XSeed: "Senran Kagura Would not Prosper in the West in This Day and Age" Anonymous 08/13/2024 (Tue) 20:30:17 Id: f3e482 No. 1001039
This really needs its own thread because of how right STUPID this shit is. This is like banning RPGs on the Sega Saturn levels of stupid, all because of retarded twitter/reddit/discord politics. These people can't see outside their little Californian bubble, and it pisses me the fuck off. The console game market is run by people who hate games, that's the only excuse I can think of when explaining this malicious ignorance. It's been proven time and time again that these games sell as long as there's a good gameplay structure. Even with an above average gameplay structure, Stellar Blade selling over a million copies in the past year alone PROVES that now is the best time to release Senran Kagura IN SPITE of gaming journalists and the reddit/twitter/discord grooming audience. Not only that, but the entire mobile market with games like Blue Archive and NIKKE is making millions of dollars in capital. You could make the market that "Oh it's just whales", but I would argue that's not a legitimate excuse when Stellar Blade sells over a million copies and other games like fucking Capes don't even sell close to that. That's not to mention Flintlock that has its numbers inflated by Gamepass only sold half the amount of Stellar Blade with a much bigger marketing campaign. There's no excuse for this level of stupidity, but what can we do about it? Maybe we can contact shareholders and have them communicate our issues through them? There's no excuse for this level of incompetence, although I'd personally argue that it's maliciousness considering everything I've talked about. sauce: https://noisypixel.net/xseed-games-ken-berry-interview/ https://archive.ph/N2zJb

>1 month till 14th anniversary >there will be no new game to celebrate 15th anniversary next year I... I miss my girls
>>1001047 We all do. Fuck XSEED
>>1001039 They must hate money. >climate is changing lmao what a load of horse shit when there's porn games on steam these days.
>>1001056 No one hates money, it's that they shouldn't be in the job to begin with. They're unqualified to work in the video games industry and are just leeching off hardworking people who actually care about this shit.
>a dozen examples of fanservice games making bank >"would not prosper" Jap devs really can't stop shooting themselves in the foot, just make a Mihoyo skinner box ripoff, Senran Kagura was already X-X-X-Y-Y-Y piss-easy beat-em-ups-anyway
(92.37 KB 1069x1049 tired_cat.jpeg)

>7evens never ever.
>>1001063 That's true, especially when you consider that even when seeing the success of Nier Automata, Square Enix decided to bank on NFTs and Life is Strange of all things.
(623.74 KB 1920x1200 531823.jpg)

>>1001067 Licensing 2b for some gacha shit is probably more cost effective than making a new game entirely. This "wouldn't work" excuse is avoiding naming the true problem which is the (non existent) artistic freedom and integrity (there is none)in the industry.
>>1001078 It's bullshit either way.
>>1001063 >just make a Mihoyo skinner box ripoff It already exists. It's called New Link, and it's being carried entirely by Yaegashi Nan's art, which makes it even more baffling why this shit makes money instead of just downloading the jpegs.
(351.02 KB 1114x1457 1629176213539.jpg)

I'm actually curious if people actually play all of these shitty gacha games or not. Really makes ya think.
>>1001099 >playing video games
>>1001113 >gacha shit >video games
>>1001123 They're as vidya as Sony games
>>1001123 I've played a lot up until the point where they annoy me and I stop, and I've gotten less tolerant over time since I can usually see if they're going to put me on a treadmill. World Flipper is the only one I played till the very end, and honestly the fact that the one I enjoyed the most died in a couple years really goes to show how fun and profit are completely at odds with each-other in these games.

(152.47 KB 1280x720 ps4 theme.jpg)

>sony implements their global policy >sony moves their Playstation headquarters from Japan to commiefornia <coincidentally a lot of censorship hits Senran >censor the Asuka Taiyaki PS4 theme where a part of her ass got covered by the wave even though it's not pornographic and the uncensored pic isn't any worse >take away intimacy mode in the PS4 version of Burst Re:Newal, only leaving the PC version uncut >light beam censorship on Bon Appetit >Takaki leaves Marvelous >XSeed & Marvelous cuck out Interesting how it all unfolded and how the vidya industry has indeed changed for the worse. But that doesn't entail Senran Kagura 'Not prospering in this day and age'. If anything, Steller Blade has shown that people want those kinds of games back. The niggers running the companies, however, put too much stock into whatever the trannies and moralfags on the cancerous social media places say when they don't even buy the games anyway even when the company goes out of their way to pandering them! Seems the vidya industry would rather tank themselves than address the (((elephant in the room))) regarding the reason for why Senran Kagura & the like would 'not prosper'.
(366.29 KB 2712x2160 hikage-tpose.jpg)

Could an indie ripoff spiritual successor be possible? It would be great to have more fleshed out gameplay mechanics while still having fanservice.
>>1001094 I guess that's how all mid-level jap "media franchises" die, with a garbage FGO ripoff. Having all these big tiddy loli ninjas in a turn-based RPG is pathetic. At this point the gooks and chinks make better Japanese games than the nips themselves. >>1001099 I play Nikke, Blue Archive, Arknights, and Pokemon Master SEX help me I've never paid though
>>1001158 It's not because they give a fuck about the twitter whiners, it's all because they're being paid by the Larry Fink crowd of the ESG mafia.
(6.56 MB 1280x720 cbnZ3G2YyW2O0Gu5.mp4)

>>1001160 I've seen a few JP indie devs online begin trying their hand on it recently, vid related. @denneko_yugi
>>1001181 Overwatch highlight intros sure are looking a lot different nowadays...
>>1001158 Enter Amazing Seasun. Snowbreak has been the ultimate case study of a random chink gacha trying to pander to Soyny sensibilities, almost shuttering due to "go woke go broke," trying the Senran route to save itself, coincidentally finding itself a monopoly on the fanservice market due to other devs steering clear of it, and fucking blowing up and completely transforming the market to the point the Genshits and Mihomos chimped out and suddenly other mobages are copying its tits and ass strategy. It's not even a case of "the game runs like ass but it looks sexy," the game is universally agreed to have gotten better when it stopped trying to pander to fujos and increased the sex appeal. All the money pouring in even went to a good cause; the Mecha Break playtest just ended and it was well-received as a optimized Unreal >>>/m/ game with more T&A. NIKKE has actually been seeing a decline in revenue because SHIFTUP's self-censorship bit it in its ass amidst the increased competition. It's been theorized the CCP trying to ban daily logins led to a backlash that got the censors of the state fired, and with the lack of tyrannical oversight, devs are free to give the players what everyone wants. Really, the global economic crisis, the credit crunch, the petrodollar demise, and the fallout of the WEF has led to this grand cultural revival, as the dumb bitches and hoes don't pay the bills (and if they want the pozz there are already games that specifically target their own tastes like Love and Deepspace, that's how Asia deals with fujos and yumejos). I can go into a lot more detail like Asian gamers realizing that pandering to female gamers always leads to pozz ("mixed toilet games") but sufficient to say there should be way more eyes on this game for how much it has changed the gaming zeitgeist.

>>1001123 To the unfortunate dismay in all of our lives, gachas are still games, even if they're games I despise with a passion instead of just dismissing like I do VNs.
Social media has too much of an impact on things with being being afraid of backlash. There has been a lot of pushback with people from the #MEtoo movement coming back and stuff like Stellarblade where people are being active with not caring what social media says. It sucks since consoles overall are very censor heavy. Sony is more censor heavy after the whole moving to the US california thing. Nintendo is Nintendo, and the have been more open with the switch than before. Xbox is Xbox. Steam is the biggest thing for PC games, and anything of "questionable age" gets banned. Any other major site usually focuses on actual porn, where lewd but sfw stuff won't do well on. I hope they can figure something out. But it seems like there is an active force trying to kill off the idea of otaku culture. Most things don't even reference it anymore in the west or with Japanese media.
>>1001246 I'm pretty sure Steam got better after the Chaos Head Noah fiasco, but I could be wrong.
>>1001126 >>1001146 >>1001210 Gacha is just pachinko with more input from the player.
>>1001039 Stupid ass niggas don't want the Money Snowbreak is making lmao, and that's not even mentioning Azur Lane. The day Manjuu makes Azur Lane but with 3D models, Senran Kagura Will never revive, for the better or worse, and that's all the guilt of this fucking retarded japs, seeing how the Chinks are getting all that market that was dominated by them some years ago, and doing fuck all to counterattack
>>1001272 Still more gameplay than the average Visual Novel ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anime girls and Gacha are fun and all, but isn't there a Gacha game that is about gameplay and not just cheap anime girls? Or about manly men protecting anime girls.
>>1001282 The problem is if the gameplay is too fun or skill based, then there is little incentive into buying gatcha currency to draw the latest waifu meta student. Something like Warthunder, while not a gatcha, and technically Pay 2 Win, as in there are planes that you can only buy with the premium currency and you can use that premium currency to skip the grind, even in a premium plane you will be shot down by a free to play player that is very skilled at the game. Then you have Diablo Immoral, in which from what I heard, the gameplay is really solid and deserves the name of Diablo, sadly the monetization scheme really drags the game down. >spoiler Technically Blue Archive is all about the male lead protecting his female students from other female students and (((outside forces))). I also heard that NIKKE is very popular with Korean and Japanese female players, because it's a story about a man who doesn't treat women as objects or dogs but as people, and he is considered a weirdo for thinking like that.
>>1001283 Isn't Nikke about robot girls?
>>1001284 From what I heard they were former humans that were converted into robots to fight the aliens. A quick glance at the wiki, it seems like they take the brain of women and put them into the robot bodies, robots that lack human rights and are unable to attack other humans even in self defense.
(168.84 KB 400x578 Curious Elf Whore.jpg)

>>1001286 What do they do with the human bodies, do they dump them off somewhere? >>1001283 >about a man who doesn't treat women as objects or dogs but as people, and he is considered a weirdo for thinking like that. Either this is a Ryona fag's fetish or a sycophant that puts women on a pedestal. I don't get how a setting like this would even function unless they can clone embryos en mass. Considering they can build female bodies with ease to the point where they can accumulate human brains why not just have AI or synthetic brains they can grow in a vat?
>>1001287 I don't know what they do with the human bodied, as I only played one hour of it out of curiosity, before uninstalling it. I guess they can't use robots, because the robots corrupts them or some shit, and the NIKKE are less likely to be hijacked by the aliens, though it can still happen. For all I know, behind the Tits and Ass the story is a social commentary on the state of Korean Society and how both women and men are fucked. There is also an observation that, in recent years the average Japanese escape fantasy is him dying and going into another world to have fun, whereas the South Korean escape fantasy is that the world has ended 90% of people have dies, but the main character unlocked his true potential and will create a new society. Maybe someday I will actually watch the main story on Jewtube.
>>1001279 Or Sony game.
>>1001279 N I G G E R Yes. They are both shit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ N I G G E R

>>1001289 >For all I know, behind the Tits and Ass the story is a social commentary on the state of Korean Society and how both women and men are fucked. Nice, I love it when smut has a deep plot despite how unnecessary it typically is. When it's pulled off well it makes everything in context even better for some reason.
(289.86 KB 1200x678 Dolphin_wave.jpeg)

Did you know that the guy who made senran went on to make Dolphin wave? A gacha game all about jet ski battles with giant tits. It is doing well too which makes Xseeds statement even more confusing.
>>1001316 That explains why Dolphin Wave felt somewhat similar in Style, feeling and soul to Senran Kagura. And also why the girls felt somewhat similar too and i thank him for that

>>1001336 There was also an anime to promote it.
>>1002820 I'm guessing either the promotion for the game/anime was non existent or was overshadowed by something else. Shame. Tits should be front row of any game.
>>1002824 From what I remember, Sony didn't particularly care for big booby jetski racing game.
>>1002824 >was overshadowed by something else. It was this. Kandagawa Jet Girls was the straw that broke Kenichiro Takaki's back. It was about halfway through development when Takaki left Marvelous and very publicly said it was because he was sick of Sony's shit preventing him from making the kind of games he wanted to make, leading to the death of Senran Kagura and Valkyrie Drive. Marvelous continued work on KJG without Takaki and massively reduced all fanservice aspects of the game as per Sony's guidelines. All of this was well known by anyone following Takaki's career for a good half a year or so before the game was released, absolutely destroying any hype the last game with his involvement might have had. I've heard the game itself is pretty bad with a lot of telltale signs that not even the people who made it could be bothered to give a fuck with all of Sony's restrictions in place.
The people who fought for these games to come out in the first place are no longer with the company. That's what they REALLY mean when they say this. Tom was a goofy commie who wanted the japs to self censor, but he was genuinely passionate about these games when nobody else was. Similar the woman they had on trails, I forget her name, there's no way anything after the first chapter would have released if there wasn't people like her championing/translating it at that shithole. It would have died with the tranny that tried to kill itself over the subject matter.
>>1003277 People like those just don't exist like they used to. They've all jumped ship and lesser minds who'd rather change major aspects of these games to suit their agendas or desires have taken their places.
>>1003277 >(((Tom))) cared <The same fag who appeard on youtube videos and comments, defend the old AND new localizing practices and sighting Atlus USA's(aka modern NISA's) localization of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure Sure thing dude; I've also heard that pigs sprout wings and fly around, delivering fresh ham to you.
>>1004378 Anon, nothing you posted contradicted what he said.
>>1001249 Could you elaborate?
>>1004381 Anon, you can't "be passionate" about a game and want the game's original vision to be censored because it hurts your feefees; it's one or the other. And Tom was passionate about localizing unknown franchises in order to have a leg up in Neogaf and Resetera threads with the Yakuza localizers and the 8-4 faggots. The other anon was conflating Tom's passion(which is politics and self-aggrandization by invading niche spaces) with actual care over a franchise that was difficult to come over due to puritan views being pushed even in Europe at the time I had to order my physical euro copy from fucking France because a lot of countries actively didn't bring it over despite having a clearance to be sold across the EU and was supported by sweaty nerds across a few sites that put a lot of work into translating the games before X-Seed got their localizations out and even scanlated, fansubbed and brought over drama cd content. And part of that community was found back in the 8chan days as well. There's a reason a lot of these franchises, that used to be for hardcore otaku, got traction with failed normalfags and normalniggers AFTER said "passionate" localizers brought them over, meme'd them to high hell, shilled them across their tumblrs and made them worse that Ogasawara's goon-tier lolcalizations of Pokeymanz. Yakuza was another of those victims.
>>1004388 >“Valve’s content review team, the group that made the original decision, has re-examined CHAOS;HEAD NOAH and decided to reverse course and allow the game to ship on Steam, as is,” Valve stated. “We’ve also examined the process that led to the previous decision about CHAOS;HEAD NOAH, and made some changes to avoid situations like this in the future.” https://archive.ph/wOoav
>>1004472 Eh, sound like they made an exception to overrule the initial content review because it was a big publisher and the game wasn't all about porn. I doubt they've "examined the process that led to the previous decision about CHAOS;HEAD NOAH, and made some changes to avoid situations like this in the future."
>>1001272 I'll never understand why did the nerd emoji manage to caught up considering it came from Jerry Lewis, the jew who sodomized whores back in the day at Paramount Studios
>>1004476 Its fucking embarrassing because that was a console game. Valve had no excuse for that shit happening in the first place.
(622.03 KB 1037x1382 Great Balls of Fire.jpg)

>>1004549 >Jerry Lewis For a minute there, I thought you were talking about the absolute chad Jerry Lee Lewis who married his 13 year old cousin. Took me a second to even remember who the fuck Jerry Lewis was. I know he was popular for some reason, but I can't for the life of me recall anything he had been in aside from fund raisers for muscular dystrophy and some film I vaguely recall where he was waiting in a therapists office and keep sliding off of the vinyl furniture like a retard.
>>1004575 Up to the 80's a lot of rock and metal music talked about fucking any girl 13 and up.
>>1010584 Is this psyop all you know how to post?
You now remember the /senran/ board on 8chan Prime
>>1014564 delete this
>>1014564 It fucking hurts. I also remember the /nep/ board too.
>>1010560 Rockstars still do it they just don't talk about it.
>>1014564 >>1014572 >>1014576 Entire boards to accommodate every fandom and subculture seem like a much better concept than /vg/ generals on cuckchan and it worked out well on prime. Fuck it, somebody should resurrect those boards even if the vibes aren't the same, and even if the Jews ship us off to die in WWIII.

So a Korean mobage I play is doing a collab with Senran Kagura with Yomi, Hikage, Yozakura, and obligatory and stale by this point Yumi, complete with the cloth-tearing that's iconic to the series but doesn't get represented outside of it. Is it neat? Yes. Is it formulaic as the IP license is real cheap to nab? Yes. Is it a continuation of the zombie limbo of the IP under Marvelous? Also yes. does Takaki even get a good cut of the sales, Honey ∞ Parade Games is cited in all of these collabs as well as Marvelous; I WANT to think so but my cynical gut is telling me no
>>1014564 8chan prime was killed 5 years ago btw
>>1016453 What did you do differently?
>>1016455 Spoiler doesn't work with redtext
>>1001063 >, just make a Mihoyo skinner box ripoff, They can't even do that right, the korians and chinese are giving the fanservice japan refuses and are stealing there market share.
>>1016538 I don't think Japan is averse to fanservice like people are starting to believe (I mean don't get me wrong things like OP topic, or like Bamco saying they're going in on DEI is fucked). I think it's more when it's a fading series like Senran Kagura that is probably past it's prime they seem to have this perfectionist stance where if they can't see a smash hit they will not commit to a full fledged project. And also they suck at marketing. Japan still has gachas topping the charts, but their success is so localized within Japan (I mean, some of them like Uma Musume you can only play on a Japan IP) it seems like they have some global marketing issues, as they have with other areas of entertainment like music.
