/sunflower/ was intentionally made to look that way because of earlier experiences - if you post about terrorism and blood sacrifices with photos of your bleeding wrist and your rifle w/ pentagram drawing you get quickly banned, and sometimes your devices get taken away by police, or worse. So a more child-friendly varnish was placed over both the discord server and the board. It apparently worked so well that the criticism is now about it being BS, almost no one goes after the actual content this mask was meant to obfuscate, and it remains like this to this day.
