at the ones casuals dont know about, you get way wackier origins. Sure, Spider-Man was bitten by a radioactive Spider, but the Whizzer was bitten by a snake so his dad gave him an injection of mongoose blood as a cure and it did cure him and also gave him super speed. The Red Bee was a regular guy until he decided to train an attack bee and use it to fight crime. Madame Fatal's power is that he's secretly a man and just dresses as a woman because then he gets a pussy pass which lets him get into secret bases and get close enough to bad guys that he can punch them, with the power of a man. One Punch Man does have a funny origin but it's not like most characters are just born that way.

>>85596 >Gender and sex are synonymous with each other. They are not. Sex is the actual physical manifestation, gender is a language construct. Not a societal one as the commies would like people to believe, but rather a language construct. For example "der Stahl" is masculine, even though steel has no XY chromosomes or genetalia, it can't even reproduce sexually. In fact, it can't even reproduce in ANY fashion. The word "die Katze" is feminine and this does not change even if the actual cat is male, but if the word were to become "das Kätzchen" then it becomes neutral even though kittens have a sex before they are even born. But nonetheless, regardless of the sex, while they are kittens their gender is neither masculine nor feminine. But if you were to no longer refer to them diminuitively (even though by age they are still kittens) they become feminine, even if they are male. Solely through the power of language.

Far cry 6 and the impossibility of 'fun' politics in video games >Far Cry 6 to be (like nearly every other recent title in the franchise) dumb, mindless, well-polished AAA fun, with a vapid story that uses the aesthetics of real-world issues to overinflate its own sense of self-importance. >Yet to my utter shock, Far Cry 6 flipped nearly every one of those expectations on its head — at times to its benefit but more often to its detriment. >Yet unlike the franchise's recent predecessors, Far Cry 6's story at the very least has a pulse. >Hell, it even offers some nuanced takes on the lose-lose nature of revolutions, as guerilla warrior Dani (or Danny, depending on gender preference) grapples with the inherent ugliness, corruption, and impossibility of saving your country from the perceived comforts of authoritarianism. >But before diving into why it's still #complicated with Far Cry 6, let's recap how this franchise became such a battleground for the contentious, never-ending debate over politics in video games. >To grossly oversimplify: Over the years Ubisoft has placated the "keep politics out of games" camp of fans by insisting that its titles explicitly inspired by real-world political conflicts don't actually make any political statements. >The publisher has also simultaneously tried to appease critics of this mealy-mouthed excuse by claiming that while its games weren't "political" per se, they still weren't wholly "apolitical" either, even admitting in 2019 to a desire to do better next time. >sured fans that the game makes no political statements about Cuba (the country its fictional setting is inspired by) or the recent civilian uprisings that are heavily mirrored in the game's story. Then, just days later, narrative director Navid Khavari finally admitted that OK, yes, it is obviously a political game. >Politics isn't something that happens between governmental leaders alone. Politics play out among the people, through the everyday lives of folks trying to live under said ideologies. >A central queer relationship in the game highlights this well, when it's rocked by the unavoidable reality that the trans partner faces far greater risks if he stays in Yara. (Content warning note: That trans character does get misgendered by a villain at one point, though there is no deadnaming like in Last of Us 2.) >The Last of Us showed it on a blockbuster scale. But when it comes to the kind of smooth-brain, no thoughts, frictionless bigness of Ubisoft's approach to fun in games, I think we're gonna need more halfway successes like Far Cry 6 before we figure it out comfortably. https://archive.ph/IxHb7 It’s okay call of duty been recycled for years. Far cry 6 bad because it wasn’t political enough or right kind of political. Why Manga & Comics for Kids Outsell Superheroes >This might be a shocking revelation, but superhero comics do not stand on top of the comic book landscape -- at least, not in terms of sales. >Over the last couple of decades, drastic shifts in the way people read comics, as well as the groups of people producing comics, have shifted sales away from the few superhero titles that stand atop their competition. >Rather, a new market for comics aimed at juveniles has opened up. That, combined with the ever-increasing mainstream popularity of manga, has revolutionized what material fans want to read. >However, all this came to a head at New York Comic-Con, when a presentation revealed this pie-chart, depicting how much people buy comics aimed at kids or manga as opposed to superhero comics. > Likewise, many people overlook manga as a huge market. Or, at least, they dismiss it when talking about graphic novels. >There is an odd sense of snobbery some older fans employ when looking at manga. Sure, Naruto isn't the smartest story around, but it garnered a huge international audience for a reason: people like the characters, like the insane action, and want to see more of it. >Manga stories are often told over a collection of chapters, which are then collected into volumes. However, unlike comics, it's easy to figure out where to start and stop. >Only recently have trade paperbacks picked up in popularity. Even then, you'd need to figure out where to start. You'd have to look on the back cover, figure out what issues are being collected, and, even then, you'd need a working knowledge of at least some of what came before to understand what is happening. >With manga, the entire story is collected in inexpensive, large volumes. The average volume costs $10 as opposed to a cheap TPB averaging twice that amount for half the content. Each manga volume comes with a big number on the spine so you can easily figure out which volume you're reading and the order in which it takes place. >TPBs have only just recently started to employ this technique, and, even then, usually the "Number 1" volume is just the first few issues of a particular run. There is still decades of continuity leading into that issue. >Each manga series is its own, complete story. It isn't required you read other stories outside your selected genre to understand what's happening. >You don't need to know about Dragon Ball Z to understand what happens in Fruits Basket. However, to understand what happens in Iron Man, you might need to read a random issue of Deadpool. >Even if you don't like the genre or stories in one, you need to read it to understand what happens in your particular character's story. >For superhero fans, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it can be alienating for fans who might want to get into comics but don't have the time to learn decades of continuity. >However, this isn't to say superhero comics are failing -- nor does it indicate that they don't have a chance to reclaim their footing. >Obviously, superhero cinema is booming more than ever before, with multiple billion-dollar films being released over the last year. The characters are still widely beloved icons. However, comic publishers have been exploring how to advertise to that untapped audience of adolescents they have neglected. >For all of DC's mistakes with younger readers, however, the publisher seems to have figured out how to draw in the teenage fanbase once more. DC has released imprints of books aimed at younger readers and teens, each bringing in reputable talent from those fields to help with that effort. DC's multiple YA novels have (thus far) proven to be well-received. >The new DC Ink imprint has successfully reinvented superheroes for teens in new and exciting ways. On the other hand, DC's comics aimed for kids, such as DC Super Hero Girls, has successfully drawn in a young market of fans. https://archive.ph/ldBRH Superman taking in the ass will clearly win over manga readers.

The PC version had its fair share of issues as well, ranging from both graphics and user interface bugs, but all of which DICE is expected to polish before the intended release date. https://archive.ph/kWSHu Battlefield 2042 Specialists Were Inspired by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare >One of the bigger releases this season, DICE’s Battlefield 2042, is facing some apparent issues. This was somewhat apparent based on the recent open beta, which the developer claimed is from a months old build. >A report by insider Tom Henderson on GamingIntel saw two sources claiming this wasn’t quite the case but it also seems that there are larger development troubles inherent behind the scenes. >Both of the sources speaking to Henderson claimed that many issues are due to management which is composed of people who worked on Star Wars Battlefront 2. >Management is allegedly not committed enough to the project, with creative being simply told to do X, Y, and Z. One of these management figures was simply described as a ‘yes man’, and apparently things have ‘been s*&t since.” >Any issues that were brought throughout development to management apparently fell on dear ears, “Ultimately creating issues that DICE could have solved earlier in the development process,” as per Henderson. >It also seems that one key aspect of the game that has fans divided, the Specialists, stems from management loving aspects of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). The studio was encouraged to create something similar, which Henderson admits is unclear, but there was a clear goal to implement the Operators in some fashion. >While other design choices and how they take after Call of Duty are still unknown, Henderson does reveal that many content creators for Activision’s franchise were invited to the recent closed beta event. >A ton of Call of Duty creators (that have never uploaded a Battlefield title before) were invited to the closed beta capture event. A clear sign that management knows what role Call of Duty played in Battlefield 2042’s development. Unfortunately, this choice left hardcore Battlefield creators waiting in the wings of the capture event.” >If that weren’t enough, Henderson also claimed to hear of DICE developers being afraid for the future. “One of the biggest concerns to stem from the Battlefield 2042 beta though, is that some hard-working DICE developers are concerned for their jobs. By all accounts that I know of, rumblings in the studio have started, with some developers already speaking out to close friends at other studios.” Management hasn’t given any indication of layoffs just yet though. https://archive.ph/QFVUh Battlefield 2042 Beta Shows That It Needs More Time >Battlefield 2042’s beta went live earlier this month amid much fanfare and hype. However, that fanfare was short-lived as the beta showed that the game certainly needs more time. >It’s now clear why Battlefield 2042 was delayed from its original release date later this month to the end of November but it’s doubtful that it will be enough time to fix the issues present in the beta. >The graphics are the most immediate issue with the game. It’s unbelievable that the game can look as bad as it does. Battlefield 2042 should be benefitting from the next-gen bump of being the first game of the series on the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S systems. >Yet, it arguably looks worse than last generation’s Battlefield V does on the new systems. Halo Infinite was delayed by a whole year because of the underwhelming graphics and the reaction by fans to the game. Battlefield 2042 may or may not need that much time, but one thing is certain, it’s not graphically ready for release next month. Next, we have the bugs. >It’s almost tradition at this point for a Battlefield game to launch riddled with bugs, server issues, and/or other quality of life issues that need to be fixed over the following year. Battlefield 2042 appears to be no different thus far. In fact, it seems like it is on the exact same path as its predecessor, Battlefield V. >That game was also delayed from a late October release to a late November release and we all know that the one month delay didn’t stop Battlefield V from being one of the worst launches in the history of the franchise. It shouldn’t be the case where EA consistently pushes out Battlefield games that are unfinished and in need of several updates to meet a satisfying level of quality. https://archive.ph/hbF3B What will be the bigger shitstorm this year, battlefield 2042 or call of duty vanguard?

>>85652 The FOSS argument is that, if "everything" was open-source, then that means people can infinitely improve and optimize to the point that there's no need to diversify. The reality is that everyone has centralized on one platform and abandoned everything else. X86 has been known for years to be extremely archaic in it's design, which resulted in eventual alternatives like PowerPc architecture. However, that never took off outside of Macs and consoles, and even those eventually caved to start using x86. Now, IIRC, the only real alternative to x86 that's prospering is ARM, but that's entirely do to the fact that it was designed for smartphones and micro-systems (Roku, Amazon Fire, etc.). Simply put, open-sourcing the computer industry when it came to computer architecture resulted in the decline of alternatives and options.

>>85654 To be fair, a lot of what got the ball rolling in that direction was IBM's absolutely titanic legacy when it came to business machines. The whole reason why anybody even wanted to clone the IBM in the first place was so that they could have cheaper home alternatives to their office machines that maintained compatibility. You might still have ended up with a diverse hardware landscape were the office machine market more diverse to begin with. It wasn't just home/office compatibility that was desired, but business to business compatibility that drove the near monopolization of hardware into a single architecture. It was just too uneconomical to stray from the status quo and deal with other businesses who weren't running the same software and hardware as you were. Shit, I remember my supervisor spending many nights converting patterns that the prototype departments would send our way from some shitty Apple format to CAD so they could be cut on our Kongsberg machines - because they just couldn't get their "creative juices" flowing on anything but their precious fucking Macs. It was a huge pain in the ass, and wasted an entire shift's production for him. I can't imagine the waste if we had to deal with multiple conversions for multiple software suites on multiple different computer systems for multiple different customers both internal and external. The market was likely always going to end up dominated by a single architecture. It's only x86 because IBM was already the market leader in office machines at the time that PCs really started to take off in business.
>>85658 Anon you're thinking logically. You underestimate how many people are literally brainwashed by the mass of culture around them to just "do" things they might not even enjoy. TV is an excellent example of this. I have family nearby that watches shows they don't give a shit about or even probably dislike, but they can't stop watching it. There are teenage girls in the house who have literally zero interest in the shows the rest of the family watches like fucking Dilbert, and they will still sit at the couch and watch it. Its not like its some crazy family thing, though they do often "watch as a family", but they usually sit in silence or go on their phones in front of the TV, or have very disinterested looks on their faces. This is for shows even they willingly choose. It makes no fucking sense.

>>85654 You're right, but also sorta wrong, but it's a nuanced situation. >x86 is archaic It is and it isn't. the interface has backwards compatibility back to the earliest releases, but under the hood these no longer map to the same commands they once did. An opcode as simple as "add two registers" will map to multiple micro-opcodes which may or may not try to optimize the instruction but will definitely map to whatever internal interface the hardware uses. It's arguably a limitation but not nearly as much as it would be if the old architectures were maintained. ARM and other RISC architectures don't really suffer from the same problem because they minimize instructions by design, and their regular opcodes are closer to Intel's internal platform than their external interface. Intel does not publish information pertaining to their external interface, they just occasionally add new opcodes that map to different micro-ops and then compilers will eventually use them for optimizations. >PowerPC never took off It actually found niches in servers and military hardware for a time. I think you're romanticizing the appeal of it. It's not an amazing spec, and it lost to Intel for a few reasons. Sure, with more funding and support maybe it could have competed, but... >open-sourcing hardware led to fewer options The actual architecture is far from open source, there's just a spec to write against now, which was always sorta the case. Intel still hides plenty, including secret opcodes. Hardware is not "open source" the same way software often is, and even if it were, it's difficult to validate and enforce. All of them are encumbered by licensing anyways. You're completely underestimating the reason why everyone went to x86 in the first place: supporting multiple architectures was absolute cancer, and the further back you go this only gets worse. Things are better now than ever. Most compilers, GCC especially, can spit out binaries for basically anything. Even then, you need to ensure there's a C library and some other stuff. And you have issues, like the new M1 Macs which are ostensibly ARM but often require some custom tweaks to get stuff working. And this only solves the issue if you're willing to compile it or someone will package it (and all its dependencies) for you. >The only real alternative is ARM... because smartphones and micro-systems It caught on there years ago due to power requirements, but I think this is a case of Intel never having to design for that case before and completely fumbling. They've had some major holdups the past decade or two. Their attempt at x64 bombed. Their attempt at low-power bombed. Their attempts at shrinking their dies has bombed multiple times in a row now. It's not their strength. Intel got fucked by their own incompetence the same way Detroit did. More power works great until you have enough and then portability and power start to matter more, and if you can't design for that you will die. Ultimately I don't think the decline in options is because of the spec being open. It's because IBM, Microsoft, and Intel conspired to make it the dominant force so they could all maintain a monopoly and Windows support for non-x86 has never been good. Microsoft really killed alternatives on the home desktop more than anything as a means of lock-in, and it was so effective it made alternative parts go from rare to unavailable. >>85655 Per above, Intel's spec is basically a huge lie so it's pretty wrong to say it's "open source". Furthermore, it's encumbered by patents and licensing, so not actually open even if the true spec was. RISC-V is still a step in the right direction for openness. The addons are responsible for a lot of important stuff like encoding and wireless that are needed for a modern CPU, but getting the core adders and opcode processing to be an open design is huge. The addons are closed on modern chips, too, and are also encumbered by patents and licensing. People making ARM SoCs are also paying for these addons to be on their board, and they are black boxes. RISC-V lets us go from "the entire motherboard is a black box" to "the bits from the integrator are open". Once that becomes standard, we can see open source module alternatives appear. We can also effectively force competitors to contribute to the same design. Intel and AMD have both made some performance gains in the past few generations, but being able to see each other's work and improve on it would theoretically import those gains. You're right, the inability for someone to cook their own modern silicon is a real issue, but it still lowers the barrier of entry to competition and allows home users who are interested in CPU design to get involved and offer feedback.

As sex (n.) took on erotic qualities in 20c., gender came to be the usual English word for "sex of a human being," in which use it was at first regarded as colloquial or humorous. >>440355 Not really. It's just that masculine/neuter/feminine barely have any logic to them anymore in German. The cases are still perfectly intact but you can see shitloads of words that no longer have reason behind the choice for the gender, it's just "well that's just how it is". For example words ending with -ung will be always feminine, -chen will always be neuter and -rer will always be masculine. But then you've got shit that is not encompassed by any rule and they have zero logic to them beyond you simply being expected to memorise individual words.

>>440517 >French voices To be honest, French voice acting in vidya, when it exists, is mostly at best slightly inferior to the original or English VA, or absolutely preposterous (Vanquish in PS3 is an absolute trainwreck). I'd say It works better when it's from a Eastern European game like S.T.A.L.K.E.R or Metro because they didn't try doing shitty accents in those. The VA I remember the most from my childhood was Serious Sam's French voice, because from TFE to 2 he was voiced by the late Patrick Poivey, who was also the main dub actor for Bruce Willis. It slightly added more to the game's silly tone because Sam had this "easy to like, hard to kill guy" voice, like you were playing as John McLane instead. Now Sam only speaks English since 3. >French Characters Polnareff from Jojo, Helena Douglas and her mother was French, Raphael from Soul Calibur, Widowmaker, Glass Joe from Punch-out, TF2's Spy, and saint Jeanne d'Arc is also technically vidya thanks to the many times the Japanese decided to add her as a character in their vidya.

>>85917 >I hate American partisan politics so much I honestly prefer our two party system over how they handle it in european countries. At least our rightwingers have a say in this country's future. Republicans (rightwing) make up 49.5% of America's voters. Democrats make up the other 49.5%, and the remaining 1% is the Green Party and Libertarian Party. So American elections have a 50/50 chance of electing rightwingers into political positions of power. In a place like Germany, there's this illusion of there being many parties, but they're all more or less the same flavor of leftwing agendas. The lone rightwing voice (AfD) is vastly outnumbered and only has a minority of votes. Desperating competing against coalitions of left leaning parties that don't want to work with RaCiSt NaZiS. Rightwingers have no say in Germany's future. AfD could turn things around if given the chance, but they don't have the votes or political influence to unfuck the country.

Lettuce and cherry tomatoes grow well in pots, and are staples of any salad. The smaller peppers can also be grown in pots. You can actually buy little "salad pot" starter kits that work pretty well and grow on a windowsill, and any decent gardening store will have on their website the seedlings of different plants and what they need. >>85940 >Is this Old Man's War by Scalzi? I didn't even know there were sequels if it is. I'd recommend the second book and that's about it because it follows the special ops troops and their development, has a nice story about Jane and one of the very hostile to humanity races finding some common ground and I think it added something that really strengthened in the world building in that The human collation are successful in creating a new breed of special forces that basically lets humanity live in otherwise un-inhabitable terrain for any other race, effectively taking humanity out of the need to fight for land and securing their survival but that shit was pretty much forgotten in the later books. The third and fourth books are the same story about the main character from the first book leading a colonization effort on a planet admist political turmoil and it's honestly a fairly lame book, doubly so when it's retold in the eyes of the main character's super special daughter who's super god tier friends with an entire race of aliens, and the last book is a collection of stories following various and is such dogshit because it introduces a big shadowy cabal pulling strings all over the universe and then completely destroys it by the end of the book, and is otherwise a joke in terms of worldbuilding, character writing and plot development. I'll keep in mind growing stuff in a pot. Cheers anon.

>>85953 It's what desperately trying to stay relevant does to you. It's not about creating new timeless material for when the family wants to put something on together that both the kids and adults can like that could be passed on like time capsules (similar to those animated Disney movies made from the 1960s and earlier that got released on VHS, then Laserdisc, then DVD, etc.), these days it's about embracing Lenin's importance of using cinema to create propaganda (and wouldn't you know it, Sony wants their faggy Playstation console to be a movie player since interactivity above not letting viewers skip scenes until they 'Press X to drink a cup of water' wouldn't be good material) While also trying to stay relevant and sensibilities being challenged, the thoughts and expressions are confined to a pre-approved checklist that, for all intents and purposes may as well be identical to when faggots shat on older works for reusing the same tropes. The funniest thing about all of this is that the slope gets more slippery and their descent of the abyss may compel them to, in a few years (give or take with how technology advances) have them remake the same stuff again because the new film they made years ago to shit on the old film will likely be shit on by the 'New new' movie for reasons that I don't think will be any different from what we're hearing these days. >>85960 And since I'm on this tangent, the worst part is that this shit actually still sells either way because just as the creator mentality has devolved into "good enough" territory, so has the consumer mentality. >>85998 I think they(amazon prime? whoever's producing that shit) wants their own game of thrones, and they had the LotR IP so they thought "why not people will lap it up anyways". I cannot really think of any other reason why they would shove in sex scenes, diversity and most likely copious amounts of edge and GREY MORALITY in the lord of the rings. Which I find funny because Game of Thrones is also getting a current year spinoff series that's possibly releasing in the same timeframe as the new LotR abomination. >>86009 Grey morality can be done well if done from the perspective of forging your own path instead of picking the ones made for you, but simply having "well all sides are evil, that's just human nature" definitely gets old fast. Having everything grey with nothing being black or white just makes it a waste of time to even invest yourself in the story.
>>86016 Grey morality doesn't belong in media like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. Fuck off Kotor 2 is jank with a dumb story. They're franchises very specifically about the struggles of good & evil.

Like how they kill EVERYONE off in Rogue One for shock value. Every single new character added in it also killed off by the end of it. Not even comparable to Order 66 where some manage to escape the slaughter. Nope, none of that shit. Absolutely everyone dead.
>>86003 >Big tiddy sort-of-loli drawn by Asanagi Call THQNordic, I want them to invest in this.
>>86020 Also not off-screen either and not "and then ten years later died of ligma". You get to see pretty much every single one of them die on-screen just in case you wanted just some sliver of hope in the event you were in any way invested into any one of the completely forgettable characters.
>>86020 Well, rogue one was originally envisioned as a gritty war story, kind of like republic commando, but apparently disney fucked things up.
>>86018 wew lad
>>86023 All the characters from Krennic to Saw were supposed to have more to them but Disney decided it was too violent for them so they removed the war from the gritty war movie and left it simply as a gritty movie. But they kept the death scenes so Saw, who was intended to be Jyn's mentor, instead just died five minutes after being introduced to her.
>>85582 > or "environmentally bad." To be fair filtering sea water through desalination does actually make the surrounding waters a lot hotter and cause obsessive plankton or algae breading and because of the heat along with over fishing world wide not enough fish are around to eat them like they otherwise naturally would or something like that anyway. Sorry but Commiefronians have a point there along with B&ing plastic straws. A simple solution would be to just stop draining all the great lakes so boomers can water their grass in a fucking desert and tell Nestle they can't bottle anymore CA water and to fuck off back to Switzerland and over all tell citizens they have to learn to start living within their means because the state can't realistically provide them a Democratic Socialist paradise anymore. BUT..... Commiefornians are retarded so they'll just, refuse to act with real solutions, and blame their exaggerated boogiemen like old Eustace with his pickup truck who lives out in the middle of the Mojave, minds his own fucking business and orders thousand dollars worth of water from a truck every few months and has filters in his back yard to catch the occasional rain fall and of course THAT'S EVIL because it should be given to niggers, spics, and white tweakers who will inevitably OD on heroine and keep littering the streets with plaque infected needles. >>85626 I swear every time I tell one of my leftist friends or family members about how those shitty Emuistan tree's aren't helping and that they should all be cut down exuding ones own for farming extracts and oils they just think I'm crazy and denying climate change or whatever even though I'll say it is a problem to an extent and that we should boycott China if we actually give a shit. >>86018 >creator of God of War couldn't get gud at Metroid Dread Jaffe or the fag behind the new games? <The former That's surprising. >>86019 >the bad guys were actually good? Haven't there been several stories were the villain originally was the hero, but became corrupted along the way, so the protagonist was sent on a mission to put them down like the sickly dog the former hero is? >>86020 >the good guys were just as bad as the baddies? And, that's even older. Where you have protagonists desperately sticking to their own moral code, despite the circumstances, for no other reason than because they believe that their morals overrule everyone else's, and to defy that is to delegitimize all of their prior actions.
I had a centrist get super salty at me when I pointed out that they much like the left and right wingers they lord over, they are just as ready to jump into confirmation bias to defend their views and will deny object reality just to stay in the middle. >>86028 (checked) >That's surprising. Anyone who plays too much gAAAy shit will suffer brainrot from mindlessly following quest markers and such. >>86040 >but no one wants to talk about how our food prices are plan fucking robbery Really? Here in the U.S., talking about Canada's insane pricing has been a joke for years. Call of Duty: Vanguard Might Be The First Game In A New Trilogy >The Call of Duty franchise covers multiple theaters of war, often opting to tell fictional stories within a web of historical conflict (e.g., World at War, Black Ops, the first few games in the entire franchise, etc.). We take on the role of soldiers on the front lines, and sometimes these player characters become mainstays – Captain Price/Roach in Infinity Ward’s original Modern Warfare trilogy and Mason/Woods in Treyarch’s Black Ops franchise. >Call of Duty: Vanguard is the latest entry in the long-running CoD universe and its writers want the game’s characters to be mainstays. Vanguard might end up being the first game in another Call of Duty trilogy. >It is important to keep in mind what is going on within Activision Blizzard at this time regarding ongoing allegations about the work culture. The ongoing lawsuit from the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) against the company is over reported toxic workplace culture. >The bulk of the suit focuses on "violations of the state's civil rights and equal pay laws," specifically regarding the treatment of women and other marginalized groups. To learn more about the proceedings thus far, including details listed in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, please check out our previous coverage here. >We came into this process saying ‘how do we make iconic CoD characters’ because we don’t really have that in Call of Duty right now,” Sam Maggs, writer at Sledgehammer games, said. “We came into this being like, ‘who could be our flagship CoD characters’ because we want to make Vanguard 2 and Vanguard 3. >We have two more stories that we really want to tell with these characters, so we’re hoping that if people love them as much as we do, we get to continue to tell the story of these people and make them figureheads for this era of CoD.” You can listen to Maggs and the rest of the writing team talk about this around the 43-minute mark in the video above. >Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign follows an elite task force – Sergeant Arthur Kingsley, Lieutenant Polina Petrova, Private Lucas Riggs, Lieutenant 1st Class Wade Jackson – as they venture deep into Nazi Germany to bring the Reich’s mysterious Pheonix Project down to its knees. https://archive.ph/CbFtk Ubisoft’s Cuba-inspired Far Cry 6 game faces pressure to perform >Ubisoft Entertainment SA usually releases several blockbuster video game titles a year. But in 2021, thanks to a string of delays caused in part by the pandemic, the French publisher has just one: Far Cry 6, which comes out Thursday for PCs and consoles. >The stakes are high for the latest entry in the nearly two-decade-old franchise. Ubisoft shares have fallen more than 40% from a January high largely due to a weak software lineup and the fallout from allegations of sexual misconduct last summer. >Ubi needs a hit,” said Doug Clinton, a managing partner at Loup Ventures. “They’re in culture hell and the stock has underperformed other major publishers. A hit could restore some badly needed momentum to both company and stock.” >Clinton said he expects Far Cry 6 to outproduce 2018’s Far Cry 5, which sold 5 million copies in its first week. Anything under 6 million units would be “a big disappointment,” and Ubisoft’s shares could languish during the wait for the next big title, he said. >Far Cry 6, a first-person shooter, is set on a Cuba-inspired island called Yara, amid a bloody revolution. The game features Giancarlo Esposito, the star of hit TV series “Better Call Saul,” as the antagonist, dictator Antón Castillo. The player becomes a guerrilla fighter and sets out to take him down. >Early reviews have been mixed, with many critics noting that Far Cry 6 follows the same open-world formula as many of Ubisoft’s other big franchises, such as Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs. Some reviewers expressed disappointment with the game’s depiction of Latin America. Bloomberg spent a few hours with the game and found it slick and fun, if formulaic. >It will feel very familiar to anyone who has played previous Far Cry games. Esposito’s performance is a highlight but his appearances aren’t as frequent as this reporter would have liked. https://archive.ph/noozN
