Their main purpose is to debate, propose and vote laws. Macron cannot "just" dissolve it, you do have some throttles (can't do it the year a dissolution was already done before, some crisis situations...) and even if he can, right after the general elections, it would sound absolutely egregious with the current situation. To summarize it very roughly, the prime minister's main role, or rather, the government he built by appointing the ministers he chooses, is to oversee domestic affairs, while the president handles foreign affairs.
