I'm afraid to make a Luanti thread because the game is much better than Minecraft. It's the definitive block building video game. (popularity is not a measure of quality). I'm afraid to make a thread and advertise it's existence for fear of it becoming too popular (normalfags ruin everything). I'm going to make 1 thread about it (per imageboard) and that's it because the userbase is a bit TOO small for my taste and this game could use a bit more players. >How is Luanti better than Minecraft -it is a self contained and simple application. The audio always works, the game always runs reliably. -simple and intuitive Linux and Windows support -it is a convenient platform for mods. This is a big deal. Mods are a 1 click install. There's been times where I didn't like something about the base game so I immediately went and downloaded a mod and the problem was fixed in 5 minutes. -Open source for maximum customizability -every aspect of this game is free as in costs no money. -no corporate faggotry overlordom from micro$oft -Online play is simple and intuitive

Zoonami is such a comfy 3D pokemon experience with the right texture pack. Nodecore is also pretty good if you have autism.

I checked out Mineclone for a little bit before, and didn't really get far since I'm not a huge Minecraft guy. Checking Voxelibre & Mineclonia out today and WHY do they have hunger but not sprinting? Just get rid of hunger entirely, it sucks. Also I may be stupid but I can't seem to get custom skins to work. I've tried replacing the character.png in a few places and libskinupload, no luck.

There's nothing related to mining, crafting, or even travel that you can do with your monsters, and they all passively wander around with the same aimless ground hugging AI. It's extroardinarily comfy and simultaneously scratches my autismblock and pokemon itch, but I'm not surprised it didn't catch on.

Sorry for bumping this with so little content, this popped into my head and I wanted to post it VoxeLibre looks like it's going to edge out MTG for being the most popular Luanti game soon, and good riddance. MTG is such a barren piece of shit guided by flawed design philosophies. On that note, why is the website so awkward? There's no way to sort games by rating, chronology, downloads, etc. It's hard to find new games released, the most recent I'm aware of is Koboldkrieg, an RTS of sorts.

Why the neutral game engine can't stay neutral? I still will use this Luanti, because the general idea is good and I prioritize using FOSS. Also Microsoft, Apple, Google etc. do this type of propaganda more, with more money and break more laws doing it. At least with FOSS, we can do something about this. My child literally saw this first time he clicked this website. Started asking why the school shooting people are there. I had to have 30 minutes conversation about how school shooters and other bad people are mentally ill and use rainbow (and other) flags, but some of those people are not harming others and that is why there is people that promotes this flag. Explained that these people get attention and money to do this. I didn't see what OP was talking about at first, looking at the whole page I didn't see the pride flags, wasn't until I scrolled back to the top and realized there's a carousel banner that rotates images, that eventually I saw it. As much as I hate anything to do with pride, I don't really care about a mod full of fag flags, as to why it's promoted, I don't know what the metric is for mods to end up in the carousel banner, I would assume it has to do with how many downloads and 'favorites' a mod has, the pride flag mod has nearly 21k downloads, compared to something actually useful like the "i have hands" mod on the content page which shows you can pick up nodes with inventories like chest or furnace and move them, which only has 7.5k downloads. I've long since stopped caring about minetest/luanti because of just how poor the modding api and base functionality was years ago. If there was a proper mob framework built in and more functionality baked into the engine I might have cared enough to invest my time into it.
