So every gAAAy dev is having a meltdown over Baldur's Gate 3 and the fact it "overdelivered", the biggest irony is that BG3 isn't really a Baldur's Gate game and due to using 5e ends up being less complex then older CRPGs. But what I'll give BG3 that despite the massive pozz, they give you a full game with the price you pay them, but that was the fucking standard back 15 years ago.

Wait wait does chart fag not understand that many japs especially those who play on PC, have a large library of western CRPGs and other western games? The mangaka of Dungeon Meshi is a huge Western CRPG autist and her love of Baldur's Gate and Arcanum, is very well known. The point of the chart was to be some sort of middle ground to inform Nip developers that, if they actually want to take influence from the best the West has to offer, take it from actually good games rather than pozzed trash. I've been playing a lot of Ys lately - and while I really liked Lacrimosa of Dana, The Oath/Ark/Origins games are far and away my favorites because the moment to moment gameplay is fantastic and they only last about 10 hours. It's nice that games offer so much more value for the dollar compared to other forms of entertainment media, but they also really need to learn the value of brevity. Make games that people WANT to (re)play for 60+ hours because they're fun, rather than just load them down with 60+ hours of checklist busywork and storybeats to pad out 60+ hours on a game the player will never touch again.
