I hate how everything is gay and minimalist now and I want to go back, but I'd have to sacrifice the convenience of modern life to truly capture the 2000s way of living. The idea of playing old games on a CRT tv and watching old tv shows and movies sounds nice, but I'd probably get bored at some point because I'd get that fomo over new shit. How do I cope with this?
>>469535 (OP) I share your sentiment. Whenever I go home, my old CD tower is still intact (here's a pic) and I miss those times. Yes they were less convenient, but they were hopeful for a future that remains
>>469536 A future that remains unfulfilled*
>>469535 (OP) >vid I don't get it, you can do all of that right now
>>469535 (OP) I hated everything about the generation in that video. Bunch of dumbass normie kids who never amounted to anything. Of course you want to go back, OP, because you didn't prepare for now.
>>469535 (OP) expecting better from dysgenics is moronic
>>469536 Yeah maybe I'll do something special once or twice a year where I live my life recapturing the feeling of the 2000s. I won't use a smart phone. I won't watch streaming apps through my tv. I won't play video games released in 2010 and onward. Maybe I can start collecting some 2000s CDs and DVDs and just play them through an Xbox 360. >>469552 It's just a shame that I pretty much missed out on this era. I was alive during it sure, but I had just became a teenager when it pretty much ended. My cousins were the "older brother" in the older brother core aesthetic. I was like the bystander kid that watched them instead of actually participate in this culture. I never got to go out and skateboard with a group of friends, sneak out at night and roam the streets, staying the night at friends houses playing games through LAN. I never even got to dress in the style, or have my room decorated such.
>>469574 >sneak out at night and roam the streets Kids in/from the 2000s were already complaining that they didn't get to do this because they weren't from the '80s. Anyway the 2000s sucked. The '90s were better. Back in the early 2010s I just went and got super into all the vidya and cartoons from the '90s that I had grown to miss over the 2000s. The one advantage of the 21st century is that the internet makes finding all that stuff easier. It makes it a bit easier to go back to the past, to play the non-shitty vidya that don't suck ass. What I really want to do is set up a massive server with a bunch of tv shows and commercials set to run in proper airdate order, using TV Guides as a reference and stuff. Then I can transport myself back whenever I want. I've seen a guy on the internet who did this, but it seems like a ridiculous amount of work to do it well. Maybe I could set something like that up specifically for holidays, though. Just get the Christmas specials up and running, with all the ones I can find. Splice in period accurate commercials to make it whatever year I want it to be. Of course I'd make it somewhere around 1999, because The Matrix was right, that was the peak of humanity. And I'd have access to all sorts of reruns from previous decades. I just don't want to see any post-9/11 trash. That's when we learned that the future wasn't what it used to be. But the past? The past keeps getting better all the time.
>>469578 See I can't really relate to the 90s because I was born at the end of it, '96. I can't say I felt like I missed out on it because I wasn't even alive during the peak of its time. Also I think I know what you're talking about, something like vid-related? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2r5JEawpJ4

Also there are cytube channels that have 24/7 streams of 90s and 2000s media. Not sure if they have the commercials play in-between them, which I would personally have if I made one of those channels just for the authenticity. On a sidenote imagine if there was a website where people can ONLY talk about things during a certain time period, like the 90s or 2000s. Like it'd be against the rules to mention anything that didn't take place during said time period. There's probably a site that exist, I just don't know about it.
>>469583 You could make a board on this very site and just say it's whatever date you want. Every day it advances by one day. But at a certain point it needs to reset or it gets too far into the future. Ban anyone who reveals future knowledge.
>>469535 (OP) most of that looks like trash >>469536 this was the slop of its day >>469574 you can do all this right now your complaint is no friends #@//meetoo >>469578 Please share which software he used go set up the scheduled television >>469583 I got to see how things were in the before times EVEN THOUGH you could feel the "whoomph" of accelerationism taking place while experiencing it, which was it's own important experience I felt like I got >>469619 The cut off date I've seen used before is 2005 because by 2007 big bang theory is out but to be honest big bang theory was probably in development for a long time including 2005 (two years prior) they just hadn't blighted the public with it yet
This resonates with me

Man I really want to do something like download some 2000s television series, like anime that would be airing on adult swim and place 2000s commercials between episodes. For example something exactly like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-BP37EMlXQ

But I would have my own personal favorite anime picks and commercials placed in-between each episode, rather than an ad playing during the episodes. Ideally I find videos that fit the aesthetic of vid-related to place between the episodes, maybe also find some cool vidya commercials that played in the 2000s.
