Thread dedicated to the discussion of games from the Fire Emblem franchise. The often asked question: "I'm new to the series. Where should I start?" for modern FE experience is Three Houses (Switch - 2019) or Engage (Switch - 2023), and for semi old school FE experience is Awakening (3DS - 2012) or Fates (3DS - 2015) or Echoes (3DS - 2017). There’s an avatar/My Unit, but their only purpose is to perform summons. There is a lot of debate on the canonicity of the game. Shez joins the military academy of Garreg Mach Monastery and becomes a student in one of three classes. Each including students from one of the three nations of the continent of Fódlan. The story is set in an alternate timeline where Byleth didn't become a professor of the Garreg Mach Monastery. https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Fire_Emblem_Warriors:_Three_Hopes https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/Fire_Emblem_Warriors:_Three_Hopes >Fire Emblem Engage >Nintendo Switch (Switch) - 2023 Set on the continent of Elyos, a land divided into five regions: Lythos, Firene, Brodia, Elusia, and Solm. Lythos is a central holy land reserved for the Divine Dragon and their attendants. The realms of Firene, Brodia, and Solm largely cooperate with each other, while the kingdoms of Brodia and Elusia are on hostile terms, fighting frequent skirmishes over their borderlands. Most citizens of Firene, Brodia, and Solm revere the Divine Dragon as their deity, while most Elusians worship the Fell Dragon. Dragons live in human form the vast majority of their long lifespans, with only a select few capable of transforming into a classic draconic form, and even then doing so only rarely, an aspect similar to other games in the Fire Emblem series. https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Fire_Emblem_Engage https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/Fire_Emblem_Engage
I didn't realize someone else was making a Fire Emblem thread when I was. Merging would mess up the order of my two-part post, so I'll copy its 4 posts then request some janny delete the other one.
>>1065336 Original post It's time to put the fire on the emblem and have a comfy Fire Emblem thread Which FE are you: >PLAYAN' >WANTAN' >FAPPAN' >LISTENAN' >LOCALIZAN' >MODDAN' FE Waifuposting is also accepted.
>>1065336 >Post 1 Have there been any good FE knockoff/clone games? I haven't paid attention to indie games for a while.
>>1065336 >>1065338 >Post 2 Unicorn Overlord and Symphony of War, if you want a more indie experience. There is also a FE emblem game engine, in the same vein as RPG Maker, but I only know porn games that use that engine.
>>1065336 >>1065338 >Post 3 I heard triangle strategy has decent combat but the story has pretty stereotypical black white grey moral factions.
>>1065339 I do remember a lot of people comparing Unicorn overlord to FE. Personally I don't really see the resemblance. Granted the only FE I have played is the sacred stones.
>>1065360 I remember UO had a legendarily shitty localization just like Fateswakening, so maybe that's where the comparison came from
>>1065380 It is incompetent but not legendarily so. Like the UO translation didn't have a huge chunk of text just removed.
Who do you believe had the best art direction for the series? I'm going with Wada
>>1065405 Since when did Wada Arco do the art for an FE game? I personally love Hidari's work on Shadows of Valentia. He was also the artist for an Atelier game.
>>1065430 I meant Sachiko Wada
Beaten Shadow Dragon and Echoes on hard, now going through the Golden Deer route on Three Houses. Currently preparing to take on chapter 11 and I dunno what classes Lysithea and Manuela should be building towards. I was thinking Mortal Savant and Gremory respectively. Am I fucking myself later down the line if I go this route?
>>1065430 >>1065483 Fire Emblem 7.
>>1065380 For the most part the complaints in the translation is that they used Shakespearean English to translate dialogue that was written in normal-day Japanese, even though Japan has their equivalent of "Shakespearean English". I assume the reason they did it, was because it was a medieval fantasy game, and hey felt it was more appropriate. While not a good localization, it's far from a "legendarily shitty localization", which would include stuff like removing chunks of the dialogue, removing panties, adding current year stuff from Trump to LGBTQ, and so on.
>>1065380 >legendarily shitty localization just like Fateswakening That's massive fucking hyperbole. It has problems, such as overly loquacious English and a few line changes here than there but it is not on the same scale as Fates at all. Fates changed entire characters and deleted entire conversations. There is nothing that egregious in UO. If this is the common conception of the game that's extremely annoying. I'm not saying localization problems shouldn't be called out but the UO conversation is distracting from far worse stuff like like Eyuden Chronicle which has literal attacks on on us in it. If UO's reputation is the same as Fates then we've failed to correctly identify the scale of problems and present them accurately.
>>1080303 Don't forget Fates completely censoring out the skinship mechanic.
Any big gba fire emblem hacks? I'm talking large campaigns, new classes/weapon types, etc. Ones worth putting on a cartridge.
>>1080327 Andaron Saga.
>>1080224 >Shakespearean English Wasn’t even how people talked in his day. It was poetry.
>>1080440 It's not how they talk in UO either. It's not like they use fucking iambic pentameter or lots of mythological references. They just mean "they talk extremely fancy." Kind of like a cliche fantasy novel mixed with a few archaic out of fashion words from time to time.

>>1081617 >UO <fancy THAT'S NOT REAL FANCY TO:LUCT fancy's circles around UO any day of the week.
