>This is only going to work if the rules you propose are actually enforced
I want them to be "guidelines" and not rules. I emphasized it in the blog thread.
>waste of time and effort from the BO
You can make an account on this imageboard and regulate your own thread
if the email server is not broken ofc. I don't wish to regulate this thread nor I wish the BO to do it either (except in obvious spammer cases)
>try to direct people into one of the four/five different generic "talk about magic" threads.
I want this thread to be the main "talk about magic" thread. Where the discussion is around 5-10 replies and doesn't deserve the creation of a thread or the topic is too beefy for the question thread. We are not at sunflower. Sunflower was not newcomer friendly. It had no question thread either and the BO tried to send away newfags all the time. I want to make fringe more accessible by having threads where you can talk about your "stuff" with 2 or 3 other posters, while keeping the rest of the topical threads pristine. This thread should serve the
talk about stuff function.
And at sunflower the BO himself derailed his own threads all the time and rarely cared. That place was a sort of sunflower discord for plebs and a
please charge my magic sigils to establish my new NWO, thanks in advance bye.
The cyclical summer was supposed to strengthen gensokyo or something similar, while the relax and the blog thread was mainly for the BO to rant about stuff...
If you think that place was "messy" then you should remember the old fringe days where we had /loosh/ /edgy/ /drama/ /meta/ /arcane/ and other barely used alt boards. It all served to keep fringe "clean". Intrusive thoughts is like /edgy/ and /loosh/ contained within a single thread. Magic discussion is like /loosh+drama+fringe/. But I want it to be somewhat
proper for once. We can behave if we really try it, but no need to force it. If you want to be a faggot then be a faggot, but don't get surprised for being called as one.
>it became near impossible to remember where your past conversations took place since all the different discussion threads served a functionally identical purpose
We have 6+ blog threads and 2+ intrusive thought threads at this moment. Now you will be able to narrow down if it was a
discussion about some random topic or about some blogpost. The previous blog thread had 10k+ character long multiposts and 1 liner replies arguing about inane shit all the time. Some of those discussions were good, but if anyone wanted to post their "piece", they didn't dare to disturb the discussion or wanted it to get lost in that mess. In the blog thread you can post your piece whenever. While in this thread we will
discuss stuff as usual
In reality; nothing truly changed. We just have a blog thread for those who blog all the time and wish to blog further. And these are mere guidelines. If it won't work then it won't work. This is a test run to see how well people can adjust. I wanted to do this far earlier. Was waiting for a time when half the board is not under psychosis. Personally I will use the blog thread for effort posts, Blood Anon said he won't post his astral journeys publicly for now, but he will blog about other stuff anyway. eggAnon can post about his journeys and mishaps in this thread too, but he cannot do his usual thing where he posts his post and expect everyone to read it and try to bail him out all the time. So if he just wants to talk about his stuff he will blog there. If he wants feedback then he will post it here. If he wants help he will post it in the help and guidance thread.
The previous blog threads served as his "personal containment" (by his own words), but it just makes him rant about the same issue all the time without improving. With this he is forced to decide if he wants to talk out loud - the blog thread
>>13990 - or he wants some feedback or discussion - this thread - or he is begging for help like he does all the time when shit hits the fan - help thread
>>9573.
FYI. I need this and he too needs this. Do you know why? EggAnon posts way too much and I don't have time to read through his situation all the time, because once I read through it, he already forgot everything that was written down and he has a new issue now out of nowhere. So, I want him to understand that he is not a giant baby for the entire fringe board to take care of. Where he thinks every adept is up to date with his issue and willing to help him all the time. I want him to decide if he really wants help or he just wants to rant or he wants to paint a picture of his situation
like some public journal. Smiley did that too. It should serve as a warning to every neophyte who neglects their practice at least, but he shouldn't expect others to help him all the time when he just blogs about himself instead of properly asking for help. Currently he is a mix of a helpless child and a shameless hobo in his current state. Was thinking about making him an "eggbasket" thread last year, but realized that it would just make him wallow in his delusions even harder, so I restrained myself for making him a containment thread. I remember when fringe had always 1 or 2 schizos who shat up their own containment thread because they thought online wizards can help them. They either got some good advice or got trolled as a result. But you cannot help those who refuse listening to sound advice
I usually read through the help and guidance thread and the question thread to see where I can help and if the person was helped by an another anon then I will read an another thread if I have enough time or care to do that.
Reading through a "proper blog thread" should be like reading articles on the web or a short novel. While reading through the discussion thread is only worthwhile if you want to participate in said discussion or you want to start one by yourself.
And please don't bring up sunflower because the sunflower BO was the main culprit of spamming and shitting up the board. Even Smiley knew better how to self regulate his ranting addiction. But I don't want to diss sunflower too much either. /haven/ was even worse in this regard. No matter how bad sunflower looked, it was still an improvement.
>And I think it's a bit counterintuitive to expect that there's going to be no discussion on a public imageboard thread. Isn't discussion the entire point of web forums?
Discussion is one of it's function. Every forum has locked threads and other "protected threads" where no one is allowed to derail the thread. And
discussion is not prohibited in the blog thread. It is asked to kept at minimum, so the bloggers can blog in peace.
I am sure no one wants to post their effortpost when eggAnon wants to know which spirit he raped/sold his soul while other people are arguing about something offtopic besides it
>pic somewhat related
It's like having different books and notebooks on your desk. Instead of having a doodle notebook for kids which serves as a memoir for 5 different people at the same time.
I understand your point. That is why I didn't make this distinction before. But now I want a little improvement, because this helps no one on this board. It will have a hard time creating content worth archiving.
>became near impossible to remember where your past conversations took place
Can you remember which blog thread your conversation took place? You will have to scroll trough around 6k+ already. With this the effort posts will have a place where they can gather instead of being lost. If I let things progress as they did previously, then we would be at blog thread #10 by 2026. I don't think you would be able to find your own posts better if nothing changes.
To remind everyone what a "blog" is. The blog was usually an article and people commented under it where the author either replied or made a new blog as a result. But not every blog allowed a comment section, because the author didn't want to comment or he wanted to avoid a flamewar.
I want the proper blogging feature to return, so wizards can feel that
the stage is theirs for their performance
instead trying to yell on the street while 3 drunks are brawling and everyone rather watches the drunks and ignores the actual performance
If you have more questions then feel free to discuss it here
I expected concerns like yours and wanted to word the OP clearer at the start, but realized most people will get it and we can talk out the rest anyway.
