Why would the government reduce itself? Why would a politician care about spending or debt? The budget isn't their money and the debt isn't their problem. This isn't a monarchy.

It doesn't actually say that: <by deputizing and contracting with State and local law enforcement officers, former Federal officers, officers and personnel within other Federal agencies Basically, they're reassiging people who already work for the government. It's like when Trump sent those IRS agents down to Texas to do border patrol work rather than hiring more ICE agents.
