>Is THE main villain of his series >Actually wins against the main cast >Represents everything shitty in the world >Never truly defeated, only prevented >Later games are all plans of him to destroy everything <NUH-UH THIS RANDOM ART BOOK SAYS THAT THIS RANDOM SPACE TUMOR IS AN ALIEN AND IS SUPER DUPER STRONG AND INVINCIBLE AND UNAFFECTED BY ANYTHING BECAUSE IT'S FROM SPACE Am i the only one who hates this?
Japanese RPGs need that massive big bad enemy at the end of the game to really end things off with a bang. And sometimes they make it a pseudo metaphysical or otherworldly entity so it becomes really big and really bad. Just for that extra effect. And we know how wacky their games can be. Sometimes they just go too far with the lore and it becomes lame really fast. Also for some reason they also really like their aliens.

>>6185 You know it's bad when everyone roots for the villain because he's trying his hardest to accomplish anything.
>>6207 I feel like such a philosophy has ruined a few games, though. I didn't enjoy Xenoblade 3 nearly as much as 1 or 2 because the final boss was just some chaos god of fear and stagnation, with no deep personal links or attachment to the main party like Zanza with the redirected revenge quest or Malos with the repeated clashing of personal ideals in XB1 and XB2 respectively. Sure he's seen a lot throughout the story but he didn't personally fuck over anyone and just acts as a force of nature or greater being that manipulates others. That and a lot of other factors with the story falling off and dragging in the third half make that game feel so shit compared to XB1 and XB2. At least his first phase is cool, being a fight on a stage he keeps changing to serve as trials for the party and try and poke holes in their resolve. If only it didn't nerf your damage by 95% and completely shit on lifesteal/crit heal builds as a result for that first phase.
