Onirism is no longer indie Anonymous 10/06/2024 (Sun) 02:02:35 Id: 75763f No. 1023565
Crimson Tales has struck a marketing deal with a recently created publisher named Shoreline Games, made by people who recently worked on vidya like Space Marine II or Subnautica's marketing. CT keeps full control of the dev while SG makes sure the game is marketed properly. Also, the Onirism page in Shoreline Game's website claims the games is set to get its 1.0 release in Q3 2025, but knowing the game's many setbacks and what's left to do, they might not meet the deadline. https://archive.is/7ksT7 Also, here's Blueberry's father, King Strawberry.
(57.12 KB 480x600 bepis.jpg)

King Strawberry looks like the kind of guy that carries a gun on him at all times and isn't afraid to use it, from that image alone.
>>1023599 He's supposed to look like a midget Elvis.
>>1023618 Did you know Elvis owned a ton of guns and would frequently buy guns for his friends?
(2.42 MB 308x267 1437092451741.gif)

>>1023620 >King Strawberry just casually offering Carol a free gun.
>>1023620 No but that's cool, as expected from the King.
So, how long until the bikini costume is removed from the game?
(90.67 KB 1920x1080 emily.jpg)

>>1023645 The marketing deal is supposed to let Crimson Tales keep full control of the development cycle. There shouldn't be any publisher meddling whatsoever, so the removal of any costume would be Crimson Tales' full decision. Also, CT has been, and still is very protective of their project. They did refuse publishing deals years ago (one of them being Microids, a French semi-shovelware company which has the abysmal XIII remake among its titles) because they tried, for instance, to make Emily less busty or calling the first chapter (up until Inferno Valley) a full game they wanted to ship immediately, and I doubt they would remove bikini costumes over lolicons fapping to it (though they extremely disapprove of this).
>>1023647 > There shouldn't be any publisher meddling whatsoever Famous last words.
>>1023565 >Another example of the French's wildly popular past time of surrendering Wew

Hear me out Onirism, but made by Streum On!
>>1023736 I'm firmly of the belief EYE was as fluke. Streum On made two actual 40k games and neither were good. Though reportedly Hired Gun actually sold rather well. Also >studio has existed for 20 years >3 games
>>1023745 >Though reportedly Hired Gun actually sold rather well. That's what having a lot of loyalty to your customers will do for you.
(59.87 KB 640x480 I can't feel my update.jpg)

>>1023745 >I'm firmly of the belief EYE was as fluke You can't even call this a fluke, EYE is so much of a mess, it manages to be awesome and terrible at the same time when you play it. EYE is fun to learn, play, and meme about, but it's just almost impossible to "get". Hired gun was OK, but not great. It's like Streum On is only able to achieve whatever the fuck they are made for by being completely "mentally disorganized".
Will we get Onirism 2 with more budget?
>>1023768 Who knows what the devs are going to do with Onirism after it comes out. DLC? Multiplayer updates?
>>1023657 >France 2024 No need to be butthurt, Frog. And not even a burger, but nice try.
(25.07 KB 512x501 grilled cheese.jpg)

>>1023777 >And not even a burger Apologies, you did sound like you were still mad at Chirac saying "no" to invading Iraq, so I assumed too fast.
>>1023782 And back on the subject. Hope the little publisher deal doesn't result in a hostile takeover or mass resignations. Already sucked the Stray studio did the latter.
>>1023785 > Hope the little publisher deal doesn't result in a hostile takeover or mass resignations. We'll see about a hostile takover, but the project was almost litteraly five Parisians in a shed before the deal. Now it's five Parisians and some newfound publisher with two small games about to be released next year before Onirism.
>>1023787 Sounds like they'll get swallowed up. But we'll see. Already seen too many studios dying for the past year. One the biggest one was Free Radical being revived by THQ Nordic only to be killed again since their little Saudi deal didn't materialize. RIP Timesplitters.
>>1023797 Let's hope Crimson Tales read the fine lines before signing the contract. At least these publishers aren't betting with money they didn't get yet like Embracer.
>>1023777 Europe really doesn't have much right to mock the burgers after this shit.
But will there be official pantsu?
>>1023871 The philosophies ruining the west are all European anyway. Obviously Marx and Soviet shit, but a lot of it is Foucoult, the most cited academic in history. Fuck France.
(388.06 KB 498x498 nodding.gif)

>>1023649 This. External pressures have their way especially with financial leverage. Never believe the "full control" lie.
>>1023893 >The philosophies ruining the west are all European You're the ones practising then right now, we're just a fucking USA colony.

I thought the /vb/ thread (where that OP comes from) would have more porn than it already has, considering the other threads, but it talks more about the vidya. That's nice. Btw, why creating another thread if there was one already?
>>1024299 It's a good game. That makes it easy to talk about. 38ae101d
>>1023922 Knowing that it's a newly created publisher, pulling that kind of stunt right at the start would give them a bad reputation, something you can't really afford unless you're a giant with tons of brainless followers like Activision. But hey, "the people are retarded".
>>1024340 That's a decent reasoning but they could also simply fuck up because they're new at this, it's not very hard to badly fuck up being a publisher, see Iceberg Interactive (forced release on devs for some way undercooked early access stuff), Rising Star Games (Priced games way too high for their own good and refused to reduce prices when asked by devs, to the point where some devs went back to indie just for that, best example being EARTH DAWN / EARTH WARS which was 30 on PC from Rising Star Games but 4 bucks on switch as a self published game), Dangen entertainment (really badly fucked up paying devs at some point, fixed their mistakes after insane backlash came their way, granted the backlash came real quick so maybe it wasn't a scheme just a regular old fuckup), Pqube ("We're not gonna censor anything" proceeds to censor shit like everyone else), Playism (overextended thinking they could sustain their own storefront), Nyu Media (mishandled the funds for a kickstarter on one of their published games), Rockin' Android (one of the top brass was a massive cunt that tried to default on past promises many times, pretty sure some lolcalization as well) etc
>>1024343 >they could also simply fuck up because they're new at this On one hand, that publisher is created by industry veterans, who recently worked on marketing from games like Spess mehreen 2, so it sounds like they know their shit, but on the other, vets can make mistakes too, and they are not safe from a blunder or just a run of bad luck.
>>1024299 >I thought the /vb/ thread (where that OP comes from) would have more porn than it already has, considering the other threads /vb/ didn't really have a ton of active porn threads for awhile. Something changed in the last month or so. Seems like there was a little surge of halfchan refugees who think that the main way to discuss/meme about vidya is to post porn. >why creating another thread if there was one already? OP must have thought it was big enough news for its own thread here on /v/.
>another "indie" gets a publisher There has never been a single time in the history of video games where this has led to anything other than things getting worse and the creators actively pushed away from their consumer base. Rest in peace Onirism, and thanks for contributing to the further delegitimization of "indie" development relagating it to nothing more than a stepping stone so you can get bought out or "make a deal" with a publisher

>>1041750 I still wonder why people still use cuckchan. It's inferior to most other imageboards in every way. To get back on topic, I absolutely love how the shotguns get the love they deserve. >>1041774 Style over graphical fidelity, I'd feel.
(30.07 MB 854x480 arena_win_part1_.webm)

Best part about onirism is its a legit old school shooter for the 2000s. There's no hand holding, environments are large and doesn't push you towards objectives, exploration rewards with bigger guns, movements is fluid like butter with no ads slow downs or "weighted feel" to movement. I haven't played for 2 years but even back then it was more fun than any 3rd person shooter in last 5 years. Last I heard they added serious sam enemies.
>>1041766 >>1041774 >>1041946 Aesthetics make the art. Onirism has good aesthetics, and good aesthetics make some sixth generation games look nicer than 2024 games. Graphical fidelity's less important than good aesthetics. Fidelity's better than infidelity, but overhyped by (((NVIDIA and AMD))) to sell overpriced graphics cards to consumer sheep who brag about "better graphics" on their Triple Gay fecal matter while having no fun.
>>1041750 Did you make this pic?

>>1042898 On /v/, where vidya discussion is srs bzns, lewds must be spoilered and be posted in moderation. A single spoilered lewd post with 3 or 4 images once in a while won't hurt, but more in a row might be considered a porn dump. /vb/, being the vidya shitpost zone, is a bit more loose when it comes to this. There are whole HMOFA and Robot lewd threads already, and spoilering lewd is more as a form of politeness, especially if you post about an extreme fetish.
>>>1042894 What's the lewds policy here. Spoiler images with pink bits and possibly butt cracks if they are lewd ones and not humerus ones. Otherwise everything's fair game. >>>/vb/ you can post unspoilered.
>>1042898 Loli cunny or loli having sex is ok, as long as you spoiler it, same with most NSFW, it's ok as long as you spoiler it. Actual CP post or links to CP will get you banned. >>1042905 >A single spoilered lewd post with 3 or 4 images once in a while won't hurt, but more in a row might be considered a porn dump. A lot of it would depend on whether you were posting your own art or reposting from your porn collection. If an artist went hypo-manic and cranked out 40 lewds in one night and posted them all it probably wouldn't get treated as a porn dump unless it was otherwise somehow disruptive.
>>1042905 >>1042908 I think it also depends on the thread, it's one thing to post dozens of porn pics in the Waifu or Zelink threads, as long as they are relevant, and another to post in the Stalker 2 or Warhammer thread. A few here and there are ok such as >>1034639 and >>1034642 but not an entire thread, since the topic is the discussion of the game.

Okay first impressions - the game is VERY beautiful. Artstyle is very pretty and tastefully crafted. Its not a color vomit and the bright flowers and rainbow palette is used with a purpose. Environments and textures are like something nintendo or PS2 era games would have, child-like but not an excuse for immature slop. This game will age beautifully even after years
>>1043489 It feels like a completely overhauled shooting game. The action parts are REALLY tense and fast paced, especially on higher difficulty. You can jump, dive, slide, roll, and shoot through all these positions. Like the game wants you to be flashy and deadly. And best of all theres nothing stopping you from jumping around, there's no invisible walls, narrow corridors, platforms that only want you to go from one direction. I didn't expect this from a "children's game", you'd assume this is a 3rd person adventure platformer with occasional enemy to dodge and kill, but its definitely a shooter first and adventure game later. I don't think there's indie game standard fetch quests with quirky characters to pad game time here. Just go there and kill everyone, mission complete. I'll post some videos too
(4.24 MB 960x540 MagicalLand.webm)

>>1043489 Yes, the art direction is pretty spectacular. >>1043500 It is rather action-oriented for a kids' game. One may even say that it isn't really a kids' game at all, just a shooter with the aesthetics of a child's imagination.
>>1043505 *gasp* Carol? W-what are you doing there?
>>1043505 why is the gamma all fucked up?
>>1043505 >One may even say that it isn't really a kids' game at all, just a shooter with the aesthetics of a child's imagination I tend to say it's a children's game designed for 30‐year‐old adults, who spent their childhood playing Ratchet and clank, Serious Sam, Painkiller, Max Payne and/or Total Overdose, but is also a bit tired of blood and guts flying around (but big tiddy monstergirls can stay, it's fine)
(12.76 MB 1280x720 first fight.webm)

>>1043500 This is the first fight in the game. There's melee attacks as default and holding right click will activate guns, like most 3rd person shooters. Im glad theres a melee attack by default because as you can see, enemies can walk upto you from any direction. If this was any other TPS, I'd have to first press right click, walk backwards and aim towards the enemy, and then shoot it, all the while Im panicking and confused how the fuck a slime appeared right beside me. So having this melee weapon as a "OH FUCK" default option is a nice touch. Other modern games should learn from this - your primary attack button should do an attack at all times.
>>1043522 >>1043505 Oh yeah, this is far more technically polished than other indie games that I've seen. I guess that's 5+ years in early access for you
(23.51 MB 960x540 Onirism FPS.webm)

>>1043531 Not to mention that the game is really big, even in its unfinished state. The current version of the campaign goes for 20 hours already, and then you have the extra modes like a CoD Zombies ripoff (vid related). It's insane how much stuff they added over the years.

>>1041582 Why the hell would you use cuck/v/ after 2014?
>>1042906 >and possibly butt cracks Nigger, where the hell did you get this made up rule?
>>1043690 I'm not him, but judging from the few screenshots of cuckchan's catalog I've seen, it's merely because of the population. The crowd brings engagement, which explains all the baitposts and low-quality threads, they are tailor-made for replies.
Im in the first hub area of the game, there's a densely packed forest and plenty of areas to explore. There's a treehouse thing nearby which was occupied by enemies. I climbed up and found a fairy wand, a sort of slow firing high damage weapon. If this is the kind of exploration-reward standard in the game then it works even works even without a minimap. Just jumped around, kill enemies to lead you onto a chest full of goodies. Should I explore more of this area or go to a large door I see off to the distance?
Did the game running like shit on Proton ever get fixed?
>>1043792 The large door leads to the village, and it's where you should go to progress. More bonuses are scattered around the zone, but you'll need to progress in the story first, as you need some movement and laser dryer upgrades to get them all.
>>1043792 Onirism has a Nintendo look and mood, colorful and competent fantasy aesthetics without AAA budget polygon counts
>>1043801 It runs fine for me, 90+ fps at max settings. Though I had to disable my window manager's compositing because I was getting stutters.
Wish someone had this without the caption.
For the undecided, time for some holiday fun at a great price.
>>1044345 >buying a game I'm kidding a bit, as the game is definitely worth the price, but I honestly recommend torrenting it first to see if you can tolerate the jank first.
>>1044347 I won't argue with that. However, am I really so used to janky games that I think Onirism is very polished? I mean... I've seen AAA games in much worse condition. New releases even.
>>1044347 The only jank that can stop me from playing a game is something like bubsy 3d or reboot on the ps1.
>>1044349 >However, am I really so used to janky games that I think Onirism is very polished? >I mean... I've seen AAA games in much worse condition. New releases even. Spent 6 hours with game Good >cute MC >movement is fun >melee is fun >once you get decent weapons, the shooting feels great >game makes good use of dream world setting to avoid needing to have anything make any sense >the actual levels do a great job of keeping you facing forward without relying on a map On the bad side, there's a lot of otherwise minor things that shouldn't still be around after its been in early access this long >you get a bad first impression of guns compared to melee since most of the ones before the shop are incredibly ammo inefficient and/or short range >also you don't get a chance to rearrange your weapons into a sensible order and are stuck with the order you find them in till this >it's very easy to get lost in the open area before the village since you don't have a compass and lack any central landmark or large overlook to get bearings <the player's momentum isn't properly canceled when checkpoints are activated or dialog starts, most of the time this is just jank, but I actually died to dialog box opening and having a conversation in lava before dying as soon as it was over (right after a checkpoint, but still jank) <I don't see any kind of in-game checklist to keep track of which collectibles I've found <sometimes sent into super spin when entering aim for bazooka <enemy density in the arenas and lack of post-hit i-frames means you can often die instantly if two+ enemies decide to attack at once (this is only an issue in the arenas) <health restores after the player dies (either from regen elixir or landing on pickup after death) which doesn't do anything but looks sloppy <being Unity, it takes way too much horsepower to run for the graphics level <and it goes into thousands of FPS before it gets to main menu and FPS cap activates so I had to libstrangle it <no way to know what a weapon/item actually does before buying it (you can save first and reload from checkpoint, but that's jank) <went to take a break from the game and when I loaded my savefile my elixir and items were gone Other >first boss didn't even get a chance to attack because I found the bazooka earlier and just shot her repeatedly >I wonder if this line is supposed to imply something about her waking life (workaholic parents give her lots of toys but little personal attention?) Feels a nice 4/5. All the issues are fixable, though its been so long I can't say for sure they will. >>1043522 The game really seems like it was deliberately trying to be go for a T/12 rating despite the protagonist >NPC says hell (may be translation's fault) >girl's exposed ribcage in the Halloween event >the injuries on the health bar are likely too much for E10/PEGI 7 >>1045398 Really? The fire's length feels way too variable for the player's actions to have no impact on duration.

Im back Holy crap the guy crying about av1 wasn't kidding, look at the video quality. I have explored a big portion of the map but some areas seem to be inaccessible without a double jump ability. I followed the open path and came across a waterfall cave temple. This part shows the beautiful art direction of the game, its natural, worn out, fantasy land but still backed on real architecture. Its quite refreshing to see such magical lands from early 2000s. I wonder why this game isn't more popular with female/teen audience. They need to market harder. The temple itself is a platforming zone with a simple valve puzzle to bring the water up. I also found a fucking bazooka.

>>1046192 Th end of temple has a glorious wave fight with lots of pathways and even jump pads to upper floor. This is the hardest fight I had till now, my bazooka had my back but then I got stuck in map's geometry. Early Access games, amiright? Betweem the suicide bombers, bipedal fish, and standard doll enemies you can have full use of your collected arsenal here. Plus the charged melee hit is busted as it takes even medium health enemies down to <40% of the health pool. After a few tries I won the fight and fell down to a place called Emily's Brewery

>>1046202 Emily's brewery is my first "dungeon" encounter. A spider infested place filled by copper brew tanks and pipes. Im assuming that emily herself is a spider. This is my first time encountering an ugly area in contrast to a visually beautiful game. Whatever material they used to make these copper pipes are too shiny and brown, it sticks out sorely from the dark purple environment. Its especially jarring while playing in a dark room. The game also gives a random popup hint that you can jump higher if you slide and then jump, in this place of all places. After all the jump locations I had given up thinking that I need a double jump ability to scale them, turns out you had it all along. This popup should be near the beginning of the game, not 3 hours in. And even after hopping to a spot that couldn't be climbed otherwise, turns out i can't climb ladders either. So its a mistake to even give this ability without also having the ability to climb ladders. (As it turns out after the boss fight). This is a mistake that devs should fix before release. Anyways the orc enemies are being headcrab controlled by spiders. No way to save them except killing the source. The end of the level has a boss fight against Emily, the spider mom. If she's a half-human half-spider, why are her children all-spider? And holy moly those tiddies!! Good thing this is a french game, not a french-canadian one otherwise she would be a ugly fat black sassy character. This boss fight was underwhelming, because I had a fucking bazooka that killed her in 5 shots. I should do it again with normal weapons

Then there's he reason why you get that ability - the entire facility is about to explode and you have to escape quickly. France has a relatively sizeable presence in the vidya industry, you have game studios like Asobo Studio (A Plague Tale), Arkane (Dishonored), StreumOn Studio (EYE Divine Cybermancy), Amplitude (The "Endless" game series), Motion Twin (Dead Cells), Ankama (Dofus and Wakfu), Quantic Dream (Press X to Jason) and Dontnod Entertainment (STUPID GUN), among others. The arena battles are the real boss fights. Speaking of the many updates, I was surprised that there was a new area inserted between the volcano and the jungle. The fact that newer areas have no VA work makes it jarring to have new zones inserted between old ones. Even with the mounts or scooter, that new area felt excessively big and empty. The bionicle enemies were neat though; I don't remember those existing last time I played.
Is there a way to see the description of weapons after they're no longer in the store (i.e., after you've found or bought them)? >>1046358 If the Volcano is the low point, this game is going to get even more crazy awesome. The boss was really only bad because the first boss taught the player bosses were "shoot it till it dies" but this one was one that does an attack cycle then exposes its weak point briefly and doesn't clearly communicate its that kind of boss. Then again I had the sniper rifle (which doesn't actually have a zoom function?) so I was able to do maximum damage during that brief period of time. I personally didn't find the bridge that annoying except the small gaps because you can't tell what's solid. I had more issues with the run towards the camera stages because the laser fences had oddly high vertical hitboxes for a 1HKO.

>>1046677 >The boss was really only bad because the first boss taught the player bosses were "shoot it till it dies" but this one was one that does an attack cycle then exposes its weak point briefly and doesn't clearly communicate its that kind of boss. No, Agni is fucking bad because after giving you a very mobile moveset and around twenty firearms, the game now has you fighting a boss in a tiny circle arena where pressing the dodge button can easily throw you into lava, Agni's fire attacks can be avoided by just standing away from him while the other attacks are just about running normally and jumping, and after avoiding a whole minute of very unimpressive attacks, you now only get to shoot it once, that will take a third of its life no matter the gun, so your whole arsenal loses its meaning during the fight, which means you have to do it three times. He's a boss that you win by barely using what Onirism just offered you instead of being a boss that pushes you to apply what you learned to progress. That's why he's shit.
>>1046687 >damage is fixed Oh, that's lame.

I went back to chroma falls to explore what others places I can reach now that I have ability to climb. I realized how well the colors in this area is laid out, to easily distinguish places. Theres a yellow zone with towers and windmills, green for smaller houses and treetops, red for the village etc. I took a detour and found a portal that took me to a mini zone where flowers are platforms. Had a little fun there. I found that being in stealth (crouch) mode made enemies simply ignore you. It a rudimentary implementation, and I haven't got into a scenario where sneaking from enemy is a better alternative to guns. Stealth truly is optional in the game. Sniper Rifle is seriously the best weapon in game, high damage, pinpoint accuracy, can zoom. Got a dreamstone at the end of that.
>>1047949 >It a rudimentary implementation, and I haven't got into a scenario where sneaking from enemy is a better alternative to guns. There is only like 5 minutes of mandatory stealth out of the ~20 hours of gameplay. You could play the game up until that part and you wouldn't notice it existed.

Made it to fire biome. This one has much better visuals than the brewery, as the soft red and bright lava are tastefully used. Bloom could be an issue, as red skinned enemies almost appear glowing. New enemies are fine, there are small hell puppies, a fire priest that shoots fireball, fire golem type enemies that act a minibosses, but by far the biggest pain in the ass are the foxes with flamethrower, that apply fire damage over time and fucking never puts out. I died countless times to them alone, and no one else. They should have less damage, they shouldn't be the main threat of this zone. Instead, that should be these hell knights with sexy clothes. They spawn along with two hell dogs and are visually the most varied enemy. However they do pitiful damage and are easily dodged. I wouldn't mind her having a fire-lingering effect, making her a miniboss like the golems. I don't know if its a placebo effect but it seems water based weapons does more damage to them. Cool. I made to another portal where I had to run backwards to escape an oncoming lava wave, avoiding all the pitfalls and sweeping flames to reach the end. Its a fun segment that is directly inspired by older platform games, I first encountered such thing in Tarzan 1999. I wonder whats the first game with such level? Onirism isn't that tight of a platformer to begin with, but when you have a whole segment about carefully jumping tiny wooden planks over certain death, AND add flames and rocks pelting over you, AND enemies that spawn infront of your eyes - it was a lethargic segment with frequent deaths. But fortunately I lived! And got the dreamstone at the end and fucked off from there. >>1048681 After climbing over some platforms I managed to get to the boss fight. And yeah it was pretty underwhelming. Agni looks menacing and wild but its slow and ha like 4 moves across its 2 heads, one is a fire spewing head and another is explosive fire spewing one. There are both easily dodgable, and worst part is they no hitbox outside a small glowing pink one on its body that appears only after those two heads do their attack sequence. So its 3 mins of dodge incoming attacks and 5 secs of actually harming the enemy. Rinse and repeat. Carol once again shows she doesn't know anything, nor has any desire to solve the denizen's problems or even care about them. Just wants her bunbun and casually commits genocide on her way. After beating the boss in 3 sniper hits, I got the upgrade that gives me a charged default pistol shot. A plot convenience to give an objective objective. It is a bit cheap though, there should be other ways to give the level some logic, other than "you need red keycard to further progress". But because of some quirk in how the game handles your momentum and the scooter's speed, instead of just flinging you up, it flings you both forward and up at incredible velocity. I got thrown literally halfway across the map, bouncing off a windmill's blade partway through my flight.
Come to think of it: Why do works of fiction starring 10 year old characters so vastly outnumber those starring 9 or 11 year olds (especially when only considering age at debut)?
>>1048721 >Don't forget to open up the castle, Anon. Even though this was directed at the summary anon, I went back to look for the keys too since you mentioned it. I got two of the four, and I've found a third, but I died to the arena and don't have time to re-try it tonight. I found a neat gun called the Widow's Tear, that has a potent poison effect that stunlocks those guys that shoot the tracking green orbs. The trouble is, in that arena those guys are too high up and it puts them out of that gun's range. It's a real pain to fight enemies in positions like that, or the harpies too, when the third-person perspective limits how high an angle you can aim at. That arena also didn't really have any mobility features, which was annoying. No portals, no bounce pads, no swing bars.
>>1048863 >Widow's Tear Wait, where did you get that in the meadows? I never even heard of that gun.
>>1048859 Any younger and they're too small and limited mobility wise, any older and they're teenagers basically.
>>1048864 I think that's what it was called. I might be misremembering. It was hidden inside a wine vat. When you go along the paved road after you get the cutscene with the mounts, then you eventually get to a path up to the Corporation facility, with a checkpoint and an ammo machine at that road fork. Across the road from that is a vineyard. One of the vats has a handle you can turn to drain it.
>>1048864 >>1048872 Ah, I was misremembering the name. I found it mentioned in the patch notes: Widow's Kiss, not Widow's Tear.

>>1048875 Got the gun. I realized it's Emily-themed, with the dark purple color and her sigil on the gun's side. It's pretty good for 1v1 with the stunlock ability.
>>1044357 >pic Having just reached the minigun bridge, I can confirm that the real treasure is in fact the gun I found along the way. Or at least, I thought it was until the frorcs offered me their artifact and urged me to spread peace through ultraviolence. I haven't gotten in yet but I think that's going to turn out to be the real treasure. Also, that nightmare area was great. Despite being disparate elements, the flesh and teeth, the jellyfish things, and the Geiger counter clicking combined well and all added up to an area that set me on edge, especially because there were no enemies.
>>1046687 Agni's design is bad and the fight is boring, but having just done the Atlas fight, that thing is so broken and janky that it's definitely the worse boss. The jump pads just don't work properly, even when the leg is stationary. You get thrown in every random direction except the one you need to go, then you get stuck, jitter around, and phase through a wall.

I've reached Glacier and feel my weapon loadout has been stagnant. Any recommendations (especially for items)? >sniper rifle for when I get chance to use it and the odd use for single hit high damage no-scope >bazooka for taking out high HP enemies and using splash damage to kill shielded/mass foed >rustic boomstick because it one hit kills most common enemies at reasonable ranges, 2HKOs most anything else that isn't a fatty, and I can quick swap alternating it and bazooka for lots of damage on fatties >tacticooler for when I need rapid firepower Rest of slots I don't really have strong preferences on.
>>1049277 I can't keep track of all the guns, there are so many. I do know there are several guns I often go back to: >Starhawk .50: pinpoint accuracy, 30 damage, can stunlock. Basically a pocket, scopeless, rapid-fire sniper rifle disguised as a Deagle for mid-range, has a 7-shot mag. >Big Boomstick: Spreads like a lesbian in front of a male millionaire, but can one-shot even mid-tiers if you stick the barrels right up their nose. >Dragon: Halo assault rifle. I prefer it over the Wyvern. Full auto, good DPS for a rifle, low recoil. >Peace bringer R33: M16 with a M203 launcher, uncharged shot fires a 3-round burst, charged shot is a grenade. >Hotkiss Bonet Merci: WW1 water LMG. Has a low mag for an automatic, but the shots are powerful. Sounds more like a gun than a toy. >Heavy Machine Gun: Is given for free at a certain point. Absolute shit fucker of an M60, but mind the ammo. >Mimigun: If you reached the Glacier, you know. >Flash-4: 4-brust napalm RL. For when you really don't want to see that tank. >Splash-12: bit of a mixed bag. Spread's a bit wide, but is full-auto at around 2 shots a second. Good for CQB. When juiced on accuracy elixir, it's mint. >Gamma Ray: The ray gun from Duke Nukem's PS1 Platformer games. Locks into the nearest enemy, 1v1s are barely a fight. >Devastatron: Dookie's PS1 game's bazooka. Auto RL. Lacks accuracy, but spits rockets fast. >Hot Fuzz: Dragon's breath shotgun. Does almost the damage of a big boomstick for the speed of a pump shotgun, but eats through explosive ammo. >Jackhammer: SCAR-L with explosive ammo, stunlock machine. Relegates any enemy into a joke during 1v1s, but falls short against groups due to its limited mag. >Windowmaker: Gatling shotgun. Too OP for general use, chews through ammo, but revving it up to full speed and wiping out a zombie horde on Tales or a High-tier enemy on story mode feels better than sex. >Aquomando and Hurricane-90: I put both in the same category because they are somewhat the same. Aquo is a very great starting SMG, but falls short due to its low damage. H-90 is a bit more beefed-up, but has a mag. There's a lot more guns in game, in the shops in secret chests or locked in Tales mode. There are apparently more guns in Onirism than there are in Payday 2 with all the DLCs, minus the melee weapons, so there's a lot to cover.

>>1051418 >What other maps has this game shamelessly been inspired by? There is TranZit in the Tales mode (Middle School of the Dead), the dam section in story mode is a direct Goldeneye reference, the Battle for Glalhalla is a Star Wars Battlefront section, the Serious Sam references are obvious, one of the costumes is a pink Praetor armor from DooD 2016, you also have CastleVania references in Catastrophe of the Moon. Some sections in the story mode are direct references like the "Parasol" laser room in the greenhouse, and there is even a Slimy Beach 2 poster in Ben's Shop, referencing Illusion's Sexy Beach 2 eroge. >Which one was that? >>1051427 I meant arcade maps, >Middle School of the Dead That reminds me: Isn't Carol a little young for middle school? From my searching even in France that starts at 11. >adults around her are always too busy for her >smart enough to skip at least one grade >still dependent upon a plushie to sleep >hates bullies yet very violence prone >really hates anyone but her mother yelling at her >considers flare gun (which appears to be an actual flare gun and not just imagination powered) a "toy" and is warned (or already knows? Not sure who the "speaker" for the item descriptions is.) not to point it at people Every little detail of Carol's waking you can gleen from dialog establishes her as a complete mess and it's fun.
>>1051444 >That reminds me: Isn't Carol a little young for middle school? From my searching even in France that starts at 11. Not necessarily, usually children are sent to primary school at the age of 6 and middle school at the age of 11, but it matters when the child turns 6. If he become 6 in one of the summer months, as in during summer break, then it's easy, the child becomes 6, and immediately is sent to school, but what happens if he turns 6 in February? Well either he is sent much earlier and starts primary school at the age of 5, and middle school at the age of 10, or is sent later and starts primary school at the age of 6 but will turn 7 during the middle of school year. Perhaps Carol's parents didn't think it was a problem if she started school a bit earlier, of course this all hinges on when her birthday even is.
>>1051446 I see. Her parents push her to cram while never having time for her, and her being the youngest (and thus smallest) kid around would ultimately has roughly the same implications.

>>1051749 A very few, but 90% of what you see is Vanilla.
Am I supposed to know who the panda and the blueberry are by the time I reach the Viking village? They weren't formally introduced like the puppet general was, and Meng seemed to already know me. Then after the planning cutscene, the ordinary puppets are interactable but those two aren't. Seems odd to just drop characters in without context like that. Have the devs said anything about a timeline for continuing the voice acting? The covid lockdowns they originally cited as the reason it halted are no longer an issue, obviously.
>>1051856 Meng was supposed to have a cinematic during the Chroma falls.but it has yet to be added. Blueberry has his cinematic after a certain point at the Borealis sea. To reduce costs, they would complete the rest of the voice acting in one swoop instead of having to rent a studio several times.
Am I missing something with the prison break? Drills take forever to drill through a single cell and the enemies don't stop coming into the tiny room with no cover and few refreshments.
>>1051977 >To reduce costs, they would complete the rest of the voice acting in one swoop instead of having to rent a studio several times. Makes sense. >>1052623 I opened the thread to ask the same question. On my first attempt I couldn't get a drill to work at all and restarted think it was bugged. On the second run I did managed to get one Narr out (to stand in the way of half my shots), but I died to attrition. I don't know how or even when I actually got through his cell wall. The drills are really damn finicky and slow when they do work, a stealth approach seems to be impossible because the stealth meter always gradually fills even if you're not in view of the cameras (which are indestructible, unlike the dam stealth segment), and the enemies seem to be infinite. It's a pain in the ass. I did the oil rig first and that went a lot better. Almost too well, since the enemies couldn't respond very well to some of the terrain you can reach. But on the bright side it's pretty fun to run around with an AoE weapon like the XPML SonicBoom and blow up all the operatives at once as they're rappelling in from the helicopters. That weapon was my MPV for that fight, especially since there's bastards with shields and others with invisibility. That area also gave me a scoped version of the Dragon, which is welcome. The ship was annoying, but not as much as the jail. You can't see shit, you move very slowly, and aside from the scavenger hunt for the keys you also need to hunt for which unmarked doors each key can open. At least I got a few interesting weapons there too (the Huntresses, and the Hornet).
>>1052629 >blow up all the operatives at once as they're rappelling in from the helicopters. I was very dissapointed I could not destroy the transports. Odd since they even had animations for it in the escape segment (though they seem to be bugged and only play if you use foot weapons).
>>1052632 Yeah, that really was a shame. It was the first thing I tried as I saw them coming in. That aside, I looked for a video of the jailbreak, since I wanted to see the drills actually work. This one is a walkthrough including secrets and pickups, so he does every cell. It takes him fifteen minutes of nonstop fighting the endless reinforcements to open them all, which is an absolutely retarded amount of time. It's completely inconsistent how long each wall takes too. https://youtu.be/5SgA16JtwHg
>>1052623 The drills are very finnicky, you have to make sure the tip touches the glass, or it won't drill. Don't forget that you can carry and place two drills at the same time.
>>1049241 nah, the game will most likely be picked up by tumblr hello kitty types due to its cute colorful aesthetics and put retarded headcannon with self-inserts

>>1052731 Already cleared it. The secret is use the train. Most of the enemies can't hit you on top at all, most of those that can struggle if you're prone on the train, and the rest can be guarded. Only the penultimate level and last boss are exempt from this, and those are mainly keep moving. It helps to have weapons that hit through walls so you can use the train as cover. Also there's some more costumes hidden around the rest area between levels.

>>1052751 Oh no, it is one of the official ones. Even has a helmet or no helmet option. It's late in the 9th of the 11 implemented worlds.
I've found a way to cheese the prison break: Get a turret gadget. Throw it against the cell wall, mount it, turn it around so your back is against the wall (and maybe aim up), then unmount it. You're now in the cell. You can get out by mounting the turret again (so no drilling for the non-prisoner rooms) or by drilling from the inside.
