”to be carbon competitive is to be value created”
“This is where the world is going — I’m not sure how we get there”
This is literally just empty-suite corporate boardroom speak to ensure everyone that their failed policy that was arrived at via lowest common denominator osmosis is totally going to be worth it because that’s what everyone else is going. It’s exactly and without even the slightest deviation precisely the kind of pretend clownworld bullshit that pretends is “leadership”.
I’d love to say it’s just the usual Canadian incompetence; sadly it’s utterly normal, baseline bullshit in charge of the Western world. It’s the overriding politics of the public sector spending regime. They think they can tax business to offset the money printer’s inflation. Taxed right into Asia’s enormous peasant kingdoms. Meanwhile, businesses are busy lying to governments about how many gorgillions of dollars they’re investing in their countries and politicians take it as a sign of success and how their careers are secure, which is why they are told the lies to begin with (it’s a part of doing business). Basically all of politics in the West is filling the public trough and spinning propaganda to keep everyone in line and in the system patiently waiting their turn at the trough.
WE
ARE
FUCKED
There’s no out, there’s no option or mechanism to change it. This IS the REAL end of history. Not a utopia of democracy, but dystopian nightmare of the civilizational barn trough. The new Cosmic Horror isn’t trying to comprehend the incomprehensibly huge, it’s the comprehension of humanity’s own childishness, simple-minded self-serving retardation that’s so petty and sad that all you can do is die helplessly in despair in humanity’s puddle-depth filth. We’re not threatened by Cthulhu, we just can’t climb out of our own anthill.
