Lost Media Thread Anonymous 05/30/2025 (Fri) 01:00:54 No. 522434
post obscure lost media you want solved. I’ll start with a classic no one is aware is even lost >Barney Meets His Maker <This is a YouTube video where some dude named Chuck has a gun pointed at a Barney plush’s head. He shouts “DIE YOU COMMIE FUCKER!” before blasting his stuffing (brains) out and it cuts to the GTA “Wasted” screen. In the unedited version, one of the guys is laughing maniacally after Barney is executed. When I first watched it, I died from laughter and was curious on the full video, only to see it was deleted from the internet. I now want to start a search for the FULL version of the video Links >Unedited https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1bQWssCv84[Embed] >Meme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZYErjxUqyE[Embed] >ReReupload (content deleted) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4xv1IaoB1g[Embed]
I don't think your Barney video is even that obscure, but I can see why it would get deleted from the FAGMAN internet. This raises a question: is there anywhere at all where we can store relics of internet culture that can't be hosted by anyone dependent on advertising revenue? e.g. if I wanted to find Numa Numa or Trololo I'd just look on youtube, but where would I go if I wanted to find something like 1 Guy 1 Jar or Mr. Hands?

>>522434 The first link literally contains the full video

>>522469 IK, the video isn’t obscure, (it’s in the important videos playlist) but barely anyone is aware the long version is lost >>522495 No, it isn’t the full video, I found a comment that describes what happened in it (pic related)
>>522434 Piece of shit, that video's annoying as fuck. If you laughed along with that faggot, you are an even bigger fag, lmfao

Still waiting for someone to get Lost Media Wiki or LSuperSonicQ onto this
Ended up finding this comment about the runtime >“full video is like 8 minutes. it ends with them lighting barney with gas and then shotgunning the flaming doll”- nikolasmokalis3425 Also found this comment that proves the original still exists >“Is there any way to get access to the full video, or is it now completely lost aside from this clip?” - shnick1990 <“Yeah, the full video is essentially lost now. The original video owner has copyright claimed all existing reuploads and will continue to do so. My guess is they don't like the attention.” -XScourgeTailsX (Original Uploader of meme) 6 months later >“XScourgeTailsX Well, I suppose I have some good news. Sometime after I left this comment, I ended up searching through all my files, and I ended up finding the full video on my old college laptop. As it turns out, I believe I was actually afraid of the popularity of the clip you uploaded would somehow make the original go obscure, so I downloaded a copy of it while it was still available. When I found it, I immediately made multiple copies of it across a couple of hard drives to prevent myself from losing it. It truly was an experience getting to watch the original video again, as it's one of my earliest YouTube memories. That being said, I'm afraid to make the video available, because I'm worried that the original uploader will come after me. I just wanted to share that this video is not gone forever.” - shnick1990 <“shnick1990 Dude, that's fucking awesome! Yeah, I'd definitely hang on to those copies. It's a piece of internet history and must not be forgotten. However, in terms of reuploading, I'd probably just refrain from doing it. That's just me though. You can do whatever you feel is necessary.” - XScourgeTailsX >“XScourgeTailsX Yeah, as I said, I'm afraid to reupload it because I'm worried about what the original uploader would do, especially if a reupload initiated a Streisand Effect where a mass group of people started mirroring it everywhere, so unfortunately the most I can do to preserve it right now is to keep the copies I made. It feels very frustrating that I'm essentially sitting on a piece of lost media, but because of how aggressive the original uploader has been about taking it down there's little I can do to make it available.” - shnick1990 Well, fuck the original uploaders.
Maybe shnick1990 could give a catbox link for it cuz I still really want to watch the full thing.
>>522469 Torrents is about your only option and that's entirely dependent on people keeping the torrent alive. That and freenet I suppose
>>526747 >>526749 archive.org you double nigger. thats what its for
>>526776 Problem is, I have no idea what the original video’s title was (the original 2006 upload’s) and plus i don’t think anyone archived it

The future of the internet is IPFS content routed through I2P. I will not explain futher.
>>527130 I'll switch to that if it becomes more mainstream. Then I'll call myself "I2P User" instead of "Tor User".
>>527130 >>527317 i2p will never take off because it's slow on purpose in order to avoid traffic analysis. with garlic routing your packets have to wait to be bundled with the constant stream of passing traffic. it's great for security, but even Tor (which is much faster) is much too slow for most people to use it for normal browsing. i like content-based addressing as a replacement for DNS. i'm cautiously hopeful for the future of gnunet and whatever tim berners-lee is currently on.
Crowbcat made two videos dunking on VR games. Then deleted EVERYTHING like a huge nignog. Somebody reuped the first one called "Virtual reality games are not so great", but the second one called something like "VR still isn't great"or "VR still isn't there", and was about 20-30 min long, isn't on youtube or internet archive, so I guess it's lost. I hate people who delete their own videos. This must be how netflix fags feel all the time.
