So with announcement of Amazon taking over the James Bond series, I'm just curious as to what people's thoughts are on the various 007 video games that have been released over the past 40 years.
In addition, what about all the other spy video games released, both licensed and original. And let's see how long people can last without mentioning Metal Gear nor Splinter Cell. No, this doesn't count.

Thread reminded me I should play perfect dark. I played the demo(xbla) over and over again but never got the full game. Also this isn't a bond game but SIN episodes has this opening theme that sounds like a bond song.
Are there any spy games where the player engages in espionage and aren't adventure games (like pic related)?
>>1073337 I believe CounterSpy and Velvet Assassin would apply

Does Medal of Honor Allied Assault count with the stealth section where you're disguised as a German officer to sabotage some submarines? >>1073341 >Chase the Express This one was more of an "Action B-series flick" game with a NATO soldier against terrorists, was it not?
>>1073347 I was also thinking about allied assault. They should make an entire game just like that segment.
>>1073329 (OP) >>1073333 (checked) I had so much fun with Perfect Dark. I really liked how the difficulty changed the mission objectives too. A shame I never had it in me to clear all the challenges. Those damn missions were insanely difficult towards the end. The 360 sequel was kind of shit. Though I did have fun with the infection mode back when the game still had an active playerbase. So I suppose it wasn't all bad.
>>1073333 >I should play perfect dark May your auspicious digits lead you to an enjoyable playthrough. I recommend trying one of the alternate control schemes (one where you look with the stick) disable auto-aim and cock-shot everybody. Assuming you can't jury-rig a mouse and keyboard on whatever you're playing on. >>1073331 Deus Ex counts as much as MGS, I guess. I remember that Gen 5 Mission Impossible game, and how you had to do a lot more social stealth than the scooty/buttslapping kind. And I guess if "social stealth" makes someone a "spy" than Hitman is also a "spy game."

>>1073347 Yeah, I wasn’t sure if it would fit. I tried thinking of another game but couldn’t recall the name. Turns out it was Velvet Assassin >>1073339 I could only remember the picture showing off her costumes lol.

This was my all time favorite bond game, would spend hours playing by myself in multiplayer with bots. AIMS-20 favorite gun in the game.
>>1073613 Great game, sorry you didn't have more friends/siblings to play it with anon

>>1073613 It makes me remember that there's an original 007 game in the works by IOI, but I didn't hear anything beyond that he's supposed to be a completely original Bond, and the story is set before he gets his 00 digits. I doubt it'll have a multiplayer that was this fun though.
007 on Game Boy is a pretty underrated adventure game. I'm not saying it's the best thing ever, but it's good at what it does. A bit too short and easy, and there's one gambling section that is a bit bullshit, since it's gambling and thus luck based, but I liked it. Of course, Nightfire was the best. I didn't even own it, but me and my friends spent countless hours playing multiplayer, almost always on that one snow level. Massive improvement over Goldeneye.
I'm surprised nobody brought this up yet. This is a pretty fun multiplayer game when it comes t' trolling. Screen watching mandatory. For those who haven't played this game, you're supposed to find 4 objects (and the attache to carry them) hidden somewhere on the map. The trouble comes with the ability to trap the spots where objects would be (in the vein of the comics), with traps being instant kills (also like the comics.) I recently got around to playing the 2005 Xbox reboot/remake, but that one's multiplayer kind of fucking blows compared to the NES. It's harder to engage with the gameloop thanks to the increased freedom of movement and dealing with a third person camera, as well as the level design being more fit for a single player campaign (platforming puzzles and shit to get to the objects/attache cases. if you happened to grab the objects and get fragged, get ready to do that platforming again)
>>1075061 >I'm surprised nobody brought this up yet I did, but the site ate the image for whatever reason. >xbox version It wasn't that great, but it was memorable enough to stick with me. I never knew there was an older version of it though.
>>1075061 I liked the soundtrack.
>>1075061 Heck yeah, the theme for the OG Spy vs. Spy (and one of its remix in particular, forgot which because Youtube and Google are a blight on the act of searching stuff on the internet) are completely embedded in my brain. Wasn't the first Spy vs. Spy game also the very first split-screen title ever created? There were also several spin offs set in like Antarctica and the tropics, but no one seems to ever bring them up. The PS2/XBOX version of the game was honestly one huge leap in quality, though the "main" mode (the one you're supposed to play on with in the story mode and multiplayer, with context sensitive traps and platforming trials) was janky as fuck, items have no balance at all either. Classic mode on the other hand is so fast paced and hectic, really feels like the Commodore game done in 3D. >>1076199 I genuinely applaud the developers' jewry in cutting up Combustible Edison's discography to remove just enough of the vocals from the original to qualify this as an OST. And because of that, for the longest time you could just not find a properly ripped version of the soundtrack, either, since people would upload the music from Combustible Edison instead. I particularly like this one song, though I am sure it's heavily edited in-game. By the way, some mad lads were able to emulate the multiplayer side of the game, could lead to some fun game nights if anyone's up for it.
And of course the audio file does NOT go through. Jesus Christ, update the acceptable codecs and file types already.
>>1076401 YOU WILL HAVE MP3 AND VORBIS AND YOU WILL LIKE IT
>>1073367 i remember a mcdonald's copypaste schlock that also had a power rangers & gadget and the gadgetinis "version"/reskin packaged in other discs
