The glowies fear qTox Anonymous 06/09/2025 (Mon) 15:31:23 No. 524099
I made a post on 4chan's /soc/ board asking if anyone uses qTox, and explaining that I've never seen anyone using it. Half an hour later, two glowies and one anon replied. The glowies immediately tried to shut down the conversation by associating qTox with pedophilia and illegal "file" sharing, and when I tried to reply to the anon, the entire thread was already 404'd. I haven't seen a single anon on 4chan discuss anything about qTox, not even on /g/ either. The glowies seem to be keeping this app's existence hidden from everyone, so there's definitely something they fear about us anons using this app. I've known about this app for an entire year, so I was actually surprised to see that nobody else even knew of this app's existence, even moreso the anons on 4chan. There's also Trifa, which is basically qTox for Android, and it uses the same protocol as qTox, which allows both Trifa and qTox to communicate with one another. Doing video calls is only good when it's between two anons, anything more than that would require a high speed gigabit ethernet connection. It can also share files as well, and the default limit can be disabled to allow massive files to be shared. The best setup I can think of for using qTox and Trifa is to use qTox on an old IBM Thinkpad laptop with Linux intstalled and the Intel IME/AMD PSP disabled, and Trifa on a phone/tablet with Lineage OS that has SE Linux enabled.

>>524099 i've never heard about qTox, what is it for? just a messaging/file sharing app?
>>524908 It's a FOSS app which has encrypted P2P messaging with text, voice, and video chat. It's basically like a super simple google chat/meet app, but without the MITM server. The account you make is stored locally on your system, and it's portable too, meaning you can copy the account files to a different PC and use it there. It does have file sharing, but I haven't done enough testing to know exactly how big the files can be. I took some screenshots of my temporary account on qTox. >>524921 Pictures of glowsticks being dumped into a volcano
>>524099 >posting on cuckchan There's your problem, what did you expect? I've personally never used qTox, or Trifa, let alone heard about it, but it looks comfy. How active are they? I might give it a shot if there is any activity on there. Have you ever heard of matrix? Its an open network for secure, decentralised communication. Haven't met anyone that uses it, but I like it.
>>526964 >I dont know anyone who uses it though Uh... I mean. Your posting on a website where every single BO and moderator uses it.
>>524099 >The best setup I can think of... you can't be this paranoid about privacy and forget that tox exposes your ip to everyone you talk to
>>524099 why would i use Tox over signal, session or simplex?
>>524099 I will be using this app to and try to give a feedback on the matter.
>>524099 I can't install a version of this software without it ever missing an entry point. Now what do?
