Front Plates Anonymous 06/08/2016 (Wed) 23:40:37 Id: 62d430 No. 9473 [Reply]
How many of you in the states where you "need" a front plate bother and have you ever been pulled over? I ask since I don't want whatever my new car is to be ruined with drill holes or look awful with that huge plate we have here. I know you can get a thing that makes it so it's not drilled, but I still find it really ugly where they put the plate. It really shows on some cars like the EVO, the STI. A lot of Euro cars too. Even on the mustang it really kills the front of it. I just really want to make sure the plate is not drilled in on whatever car I get.

>>9532 Like I said. They mostly bother Trucks that are trying to not use commercial plates. Like Chevy Vans or trucks like that.
>>9527 My local police are or at least were pretty grounded people, capable of being silly. I don't envy their job of mopping up the shit in my city, but thankfully, there's very little of it to clean up compared to say, Cleveland. Then again, leftist hives are usually full of murderous shitbags.
My car had holes drilled in the front bumper that someone filled in, I'm guessing down in Florida where I got it from. The plate completely ruins the front of the car. I have my mounted inside my grill using the threads for my tow hook

the inefficient jew Anonymous 07/10/2016 (Sun) 19:53:50 Id: 154b1b No. 9934 [Reply]
that feel when we could have fast rumblin' tumblin' cars superior to conventional fossil fuel based cars in everyway but the jewish menace insists we continue to use GASOLINE. For the autistic purists, you can keep your old pieces of shit and burn oil all you want, this is mostly regarding a shift in the general production of newer cars. It is a fact that despite more efficient energy systems available, the jewish menace insists on keeping everything literally a century behind in engineering.

>>11874 Modern GuD powerplants get more than 50% efficiency, so do marine diesels. Diesel engines in cars get up to 40% peak efficiency, BUT they only get it at medium rpm and high load as shown in >>11131 . To get there you would need to use a verry low powered engine and even then you would only get a good efficiency driving a constant speed on the highway. Electric cars get a good efficiency at any speed.

Babby buys his first car Anonymous 11/06/2016 (Sun) 01:01:45 Id: 379f1f No. 10869 [Reply]
Hello /o/, newfag here. So I'm gonna be buying my first car soon and I seek your advices. My max that I'll probably be able to spend will be 3k. I have my heart set on getting an NA miata, possibly an NB. What should I be looking for and what should I be looking to avoid? Also what are your opinions on NA vs NB, and just miatas in general? Can I find a decent miata in for 3k? Should I get something other than a miata? Miata? Thanks…

>>11878 >150k Depends on how well it was maintained, but probably not >200k See above, albeit somewhat more likely A good rule of thumb, regardless of what car/truck you buy, is to keep $1-2k saved up in addition to what you already have saved up to buy the car in case you need to fix/replace anything (water pump, spark plugs, bushings, etc.)

Won't be a problem in the future. I can't do major repairs at home, but that kind of stuff is easy. I am in the north east, but rust isn't as big of a problem where I am. My car is 22 and lived its whole life outside and has no rust like I see in PA or upper NY. It would me a DD till I live can afford to own a pick up as well ( but that's not for a few years so I'll worry about that in the future)

Hi guys! New /o/ poster here, I never came because of all the "8chan's /o/ is dead" I keep on reading round here. But I like the slow pace of the chan and I don't want to come back to halfchan. Anyways, any Eurofags here? I want to make an image summing up all the used cars you can buy cheap any user could see. I'll be making it slowly and I'd like your contribution, since I'm not an engeneer but just a car enthusiast.

Bull/Push Bars Anonymous 10/10/2016 (Mon) 22:34:27 Id: b31218 No. 10748 [Reply]
Hi /o/, /pol/lac/k/ here. With all of these BLM roadblock-type "protests" going on, I think it's probably not a bad idea to invest in a grill guard of some sort. I currently drive a 2001 Toyota Rav4 2.0L FWD. What would I need to look to protect most in the event that I need to break through a human wave? Would a simple bar coming up from the undercarraige to cover the radiator be sufficient, or should I get something a bit more substantial? I'm not overly worried about replacing my headlights; they're pretty cheap assemblies.

>>10761 Maybe not (at least in theory). But this would be a pretty shitty way to find out.
>>10761 >>10783 Depends on the age of the car and sophistication of tech. Some can be set off by kicking the front bumper, some are smart enough to recognize the amount of force required to damage the driver. My car is from the 80s and I jumped a creek and landed bumper-first on the other side and the airbags never went off.
>>10784 2001 Toyota Rav4 2.0L I've been in one accident with it where I rear-ended somebody. The airbag light went on, but the airbags didn't deploy. The impact was at around 15-20mph I think, so I should be okay with running through crowds of chimps. Also, OP here. I didn't realize how fucking slow this board is. Holy shit.

What are your thoughts on these piles of shit?
12 posts and 1 image omitted.
>>5476 In many places outside US, tires are not that cheap or you'll get crappy overpriced tires. On the other hand, recapped tires for passenger cars are banned. My dad used them a few times when they were legal until one was disintegrated and damaged the quarter panel at highway speed.
>>1978 if its just a shitbox, a car im selling or a truck i have no issue putting on used or retreaded tires, but i wouldnt even consider it for anything sporty or that i want to drive hard
>>1978 I wouldnt trust a used tire, the fibre material doesn´t get stronger over time and may break if you are driving fast, also you aren´t allowed do drive at full speed anymore. But seriously, why would you even think about such a stupid Idea?
