Hello friends, it has been a while. Played a few visual novels.
>Little Busters (Kud Route)
Played a bit of Little Busters a month or two ago and enjoyed it. Its got a lot of charm and a lot of heart. The girls are all solid but there's a shit ton of slice of life. Now I don't mind it, but there's just so much of it that it was a bit of a drag. I also accidentally got into the Kud route by mistake but her route was still pretty good.
>Love Delivery
A Korean VN dating-sim that was surprisingly great. You basically start out as a loser delivery driver otaku who gets hit by a car and his life changes - you get a job as a delivery driver by the woman who hit you and you start dropping off meals to your middle-school bully. From there, you start a romance with this tsundere girl where you help her with her acting career and becoming her manager.
Gameplay is simple, you use money and time every week to level attributes which you use to unlock new dates. There is korean voice acting and I was impressed at their performance. I'd recommend the Korean dub over the JP.
There's a lot to love with this VN - the setting is refreshing, the protagonist is relatable and funny, and the girl hates your guts. She calls you a retard every other sentence, calls you a weeb, painfully jealous, and annoying at times but all these traits make for an entertaining playthrough. Plus, being her manager comes with its own unexpected challenges and its hard to predict where the story goes. It was much more fun and memorable than I expected, and its definitely one of my favorite dating-sims now.
>Rain Code
Can't say much about this VN because I dropped it after the second boss. Gameplay loop was annoyingly simple - you run straight for 5 minutes, do a very simple JRPG combat sequence, then run 5 more minutes and then look for clues. If I were a gay man, maybe I could stomach it. Voice acting, art were top tier. Hard to say if the story had potential but the gameplay was just too dull for me to continue. I still have faith that 100 line or whatever its called will be good but this game sucked.
