Repair or buy my first car Anonymous 12/31/2016 (Sat) 17:41:14 Id: 1ba0b1 No. 11905 [Reply]
My older brother has a 1999 Kompressor Mercedes he doesn't drive anymore after a minor accident and bought a new car. There's a list of repairs that I'm not really sure if I want invest in. However, a neighbor a VW Cabrio for sale for 1000. But I don't know if anything is wrong with it yet. What would be a better choice in the long run? I intend to drive across state borders frequently.

Get a Civic, no question about it. I purchased my second car after owning a Civic for 2 years, it was alright on gas I figure something was wrong with it, but it drove pretty good and was an overall good car. Opted out of getting a second Civic because literally the whole world owns drives them and I wanted something different.

What laws would you make the official rules of this car-centric country of yours? >Banger racing outlawed and punishable by death, too many vintage/rare cars have been destroyed over the years (see pic; the bastard wrecked an 80 year old antique on purpose) >Separate automatic and manual licenses like you have for guns, a stick license will allow you to drive slushboxes but not vice-versa >All cars kept in museums/garages must be driven at least once every 2 weeks by a trusted driver and have direct access to a test track if public roads are not a viable option >Shitty "art" projects where perfectly good classic cars are left to rot in the open are to be immediately dismantled, anything salvageable rescued and the Cultmarxist responsible executed

I managed to finally get my motorcycle license this summer. Too bad it was late summer and life in the Scandinavia is snow and rain, but I got a little bit of driving done. My first bike is a used Kawasaki ZX600 from 1999. It's pretty fun. This thread didn't really help stave off my craving for going out and riding.
>>14348 Northen yuropean too? Sweet. I plan on getting my bike license this winter, so as soon as the snow goes away i can pass the exams and spend the summer on my Minsk. Found an almost functional Minsk under some tent behind a barn. Owner just handed over the documents and said that it has something going on with fuel pump. It was kicking out blue smoke when i tried to start it, did not start though. That smoke looked hopefull though.

New Tesla Model S Anonymous 04/13/2016 (Wed) 12:14:08 Id: 691dbc No. 8790 [Reply]
New Tesla Model S revealed. And fuck, it's worse than the original, and the original has some seriously ugly design points. It's the car of the future, so why does it look so ugly. Literally, Elon Musk is framing the look of the future, and instead chose to make it a horrible pastiche of a new Aston, Mustang and a hatchback with autism. It's just profound how ugly this car has become.

>>14354 You seem to have trouble wrapping your head around this. I'll try to make it more simple for you. 62c7a4 posts this: >Someone has to make electric kits that let us replace drivetrains from engine to electric. Think of the potential. >Of course, it would be quite complicated, and it must leave the regular engine as generator while forgetting the gearbox completely (electric engines+gearboxes will not happen on road cars, maybe only specialised towing vehicles). >No, it has to replace the gearbox (direct acces to engine power for max generation), and handle the power to wheels the same way gearbox did (axles) To which I (4c37af) reply: >electric engines+gearboxes will not happen on road cars >What is the original Honda Insight Since it technically does have an electric motor (although coupled to a combustion engine) in line with a manual transmission. To this, you (62c7a4) reply with a lecture on how electric motors work, which completely misses the point of my post you're replying to, and on top of that you tell me "ur dum" by implying that I don't know fucking middle school physics. Michigan Town Forces Old Man to Sell 20 Cars a Month Driver 09/19/2017 (Tue) 01:48:15 Id: 54fe46 No. 14141 [Reply]

PSA in USA Driver 09/13/2017 (Wed) 12:13:27 Id: cdcc35 No. 13997 [Reply]
http://media.groupe-psa.com/en/press-releases/group/psa-group-starts-operations-usa-carsharing-services To Americans, are you hyped that Peugeot, Citroën and DS will hit the American ground in the next 10 years? This time it seems the French brands will be back, as they bought Opel from GM, which, oppositly, backed from the European market except for the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette and Cadillac, which only sells 30 units per year. So now that your Buicks won't be rebranded Opels, you'll have new French brands to buy from, will you do it? <I believe you guys won't, since only the 208 gti and 308 gti have decent engines, but for the global population, some of their products seem to fit the US market.

>>14260 What the fuck? How is having a nice thing selfish? Were you supposed to buy a Peugeot 206 and donate the rest to children in Africa or something?
>>14261 I don't know if it's jealousy or a remnant of Revolutionary, anti-nobles thinking, but a lot of French people (guess what, the ones that don't earn much and don't want to) kind of hate the richer people. I see a lot of "nice" cars that are keyed just because the brand sounds luxurious (they won't damage a collectible ride though). Last time, in a mob (never change, France), retarded lefties burnt a 1997 Porsche 911 Convertible, just because it was a Porsche and "take that rich people"! Turned out that the owner was a 65 yo retired carpenter that saved 20k€ to buy his dream car, which is cheaper than most new cars in France nowadays. tl;dr: France is full of retarded lefties.
>>14254 That came out wrong. That might have something to do with it, but the main reason is women and cucks like the higher seating position of SUV's and light trucks.

>>14225 Plan your inspections in summers then. No cop in winter will check your car for rust, unless it has obvious holes and structural damage.
>>14231 Does cops like that even exist? I have never experienced or heard anyone have a police officer check your car if it is in working condition or not. Then again I live in a place with no police whats so ever, and I have only been stopped once when I had to do a breathalyzer test.
>>14246 Very rarely, because my country has inspections. 98% are okay with an inspection sticker, maybe 40% stick a ruler in tire threads to measure if those are adequate winter wheels. Thread has to be at least 3.5mm in winter and 2mm in summer. Though tire checks only happen about at the same time as first snow/meltdowns. My teacher once drove an entire summer with fucking slicks, and nobody cared. Police in general assume your car is working, because you were driving it a minute ago. >You turned it off because it is easier to speak to each other without backgroud huming, and rolled down a window to be able to speak to each other and pass papers around. <He does not know and will never that maybe that was the last time your engine ran or your windows do not even go up.
