It's no longer a matter only of if someone is alive, but if the person is himself in that timeline, or was replaced by aliens. Many people seem to have roles that are egregorically essential, so they can't be removed without serious damage to very large systems. It's not just about assassinating someone and it's your way. There has to be a balance, so maybe in many cases it's better to leave your enemy alive and then weaken his position instead, or replacing him with a shapeshifter, or replacing the pilot of this body. What I get is that they're a group of mostly comparatively very young vampires staying together. They have a sensitivity and innocence to them, a surface refinement, but seem overall rather weak. If they had stayed away they'd be fine, but as I know how difficult removing the green crystals is, I doubt they'd be able to unless they were practicing, and also to what I know, this isn't something vampires in general do.
