Mecha Thread Anonymous 08/03/2024 (Sat) 23:18:11 Id: 6fe757 No. 997351
This month it will have been one year since the last thread. Any decent upcoming Mecha Geimus anon? Also, r8 my AC
>>1155913 >Anyone who dismisses 6 as "not real AC" but isn't spittle-flecking mad over the changes made in 4 or 5 is just a poser I played at least one entry in entry but 2; the jump in speed and being able to really feel like you're flying around the skies of the stage, was fun. I had fun with 5 even though it changed the speed again but added skidding down buildings which I hoped they did something more with, and a spike in difficulty from newer weapons being harder to get or whatever, forcing me to resort to guerilla warfare and instilling a strong sense in accomplishment when taking out multiple ACs with the lackluster equipment, made me happy (until I found out the shop was always online, which made me beyond pissed off). 6 on the other hand, pisses me off; they even gave it big ass open areas and instead of putting in broken equipment to find like old games, it's just the usual souls lore notes, the mechs are an afterthought for the giant machines that were peppered in the old games that felt like a change of pace so things wouldn't run together, they butchered the laser blade and put the machine gun on the same arm as it which obliterated my go to, and it makes me feel uninterested in changing parts of my AC. Its lack of an opening CG mecha fight should've been the biggest warning of all. DaemonXMachina has its issues like the giant enemies feeling overused too, feeling tiny, the shop just being weapons you built in the factory, and the pilot stuff feeling tacked on but it's the closest thing I know of to an honest Armored Core.
>>1177270 I've got it on my wishlist and am waiting for a sale. I never buy games off sale.

>>1155241 I have 50,000 hours in this series, extensively dabbled in romhacking of the PS2 Ac games to enable joystick usage in early gens, and even bought the limited time PSP portable ports. Armored Core 6 has every right to be called an AC game. It's a hell of a lot better than the trash that was the fourth gen or the fifth gen. >bro muh gotta go fast lightning speed mechs that destroy online latency >muh tacticool fat midget robots that can't even fly upward and need to kick buildings just to ascend vertically
I don't play mechs games and armored core 6 is a video game.
I played all of the PS1 and PS2 armored core games on emulators a couple years ago and I did not purchase Armored Core VI(tm): Fires of Rubicon.
My only real complaint with AC6 is that there's no real music. If there were songs playing for bgm like in the older games, I wouldn't mind it as much. Can't wait for the expansion that'll smooth out of the kinks like in the previous gens.
anyone here played dolls nest?

>>1503680 A friend of mine played it, but I didn't. He said it was a janky mashup of AC and soulshit. He seemed to have enjoyed it from the short time we spoke about it though. >>1503682 >>1503684 What happened?
>>1503704 tried uploading a gif and it failed
(3.65 MB 663x849 ezgif-83de229a4fb4cf.gif)

this one should work
>>1503704 >AC and soulshit Exactly, it felt just like AC6 but with way more of the qualities that you expect in Soulshit. The thing I really didn't like about it is that all the ammo shares the same reserves instead of everything having a set amount of ammo for the weapon to reload. I feel like I'm forgetting something else that bugged me but I haven't touched it in a while and have been playing other shit.
What series are recommended to have watched/read before getting into the SRW series, and where to start?

>>1526291 >What series are recommended to have watched/read before getting into the SRW series You'll die of old age before you finish. I've only ever touched 30 but it seems like the most obvious answer is the series of whoever's your favorite mech/character. How much mecha anime have you watched?

Part of me wishes we could get another proper Custom Robo/Medabots or possibly even a Phantom Crash and Steel Lancer Arena game, as much of a pipe dream as that would be. I know robo-battlers like CR and Medabots aren't technically mecha games, but they're still within the same ballpark and deserve more love, especially with the resurgence of interest in mecha/robot games that AC6 and a number of indie mecha games brought along.
>>1527243 There was a rumor from the Chinese of a Custom Robo game being made by the ARMS team, although in said rumors that was a bunch of stuff that turned out not to be true sadly.
>>1527146 I don't mean all of them, just the most major ones to enjoy a lot of it. I've already watched what will likely be my favorites, aside from maybe the Mazinger series, Muv-Luv, Demonbane (if that even makes an appearance), one of the cooler-looking Gundams, and the Getter Robo stuff I haven't gotten to yet. So far I've watched/read TTGL, Code Geass, OG Macross/Robotech, Robotech, Evangelion, Getter Robo (haven't gotten to the later stuff though), Gunbuster, Diebuster, Bokurano, Aldnoah Zero, and Back Arrow (lmao). I started the OG Gundam a while ago and am like 10-15 episodes in but I took a break and haven't gone back yet.

What do they do with all that EDF money if they're actually just recycling everything? >>1528607 >I don't mean all of them, just the most major ones to enjoy a lot of it Ah, you mean which series is the grand poobah of the specific SRW games they suggest. Isn't that always gundam, unless you're playing for specific series? >Gunbuster I finally got around to watching that about a year ago and now I'm stuck figuring out how people squeezed so much yuri out of nothing. >I started the OG Gundam a while ago and am like 10-15 episodes in but I took a break and haven't gone back yet At the rate they're going, Sunrise supports the Jolly Roger.
I want a mecha game where you actually maintain and tend to the giant robot that you can also ride inside A robot raising sim that you can battle/survive with

(4.57 MB 854x480 Heavy Gear 3 Teaser.webm)

Heavy Gear 3 was announced. They posted a teaser trailer and an FAQ. <What will the gameplay be like? >In structural terms Heavy Gear III is closer to a traditional Action-RPG than the mission-based layout of the previous games, with an explorable main hub and greater focus on the story and setting. The fast-paced combat and deep Gear customization are still around and will be better than ever <When is this coming out? >Not soon. Definitely not before the 30th anniversary of the video game. The HGIII team wants to make sure the game is in the best possible shape before releasing it <Is this the same game as the old canceled Heavy Gear III? >You’re not supposed to know about that one. But no, this is an entirely new game set on Terra Nova and returning to the roots of the franchise. That said, the new game will include features both new and old, including some that were supposed to be introduced in the original plan for III <Is this a direct sequel to Heavy Gear II? >Heavy Gear III tells a new story set during the Interpolar War, before the Black Talons were ever formed. In terms of continuity it’s closer to Heavy Gear I and Storyline Book 2. The story of the game will fill in some of the gaps that were left due to the sudden transition from the Interpolar War to an interstellar plotline <Will the CEF/Black Talons/Caprice/Eden/House Kurita/My great-aunt be in the game? >Heavy Gear III is deliberately focusing on the original setup for Heavy Gear: the Confederated Northern City-States fighting the Allied Southern Territories for control of the Badlands. The emphasis is on exploring Terra Nova and the factions that existed on it in the 1930s, so the other colonies won’t receive any significant focus <Will this game focus on eSports? >Heavy Gear III will not be designed for eSports, blockchain integration, microtransactions, live-service, cryptocurrency, generative AI, or any of the million other buzzwords that people keep promising will be the Next Big Thing. The sole focus of Heavy Gear III is on delivering a high-quality singleplayer game

>>1636442 Yeah I missed that one completely at the time. I definitely hope they can do better with the new dev.

Anyone know of a mecha game with plenty of gore besides Brigador?
You guys playing Daemon X Machina 2? I'm having fun with it
>>1730718 They somehow didn't fuck it up? It honestly looks more like an exosuit game than a mech game. Does the augments still only really fuck up your look and with no way added to ton that down? Is the shop still nothing but weapons you have created through factory RnD? Is running around on foot, still completely worthless?
>>1730718 I haven't tried it. I saw the body type cancer and lost interest. I wasn't that interested to begin with though to be honest.
Nanoha in SRW when? >>1731090 This. Tranny games are never worth your time, let alone money.
>>1731090 >>1731165 They mostly lost me when they jumped in on the price increase scam. >Nanoha in SRW when Speaking of, how'd Bamco half ass Y?
>>1731079 Well it depends what you're looking for. If you want a proper Daemon X Machina 2 then you shouldn't expect it here as this is more of "Anthem but good" kinda game. Either way I'm enjoying it for what it is, but don't go into it expecting an iteration of the first game. >>1731165 It's not a tranny game, it just has a tranny translation which is absolutely an issue that someone needs to fix.
