Post about the game you're playing right now in this thread and post updates as you progress! I'm playing Sonic unleashed for the first time with the recompilation that came out recently. It works pretty well on Linux. https://github.com/hedge-dev/UnleashedRecomp There's already a Fitgirl Repacks version of this up. It's for windows but you can just make the linux version point to the data folders in it and it'll work just fine. I'm loving the atmosphere of the game. Makes me wish the game had a first person mode in it. I've just completed the tutorial stage and so far I don't really have complaints aside from the controls being a bit wonky, but that's true for every 3D sonic game. I guess the bad parts are gonna come up later. There's also two secret cats! let's hope I don't end up abandoning this thread

I'm trying out the first night stage and it's not bad at all tbh. I don't know why reviewers were this mad about it. The end stage boss is kinda hard tho. I'll finish it later
>>7854 The console versions framerate was REALLY bad and the wearhog stages don't reward you for skillful play. I still think this game should've had the subtitle of Sonic and Knuckles 2 with Knuckles having the beat em up segments although having them faster and a better scoring system would've made them received better.

I always liked Sonic Unleashed. The Werehog gameplay is definitely not as fun as the Daytime stages, and frankly I never liked the Boost gameplay as much as the Adventure-style gameplay in the 3D games before it, but Sonic Unleashed was so polished that it still sold me. The graphics and sound are excellent, and the gameplay is fun, even if not my favorite. I don't usually care about graphics much, but I must admit that if the night stages didn't look so nice, I might hate the Werehog stages more. But they do look very nice, so I like the stages, at least kinda. But yes, a proper scoring system is what the game is missing. It has one, but could have been a lot better. No Sonic game has ever had a scoring system as good as Sonic Adventure 2. I don't know why they could never just recreate that. >>7855 SPOILERS FOR OP. DON'T READ BELOW IF YOU DON'T WANNA BE SPOILED ON SONIC UNLEASHED. I subscribe to the conspiracy theory that the Werehog and Chip are remnants of an attempt at a 3D Ristar game. The Werehog's stretchy arms and swinging on poles and stuff all resemble Ristar, and SPOILERS FOR OP Ristar is the spirit of a star, while Chip is the spirit of the planet. But then Sega didn't have enough confidence in Ristar and had them tack on the work they've already done to a Sonic game, or perhaps pivot the work into a Sonic game (and the Boost gameplay was probably invented at this point, after the other concepts were already around).

Well, looks like my reflexes are absolute dogshit, but I've managed to complete the first night stage. I had an easier time beating it when I lowered the FPS to 30 for some reason. Maybe that had an effect? I didn't know there were flying segments in the game as well. They look nice, but could do without with the quick time sequences maybe. I wish I'd seen this thread a few days ago, and that it had been made a little earlier. After 2 (plus?) years I finally started an in earnest playthrough of Elden Ring. I've been going for about a week on and off and now I've just beat Elden John's gold hologram and have poked around in a couple of underground locations before I fight the horny cockblocker. To start at the beginning I picked deprived since I would start with a club and I was planning to do a all club(s) run or at least a hammers + colossals run. Which I've largely stuck to. Soon after starting I swapped out for the spiked club which gave me a bleed option until I eventually found a large club. Which as it turned out wasn't that far away from the start but it took me several hours to find it. I pretty much just used the large club for then on out with a back up option of the great stars, mostly just for farming purposes. Finally after hours I happened on to, largely by accident, the weapon I was looking for the Great Club. And I've used it almost exclusively ever since. Up till yesterday anyway, where I found my secondary weapon the Watchdog's "Staff". Which synergizes really well since things strong to holy usually are weak to magic and if they're strong to both then I can still just beat things to death with the club part. I have efficiently become a "bonk mage". Which was my intent all along. Or possibly a barbarian cleric. A very pretty one. I was going to post about it in the Souls thread on /v/ but that thread's about dead and there's not much point in making another until LoP DLC or Nightreign drops so I'll just post about it here until I reach the end and then I'll make a cross post there sharing my final thoughts.
>>7875 I'm glad I got the Watchdog's Staff and took it to +10. It gives me a ranged option that I was really badly missing for dozens of hours. I use it as my dragon killer, since they are weak to magic. It's a bit longer than my club so it's easier to hit things too that bounce around. It works with my Erdtree themed build too. I wonder if I should power stance them both instead of swapping them out? Maybe get a bit more physical damage out of my swings.

So I did the night and the day stages in africa and I STILL can't play rooftop run. Almost had crazy sex with Amy tho so that's cool. Nighttime spagonia looks nice too.

I am too lazy to find other doom weapon mods, pisses me off most doom weapon mods don't include a rocket launcher because reasons.
I played through about 20 maps of Hell in Hell and I'd say this map pack is pretty boring, the only good thing about it that it doesn't throw tons of monsters like Doomed Urbex does and Doomed Urbex was fucking terrible to play because of that. I didn't made more screenshots of my playthrough with this map because they are just the same boring looking doom maps, most of the time the maps are easily finished but there was like 2 maps that had some bugs so I had to cheat in order to progress. Man I may as play just continue playing Obsidian, at least the maps are random generated and I can fine tune the settings. I wish more FPS games had a random map generator because I like those. I wonder how many custom maps are available for Half Life, maybe I should give this one a shot too with some weapon mods, but I am not sure how modding Half Life works now since both of those games got a birthday update which sounds like to me it is breaking compatibility with old mods.
Playing through Requiem now, didn't know it was a map pack made in the 90's, well so far the maps are sort of straightforward to play and the monster difficulty is reasonable. Aesthetically speaking there is nothing great looking about it, same standard doom textures with a few custom textures which makes it more quake looking. Also so far doom mods that I find acceptable to play is Lambda, D4T (Death For Threshold? forget its name) and Brutal Doom. I need to look up on Youtube to check out for other Doom weapon mods that may be good to play, but most of them don't even bother adding visual effects to their weapons so I skipped a lot of mods because of that. Embers of Armageddon is too grindy for me considering I need to purchase those upgrades again for every playthrough because it is not permanent, had to tweak D4T mod credit amount since standard credit drop is ridiculous low. Fucking hell. It is 2025 already and there is no other shooter game I could play instead which is not doom. Because there is no other active community for a FPS game that constantly adds new stuff like maps and mods. For some fucking reason everyone wants to use Doom as a base instead. For Quake 1 it is even worse since you can load exactly only one mod and there is a bunch of maps that are made with a specific mod in mind and most new Quake 1 content comes through maps only Sven Coop is ass, as soon you mod Sven Coop the loading times becomes fucking long and tons of Sven maps are awfully short and most of the time are single maps only. God single player FPS gaming has took some major nose dive. I wonder why there is no true FOSS shooter game instead which got at least a small community of autists. I guess there is Xonotic but I have no idea how Xonotic modding works.
