Colourfags get in here!
This is my first ever drawing of Viv, which I did the other day. This won't mean a lot to anyone else -there's loads of Vivian art out there -but it does to me.
I've been practicing automatic drawing -it's a bit like automatic writing where someone will write stuff on a page without thinking about it -some of it ends up as gibberish, some of it makes sense -and some of it is done as if possessed.
Automatic drawing works in a similar way -but it's not just aimless doodling -you work from the imagination: without thinking too much, start drawing something -anything/nothing in particular -lines and shapes basically -and go with whatever comes out. Some of it will turn out crap (the gibberish), some of it will turn out half-decent. The point is don't think about it -don't plan it or make any judgement about whether it's good or bad etc. You just draw -and draw fast -so you don't have time to think about it -and it becomes automatic. Any drawfags out there who've never tried this -give it a go -don't worry about getting it wrong, you can erase it or tidy it up after -it can also help improve your drawing skills.
Pic is just a pencil drawing -pretty much to scale -took less than 5 minutes. Always wanted to draw Viv but if I'd sat down and said 'Right, I'm going to draw Viv looking up, arms out like an aeroplane, from a top-down perspective' I'd never have done it. Didn't plan it, no thought of perspective or proportion, it just came out. Like I said -this won't mean a lot to anyone else -but Viv turned up automatic -I'm thrilled to bits.
